    Mermaid's Brew!! Excellent!
    Mike D.

From my many visits to RA Sushi locations around the country (and other locations in the Valley), I can confidently say that RA isn't the type of place where you typically get a five-star meal and experience. BUT... this was the type of experience that will make me come back to RA! We sat outside. It was a toasty day, but the sun was setting and it had began to cool off. I appreciate that they have misters on the patio... but it ended up being surprisingly cold out there. So we grabbed some jackets and that helped. I had received an e-mail from RA that was advertising their new Cold Water Lobster Fried Rice. That got me in the door... and it was pretty awesome! Tons of flavor and more lobster than I was expecting! I also especially loved that they could make their fried rice dishes gluten-free - yay! And being a confident man, I don't mind ordering a drink that sounds a bit more "girly"... like the Mermaid's Brew. So I ordered that and... WOW, it was EXCELLENT! So I ordered a second one! Overall rating: ****FOUR STARS**** Gluten-free rating: ****FOUR STARS****

RA always provides a decent experience, but nothing I would call exceptional. Our waitress, however, was genuinely one of the kindest servers I've ever had. She was frequently checking in, and took the time to chat with us and make us feel welcome. The service here really stood out for going above and beyond. The food itself was solid, but not what I'd consider great, especially given the prices compared to other sushi spots I personally prefer. The caveat to this is that the portion sizes are pretty reasonable.

    Blushing geisha!
    Kira D.

Stopped in for some crab fried rice, but unfortunately, it was just not good. Flavors were all wrong. It actually tasted weird. That's my best description. My blushing geisha cocktail was ok and service was pretty good, hence the 3 star review, but can't say I'll be back to this Ra or any other Ra anytime soon!

Loved the food and ambience! Service was a little slow to start and we waited 20 min before flagging someone down to serve our table, but once we got out server it was a great experience. The food came out quickly, it was so fresh and some of the best of this cuisine I've had. Definitely worth stepping in and trying :)

We come to Ra from time to time for a quick lunch. I do love the lunch options here. My husband and I love the bento boxes.the server was great and prompt. Pricing is unbeatable for casual lunch. Ambiance is okay. This location is a bit old and needs refreshed but is always clean.

    Sangria and Miso Soup

LOVEEEEEE! Thanks to the bartender Brandon for treating me well and taking care of me! Sangria was delicious and sushi was so good. I didn't take pictures of my salmon nigiri or Las Vegas roll. But it's because I was so hungry and scarfed it down omg. The restaurant is open and big the theme is red and asian. Fitting for the vibe. This RA is nice, I'd come here again :-)

I've been to a lot of sushi restaurants, but RA is definitely one of my favorites. Everything is made to order, so you're always getting it fresh. If you go, you have to try the RAckin' Roll it's super crunchy, flavorful, and easily one of the best things on the menu. I also tried some of my mom's ramen, which didn't impress me. (not flavorful) The hibachi plates are good but not worth $45 for just rice and meat. The service was fine -- nothing to complain about, but nothing that really stood out either. They have great happy hour deals so I'd definitely recommend going then to sample a few different rolls or drinks.

Walked in on Sunday for lunch and the place was empty only a handful of people eating so I should have taken it as a bad sign to start. Sat down ordered drinks from the waitress. I noticed to start the hostess kept walking away and disappearing till the point where people were waiting to be seated. Again this was a slow day at this place and it happened again with a large party then again where the people waiting walked back out. Then again the hostess disappeared and my waitress actually sat people down because the hostess was gone again. Ordered three rolls and they came fairly quickly! Ok here goes the reason why my low score. Sushi rice was hard on all three rolls and dry! ULTIMATE SHRIMP TEMPURA ROLL had tuna that was really dry and not good so I picked it off. My waitress was nice and polite but a bill of $135 including a tip for just two alcoholic drinks and terrible rolls ain't it. Food needs to be a lot more better!

    Paul S.

Great sevice from the bartender, absolute miss on the deli meat thin sliced ahi tuna appetizer... for $16 with ice tea and tip i walked out hungry and mad at my lunch! $24 was the final total I have decided this unimpressive "upscale" sushi bar is no longer where either would like to spend my money or hungry lunches...

