Contracted Eco Tec to blow cellulose into the ceiling space of my 3rd floor walkup vintage condo in the city. Brian the owner came and gave a thorough review and well-priced quote. He heard my concerns about time and parking and sent a double crew to get everything done in one day. Crew was professional, attentive, and quick. Overall they did a thorough job masking everything - only issue was a door was left open for a while so our kitchen got pretty dusty. Recommend anyone be extra attentive to what should be masked off and closed etc, but I would use Eco Tec again and would recommend to others. read more

It was a pleasure to work with Brian, Andrew, and their family business. I recently had Eco Tec at my home doing wall cavity insulation. My house is over 100 years old and largely stucco exterior, both of which present more challenges, but they were able to do get the job done mostly from the outside. I only had a short turn around time for completion of the work, repair, and clean up. Brian went above and beyond to get my final clean up done by my required deadline - thank you Andrew and Ryan. I want to acknowledge Ruben for his efforts and thorough work getting my drywall repaired, painted and back to normal. Brian is very responsive and has such a friendly, calm and competent attitude. I thought my initial quote was very reasonable considering the scope of the work. My final invoice and payment due amount was really good value. I would definitely recommend Eco Tec Insulation. read more

We are living in our recently purchased home, while the second floor is getting a complete remodel, including insulation. We compared them with another company, and are so pleased we went with Eco Tec. The 3 man crew delivered everything promised...on time, efficiently and it was a tricky job because our home is older...nooks and crannies. End result: we are satisfied customers who can heartily recommend Eco Tec. read more

Awesome experience! Everything was smooth from start to finish. I had Eco Tec remove all the old batts of insulation from my attic and replace it with 5 inches of closed cell foam. The estimator came out and walked the space with me, explained what they would do and answered all my questions. Dave was very knowledgeable and experienced. Stacy in the office was easy to work with and schedule the work. A crew came out on Monday (Julio and Manuel), pulled all the old insulation down, bagged it up and took it away. The next day, two trucks rolled up and the crew (Miguel, Perry, Patrick and Gerardo) tag teamed the spraying of the attic. When they were done they cleaned up everything, like they were never there. I could not be more happy with the work they did. I wish i would have done it years ago. read more

I contacted this company to get an estimate to remove and install new insulation. The person that I talked to you first was pleasant and helpful in setting up an appointment. After that experience, it was all downhill. I had to reschedule the initial appointment. The day of the new appointment we were contacted by Brian Holtzman(the owner) and we're told an inspection wasn't needed that our job was straightforward and they would just send us a estimate. Well, we were told we'd get an estimate by noon which never happened. I contacted Brian the next day and said we never received the estimate and provided my email again as well as my wife's. He never acknowledge that text message and we never received an estimate. The next text I sent to Brian Holtzman the owner, was stating we never received an estimate and because of the poor communication he wasn't going to get a favorable review on yelp. Brian's response to that text was, I sent the estimate! And then called me an angry individual and an unhappy person. Brian even went so far as to contact me to wish me a happy holiday even after I said, please do not contact me again. If Brian, the owner treats people like this, I could only imagine what his employees act like. I would rate this zero stars however it won't let me so I had to give them a one. read more

I contacted Eco-Tec via their "Request a free quote" form on their website. 24 hours before our free consultation, I was contacted by Eco-Tec asking me to re-validate the information I had already submitted. Then I received a phone call from a polite, but uninformed sales person who let me know that they looked at my home on Redfin and Google and that because I lived in a brick home, they couldn't provide my side-walls with insulation. When i pressed for further information, the sales person indicated that brick homes don't have enough space in their walls for blown-in insulation. Still determined to give Eco-Tec the chance at winning my business, I asked how they could be sure that every brick home has the same amount of space between dry-wall and brick. The sales person then said, ..." even if we put in insulation in your walls, it wouldn't do anything." My home has 3.75 inches of space between my dry-wall and the brick - this equates to ~ R13- R15 when insulated with dense packed insulation. The EPA website recommends a minimum of R15 insulation for side-walls in this region. Eco-tech disagrees with this assessment- apparently putting R13-R15 of insulation in walls "...wouldn't do anything." Save yourself the trouble and contact another company that is willing to come provide minimal customer service by at least visiting your home! read more

