Overall, I am happy with the service because we got new windows that work great--they open and close very smoothly, they are energy efficient, and are already keeping the house temp more stable. Waaaaayyyy better than what we had. The quote process was very helpful--Joe was very attentive to my emails/texts, replied almost immediately, and was pleasant to work with. I was surprised how cute the egress window looks. Pic here just to show it off. They were also able to finish all the work in one very long day. They arrived a bit late around 9:40am and left just after 8pm. I was happy that they were able to complete all the work in one day as I was expecting two days of work. They definitely worked very hard, and I appreciate it. But as you'll read below, I think they were rushed to just get the job done and leave. I cannot give 5 stars though because I felt very uneasy about the mess that was left. -There was debris left on our porch (see pic) which I just find unacceptable, especially in my home with a 2 year old. -I also noticed black smudging on some windows and perhaps the same black material actually coming out of one of the windows (see pics). I was hoping for super clean windows upon installation but I see that it's really just about installing--I'll need to clean them myself. -Small debris was found in other areas too like in my garden beds (I suppose how are they supposed to clean that up unless they laid down a blanket beforehand) and in the creases of our front door. -They also did not tell us we would need to remove a curtain hook we have on the side of our windows and I realized afterwards that they took it off themselves because they stripped the screw and put it back in backwards. -I've noticed that the caulking is not consistent throughout. Some windows have caulking in every corner, some are missing a corner or two. No idea if there would be a reason for the differences but I would have thought they'd be fully caulked. The patio door for the balcony in my condo was leaking in lots of air and needed to be replaced. It was the original one to the unit and was big and heavy and I'm on the third level. Had a great experience working with David and Patrick at Friendly Windows. They're not your average sales guys who are extremely pushy. They come in, evaluate what you need, listen to your concerns and come up with fair and honest proposals. I live in an HOA so the exterior has to be identical to what we currently have in terms of window design and David went above and beyond to ensure the collection of windows he was offering me matched exactly that. He provided many samples/examples of the type of window I would be getting so I could submit it to the HOA for approvals. Installation of the windows was fantastic. The guys prepped the area with drop clothes to ensure they didn't make a mess and spent two days installing my windows. Once they finished installing, they caulked and painted the interior trim and the windows came out better than I could have expected. David and Patrick were super friendly and professional when they visited my house and showed me samples of all the different options I had to choose from. They gave me a fair price and timeline to start work; and they were even able to begin a week earlier than anticipated. Ok work day, it was a full crew tearing down 17 windows over 90 years old, and replacing them with brand new dual pane windows...I was honestly afraid of how it would turn out but the windows ended up amazing!!!! They even maintained my old windows as they are stained glass antique and I plan to use them as decorations. The job was done in 48 hours (2 separate days required for curing), and their clean up team was phenomenal. Pros: 1. The Polish carpenter is an extremely skilled craftsmen. I had 3 custom made half-circle windows, one of which needed custom made front panel. He barely speak any English, but his sidekick, a high school son, speaks perfectly. I still can't wrap my mind around how they replaced one of my 3rd floor window from the inside. And another large half-circle window that cannot be brought up there from inside of the house to the roof. They did it with only two ladders. 2. The price is competitive. 3. John, the owner honors what the company promised verbally or in writing, even there were some wrinkles in the process. Cons: 1. The sale person (withholding the name) is very nice guy but I wish he would had been a little under promising but over delivering 2. It took way longer time than anticipated to finish replace 3 windows. Overall: If you are looking for high quality workmanship at a reasonable price, give them a try. I hired them to install and replace all windows at my parents home in Chicago about a month ago before the winter hits. Let me begin by saying how friendly and professional these folks were. I called in after someone referred them to me and asked them how quickly can they come and take care of these old nasty looking windows. The manager or owner I'm not sure who he was told me the very next day they will send someone to check it out since its a massive job. The person came the next day, on time and took a look at everything. He left and told me he will get back to me later that day with the details and price. After he called me a few hours later I received a quote and we set up a date for installation. They came over next week to do the project and after a long day they finished. I checked it all out and and looked awesome. My parents haven been living there for few weeks with the new windows and they couldn't be any happier. They offered to repair and save me the cost of a full replacement, but it was something I wanted to go the extra mile on for my tenants. I started working with this company at the beginning of the summer. It took about 3 months for us to get our actual windows replaced. We had two different people come measure three separate times. The guy we were dealing with assured me the team was familiar with working while the client isn't home. I was there to let in the team and the first thing they said was "Do you know where these go?" there was clearly no communication. They also brought two wrong windows. One was the wrong size and the other was not frosted when it was supposed to be. The guy came back while my boyfriend was home and I was gone and tried to blame me for the mishap on the frosted window and later tried to tell me I was in the wrong. I pulled up the original contract which confirmed we did order a frosted window. I decided to go with this company because their reviews were all five stars. I even fought with my landlord telling him we should go with Friendly Windows as opposed to another company. There were so many miscommunications on the company's end along with countless unexplained delays. (and trying to blame me for his mistake, which was ridiculous). This project was 4 windows and was supposed to take about a month to a month in a half from the time of measuring to window instillation. This took them from mid-July to October to complete. It was a lengthy process with some delays; however, David always made sure that our questions were addressed. We had three windows and a balcony door installed in our Chicago South Loop condo, and we are quite happy with the quality of these "Marvin" products as well as the professionalism of the installers. We did have some problems with excessive window and door condensation during the winter polar vortex, and David was quite helpful in facilitating a Marvin service visit. We recognize that this was an unusual weather event, but we do appreciate that a Marvin repairman promptly reviewed the condensation problem and offered some helpful recommendations. The sales man told me the windows that I ordered( double strength, and U factor exceeding Energy Star) were same high quality as windows sold by another company costing a lot more and not like cheap, low quality windows sold at a retail store and will be directly ordered to Andersen Window factory. The windows that the company installed were standard strength, U factor =0.29( below energy star) and not Energy Star certified. They also did not provide me with a written detailed description( such as window information stickers or order quote) until I complaint.
