Deviled eggs
Stephanie K.

Definitely a great choice for date night! Be sure to make a reservations cause it can fill up quick and you'll be waiting a while. Service is always great. My go to orders are always the Mediterranean tuna salad and devilled eggs. Dress well because it's a classy place that you'll be sure to enjoy! Side note, I was kind of surprised how shrinkflation has affected this restaurant as the devilled eggs are now 3 pieces instead of the 5 from the last time I was here (years ago). Still great place to dine!

Friendly staff, food and drinks was good. It has a cozy front porch with yellow umbrellas. I didn't see anyone with dogs outside; I'm not sure if they're welcome.

We had an amazing time at R+D Kitchen! The ambiance is warm yet not too formal and our service was excellent. All of the food we got was recommended by the staff and it was fantastic. I highly recommend starting with the dip duo (guacamole and pimento cheese). The fried chicken sandwich was delicious with a perfectly crispy chicken breast with nice mustard and toppings. The rainbow roll was also excellent. To top it off, we got the banana pie which was great. Tip- ask for it with hot fudge. We will for sure come back to R+D Kitchen! Note- make sure to make a reservation. The wait for those without a reservation was over an hour when we went.

Yellowtail fish + kale salad - 10/10 so good

Tried this place for a celebration lunch with my boss + coworkers and everything was super great. The food was all excellent, the server was very funny + attentive, and the reservation booking process was easy. Restaurant was busy but very clean, we had a great time.

I'm Hillstone's biggest fan, so I was excited to try R+ D. It's a quaint restaurant, with friendly staff. Overall the food was good but I would have thought they would carry over similar offerings and service as their sister restaurant. We ordered the Pine salad which was super Fresh and it paired so well with the vinaigrette and shaved almonds. For our mains we ordered the Carnitas sandwich, the meat was on the cold end, felt like a little deli style-- wasn't the best sandwich. Also I was shocked to know that the sandwiches don't come French fries, the added expensive it's almost $30 for both things. Ugh no thank you, Next! Also tried the stacked sushi, I hated that I had to wait to eat as wasabi wasn't added to the plate. I felt they missed alot of little details telling you fries aren't included, not asking for a refill on your beer, and the wasabi. Expected a little more from this place.

We tried this place recently for lunch as it was recommended by several people at work. Make sure to give yourself 10-15 min to circle the parking lot and find a spot and walk to the restaurant. Parking is extremely limited. We had a reservation at 12:15. We checked in at 12:12 and didn't get seated until 12:32. Not a great start, but the food was pretty good. We started with the deviled eggs and rainbow roll. Both had great flavor. My wife tried the tuna salad sandwich and I ordered the Little Mo. Both were tasty and a good portion size. We tried a side of the shrimp and grits as well, which were good. Overall, it was good, but with the parking and the wait, we don't need to hurry back.

Sushi

The sushi was unique and very flavorful. The restaurant is very cute inside. The service was a little slow at times but they were busy. It felt like they kept skipping over us but they were super nice. Will def be back to try the mini chicken sandwiches. Everyone near us kept ordering them and they looked so good.

We were skeptical of the menu containing things that don't normally sit on a menu together, but somehow, it worked for us. You could taste the freshness and quality of ingredients. Service was nothing short of excellent. We'll be back.

Spicy Tuna

Definitely a good spot that hits the upscale but still casual vibe right on the head. Modern inside but not excessively so. Not a huge amount of seating, and definitely not a spot I'd take a large group. The biggest tables I could see looked like they'd be comfortable for 5 or 6. The hostess and waitress we saw were great, super friendly. Our waitress also had good recommendations and was helpful walking us through the menu. Their crisp martini was genuine very refreshing, especially considering the amount of booze it carries. I got the spicy tuna roll for dinner, which was definitely solid. The crisp jicama was a nice addition and the tuna was clearly fresh and good tasting. I would go for something else next time but it is a solid plate. The drinks are kind of on the pricey end at around 17/18 per cocktail, but the food is relatively reasonable with most sushi in the 17-22 dollar range. Other places were also reasonably priced. Oh and the hot fudge sundae was glorious. Maybe just go heavier on the nuts next time

The shirt I was wearing

I had what can only be described as a humiliating experience at R&D Kitchen in Dallas. I arrived dressed in a tailored, fashionable outfit that included a sleeveless top. During my visit, a manager approached me and informed me that men are not permitted to wear tank top however she admitted that it wasn't a tank but my armpits were showing and asked whether I could change my shirt. The conversation was handled in a way that drew attention to me, causing nearby diners to turn and stare. I was embarrassed and felt singled out. What made the situation even more frustrating was the apparent inconsistency of the policy. Throughout the restaurant, numerous WOMEN were wearing tank tops, sleeveless tops, and clothing that exposed significantly more skin than my outfit. Yet I was the only person approached and asked to change. If R&D Kitchen has a dress code, it should be applied EQUALLY and consistently to everyone. Instead, the experience felt arbitrary, outdated, and discriminatory. No guest should be made to feel uncomfortable or publicly embarrassed because of their attire when similar attire is clearly being worn by others in the restaurant. Dallas has too many excellent dining options to spend my time and money somewhere that makes guests feel unwelcome. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning.

We had a reservation... unfortunately they were so busy. We waited a cool 25 to 30 minutes.. A little disappointed that they tried to upsell us on the cocktails . We were really just interested in sushi . And we asked several times about cocktails. The food is very nice. We enjoyed all the sushi choices. Our favorite was the sampler with the yellowtail bluefin. And salmon. I think we would go back thr sushi was good.

