I called to request a locksmith to unlock my friend's apartment because my luggage was inside, and I had a train to catch in about two hours. None of his roommates were home, awake, or answering their phones, so I was starting to panic a little. From the start, the staff were incredibly patient and kind. They gave me a reasonable quote right away and said they could have a technician there within an hour. The technician called me as soon as he was on his way, and his ETA was only 15 minutes! In the meantime, we found out that one of the roommates could come let us in. I called back to cancel, fully expecting to still pay a $89 service fee since the technician was already on his way and almost there. To my surprise, they told me not to worry about it and canceled everything at no charge! The entire experience was so easy, and every interaction was quick, friendly, and professional. Even though I ended up not needing their services, I was genuinely impressed by their kindness and customer service. Truly night and day compared to other locksmiths I've dealt with in the past. I would absolutely recommend them and will definitely be calling them again if I ever need a locksmith! read more

I was in desperate need of a new keyfob and I sent out quotes to multiple companies via yelp - Chicago Locksmiths was the first to call and they quickly set up a same day appointment within 1.5 hrs. Robert was in touch with me and quickly/efficiently set me up with a new keyfob. He was extremely nice, professional and knowledgeable. The whole ordeal couldn't have went smoother and he came to my apartment. He also went over specifics with the key fob, how to replace battery and other smaller details. Great experience and would do business again! read more

I sent out a free estimate request via Yelp and received far too many responses My primary, evidently probable Yelp Elite and Yelp All-Star review are based on Yelp and my communication with the owner Shay. Perhaps he is of Irish heritage, I never had the opportunity to find out 1) I have seen over 300 photographs of his work This man is the very BEST if you are only looking for a handyman or have no assistance from even an essentially useless husband in the paint or a long hair clogged shower drain 2) Shay is a LIAR I appreciate that he was willing to drive out to The suburbs of Chicago from all the way East in Logan Square His estimate is NOT free as Yelp guaranteed He requires photographs (easy peasy) of the locks as well as *$45* to even come out to take a look He broke the Yelp Guarantee right there Chicago Locksmiths should be banned from Yelp same as nobody should have voted for Trump. There were zero good choices but at least ond was NOT a babbling dementia suffering 90 yeat old 3) Shay claims the his primary concern is home and auto safety If that were actually true then with photos in hand he has zero reason to have a $45 fee to take a look I have zero reason to take issue with Shay - especially his quality of work All that I know is that Shay LIED to Yelp in order to gain business and if that works for him, then I do not give a fxck I shall not be used I have Elite and All-Star status that I EARNED with Yelp and followers Every single one of my Yelp reviews are shared with Google I sincerely hope that my review discourages anybody and everybody from hiring Chicago Locksmiths read more

I highly recommend Chicago Locksmiths. They were able to send someone exactly for the time I requested. Noah is amazing and super knowledgeable, and he was able to quickly diagnose the problems with 3 door locks. He fixed what needed to be fixed without trying to sell anything we didn't need. He's honest and takes great pride in his work, and I couldn't ask for anything better in a craftsperson. Great quality, fair pricing, and outstanding service! read more

I went to the Milwuakee Ave shop to get my key fob battery replaced which they did super quickly, and then insane timing - my car battery also died while I was parked out front. They jumped my car for me and also tightened a part on the battery that was loose. Lifesavers and would give them more stars if I could!! read more

Had someone come out to rekey three doors on the house instead of swapping out the handles and deadbolts. The whole job took about forty minutes, and having everything on a single key makes life a lot easier. Good communication and fair price. read more

Aedan responded to my Chicago Locksmith request within just a couple minutes. He arrived 20 minutes later, and was done in less than 10 minutes. Super easy and professional for a reasonable fee. I had earlier called another service that had an operator with no knowledge of the Chicago area who contacted a locksmith in another city! It's hard to know who to call in these situations. I'm glad I called Chicago Locksmith. read more

It started with needing to get a new car keyfob including programming to replace BOTH lost keyfobs (DON'T ASK!). Robert was the tech who promptly came to our home and did the work. Not only did he take care of this but also took the time to provide some tips about using the manual key embedded in the fob and demonstrated how to replace the battery. A real professional and a nice guy. I appreciated the service so much that shortly thereafter I called the company again when I needed the locks rekeyed in a house my wife and I just bought. This time Kurt was the tech. Again, he really knew his job and handled a couple of recalcitrant locks. Another great guy. I wonder if all of ChicagoLocksmiths employees are so good at what they do and pleasant, too! read more

I highly recommend Chicago Locksmiths. Their level of customer service and communication is excellent. I called them hoping for a same day appointment. It was late in the day because the original company I called was a no-show. Chicago Locksmiths said they could do it and gave me a same day time window. Excellent communication: The technician called me at the start of the time window to tell me he was on another job, but would be there within 2 hours. This allowed me to get on with my day rather than waiting by the window/the phone (as the other company had left me to do all day). The technician then called me when he had finished the previous job and gave me a time frame of when he would get to me. As it was quite late I decided to reschedule for the next day. The same evening Chicago Locksmiths called me to confirm a next day appointment time. On the morning of my appointment the new technician called to say he was on his way with an ETA for arrival and called when he reached me. The communication was excellent and meant I could do other things because I knew Chicago Locksmith was keeping me updated on the status of my appointment. For the appointment itself, the technician was great. Explained everything, gave me advice on one of the doors which was coming loose off the hinge. Re-keyed my lock quickly and cleaned up afterwards. I will certainly use Chicago Locksmiths again. Great service, and impeccable customer communication! read more

Had to get locks rekeyed same-day. Contacted this company thru Yelp, and got a quick response. We were scheduled for 4 pm the same day. Communication with the tech was great. Job was done correctly and swiftly. The price was fairly reasonable. $89 base fee, plus $60+ per lock rekeyed. Pretty good, for same day service. read more

Quick! Reasonably priced...I'm not sure what else you might want, but it was definitely the right choice for me.

