I give them only 1 star because first they asked me if I could bring the e-bike to them. Then I got a message asking if I still needed their assistance after they told me they don't work on E-bikes. It's a broken key in a lock........aren't you locksmiths????? Broken key+lock=Locksmith I did it myself. read more

You guys came and fixed my neighbors' lock at 1000 N Lake Shore Dr. They were very pleased with the prompt, kind service they received, at half the price of a competitor (which I attribute to elder abuse.) Thanks for taking care of my neighbor. read more

Jordan is exactly who you want in a locksmith emergency. He arrived early despite freezing temperatures and quickly got me back into my house. What impressed me most was how he went above and beyond - teaching me how to troubleshoot my lock and recommending potential replacements if needed. His friendly demeanor and willingness to share expertise made a stressful situation much easier. Highly recommend for anyone needing a knowledgeable, professional locksmith who truly cares about helping customers. read more

I needed my Honda key battery replaced and they were able to do it within 10 minutes! Would recommend

Really expensive. They also contract the locksmiths out, so it has been really inconsistent. The locksmith did a good job for the work, but overall, the company was hard to work with from a customer service standpoint. read more

Noah was very professional and went above and beyond. I would definitely use Chicago Locksmiths again and I've already recommended them to 2 of my friends! Can't recommend enough! read more

Chicago Locksmiths - My new locks! - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me

I can't speak for the way this company operates in a non-emergency, but in an EMERGENCY situation FORGET IT. Such an absolute joke. I could not have made it more clear that we had an emergency and needed someone asap. Our building had a gas leak and one of the units was out of town, no one had a key. I respect that businesses have protocols, but they won't even schedule a tech to come out without authorization from the unit and proof of residency. Called EIGHT other locksmiths and no one had that requirement, at least not in an emergency. After all of the back and forth, could not guarantee me that someone could be at the building within 45 minutes. Could have saved me so much time and energy if we started there, even though I had asked multiple times and expressed complete urgency. read more

Noah was super fast and changed 8 locks right away and was very knowledgeable about locks. He was very personable and knows everything there is about locks. Thank you Chicago Locksmith. read more

Called these guys, Ben got there fast made my key, made it fast , smooth, no fuss. What a ray of sunshine on a rainy, gloomy , Friday. Just like everyone, I read the reviews expecting to be wowed. Situation: Very small storage lock with a key. Pros: He was quick. Same day appointment. (The extra star). Cons: He was obviously rushing from the second he got out the car with an attitude. He went from picking the lock to drilling in a matter of seconds. He also didn't inform me that it was an additional $90 for the drill. I'm so big on being upfront with the customer. It was extremely annoying because my grandfather (who usually helps but was out of town) told me it shouldn't be more than $30-$50 because it was simple. I didn't realize it was an extra until he told me the final price. What if I didn't have it? I could see if it was an extra $10 and you didn't mention it, but $90?! Also, the yelp code didn't work. Great advertisement. read more

Just got a replacement car fob from them. Great service and a great value - half the price the Toyota dealer quoted and much nicer staff - highly recommend Chicago Locksmiths. read more

Called, got a callback and service in under 15 min on a Sunday night. 5 stars for that all day!

Jacari was so fast any helpful. The phone dispatcher was also incredible. Grateful for quick service and kindness when stranded.

I got lock out of my car on Saturday night so I was very nervous that I wouldn't be able to find a company to come. I called two other companies before that went to voicemail so I got even more nervous. Third call I got to Chicago Locksmiths which answer right away and were able to inform that technician will arrive shortly. Half an hour later The Technian arrived, 10 min later I was on my way to meet my friends with a huge smile on my face. Thank you guys for helping ! read more

I've used Steve with Chicago Locksmiths twice now and it's been a terrific experience! The first time he came over was to rekey my new condo. The sellers had installed a sliding glass door to the patio that had a separate key than the main entry, and I thought we would be stuck with two keys for our exterior doors. Not so! Steve had it all rekeyed to work with the same key! I didn't even think that was going to be possible! The second time was to replace the knob on my front door- the one we had that came with the apartment started to fall off. Steve got us securely put back together again in no time! Highly recommend Chicago Locksmiths and if you can get Steve, you're in really good hands! read more

Jenna (spelling?) is the sweetest! I just walked in and she helped me immediately. I asked her for a cute designed key but it didn't match the type of key I had and was very apologetic about it. But she copied my keys in about two minutes and I was out the door. Thank you! read more

Kurt was Covid friendly. Expeditious work. Made sure work was complete before leaving even when some speed bumps were hit in the process. A little more expensive, but worth it. read more

Jonathan was very professional and helpful in opening my car door. Especially during the pandemic he was very conscious of social distance and also came within 30 minutes of us calling and my car was opened in the next 5-10 minutes. Great service would use again! read more

Quickly made key copies and they all worked (which seems like a minor detail but have made copies elsewhere and they didn't work)

I have been getting estimates for a video or audio intercom system for my 3-flat. This company is the only company that charges a fee ($85) to provide an estimate for a sale that is approximately $3k-$5.5k. They lost my business in the first phone call. read more

They showed up on time and quickly repaired my lock. He was friendly and patient and would def recommend them.