Decent service. My family has been coming here for ten years now and the service has slowly declined since then-- it's not the same. If you're expecting incredible service I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place but the food is great! Sushi is amazing. Very fresh & delicious. It's really the only reason we come back. Ambiance is fun! It's always very lively & energetic because it's usually always packed. Waited around 45 minutes to 1 hour on a Tuesday afternoon.

Petrale Sole fresh fish.

After waters were delivered, our drink order wasn't taken for at least 15-20 minutes after getting there. We placed our drink order and then waited, and waited, and waited for our first round of drinks to come. At one point I made the joke that I should be on my second drink by now(this turned into a joke about how I should be on my third). When the drinks finally came, everyone but mine was delivered, the waitress said that she was running back up to grab mine. She came back with my drink 10 minutes later. At this point we just placed our orders for food and I decided to place my next drink order at this point to help with the wait time. The waitress came back with the appetizer and I actually placed another drink order as well before my second drink came because I wanted to stay ahead of the game. 2nd and 3rd drinks actually came at a reasonable time and I started feeling like the night was turning around. Spoiler Alert: It wasn't. Entrees were delivered and surprise surprise, the food that was ordered with mine was delivered but mine was not. Waited for another long period of time and then my food was delivered. Was an apology of any sort ever given, no. Our waitress came to check back on the table very sparingly to the point we were waiting to place a dessert order so long we decided to take it to go. Ordered the monkey bread, got back to eat it and all the dough was raw. $200 bill between food and drinks for my wife and I and an appetizer for the table(there were others and other bills as well), still tipped 20% but there I would never recommend this restaurant for the service or the food. Great atmosphere great views. Service doesn't match the vibe.

Food, however, wasn't great, we came multiple times last year and it was fantastic all around, last night?... New risotto appetizer was flavorless 4/10, sauce was outstanding 9/10. Chicken meatballs were 6/10, salty, but sauce again was 8.5/10. Bread with the meatballs was 9/10. Nightly special was 9/10, chicken thigh wrapped chicken leg, amazing sauce and carrots. Special sauce with the nightly special stole the night at 9.5/10 - I'd order a bowl of that and call it a night! Magic Chicken Thighs were 6/10, overly salted and dry - side arugula salad was a salt bomb 2/10. Sweet potatoe purée was 7.5/10. Burger and fries were 7/10, solid and above average. Salmon was 7/10, slightly overcooked. Mac & Cheese was 3/10, below average, dry, almost flavorless - paid $4 for bacon topping and it was dry also. Noodles were dried out and the cheese sauce was at the bottom of the cup, tasted like they scooped in pre-made noodles, added sauce, threw it in the oven and off it went - didn't appear mixed together at the least. Carrots, solid 8/10. Overall, I'd be tempted to give it another try, the ambiance and overall feel is awesome - then hope the food is great again and make it a perfect Friday night spot, but for $275 for the 4 entree's, 2 appetizer's and 2 drinks we got last night? I'd argue it wasn't worth it.

Began with a signature cocktail, The Bracco, frozen, not sweet, refreshing with a delicious punch of grapefruit. Perfect for a hot evening in Dallas! You MUST get the biscuits with butter and homemade orange marmalade. It's a must. Salty, buttery, and with a sweet/sour tang of good marmalade. GET IT!! Split the wedge salad. Yes, you should split it. It was big! Plenty for two to split as an appetizer easily or you could add some filet to it for an entree. Will do that for lunch. And probably split that too! The giant bacon cubes and quality blue cheese crumbles are my reason for living. Entrees we tried (this time. We'll definitely try more items next visit): got THE crab cake. It is big. More crab than cake, which shows the quality. Wasn't a fan of the butter sauce, I thought it was too heavy for the delicate crab and would just ask for it plain with just some fresh lemon but the cake itself was perfect with jumbo lumps. Came with fries. Fries and dipping sauces were excellent but may ask for a different side option to keep it lighter. My daughter had the miso glazed salmon which came with potato puree with buttermilk....omg the only fault with it is that there wasn't nearly enough, and a jalapeno slaw, which was crispy and creamy with a little kick to it. Perfection! We also tried the side of creamed corn. Not sweet. Definitely savory and not too heavy, which was nice, with a little mild pepper kick. Desserts we took home because we were stuffed which were the carrot cake and the chocolate pie. We'll eat those tonight while watching tv. I have no doubt they will be great too. Definitely make a reservation. They get crowded. It does get noisy as well. Oh, and hopefully you'll have the best server Jemima. She was so sweet, personable, easy to chat with, and made our first time there a wonderful experience. Note to owners....she deserves a raise for being awesome!!! If there was a rating higher, I would give it. It is not often you go to a restaurant that hits all the marks at the same time but Bobbie's definitely did. We DEFINITELY will be back soon. We checked in with the host and were quoted a 30-minute wait, which ultimately turned into 45 minutes. That said, once we were seated, the food came out pretty quickly. The Fried Brie is always a 10/10! The blueberry compote pairs beautifully with the brie, and I love that it's served with sliced baguette on the side. I ordered the Cacio e Pepe with added shrimp, while my husband went with the Bowen Cheeseburger. Unfortunately, the shrimp was extremely salty. I love a well-seasoned dish, but there's a difference between flavorful and overly salty. The seasoning completely overpowered the shrimp, so I ended up picking it off and enjoying the pasta on its own. The Bowen Cheeseburger was excellent, as always. Just keep in mind that you can't request it medium-rare since it's a smashburger. For dessert, I ordered a slice of cheesecake, which comes with the same blueberry compote served with the Fried Brie. It was delicious and earned a solid 9/10 from me! Overall, the food was great, as usual. Aside from the overly salty shrimp and the longer-than-quoted wait, we enjoyed our visit. I'd absolutely come back, especially for that Fried Brie!