First and foremost, I want to say THANK YOU to the Eco Tec team. Such a pleasure from start to finish with their work on insulating my attic. I was super hesitant with hiring a contract due to my recent experience with a painting company that left less than desirable results. Stacey really calmed my nerves and was so patient with walking me through the insultation process. She even managed to get Josh to my home, the same day we spoke, to take a look at my attic and provide a quote. Josh was so kind and provided a great quote so I immediately signed with Eco Tec. I had a couple other contractors who provided quotes as well, and I would say Eco Tec's was in the mid-range. He was not pushy and really was thoughtful in what was best for my home. He wanted to make sure my home was up to code, which I had no clue that it wasn't since I just moved in. Enrique, the foreman, and Luis were AWESOME. They were super professional and worked so efficiently. They were extremely careful with my home, which I was so thankful for. My mother mentioned how she hated how insulation fell everywhere when the attic hatch was opened, so Enrique created a barrier to prevent that from happening! Again, Eco Tec is great, and I'm so happy with their work. If you're hesitant on your decision, go with them. I promise you won't be disappointed!! read more

Great job by Eco Tec! 3-man crew spray insulated my 2-story garage in one day! Fast, clean, and most importantly they did an awesome job on the insulation. My wife and I could tell the difference immediately in temperature and sound. Communication and scheduling was professional. I took bids from multiple companies and Eco Tec was more than fair. Stacy walked me through the process and we compared and contrasted the different options I had. She explained everything clearly and after speaking with the competing businesses I felt most comfortable with her and Eco Tec. Outstanding customer service and workmanship!! First of all I want to say, Thank You Eco Tec!!! We called for an estimate on our crawl space and downstairs family room with a over hang. Josh preformed the estimate. He explained everything step by step. Answering all my question. Received the estimate in 3 days. I called to setup the install date. The receptionist scheduled the appointment on the date I requested. The person had friendly voice, I thought I was talking to my sister! Due to our timeline, we had to change the install date. In order to do this, I had to speak the scheduler. Again, I thought I was talking to my sister! Here I'm thinking it's going to be a problem. But, no problem at all! And just like before, I picked the date. The install day arrived and the 3 man crew were punctual, courtesy and professional. Before work began, the foreman walked me through process. When work began, they all worked together as one. No one stood around. When they finished, they cleaned up as if they were never there. I was very impressed from start to finish. Not only did the Eco Tec team did a fantastic job insulating my walls, they did it in record time! I called with a ridiculous rush and they came out 7am the very next morning and completed the job in one day! I had a wonderful experience with EcoTech Insulation, from the first call with Stacey in the office, to the completion with Jose, Perry and Ruben. They arrived right on time, worked hard, and got it all done, and left my attic floor cleaner than it had started. The insulation is covering all surfaces and applied evenly. It was very easy to work with Stacey to set everything up and I feel confident I got the best value for this job. The workers were polite and accommodating and did a great job. I had a very bad experience with EcoTec. Afterward the owner, Brian, did come out and we talked which I appreciate and where I asked for a partial refund to cover the additional costs I incurred during the installation and to clean up some of their work because I did not want Eco Tec to do anything else and did not want their work to be a nuisance for people. They did not think there was any cleanup necessary and thought everything they did was great. I disagree and my issues with their work are: 1. They were dangerous. I wasn't told anything about the installation process and what safety procedures should be followed. I was allowed to stay in my condo unit throughout the installation of spray foam. I wasn't actively disobeying or ignoring their instructions. After actually looking up what is recommended or allowable (including talking to their spray foam manufacturer), this was totally unacceptable. They did not stop my HVAC system during installation either. I assumed and trusted that they would be safe and tell me what was appropriate safety measures like professionals but they were not at all. I will never forgive them for potentially exposing my family (including 1 year old kid) to what can be pretty toxic chemicals. 2. They spray foamed the wrong place. When they said they were done, I came out to see that they had done the ceiling instead of the walls. Hard to undo that. I didn't ask or want it in the ceiling. 3. Their work was not very effective. There are already gaps in the spray foam in the ceiling of the mechanical room. The floor of the room all the work was done for is still cold and inspectors that have come have noticed cold areas in the walls and ceiling as well. I think they oversprayed in our mechanical room ceiling to a point where it is going to be a nuisance for our building. read more

I contacted Stacey at Eco Tech because our bedroom over our garage was extremely cold. She gave us a prompt and reasonable quote and was able to arrange for our job to be done timely during a very cold period. The crew arrived right on time and diagnosed and resolved the issue quickly. 5 star job by Eco Tec ! They did a great job insulating the basement. A three man team arrived at 8:00am put up a plastic barrier to protect my junk. Sprayed for 2 hours trimed some of the foam and were out by 1:00. Very little over spray on the plastic barrier. They left the basement spotless! The foam was applied evenly and in every crack and crevice. The first floor of the house was always cold and very drafty. I could tell the difference the first night. The floors were warmer and you could not feel the draft. So glad I had it done! read more