I mean, WOW. Talk about fast service. We had a legal issue with our contractor...we needed for his access to our property eliminated...and FAST. We called Chicago Locksmith (at 8 at night mind you) because of the great reviews left here. And I can concur with everyone else's positive feeling toward these guys. When I called, I was put in touch with one of their technicians, Tory, who got to our place is TEN MINUTES!! That seems like a dream, right? Well the fantasy continued with a completely ridiculously AMAZING after-hours service charge of only $45, and then an additional $35 per door re-keying. From the phone conversations to meeting the tech in person...all I can say is professional, quick, reliable, and very friendly! Thank you, Chicago Locksmith! read more

From start to finish this is a great locksmith company made great by its people. The operator was helpful in explaining the services. Tory was the tech assigned to replace my two locks. In addition to being an all around nice guy, he was careful and detail oriented in making sure the lock was perfectly replaced. Thank you. read more

The five-star reviews here read like they were written for a different business. My experience with these guys was lackluster, to say the least. My bicycle lock broke in the Loop, I needed my lock to be destroyed ASAP in order to get my bike home. Keep in mind: this is--at most--a 10 minute job, usually done with a kind of saw, but it does require specialized equipment. When I first called, I was told that a smith would be there within 45 minutes and that he would call me when he was on his way. After waiting for the entire 45 minutes in an office building lobby, I called back and was told that they had no idea where the smith was and would call me back in "two minutes." Ten minutes later, I got a call from the locksmith himself, who informed me it would be another 45 minutes before he arrived. Since it was early evening at this point, I asked him to cancel the trip and that I'd be using another service in the future. read more

Rude and pricey! They gave me a 30 minute ETA and I waited for an hour 15! And they had the audacity to still be mean to me. The tech did not explain to me why the price was so high either. read more

I had to change the locks to keep my cheating loser ex out. I put in a quote request online and they called me in like 15 minutes. They told me a technician would be assigned to me and call me to set up the appointment. Tory called shortly after that and we set up the appointment. He met me at my house, I showed him the damage and have me pricing on everything before doing any work. He was super professional, friendly, and I couldn't be happier with the service. Would recommend to anyone in need of super fast locksmithing! read more

First time using a locksmith so not sure what is standard. Essentially when you call them they will tell you $20 for the locksmith to come out and then $35/hr. However, I was getting a bit suspicious when the guy kept fidgeting away from how much a job would cost. WORD OF WARNING: THEY MAY NOT CHARGE YOU BY THE HOUR BUT BY THE TYPE OF JOB THEY ARE DOING! The key to my bike lock broke off in my Kryptonite U-lock. I spoke to the guy on the phone and told him I would need someone with an angle grinder to come cut the lock. He still told me $20 to show up and $35/hr. However, when the guy shows up for the job he tells me its $150 to cut a lock regardless. Although they also claim to accept credit cards, the guy basically was basically telling me I would avoid a service charge if I paid cash. Honestly I felt like I was dealing with a shady company and that I was getting ripped off. Just be upfront with me. If its going to cost $150, then its going to cost $150 and I can make that decision without feeling I was given a bait-and-switch. The service itself was fine, the guy showed up and did his thing. Was friendly and everything. read more

I have a very old steamer trunk, which someone inadvertantly locked. I don't have a key. I called on New Years Eve day, thinking no one would be available, but that I would arrange an appointment for the following week. Surprise, Steve was at my house in less than a half hour. He asked me to send him a photo prior to his arrival, and cautioned me that he might not be able to pick this lock and might have to pry it off. He worked on picking it for about 10 minutes and was successful, preserving the lock itself. He showed great concern for doing no damage to this old trunk, belonging to my grandfather. Once he opened the lock, he inspected it again so that if he had a similar call in the future, he would be able to retrace his work and pick the lock without damage to the mechanism. Given that this was a house call, I think the price was reasonable. Thank you Steve! read more
