Ecotec did roughly $18k of spray foam work for me in the past five years. Great work and very economical. But I needed more work this year and Ecotec's responsiveness has gone into the toilet. It is frustrating to email extensive details of the requirements only to have several emails and phone calls go unanswered. Holy Moly - this is such a great product! I've compared our gas bill from the same period last year, and it's down $200. The therms used last year were 226, this year 112. That's less than half! And, last year, we were freezing with the heat set at 72, this year, we're sweating if it's over 67. Tom was very punctual about answering all of our questions each time we called, or returning calls within a few hours. Also, Tom made sure we had all the info to get our rebates for this work from Peoples Gas. Eco tec came Monday morning around 8:30am. They set up the attic, taped up the windows and brought the hose into the attic. Around 10am they told us they had to run to Crafty B***** because the hose was broken, and they were going to try to fix it. By 11:30 they told us the bad news, they couldn't fix the hose, and would have to come back tomorrow. Tuesday, they arrived at 11am, right when they said they would. They brought the hose from the truck, through the kitchen window, and straight up into the attic. The job took about 4 hours to complete. The workers were very professional, and cleaned everything up. They shaved off insulation that was past the beams, to make it easier for us to hang the drywall. Superior product, great customer service. Use them! read more

I was lucky to find Brian and his team through a recommendation of a friend. I was impressed with their knowledge and recommendation of insulation as I needed it in my basement. Brian came over beforehand, took a look at the space and made recommendations. A portion of what I needed was to sound proof a room, his recommendation did the job! BAD BAD BAD experience. They removed 80 percent of drywall in our garage and never told us we need to get our own drywall contractor. So we spent an additional $950 to complete the work they never did. They lied and said only a section of drywall would be removed. They are not organized and don't work as professionals. I called for an estimate and scheduled an appointment for 5pm. No one ever showed up and I never got a call telling me that they would cancel. I had to cancel some other appointments to be ready for the Eco Tech technician. Very unprofessional and I would NOT recommend. read more

After actually calling and conducting a follow-up with them I was told it was due to a technical issue, however when I called prior to that I was told my file was right in front of her. I've dealt with eco tec in the past and was completely satisfied. However, a lot must have changed (for the worse) over the past few years. I had the entire 2nd floor spray foamed in 2011 for $1,200; about 800 sq ft. You can imagine my shock when I was recently quoted $2,400 to insulate less than 1/2 the square footage (kitchen, bedroom, and small hall) of the 1st floor. Of course this time there was a salesman involved and not the owner as was several years ago. I guess growth will cause that. After literally laughing in his face, explaining AND SHOWING the receipt for the other job, he said he would talk to the owner. The following day he called and said the best they could do was $1,200 as prices had gone up. Well, I can understand 10, 20, even 50% in 7+ years but more than 400% is just highway robbery! And how can you have the nerve to play inflation when in less than 24 hours you could cut the quote in half!? Sorry, but I will NEVER do business with eco tec or recommend them to my worst enemy, let alone family and friends. read more

I've been researching and obsessed with how to finish our rubble foundation basement for years (the last remaining part of our total gut rehab), without having to worry about water or mold down the road. It's been YEARS of periodic research. It's been stressing me out. After poring over builders' forums, BuildingScience.com (great resource), etc. I figured out a great approach where I wouldn't have to worry about water penetration, mold, etc. A big component of that was closed cell spray foam insulation. So I had a few companies come in and give bids and provide some suggestions -- I already knew how I wanted to do this from all the prior research, but I kept quiet to see what each company had to say. When Michael Pinsler for Ecotech came out, I could tell right away these guys knew what they were doing and had the right experience. I had a few remaining questions and he researched past jobs with others in the company and came back to me with answers. I got their bid early on and so we kept in touch over calls and texts on and off over a few months while the basement buildout was progressing. We got the date set and contract signed (with Stacy who was also very helpful and easy to work with) and they showed up early on the scheduled day. It was a big job and took most of the day. Midday, Michael called to check in on how things were going. That evening, I took a walk through and saw some spots I thought should be touched up but they seemed so minimal that I really didn't want to have the guys waste the time to come back. Michael said they could send me over a can and to call Stacy to arrange, but when I did, she instead insisted they come back next morning, which they did and really made sure everything was 100%. I was also pretty concerned about off gassing, but Michael helped put me at ease and true to his word, after 3 days, there was NO scent whatsoever. Totally inert. And Michael again called unprompted a few days later to make sure everything was good. Overall experience was start to finish everything I could hope for. The insulation is great -- it's warmer in the basement than the main level now. We've had rain a few times since installation and there's no musty smell at all, even without the dehumidifier running (deliberately to test this). So we know the moisture is sealed outside of the vapor barrier that the closed cell provides. No health concerns. Everything completed as scheduled and great support along the way. And the price was VERY competitive, nearly half that of other reputable companies that I wasn't as impressed by (re: depth of knowledge). Easy 5 stars from me, would recommend to anyone! read more