CHASHU RAMEN - A bowl of ramen contains slices of grilled chashu pork topped with sesame seeds, chopped green onions, shredded cabbage, and a narutomaki fish cake with a pink swirl. The broth appears rich and flavorful, with noodles submerged beneath the toppings. A red spoon rests in the bowl, and the setting includes a wooden table with a glass of water and other restaurant items in the background.

3.5 but rounding up because of the service. Stopped in on a Monday with a friend and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was happy hour all day. The menu is extensive and offers items ranging from hibachi to sushi and more. I ordered a HH California roll, chashu ramen, and we split the chili ponzu yellowtail roll. The yellowtail roll was definitely my favorite although I did feel like it could use a bit more yellowtail on top. The California roll was fine and the ramen was better than I was expecting. While it wasn't the best I've ever had, the noodles and egg were great and the pork and broth were decent. I usually avoid RA Sushi because it's on the more expensive side for average sushi. The area where I was seated wasn't super clean with trash under the table. However, service was very good and I did enjoy my food, it was just on the pricier side for the quality. I'd definitely come back on a Monday again for happy hour!

    Fish Bowl

Taven took such good care of us, highly recommend this location, never misses - Gotta get the fish bowl!!!

A young child with short hair is seated at a restaurant table, holding chopsticks above their head with a surprised expression. The table has various sushi dishes, soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger. The background shows a brown wall with artwork, chairs, and a window with a view outside. The setting appears to be a Japanese or sushi restaurant.

It's Christmas night(last night) and I had just the most wonderful time with my fam bam & I know we had a little kid running around & a baby with us . Very inconvenient for everyone else. But our server Makenna I believe her name was, she was just wonderful . She kept up with us & checked on us all the whole time. I give her 10/10 stars for amazing service and very big thank you for taking care of us .

FILET MIGNON & COLOSSAL SHRIMP - A dinner plate from RA Sushi in Mesa, AZ, includes cooked shrimp, chunks of beef, fried rice with diced vegetables, and sliced cucumbers. The food is arranged on a white plate, with the shrimp and beef positioned on one side and the fried rice on the other, accompanied by cucumber slices. The image captures a close-up view of the meal, emphasizing the variety of ingredients and presentation.
    Mel Y.

3 stars because they celebrate Veterans! The food took over an hour so definitely don't arrive super hungry. The person who was assigned to our table was great despite the wait. She apologized several times and we knew this was absolutely not her fault and tipped her the largest amount possible on the card reader device since she had an amazing attitude despite dealing with many frustrated tables. The food is subpar at best. The meal below is the filet mignon and shrimp which comes to about 56$ with tax. I would probably have paid 10$ max due to the quality and quantity of meat. They do have a decent happy hour which might be worth the price!

The image shows the interior of a restaurant with high tables and chairs, some with red cushions. Red lanterns are suspended from the ceiling, and large windows line the wall, providing natural light and a view outside. A staff member is seen adjusting or cleaning a table. The decor includes artwork on the walls and a modern ceiling design with black and wooden elements.

The queso was rich without being too heavy, and the mustard added a nice contrast. For my meal, I had the Caesar salad topped with a bistro steak cooked a perfect medium rare. The romaine was crisp, the garlic-anchovy dressing bold, and the garlic croutons and parmesan tied everything together. The steak was tender, flavorful, and elevated the salad. At the table, we also ordered the cheesesteak with Angus beef, roasted peppers and onions, Havarti cheese, and garlic aioli served on a baguette, with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was hearty and satisfying, and the fries were really good The wagyu burger was another standout--topped bacon, Gruyère and smoky blue cheese, caramelized onions, tomato jam, and garlic aioli on a pub bun. The beef and bacon were fabulous and the fries cooked to perfection Jake, our server, was terrific--attentive, friendly, and helped make the whole experience even better. We finished with the butterscotch bread pudding topped with vanilla gelato and caramel sauce, which was the perfect ending--warm, comforting, and just the right amount of sweetness Overall, a great patio dining experience with flavorful dishes, excellent service, and plenty of variety.

