Let me tell you. It's hard to find a locksmith that has an actual location open on a Saturday. One closest to us had hours listed as being open, but we're definitely closed :(. I called Quick Key to verify their hours (they were correct) and the person on the line was very friendly and said we could stop by today. We had a safe that uses a keypad entry but the battery died and I lost the key sometime in the past 10+ years and 3 moves. The safe is discontinued with the company and they recommended taking it to a locksmith. Dominic got to work on the safe and definitely did his due diligence to see if any method could be used to open it before having to take a drill to it. Quick Key came back with the lowest quote for two re-keys, door push plate, and a smart lock deadbolt installation. Honestly, I feel a bit duped because they quoted me $65 for the installation of the deadbolt, but come day of the service they mentioned it was $125 for a smart lock deadbolt. Annoying because I had sent a direct link of the smart lock I had purchased ahead of time, so I figured it was clear what was being installed. And this price difference was pretty much the deciding factor going with Quick Key vs another locksmith. Anyhow, Mike was the guy sent out to do the work. He was polite and showed up during the schedule two hour window. Very quick to re-key the two doors. The front door was where a majority of his time was spent, installing a door push plate to cover previous door holes, drilling a new hole for the deadbolt, and installing a faceplate to reinforce where the old holes were installed (opted for this the day of). Overall quality of work was okay. He ended up chiseling away at the door frame to allow clearance for where there was slight obstruction. Not the cleanest way to do it, but I guess this is where we'd probably need a carpenter opposed to a locksmith. Anyways, while I'm happy we have a deadbolt on our front door and all the access points rekeyed, there could have been a much more accurate quote provided given all of the communication and detailed photos exchanged ahead of time. In short, really no difference in other price quotes. If I'm in need of a lock services in the future, I'd probably take a chance at a different locksmith. 'Til next time. read more

I purchased a "smart" lock for my front door deadbolt, and upon trying to install it, I realized that the door knob hole was way too small (it's a 25+ year old door). I don't have the tools or expertise to enlarge this hole - plus I'm sure I would have don't a horrible job - so I did a general "Yelp" request on a Saturday night. Sunday morning, and it was Mother's Day!, I received a message from them wondering if I'd like to schedule an appointment that day. Nah - it's Mother's Day - but can I schedule for Monday? I recently moved into a new place and needed the two locks to my condo re-keyed. I made the request through Yelp and Jessica from Quick Key responded with a very reasonable price. I confirmed the price but offered to send pictures of the locks before making an appointment. She asked if I had the working keys. I sent the pictures. She again confirmed the price as long as the locks were the same brand. Since I just moved in and inherited these locks I had no idea if they were the same brand. After that, I received no more responses from Jessica (the owner). In summary, all of the responses were slow and left me waiting. As the owner, she was not customer focused at all. We had some skeletal door handles that were installed for us by a contractor at our home but several of the doors had issues. We called quick key and had them look at the doorknobs and they determined that the installation that was completed by the previous contractor was essentially the issue (as an example - several of the doors were not properly chiseled out and/or the contractor bent parts to install the door handles). Alejandro Robles completed the analysis and installation of the new doorknobs. He also went above and beyond and took extra precautions to help ensure that the doorknobs were extra secure which we really appreciated after the issues we had before they fixed the doorknobs. Alejandro also was able to use some of the existing doorknobs and didn't have to reinstall a couple doorknobs (although he did tweak them). Despite me ordering 17 doorknobs and installation for those doorknobs - quick key took the two doorknobs and associated installation costs off the final invoice. This speaks volumes to me as it shows that they are honest. I really to do work with companies that are honest, reliable, and of course - good at their work. Alejandro and Quick Key checked all of these boxes for us during this project. I will work with them again and recommend them to others. read more

Also they said when providing a quote that they would be able to deactivate a mortise lock, but when the locksmith came he said that was something they never do. So now I have to find someone else to do that. The prices and services they promised were different from what they actually delivered, which was disappointing. read more

Great and prompt service. Very fast and responsive. They had a tech out to us ASAP to deal with a malfunctioning exterior deadbolt. The tech was able to quickly assess the issue and offered a good range of options. After I chose the solution that was best for us, he was able to promptly install it with a re-keyed lock to maintain continuity with the existing keys. Hired them last november to install a new gate knob and keypad to enter the home. They originally estimated 2-3 weeks. On the date of installation the guy missed his original time in the morning and ended up having to do it in the afternoon after we waited around. When installing they didn't have all the parts or the time to finish installation so they said they'd finish on Saturday. Saturday comes we stay at home expecting someone to show and no one comes. I ask them the next day what happened and they said they are looking for someone to do the wl service and would contact me later. 3 weeks go by, it's early january and then I ask them what is going on. They schedule someone for 2 weeks later. When the guy comes it's middle of January and says he can't do the work in the cold. I get angry and ask them why would they delay so long and not try to schedule earlier. No response. I speak with a manager and he says that they will watch out for 3 days above freezing to finish the job. He said they would contact me at earliest possible date. After a month the weather becomes better and no one calls or emails. A month later in early March after that I ask them what the situation was, they said no one was available until mid april. At this point I've been waiting for 3 months for a gate lock keypad and they schedule for another month later. All throughout the whole process no one ever bothered to reach out and schedule anything. If I hadn't reached out constantly I guess the work would never be done. Extremely unresponsive except when asking for billing. Terrible customer service. The serviceman was good and did his job well. However if you have anything that requires any scheduling I would avoid. read more

I requested to be let in for a lockout over the weekend, not only did it take 2 hours to send a technician one mile down the road, but the technician they sent damaged my lock to the point where I could not get back in my home the next day. I went to the shop in-person for this fix, and the manager/supervisor told me, without any knowledge of the situation, that the "technician probably didn't damage the lock," and attempted to charge me again. The new tech that was sent, who was undoubtedly more equipped for the job, told me that it was indeed the last tech who damaged my lock by using the wrong picking technique, something that presumably should be learned in training before performing services on people's home locks. Subpar customer service and subpar quality assurance. I recommend finding somewhere else for a better bang for your buck. read more
