I inquired about the mid-level line and John provided his input on why he didn't think they were really worth the additional investment. John's pricing was straightforward. There was no "oh you get a Yelp discount" or "oops I forgot to add a window to your quote, I'll throw that in for free." It was refreshing to talk to a non-pushy company for once. Yeah, sure, they look nice, but on windy days, I had to close the windows out of fear they would turn into sails and get ripped from the frames. On rainy days, I was unable to leave a few windows slightly open in order to get some air movement (casement windows open from top to bottom, if you are unfamiliar with the term). When the windows were open, people could easily see the windows were open (hey, I live in Chicago, we worry about crime here in the big bad city). Worse, as the house settled, window after window became unusable. I finally made the decision to replace the casement windows with double hung, and after I spoke to some other firms -- including one that sent over the most "salesy," gimmick-laden salesperson I ever encountered, you've probably seen their TV ads (I had to ask him, repeatedly, to leave, and I needed an hour to get him to go, truly awful) -- I was delighted I made a call to Chicago Window Guys. The owner, Russ, was the salesperson who came to my house. Now we're talking...I like doing deals with the final decision maker. His approach was what I expected: He was on time and got straight to business. No salesy talk, no gimmicks, he simply asked a few questions, took some measurements, and made notes as I explained what I wanted and what windows were to be replaced. He explained a few options to me, answered my questions...we hammered out the price, and cut the deal right then and there. When I'm treated right, I'm a salesperson's dream. He got the deal, and I sent a check a few days later after we finalized the contract. He sent his measurement guy a few days later, he took detailed measurements, made a few more notes, and sent the order to be fulfilled. Now, this is part of the reason why CWG won the deal: they make their windows onsite, here in the Chicago area. They are not a reseller. They are not a distributor for someone else. They fabricate their own product. That cuts out the middleman, to use an overused cliche, which means they offer a superior product at less than what other resellers charge. Two months later, my windows were done, and after false start due to rain (not CWG's fault, obviously), they installed the entire order in one day. That's 7 windows upstairs, 10 windows downstairs, plus the sliding door in the master bedroom, and the sliding door and transom in the family room. One day. The crew was on time, got right to work, and did a fantastic job. They even managed to take down my blinds, then reinstalled them when the work was done. They didn't have to do that, but they did. The cleaned up their work, sealed the windows on the inside and outside...and left. Absolutely first class. I am 100% satisfied with the work and the final product. Russ's crew delivered a great product and provided great service. That salesy, gimmick-laden company, by the way, initially quoted three times what I paid CWG. If you want to be annoyed and ripped off, go with the guys on TV. If you want a quality product at a fair price, go with Chicago Window Guys.

Since then, I've noticed water streaks on both sides of the new window after rain -- something that never happened with my old windows. This makes me question the quality of the installation. On top of that, after the windows were replaced, I found a lot of broken glass left all over my front yard. It was clear that no tarp was used to catch the debris, and I had to clean it up myself. For a professional installation, I expected much better care and attention to detail. Only one man handled the installed the window at the end, the others came and left which may have contributed to the sloppy work. Overall, I'm disappointed with the experience and the results.

I called them and they were able to send Oscar out right away. They told me to save 60 -90 min for the consultation, which seemed like a lot of time considering every other company just needed 5-10 min of my time. However, i was willing to invest the time for the right doors and right price. Oscar and i met for over an hour. He was super friendly and knowledgeable about all my door options. He brought along a presentation (via his ipad), as well as materials so we got it all done within that hour. The other companies took a lot less, but resulted in a few trips to my house and lots of back and forth via email. I honestly probably prefer the latter since less time all at once. In the end I went with a different company due to price, but thought this company offered a good product at competitive pricing so would be worth looking into them.

After the install, I had a question about one of the windows since it looked like there was a small crack at the top corner and they sent someone out to look at it right away. It turned out it was just some glue residue that was attached on the inside of the window that made it look like a crack and was easly scraped off with a razor blade. From the beginning, Robert stood out because of his extensive knowledge of ProVia products, window installation, and the industry as a whole. He took the time to answer my questions and explain my options, which gave me confidence that I was making the right decision. The installation itself presented an unexpected challenge when the crew discovered that my original windows had virtually no existing frame. They had to build new framing, which required additional lumber, but it was the right solution and not entirely unexpected given the age of my home. I was also impressed that the team completed the installation of my second-floor condo in under five hours without using scaffolding. They also went above and beyond by concealing some unattractive roof flashing that had always bothered me, which made a noticeable difference in the finished appearance. The final result looks fantastic. I've received numerous compliments from neighbors and even other contractors on both the style of the new windows and the quality of the installation. No project is without a few hiccups, and I did have a handful of post-installation issues. Shortly after installation, the secondary bottom lock on the sliding door would not engage, the screen needed adjustment, and the door required more effort than expected to close and lock. Robert personally came out, adjusted the sash and locking mechanism, and the door now glides effortlessly and locks exactly as it should. On another visit, Robert replaced a weatherstripping bulb seal on one of the casement windows that had been manufactured too long and wasn't sealing properly. He also cleaned adhesive residue that had been left on the exterior glass after installation. While the cleanup inside and around the work area was very good, the adhesive marks on the outside of a second-floor window were difficult for me to access, so I appreciated that he came out promptly to take care of them. Overall, my only suggestion would be a more thorough quality-control inspection immediately following installation. While I understand that new windows and doors may need minor adjustments after settling into the home, catching a few of these items before the project was considered complete could have eliminated a couple of return trips. What truly sets Window Door Pro apart is Robert's commitment to customer service. He stood behind his work, responded quickly to every concern, and made sure everything was corrected to my satisfaction. It's refreshing to work with a company that doesn't disappear after the installation. I would confidently recommend Window Door Pro to anyone looking for quality products backed by exceptional service.