She was friendly personable and slinging drinks like she'd been there for a while. Great job to both of them! As for the food, it was phenomenal as expected but a special call out needs to be made for the butterscotch bread pudding. It was complementary for my birthday and I probably would have never tried it before but it turned out to be the best bread pudding I've had in ages. So tender and sweet delicious!! 5 stars. There's a bar, and a really great mural. There's an entire wall of banqettes, and some tables in the second room which is divided only by a half wall. There are some walls which I thought had exposed brick, but later noticed were wall boards. Either way, I love the look. We were seated right away and the nicest server came over. He really seems to love the restaurant and love the food, which is always a plus in my book. The boys each got a beer, and I got the Italian margarita. It was a sweet drink that kind of tasted like an Amaretto Sour, which makes sense since there's Amaretto in it. I liked it. They brought gigantic rolls with butter to the table. I really liked it because most places serve sourdough bread, and I don't really like sourdough bread. These large white rolls were yummy. I wasn't very hungry so I just ordered two meatballs, but I asked if I could have the meat sauce instead of the marinara that it usually comes with. Our server said there would be no problem with that, and there wasn't. Hubby got the spaghetti and meatballs, and son got eggplant parmesan. All of it was delicious and I give kudos for a really yummy meat sauce. For me, the meat sauce can make or break an Italian restaurant. They seem to do a pretty brisk take out business, and there were quite a few people by the time we left. I would love to come back and try the pizza, because pizzas that we saw coming out looked fantastic.

Let me start with a little tid bit about Downtown Gilbert. There is nothing really special about it…read moreoutside of the vibe is right. Always a lot of people there so it makes you want to be there. Restaurant wise they have really basic offerings. Places you can find in Mesa, and Tempe, and Scottsdale. Now.... What truly makes Downtown Gilbert special are the small shops that are hidden away from the "main strip". One of those places is Clever Koi. Hidden in the Parking lot space behind Shaq's Chicken spot is a small strip of shops. A book store, smoothie place, and my favorite Clever Koi. Our family has very different tastes when we move from one member to the next. So finding places that we all like gets tricky. Clever Koi makes that easy because we honestly have yet to run into something we don't like. Let's start with our favorite starter. The steamed buns (giggity). The pork belly is hands down phenomenal. An amazing bite that literally makes you want more and more. The lazy fries are just that, again pork belly is included, but that garlic aioli is what drives this dish. The tai salad is obviously classic. The short rib dumplings literally make you close your eyes and just say "Mmmmmm". My middle child is the hardest pallet to please at any restaurant as he only eats certain things, but the Chicken Katsu sandwich here is his second favorite chicken sandwich in all this world. The first time he ate it he spent the whole ride home raving about it. Mind you, we live in San Tan, so not a short ride. The shaking beef is always good. It has this firey kick that brings the heat upfront but does not linger. You cannot forget about the fried rice here. Rice is one of my weaknesses in life second only to pizza. Fried rice ranks right up there with my top favorite ways to eat rice and this ranks right up there with my favorite fried rice places. The main reason we come here is because of the noodles. Ramen, ramen, ramen. When you think of Ramen, I assure you this is what you are thinking of. The broth is oh so savory and reigns in the fresh veggies and proteins to meld them with the noodles for a flavor punch each time you have a mouthful. They have great drinks here as well, or so I've been told by the other adults I come here with. I always just get a sake and Sapporo so... LOL The service is always good here and we somehow always manage to miss the lunch or dinner rush which is awesome. All in all... this is by far my favorite dining spot in downtown Gilbert. Great food, great drinks, great service, great atmosphere, in the middle of a great little square. A must eat for me.

I highly recommend adding some of the homemade Fresno chile sriracha for a kick! The pork ramen was also very delicious. Be warned it's a lot of pork! My wife preferred it with the green jalapeño sriracha. The drinks were also very unique and delicious! A sideline view for me and riding the line for my wife. Oh and the best part was the dessert Bananas foster hush puppy puffs. These were so unique, seasoned with cinnamon sugar and Chinese 5 spice. It took some getting used to but the more you ate it with the Carmel toffee sauce the more I enjoyed it. All in all I can see why people love this place! It's a 5 star restaurant for a 3 star price! I think I need to replicate this at home! Very creative & healthy! My cousin & friend both got burgers, one topped with mushrooms & one with a lettuce wrap sub, Zucchini & Sweet Potato Fries. The seating is very comfortable with the cushioned seats & booths & the restaurant is very bright & airy with lots of windows & high ceilings. If you have to use the restroom, it's located outside & will give you a passcode. Highly recommend this place!

