We had Security Doctors in our townhouse for over six years and service was good although never needed thankfully. Security Doctors does not offer wireless options but our townhouse had an existing system so that worked for us at that time. We took advantage of a one month discount and prepaid each entire year but when we moved and requested cancellation in September 2022 and a refund for unused service, owner Carlos and his manager/wife Maria would not give us our remaining balance due per our contract. They did stop our service in October 2022. After weeks of going back and forth with them, they sent us a one month refund for Dec 2022 because January 2023 was our free month which I agree. They added that they would refund further when we pay the new $1,700 set up/equipment fee for our new house plus sign another contract. Their refusal to honor their previous contract and fairly refund us for the remaining 2 months unused service was a blessing in disguise because we found that a more sleek, techy, and wireless Simplisafe system costs only $180 through Costco with free three months of service then 1/4 of the Security Doctors monthly price. read more

At first I thought decent company but Not at all. We had a fire in our building after 4 months. Carlos installed brand new wireless system and we were told no issue if someone cut off or tamper. The system was alarmed when police arrived but their monitoring center didn't receive any alarms and let us know. We called monitor center after police called us 1:30am and told us that your build had fire. They told us that they don't know any things since they don't see any problem. What a surprise! My question to them was when system tampered by someone or by fire damage? Should monitor center at least receive alarms then notify us so we can check it out? We didn't receive any calls or alert. We moved into our new home with a new security system. We looked into various companies to add a few more monitoring devices in the home as well as compare pricing. We did tons of research on this- 3 months of researching and debating. The original company that installed the system had a limitation that they never revealed to us or our builders - with that system, no other company could monitor or install any new monitoring components. Being that they were double the price and had your typical salesman attitude, we looked to have the system exchanged out as well as add more motion sensors and glass breaks. From the beginning we were impressed with Carlos with Security Doctors friendly, hoenst attitude. We were not sure if going with a smaller company would provide 'less' security but what we got was exactly comparable to all the others. But we got to work with someone who actually owns the company and installs the entire system himself. He also was honest about particular monitoring sensor we felt we should install that he told us was just an extra cost to us but not necessary needed unless we really wanted. He could have made money from us but was honest with what was needed. This was different from other big companies. He kept the house and work areas very clean, which i certainly appreciated. The alarm monitoring pieces are all installed without wall marks or disruption to our new paint job. He was extremely thorough in reviewing the work as well as the use of the system with us. The other bonus is that with any problems you can contact him directly at all times which was reassuring to us. Being that he owns the company, often installs the system himself, has competitive prices, and is very reliable, we would strongly recommend Security Doctors. They do have a central company monitoring the alarm once installed as do all the other companies so there does not appear to be any reasons why this small, locally owned company would not provide anything less than a larger, well known name. I had not so great of an experience with this company. I had someone come out for a quote and at the end was told that despite an estimate they would only be willing to charge based on time and materials. While I appreciate why they would want to do that to cover themselves, I also know that vendors could always make excuses for why something is more complicated or took more time and upcharge me. No other home automation provider or general service provider takes this approach. I would discourage you from wasting your time for the aformention reason as well as the fact that they are very rigid with solutions and only do very specific things. Unlike the other company that gave me the run around for hours, Carlos was professional & clear about all of my options to secure my property, and their monthly charge which is quite reasonable and actually a much better price than the previously mentioned company.
