When I got my large picture window replaced, the team made sure to put covers on their shoes, left no mess, cleaned up and got rid of the old window. Other companies I recieved quotes from felt like I was working with a middle man like buying a car. The guy you talk too has no authority. Not with scientific home services. My family ordered 17 windows and a sliding patio door. Jon was really great to work with. He showed up on time and was super patient with answering all of our questions. We kept delaying the project and he was patient with that as well. The team did a great job installing and cleaning up. They did measure our patio door wrong so when they came to install the door with the windows, turns out it didn't fit. So we did have to wait a while longer for them to custom order another door and come and install and clean up. But it all went fine in the end. I am leaving a second review for this company. After they installed new windows in July we had a hornet problem. we thought they were coming in through the windows. Scientific sent Victor to check. Victor was exceptionally kind, patient, and thorough in his diagnosis of the problem. After adding additional weather stripping, he found that the hornets were coming in through the wall outlet. I had a fantastic experience with Scientific Home Services (SHS) from start to finish. I was looking to replace all 11 double-hung windows in my 4th-floor condo and checked several different services before deciding to get a quote from SHS, largely because of their many excellent reviews. Jon came out to my home and sized everything up, and walked me through both the available products and the process of window build and installation. As I was only having the windows replaced, there was no need for new framing, and thus also no need for a permit (Jon knew everything and was happy to answer my many questions). Jon was able to explain the differences in products and helped me select one that would be a great fit for my needs. The process of ordering and paying was simple. Once ordered, the windows took about 8 weeks to be built, delivered, and installed. The installation was frankly incredible to watch. The two gentlemen that came and did the installation were very professional and efficient. The installation occurred on a cold November day. The installers removed all the old windows and installed the new windows in less than a day. Everything was well cleaned after installation and they patched a small ding that they caused in my bathroom wall. The windows themselves are incredible. My old builder-grade windows circa 1996 were beginning to literally fall apart, and the difference has been so incredibly noticeable. The noise in my unit has dramatically reduced, and there is no longer any notable airflow through windows except in the strongest of winds. The operation of the windows is easy and smooth. Incredible service. It's rare to find true 5 star service in construction in my experience. We had a leaky sliding glass door with a transom and it took a little work to find someone who works with transoms. We got several quotes and while all 3 had great reviews, professional sales people, and similar price points (outside of Apex which was double!), we eventually went with Scientific even though they were marginally higher in price (I'm talking less than 10%) because of their great warranty and the fact that we met with the owner of the company for the quote. Door was ordered and came very quickly, and we set up installation for a few days later. I left for work and asked my partner to call me when they finished. When I got a call 2 hours later I assumed there was a complication, but no- they were done! I was floored at how fast they worked and we love the new door and wish we'd have done it sooner! You know it's time to replace your windows when you see the curtains moving because of the outside wind! Scientific HomeServices came promptly to assess the situation. I needed 16 windows replaced.The estimate was very fair and they did NOT try to sell me more than I needed. For example they told me only the glass and not the frame of the bay window needed replacing. So honest!The windows were ready sooner than others had told me. Because they knew I had a limited time for the work they sent out the whole crew and were done in less than half a day. Everything was cleaned up and they even replaced my blind hardware. It was the first time I could remember that I didn't have to ask someone to return because of incomplete work! The windows are beautiful and open easily. I have definitely found the perfect window repair service in Chicago! I am selling my condo, which is in a high rise downtown, and the inspection called for repairing or replacing the sash balancers (I guess they were sticking). I contacted several window companies to get an estimate. One did not respond. Another said I had to get the sash balancers replaced (at $800 per window) after sending photos and the inspection repairs. Victor from Scientific Home Services responded called and said the job was easy and would come out the next week to take a look... Well, I just left my condo after Victor's service call. He explained that the windows just needed some lubrication. He sprayed all four window sash balancers with some silicone spray and lickety split the windows were working with ease. He only charged me their service call fee, which is $120. This pails in comparison to $800 per window! I asked him about replacing the sash balancers and he said that they typically run $80 each and so the whole job for four windows (with labor) would be much less than the other company's quote. Thank you for the excellent service and honesty! I greatly appreciate it and am looking at Scientific Home Services for window repair at our new home. read more

From start to finish, Scientific did a great job with providing us an estimate, coming out to measure and ensure that they are ordering the correct windows, to a very well done installation. Only reason for 4 stars is that we had to call a few times before getting a response on teh status of our windows, which we found out were delayed by teh shupplier. Fifteen years ago, they were great, they made the thermal glass to replace the ones i needed for my old early '80s aluminum windows. The only company in Chicago that could make that specific thickness I needed without having to replace the entire windows. Fantastic. Today; I needed six thermal glass for for windows in my new home and since they are on the 2nd floor, to have them installed (as they said on their website). I was told they don't make glass anymore, just sell windows. That I should call a glass company (but who would install them? I was calling to get all-in-one service). Another example I guess of how America doesn't make things or repair old things. So I'll be getting my glass from Chicago Tempered and hiring a local handyman. Two steps, but I'll get to keep my old wooden windows and that'll be worth it. read more

We replaced all the windows on our first and second floors (14 total) with Climate Solutions vinyl windows. The old windows were original construction (70 years old) single-pane windows so our house was drafty even during mild winters. The difference after installation was night and day: cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter, and our utilities bills decreased. Everyone at Scientific Home was extremely professional. They were honest during our initial consultation and reliable when it came time to install. We have an infant in our home, so we were especially concerned about lead exposure, but they couldn't have been more careful about covering our furniture and cleaning when they were done. Around 9 months later the caulk seal around some of the windows had shrunk and began letting in cool air, but Victor offered to come out same day to fix it at no charge. Pricing was fair and competitive. Almost a year later, we're 100% satisfied with the windows and service provided by SH and I'll continue recommending them to everyone I can. read more