I was looking to have insulation installed to prevent ice damming, and I called several companies to get quotes. EcoTec was the only one who followed through on offering a quote. Their quoted price was less than I was expecting, and the sales rep was quick to answer all my questions (and even after sitting on the quote for over six months, they didn't increase their price). The insulation team that came kept the work area clean and neat, and the hole they cut in the ceiling was about as unobtrusive as it could be. They weren't able to do all the work that was estimated, so they adjusted the price accordingly. They cleaned up well when they were finished, and I've already felt the difference. I am very pleased with EcoTec's work and professionalism and would unreservedly recommend them. read more

A friend used Eco Tec for her home a few years ago and was very pleased with their service. So I hired them to insulate our bedrooms, on the second floor of our Cape Cod. Since the second floor is the attic, that means insulating the roof from inside, as well as walls. Our 1949 home had NO insulation on side walls. They also insulated small closets called 'knee walls', in each bedroom. We've noticed the difference immediately since we have a thermostat in the bedroom. They protected the carpet and furniture and although we left the house on Day 2 when they used the foam, they texted us when they left mid-afternoon, and told us to return in 3 hours. If no smell, we could enter. Luckily there was no smell, so we slept in our bedroom that night. I would highly recommend them! read more

Our bedroom is a 1970s addition to a 1955 raised ranch. The addition has a crawl space, and upon further inspection, little to no insulation. Our bedroom was consistently 4 degrees cooler than the rest of our house, and the utility bill showed it. We called up Ecotec after seeing their excellent reviews and a local HQ. Brian and his team were fantastic. Masks were worn and social distancing was practiced. The small space was a quick job, and the smell was pretty much gone within 8 hours. Our bedroom now sits within 1-1.5 degrees of the rest of the home. We set our thermostat at night to a sensor in the baby's room, and now finally we get to be cozy at night, too! The investment was absolutely worth every penny. read more

I hired Ecotech because my neighbor used them and he was happy with their work. They recently completed my project and I am very satisfied. The foreman showed me what he was going to do and explained it in detail. I really liked that they first covered and taped everything to protect from damage/dirt. Once they finished the job, the place was left clean exactly how it was before. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing spray insulation work to be done. read more

We used Eco Tec about 5 years ago and were totally impressed with the effectiveness of the open foam insulation; what a difference in utility costs and comfort level. The two guys from Eco Tec, Chris and Enrique, are at my place at this very moment! I absolutely love them! They arrived on time, are friendly, professional, seem to know about insulation and care about what my goal is for this project. What more could I want?! I was hesitant to go with Eco Tec because the reviews are so divided but most of the people who actually had Eco Tec come to their home & do work seem to be pleased. My first interaction was with Stacey and she was super friendly. She helped explain the process to me, set my appointment and answered my questions. Josh was my sales person and although I didn't speak with him directly he orchestrated everything well and sent me a great 2 man crew to work with. I am using Eco Tec to place more substantial insulation to decrease noise migration from a shared wall. I don't know how the results will be but I definitely feel that these guys took the time and extra effort to do a good job for me and meet my goals the best they can! Very happy with Eco Tec and my team : ) read more

I have to admit that I had some reservations due to some of the negative reviews, but like with restaurant reviews, I factored in the facts that some negative reviews are emotionally charged and written while people are angry; sometimes things get exaggerated; some people are simply unfair; and sometimes jobs simply don't go well. Other times, expectations are not discussed and therefore not met, leading to a negative experience. I'm glad that we decided to hire Eco Tec Insulation. Brian came to inspect our attic and sent us a price promptly for spraying open cell insulation over the underside of the attic roof. We ended up asking him to return a second time to review the scope before making the final decision to hire Eco Tec. We had a couple of extras, the additional cost of which seemed fair. The installers, led by a friendly guy named Peter, did a very good job spraying and cleaning up after themselves. Based on our experience, I would don't hesitate to recommend Eco Tech for your insulation job. read more

Eco Tec Insulation was hired to complete a tedious and uncomfortable job in my home, which they did complete to a degree of satisfaction. Unfortunately there was a theft on the job site, that was approximately $12,000 worth of jewelry. Most notably an irreplaceable antique engagement ring. Upon reporting the disappearance to Eco Tec to the salesman who sold me the services, I was never contacted again. Not to collect information or details, nor to resolve, compensate, or even apologize about the theft. The lack of concern or empathy in dealing with this problem confirmed that Eco Tec as a company lacks integrity, honesty, or even common decency. I would not recommend this company except to the police to investigate, which I have subsequently done. read more