We are so happy with the job done by Eco Tech. Last year we had our entire upstairs done. They arrived on time & finished the work on time covering all of my floors. The space had no dry wall so cavities were filled. Improved the warmth tremendous for the winter. This year we had the lower floor done. Again cavities were bare and filled completely. This crew was different from last year and they did an even better job. Last year I had to take down their plastics but this year place was cleaned up perfectly. Again the difference in temperature is huge and I know we will save on heating bills. We can't wait to do the attic & crawl space. We love this company and have already provided referrals. I noticed a comment of theft on this page. Frankly I was concerned because I forgot to bring my jewelry and left about $15k of it behind and visible. It was still there safe and sound upon my return! When I told him what I wanted he said, "why don't you tell me what to install since you're the expert." We used Eco Tec for installing insulation in our insulation-less walls in our new condo. Kind of a bummer, but Brian was great to work with. The instalation itself was fast and they did a good job. Since we had existing walls in our home, not sure how the price compares to other spray-in installations, but I thought they were affordable on the whole. read more

Home Advisor sent me to these people. I spoke to Jacob and my first question was to make sure they would work on my non traditional dwelling type. He said absolutely and gave me a verbal (sight unseen) estimate. I said that was fine and he commented that he wanted to make sure I could afford it so I didn't waste his time......I let that slide and texted him my info so that we could set up an appointment for them to come out & give a firm estimate. I didn't hear back so I texted him again to get an idea of when they could come out. He called me back and said that the "bosses" are on vacation and he's waiting for them to come back so that he can confirm whether they're willing to do the job on my dwelling type before he "wastes any time" coming out for the estimate. (Isn't that the first thing we discussed??!?) He said he wanted to come out next week which is fine. I said that if he came on a weekday I could leave him access to see the job but that I wouldn't be available to speak to him. I asked if they ever have weekend hours instead (so that I could be available) and he snapped at me that he hasn't had a weekend off in months so absolutely not because he needs is time. I'm sorry, no would have been enough. And also, why are other customers worthy of weekend appointments but not me? This is a fantastic product! We had this company spray when we did an addition. We were so pleased with the product and the results showed in our utility bills. Our new construction home exhibited some serious cold air infiltration during our first winter in the house. I sought three or four bids from various insulation companies. Only Eco Tec had an idea to solve the problem. They arrived punctually to conduct the work, they performed with great care and neatness, and most impressively, they followed up to ensure quality and satisfaction. Two thumbs down. Ecotech used open foam instead of the closed foam as was written in on our contract. They overfilled the garage ceiling and the hvac ducts were pushed down from pressure of foam. We got a little discount for their error but had to hire another company to fix what Eco Tec messed up. Thousands of dollars wasted. It was an expensive disappointing experience. read more

When a neighbor asked if we had any experience with spray insulation, I was embarrassed that I had neglected to submit a review for Eco Tec in July when we had then insulate our home. I narrowly missed the opportunity to warn my neighbors and figured it was high time to share via Yelp! To say we were really disappointed is an understatement ... there is zero communication between the guy making the sales (Jacob) and the guys doing the work. Plus, the two said some not very nice things about the other, which didn't exact present a united front to me, the customer. Our experience was terrible, and key points include: * During our consult, Jacob said not to bother removing furniture as they would cover everything with plastic for easy clean up. Our furniture and floors were absolutely coated in sticky drywall dust - the mess was so terrible it made me cry. We spent hours mopping and vacuuming and are still finding dust 2 months later. * Jacob said all rooms not impacted by the foam would be livable - also false. The guys need to walk in and out and tracked dirt and dust throughout our home every day. The dust got into the vents and sprayed all over other rooms not worked on. * The job was supposed to take a day. When the equipment (spray gun) broke, they claimed they had to leave early to go back to home base and wouldn't call in another truck. They were in our home for two days and on day 2 showed up 2.5 hours late. When I called - repeatedly - to ask why, I was told: traffic. * Because the job was delayed, we had to repeatedly reschedule our contractor to repair the drywall at additional cost to us and disruption to our lives. * The tech who did the work repeatedly told us Jacob had misquoted and we were getting a huge deal, as if compensating for all the issues we experienced with this "deal." * When I called the owner to complain about the dreadful service, he commented to me "Well, you have to understand, this is a work zone." Uh, no, it is OUR HOME, and your comment makes it clear how little you care. One bright spot is that they stuck to their quote, even after much additional time and effort. That's about all I can say that is even remotely positive. Avoid, avoid, avoid. read more