Hubby & I had dinner here tonight. I can't believe we haven't been here before…read more We were greeted by multiple staff when we walked in. Everyone was welcoming & friendly. We were seated right away & our server came over promptly. Hubby got his favorite draft beer, I got the red Zinrita. Both of which were good. We ordered the pretzels & cheese. Hubby got the burger of the week which was the Chuck Norris & onion rings. I got the double smashed burger & fries. The pretzels & cheese were excellent! They were the best we have ever had & we've had a lot. I don't think the cheese is beer cheese, but whatever it was it was so good. Hubby loved his burger & the onion rings were really good. They ate like Red Robin onion rings. They were crispy & cooked perfectly. My burger was good. I got it without the tomato bacon relish. my fries were good & crispy. It's a bit pricey in my opinion for not coming with fries, but still really good. I'm sure we will come back again.

I love a good rooftop and the weather was perfect. While they don't have a parking lot, free parking is available on the street and in the various surface lots and garages in the area. Ambiance (4.5/5): It's tough to beat a rooftop. Here you'll have nice views of downtown Gilbert, including the historic Gilbert water tower (which lights up at night). It's not a huge restaurant/bar, probably 50 seats or so. A good number of tables and then 15 seats or so at the bar. We sat at the bar. There's a pretty nice mural on one end too. Service (4/5): A little slow to start out with and to close out, but overall, friendly. We found one of the last four remaining seats at the bar. If not for that, there would have been a wait. One drink and then we made our way. Overall, about average. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet for this visit but they do have a full menu. Drinks (4/5): Interesting craft cocktail list. The first one on the list is a Sotol cocktail. If you've never had Sotol, it's a Mexican spirit. Not tequila and not mezcal, but somewhat similar to mezcal and it does have a bit of a smoky flavor. The Sotol So Good has sotol, butterfly pea, coconut rum, pineapple, lime, and orgeat. It's purple so it makes an impression. It packs a punch too. If you're looking for a cool spot to grab some food and drinks in the heart of downtown Gilbert, when the weather is nice, Sotol is a great choice!

Right from the start, the elevator was out of order, which wasn't ideal. When we got inside, the place was mostly empty -- only a couple of other guests -- yet we were told to sit anywhere except along a section of tables by the wall. I pointed out a table at the far end, well away from the entrance, but was directed instead to what felt like the least desirable table, with the reasoning being they might need the space for a large party. After a bit of back-and-forth, they eventually let us sit where we preferred, but it made for a poor first impression -- especially considering the restaurant never filled up. Tried a few cocktails -- they were well made and enjoyable, definitely the highlight of the visit. Overall, good drinks but the initial experience left a sour note -- may or may not return. Saluti.

It was not too busy - most were sitting on the patio enjoying the nice weather or in line at the coffee counter. I got a table for two right by a window. The interior looks modern chic, and has many windows so a lot of natural light was shining through. A server got my drink order shortly after being seated, then my friend arrived, but the server had disappeared for a while. It wasn't super busy, so I'm not sure what the hold-up was. I got the Matcha Strawberry off of their Signature Drinks menu, which tasted fresh and delicious. My friend started with a slice of Banana Choc Espresso Loaf - I tried a bite and it was dense with good flavor, especially the Valrhona chocolate. For brunch I got the Maeva "BEC" (bacon, egg, & cheese sandwich), and my friend got the Treg's Breakfast (eggs, bacon, and sourdough). The shape of the egg in my sandwich was like a square block and unexpected, but it still tasted good. The egg, cheese, pickled peppers, and chili mayo paired nicely together with the milk bun. My friend enjoyed her food as well. I would come back and try some other menu items and dinner.