Thanks for being so responsive! Our case actually wasn't as urgent, but they were able to send someone out same day to take care of our issue. read more

I asked for the free quote advertised all over the website, only to be asked to pay $125 ... not sure how that's a free quote, which makes me not trust you . read more

I had an excellent experience with Chicago Locksmith and was extremely pleased with the entire process and final results. Because my project involved a custom door replacement that required condo association approval, custom ordering, painting, lock placement, and installation, there were several phases involved. Throughout it all, the team remained professional, responsive, organized, and attentive to detail. Walter, the locksmith technician who handled the project from beginning to end, did an outstanding job. His workmanship, professionalism, and attention to detail truly stood out, and the finished result exceeded my expectations. Chicago Locksmith is lucky to have someone such as Walter that is extremely skilled, professional and pleasant to deal with. I also want to recognize the Chicago Locksmith office staff for their excellent customer service and communication throughout the process. Everyone was courteous, helpful, and a pleasure to work with. Overall, I highly recommend Chicago Locksmith for their professionalism, quality work, and outstanding service. read more

They came to repair a door/lock on my gate in my backyard. It was an iron frame that have gotten bent and was longer operable. The technician came within the scheduled window, and was able to straighten out a part of the iron latch. He gave me a good price since he didn't have to use any power tools. read more

I needed a nighttime emergency locksmith because I broke a house key off in the deadbolt. I called Chicago Locksmiths Logan Square and Nick got over to us super quickly and got us back in the house even quicker. He was friendly and knowledgeable and, frankly, a hero. 10/10 would use again! Thanks Nick! read more

Went here to get a second key fob starter for a car I recently purchased. The service in the store was great. The issue I had was that the people I communicated with beforehand did not perform well. They said the part I needed was in stock when it wasn't. The quoted price was also wrong. The store is difficult to park at. Limited street parking. They have no lot. Overall they did a good job programming the part. Only took 45 minutes! read more

As a follow-up to my recent comments, I am now satisfied with the resolution to the issue I had with the company. I received a call from Marisella in customer service on 7/3/2026. She explained that because my door frame was not a standard size, the company could not do the security door installation that I requested. Because I paid $128.75 for an estimate, but never received any anything in writing (or verbally), I was understandably upset. Marisella processed my refund and was extremely helpful in getting my issue resolved in a timely manner. My rating is now 5-stars based on her efforts. read more

Called them and they had someone dispatched within the hour. Got the lock opened (indoor door lock) so I couldn't be more pleased with the service! read more

Zack is a beast! My copied keys work better than the originals. And the price could not be beat...

Came out the same day. Did the job well. Next time I call, I will request Christian again.

They got the job done - they were able to create a remote key for my Hyundai, when no one else was able to.

Great experience! I called ahead, and they have an operator for the different locations. They confirmed that they could make a copy of the house key and the store hours. This location has street parking and an open lot across the street we used. The store attendant was attentive and helpful immediately and got my key made very quickly at a reasonable price. read more

Contacted them through Yelp to get a quote and got a response right away after hours. The very next day I had someone swing by in the rain to eyeball the project and then returned with the parts a couple of hours later. Very knowledgeable and while not cheap, I didn't feel overcharged. read more

Due to their highly rated reviews, I chose them to change my door locks. After giving the quotation, I specifically asked whether there was any extra cost, and then he said no. After everything has installed. The invoice showed transportation charge $75. Credit card charge another 3% or so. And then I found out that the color of the lock and the handle are different colors. Few hundred bucks for a less than $50 locks, with a different color handle. What a rip off! read more

The actual work performed on site by Mark B. was outstanding. He was so nice, so thorough, and extremely professional. He went above and beyond and I'd hire Chicago Locksmiths again if I knew I was working with him. 5 stars! I give a 2 stars review of the rest of the process (where Mark was not involved). I wanted to replace a lock which didn't meet code with a new lock - and get the other 3 existing locks rekeyed to match. The estimate came quickly and was clear. But the process broke down after that. I wanted guidance to determine what brand of new lock to buy that would be compatible with the remaining locks. The guidance provided by most of the office was not helpful and just frustrated me. One man told me to bring my keys to the Home Depot and compare them to new locks I wanted to buy - I balked at that overwhelming proposition - I'm not a professional locksmith, how would I know, that's why I called them. He then asked me to send photos of the locks and keys I had so they could have a technician offer advice. I sent the photos but neither the office guy nor a technician ever followed up. I followed up repeatedly over several days - its a good thing it wasn't an emergency. Finally, a considerate woman in the office took pity on me, responded quickly to my message, and almost immediately connected me to Mark. He gave me good advice, and I requested that he be my locksmith after I purchased a replacement lock. Mark's work looks very nice and the locks work fine. Your office staff/logistics folks may need better training. read more