This company thinks my time is not worth squat. I set up an appt. for an estimate. No show. Excuse: Car was broken. I set up another appt. No show! Excuse: Couldn't find the heat sensor gun. Third attempt to get the estimate. This time Phil shows up!!! Nice guy- seemed knowledgeable, all is good. I gave him my email address and he said he'd send my estimate out. Phil came out in December and I still have no estimate. I even called after a month to ask if they were planning to send it. They said they would. Guess they forgot. I had a sunroom that was converted to a finished room that needed insulation underneath. James came out and I signed a contract for $900 of 5.5 inches of open cell insulation. This was in November 2014. The day they were supposed to come - no one showed and no one called. I called and they took $100 off the amount. They came out 2 weeks later and did "some open and some closed cell" underneath. It was erratically put on. Some places there were 1.5 inches of open cell with no closed cell over it. The closed cell shrank away from the walls and the partitions underneath the floor. I asked James a couple of times to meet me out there and explain to me why this was done and what my concerns were. He stated he would check on it, take pictures and show them to the owner. This was in February 2015. I never heard anything back. I get a letter in the mail asking for payment May 6th. I called and asked to speak with the owner and James. No one responded. I paid the $350 left of the balance of $450. I would NEVER use them - EVER! They didn't care about my job. They changed the terms of the contract without notifying me or explaining anything to me. It seemed like they gave me the leftovers from other jobs. Don't use these people. Don't you love when everything goes as it should? Yeah, me too! James came out and we walked through my house looking at the thermo imaging camera. He explained what to look for and what he saw. Just as I suspected there was 0(no) insulation in the basement. Also, there was an addition to the house where the floor was always cold. James remained in contact with me throughout the process. We were able to schedule very quickly which I appreciated and the two gentlemen did an excellent job. They taped up everything and cut the sheetrock almost perfectly. They had to do this due to the depth of my walls (I have about a 6 inch gap from the sheetrock and studs to the exterior wall in my basement. Usually they can go in through tiny holes from the outside and you don't even know they were there. Again this was all explained to me in the beginning. They installed the foam quickly and cleaned up well. They even asked if I wanted them to leave the plastic as I would need to sand down the spackle for the sheetrock. I chose to have them take it down. It was very nice that they asked. James called me after they left and asked how it went. Now that is service! They did a great job. I only wish I could afford to have them do my attic. Maybe before next winter. read more

I had Eco Tec Insulate my attic, at first I was hesitant to use spray foam insulation but after a conversation with Brian I changed my mind. The crew that came out were very professional, neat and respectful of my home. I had prices for traditional insulation but the small difference between the two made my decision a no brainer. The same night after the insulation being installed we felt a huge difference in temperature!!!! My kids are no longer asking for extra blankets and my furnace is no longer kicking off and on!! I shopped around for a foam spray company to insulate my entire garage, both ceiling and walls, as my kids' bedrooms are located directly above the garage. Prior to the project, the garage was frigid and so too were the floors and walls in my kids' bedrooms. Michael Pinsler (Eco Tec Rep) came out and was very thorough in listening to the problem, discussing possible options and maintaining contact throughout the entire process. I used another insulation company (1 year ago) to foam spray my basement and a few areas in my attic, although the attic needs to be completely redone and appropriately foam sprayed. I will definitely be using Eco Tec for this project, which should be around March or April of 2016. I bought my house about 1 year ago and have been dealing with contractors left and right, but Eco Tec staff (i.e. office & field) have followed through and stood by everything they said. Ecotec sprayed in foam insulation in our condo which per the contract was to fill each cavity entirely. After many months we noticed pitting on a custom mirror. When Creative Mirrors came out to see the mirror, when they removed it the back was covered in mold. When our drywall contractor came to replace the moldy drywall we discovered, and have a video to prove it, that Ecotec in fact did NOT fill the cavity. We could see the foam was about two feet short of the ceiling height. Per the manufacturer of the insulation product, if the cavity isn't filled, air will not allow the product to cure properly which is why there was moisture that created the mold. Ecotec did pay for the mirror replacement, but they will not refund us the money we have spent to to repair and paint our walls from the holes they made to spray in the insulation. The video also shows all the gaps and cracks in the insulation which defeats the whole purpose of soundproofing. Ecotec offered to come and fill the cavities, but we would be responsible to pay again for repairs to our walls. No thank you....we have already wasted $4600 and at this point we will have to pay to have all the insulation removed from our wall cavities before we can insulate with another product that would work. We would not trust Ecotec to do anything. read more

Nice guy that did our quote, but He wouldn't leave the room so my spouse and I could discuss what we wanted to do. Eventually we ended up making a purchase because we just felt pressured and once the sales consultant left we later discussed what just happened and agreed that what we got was way too pricey and just not in our budget at the time. So I emailed our sales consultant the very next day because you only have 3 days to cancel. Well I didn't hear back from him all day so I called his cell phone when I got off work and let me tell you....he was extremely rude & short with me. He said yeah he got my email he didn't have time to bother with it but will get it taken care of later and hung up. If that's how they treat their customers then I want no part of that company!!! Plus I also found out that he lied to me saying last night was his last night in our area when I called the toll free number she told me that he was in a town that was 20 minutes away from me. Ugh!