Josh calls me 10 mins after the time he should have shown up to tell me that he's an hour away. But that's not the reason I'm writing this, it's more to do with price gouging. I have a 1400sqft ranch that needs blow-in insulation in the attic. I've had several quotes around $2,500 to $4,000. So why are they quoting me $5,400? I live in Schaumburg, so it's not like I'm out in the sticks. So why are they so expensive. Seems like they are either price gouging or they just didn't want to do the job and gave me a super high quote. Not cool either way. read more

I started this project right before Covid hit. A friend of mine did a large project & had great things to say about Brian & EcoTec. When I was ready, I called for an estimate on to do my entirr attic. Brian spoke with me about details & quickly got me an estimate. He walked me thru the process Answered any question. Then Covid hit & I got laid off. Once I was back working, I contacted Brian again. He was as friendly as before & he even remembered my project. He didn't gouge me or make excuses trying to raise the cost. He still honored the original quote!!! He even let me picked the date. Stacey in the office helped me with paperwork, scheduling & payment. She was friendly, patient & helpful, I was eager to get rolling, so I asked if he could squeeze me in the next week & they did. On installation day the 3 man team were on time, friendly and professional. First thing the foreman looked over my project & answered my many questions. They were my second company that I got an estimate from. They told me my attic had no insulation (not true- there is some) and that the good news was I wouldn't need to be charged to haul out any old insulation since there is none up there. They didn't suggest that we insulate the pull down ladder door to the attic, or insulate the ductwork that was leaking cold air. When asked about these things the guy said that's not necessary if you blow it in. When I saw the quote, there was a charge to removal of old insulation (which doesn't even need to be removed plus the guy acted like we had none up there to begin with!) and they're quote was over a grand more than the company I had also had an estimate from. So we didn't go with them. Also didn't like how they never called to confirm the appointment (I had to call them to make sure they were coming). read more

We picked Eco-Tech over another company who wanted to charge us twice as much. We found out why. Eco-Tech workers applied the closed cell spray foam insulation extremely unevenly in the walls of our addition, varying as much as 1" less than the promised 3." In the ceiling, it was nearly 2" less than the 5" promised. But even worse was the lack of protection of the toxic spray. They hung a single clear plastic sheet between the room being insulated and the rest of the house that wasn't even secure all the way around. Moving air blew the fumes under and around. Then right when they were done, they took down the little protection they had supplied rather than leave the up for the recommended 24 hours while the insulation was drying. After they left and we saw what they'd done, we grabbed a heavy moving blanket and nailed it up around the opening to try to prevent any more fumes from escaping into the house where we could breathe it. NOT GOOD! read more

Let me just say that I hate writing these reviews.....But, sorry, Eco Tec....My time is valuable. I scheduled an appointment for noon on a weekday a couple weeks ago. I proceeded to feed my child around 11:45AM that day, realizing that our kitchen is towards the back of the house and my little one was watching some cartoons. My dad walks in at 10 minutes past noon holding a business card from Eco Tec that he found wedged in btw the screen door....Wait, what the....?!? I didn't hear a damn thing from the door bell or my phone. I rang my doorbell a bunch of times to make sure it was working and it was just fine. I would have heard it no problem. So I call the guy at 12:15 and what do you know? He's already left the area. NO phone call to my phone?!?! He tells me he will try and make it back later in the afternoon, but doesn't call me back until the following day in the afternoon?!?! Sorry Eco Tec, but if your policy isn't to at least try and contact a potential customer on the phone if they aren't answering the door, then you're going to run into a lot of issues trying to obtain business. If you live in the Northbrook area, I recommend American Insulation. read more

Holy Moly - this is such a great product! I've compared our gas bill from the same period last year, and it's down $200. The therms used last year were 226, this year 112. That's less than half! And, last year, we were freezing with the heat set at 72, this year, we're sweating if it's over 67. Tom was very punctual about answering all of our questions each time we called, or returning calls within a few hours. Also, Tom made sure we had all the info to get our rebates for this work from Peoples Gas. Eco tec came Monday morning around 8:30am. They set up the attic, taped up the windows and brought the hose into the attic. Around 10am they told us they had to run to Crafty B***** because the hose was broken, and they were going to try to fix it. By 11:30 they told us the bad news, they couldn't fix the hose, and would have to come back tomorrow. Tuesday, they arrived at 11am, right when they said they would. They brought the hose from the truck, through the kitchen window, and straight up into the attic. The job took about 4 hours to complete. The workers were very professional, and cleaned everything up. They shaved off insulation that was past the beams, to make it easier for us to hang the drywall.
