While other assessors came across with a salesman approach, Jim was super practical and realistic from the start about my options. Like I was initially set on getting cellulose for my attic, but Jim pointed out some limitations given the age and construction of my home (condo built in the 1970s). He mentioned examples of older places with cellulose developing issues like sagging ceilings. No other assessor mentioned this, so deciding to work with Jim was an easy choice. He was honest and only recommended what worked best for my situation. As of writing this review, it's been over 2 weeks since his crew came and completed both air sealing and insulation. Reached out to Jim as they were on the approved vendor list for our gas company; you have to use an approved vendor to get rebates for certain weatherization work. We have an upstairs bedroom that seems to run hotter and colder than downstairs by 5 degrees. Jim responded quickly over Yelp and came out for a free estimate. He was professional but also took the time to point out the various attributes of our home that are working well or may not be working well. Always a great sign when the person doing the estimate can help educate you along the way. In the end, he gave us some quick actions that we can try taking on our own to address the situation. The kitchen in our new home was several degrees colder than the rest of the house and the floor was freezing in the winter. I quickly realized there was no insulation in the crawl space underneath. I found Energy 360 Solutions from the approved contractor list on the Nicor website. I got multiple quotes for closed cell spray foam for the crawl space but went with them because the price was competitive and Jim was great throughout the process. Very honest! I called Energy360Solutions to have someone come out for an assessment of our 1926 dutch colonial. The old windows on the front of the home have condensation when it's very cold. We had insulation blown in about 30 years ago but I was concerned that perhaps it had settled and needed to be readdressed. There is a lot of dead airspace. Jim the owner was able to come out the next day and check things out. He used his infrared camera and said that the insulation was fine but that it was most likely the old wooden windows/storms. He also went up into the attic and that was also adequately insulated. His said adding more insulation wouldn't do much and that it would be a waste of money. How often do you run into a company that recommends doing nothing? I truly appreciated his honesty and would hire them based on that. read more

Three years ago, I was referred to this company through the preferred network of Com Ed and Jim from Energy360 Solutions came out and assessed my situation. I was always experiencing a 5 to 7 degree temperature difference upstairs from downstairs due to poor attic insulation. After having the insulation installed in my attics, the temperature difference between upstairs and downstairs is negligible. What a difference having good insulation in your attic can make; lower cooling and heating bills and almost no difference between upstairs and downstairs temperature. And after three years, I had a minor issue with the ceiling below my attic in my utility room but Jim came out and had his workers correct this within a couple of days and at no charge. Even though they did not do work on our house, I am moved to recommend this business for Jim's "big picture" perspectives and integrity. I initially found Energy360 through the approved list of contractors for the energy rebate program available through our energy provider, and cross-referenced Yelp before making the decision to call them, because I only want to deal with the best. ;) I was able to set up an appointment easily for a free estimate on insulating our second floor and attic space. We had been told during our buyer's inspection that there wasn't any insulation on our top floor. We certainly felt it this past summer (hot box), and were feeling it as the weather cooled (ice box). Naturally, I thought that adding insulation would help with the comfort level of our 2nd floor, but it turns out it might not be the case. Jim assessed our minimal attic space, the current insulation situation (which turns out there was some), and concluded that adding more insulation would not necessarily help our situation. He noticed that the air blowing from our central system was not sufficient on the top floor -- that our temperature issues were more strongly tied to our HVAC vs. insulation. Jim took the time to inspect more than just our walls/attic. He also had the integrity to tell us that the answer to our problem was not necessarily more insulation. He did not want to take our money just for the sake of completing a project -- he actually cared and pointed us to a better solution, even if it wasn't his company. That left an impression on me. Energy360 was reasonable, thorough, knowledgeable, and clear about their hypothesis and possible ways to solve the problem depending on what they discovered inside the walls. Crew came out on time and was efficient and clean. Showed me work as they went along. Jim came back out to inspect/resolve one area that appeared to need a touch up. They seem to stand behind their work and I've noticed a consistently warmer upstairs by a couple degrees this winter since the work was completed. I'm very pleased with the work done by Jim and his crew at Energy360. I found these guys on ComEd's list of preferred contractors. Jim's quote was very reasonable and he knew all about the rebates that I might qualify for through ComEd/Nicor energy efficiency programs. On Jim's recommendation, we had blown-in insulation added to our attic and spray-foam installed in the crawlspace below our kitchen. Three guys came out to do the work - Freddie, Vincent and Mike. These guys were so nice, cleaned up behind themselves, made sure I understood everything. Before starting the work, they did a blower door test, to see how leaky my house was. Then they installed the insulation and sealed cracks in the attic, insulating the attic hatches too. When they were done, they repeated the blower door and they had decreased my house's leakiness by 30%!! I'm already feeling the cozy effects of the insulation, and we haven't needed to turn up our furnace even though it's been so cold this year! We have the thermostat set 4 degrees lower than we did last year, and we're perfectly comfortable! Also, in previous years we had ice dams and long icicles hanging off the eaves of our house...this year: not one! read more

I'm an unreasonable customer. I expect someone who wants my business to be willing to work with me. I expect them to show up when they say they are going to show up, have a cogent discussion, follow through on their commitments, and perform the work they said they'd do for the price they said they'd charge. I know - nuts, right? Energy 360 is equally crazy. I contacted multiple companies and told them "here is what I want, here is when I can talk about it, what time works for you?" I got 2 responses. One said, "need to talk to you before I show up." The other was Energy 360. I was contacted quickly, an appointment was arranged quickly. Jim showed up on time and proceeded to argue me out of a much more expensive solution because it wasn't the right one for what we needed. I got lots of bids and they all said the same thing: our attic needed lots of insulation. Energy360 stood out from the rest of the bidders.
