JR sent a technician within two days. The technician spent 4 hours to repair my car's ignition, because the key couldn't turn. I drive a 2017 VW Jetta. He removed the pin and a small piece of metal after taking off the steering wheel housing. It was a hot, sunny day and he worked hard. Cost of job was $650, but I called 20 locksmiths and only they could do it. Thank you! read more

Totally unreliable. I tried to hire these guys to fix a screwed up lock on my condo door. After texting pictures back and forth, they set an appointment to come look at it on a Monday between 12-3. At 2pm on the appointed Monday, they sent another text saying that they had another appointment and couldn't make it. We rescheduled for Friday afternoon. The last text from them was "Ok see you Friday." I asked for a more specific time. Nothing. Radio silence. Friday rolled around, and they didn't show. No call, no text, no nothing. Needless to say, I hired another locksmith. It mystifies me that apparently some people in this town just... don't want my money? read more

Very happy with the service they provided! They were able to make two keys for my car. (I lost my keys somewhere in my condo and needed to get somewhere that weekend) He knew the rush I was in, and said he would be right over to help. He finished the job in a reasonable amount of time and for a great price. No complaints on my end. PS, this review is for services provided 5 months ago and the keys are still great! read more

Want the job done right? Call these guys, specifically ask for david ! He helped me in a matter of minutes . Couldnt be more impressed

Last Wednesday at 3:30am I called ChiTown Locksmith for an absolutely ridiculous situation that involved a man and a cat locked in a bathroom. ChiTown Locksmith sent over Mike to help get them out and he was great! Response was quick, Mike was very professional and also managed to make us laugh about the entire thing which definitely helped with stress levels! read more

not sure of the names but overall i really had a Great experience with this place. Reasonable prices and very fast. The man who came out I think his name started with a D in a blue van. very nice and once again he was quick and even shared small conversation with me talked me through everything. long story short i went from not being able to lock my door to being able to lock my door worry free with a extra key . He was awesome definitely recommend. read more

Cosme was absolutely fantastic! I accidentally locked myself out of my apartment and had been working with my build management and contacted other locksmiths with no luck for 2.5 hours! Once I called ChiTown Locksmith Cosme was here within 25 minutes of me calling and was able to get me back in my apartment right away! He was very kind and helpful and also made me 3 copies of my key on the spot. I HIGHLY recommend!! read more

My car matters to me about as much as the real singers behind Milli Vanilli. Yeah it's important but who really cares? It's never going to have the appearance of Rob & Fab. Thus when I encounter a conundrum, like losing the only fully functioning car key I had, I get flustered, worried and pissed. Thankfully while I was panicking, my bae (she loves that) started making calls. Chitown Locksmith was the best option because they were reasonably priced and could provide immediate service. Other places had weird accents, seemed shady, and charged more for same day service. Way to exploit those in need. They can't just blame it on the rain. Yeah...I'm gonna keep the Milli Vanilli theme going. They took about an hour-hour and a half tops to come out to my car which was street side across from my apartment. Dude made a copy of a key, hooked up his gadget to my car which was reading codes or some bull, and before I knew it, I had a new working car key. Yeah, I was down $150, but crisis averted. He gave me his business card and said baby don't forget my number. If you need a locksmith, girl you know it's true, oh oh oh, Chitown Locksmith is for you. So maybe that one was a little forced. read more

Lost my last spare car key (meep!) - I called the closest dealer and would have had to get the car towed all the way up to Evanston in order to get new keys made, which definitely would have been a very expensive and time-consuming route to go. Instead I turned to Yelp and after a few misses I found these guys - it was great! I was quoted a competitive price over the phone for the service call and 2 programmed car keys and that is exactly what I paid, no funny business. JR came out to help me, he was very professional and I had new keys ready in no time! If you find yourself in this situation (hopefully you don't too often), but when it happens you need to find a trustworthy business. These guys are the real deal! read more

Used him today and he was great! I had lost my motorcycle keys and I called him after several locksmiths that said they wouldn't or couldn't do it. He came out the same day in his red van and proceeded to work his magic. In about 45 mins, I had a new set of motorcycle keys. Definitely a great motorcycle locksmith that will help you in a jam. read more

I found them here on Yelp. They were very professional, flexible and reasonably priced. I was quoted $200-300 for a key replacement for my car that required programming, I paid half that with Chi-Town Locksmith. The technician came out to my home because my car was disabled and cut me a key in less than 20 minutes. I highly recommend them, specifically JR. They did require cash but they also provide receipts. THANKS! read more

I'm glad you guys had a pleasant experience because my experience was not. I spoke with J.R on 4/12/2016 explained I was locked out my car he scheduled me an appointment that night because night was more convenient for me ,he was suppose to come to my house between the hours of 11 and 12 pm .I started getting antsy at about 11:50 I called him over 6 times and no answer so then I decided to text and he replied gave me some bogus excuse and I replied and I haven't heard from him since after I told him they were doing street cleaning on my street and that if my car wasn't moved I would be ticketed.I wouldn't patronize this place very unprofessional read more

I called and hung up to make sure my wife hadn't called first and as soon as i was done talking with her Chitown called me back and confirmed with me the price for replacing my lost car key with fob was as advertised. For me was $175 cash. Best price i came across in the Chicago area. Jr. Was very professional and swift with the job. I'd recommend to anyone looking for someone that gives a fair price and great professionalism. read more

This review is for a person who works with by the name JR (I believe) He does the re keying of locks for residential buildings. I called to have my lock on my place re-keyed and my neighbor also needed this service done. He was an expert, very kind and his prices were much better than the other competitors in this area. So thank you for hiring this person--we will recommend him to anyone else in need of this service. read more

ChiTown Locksmith was extremely helpful when I called him, and though he didn't end up coming to help because he was on another job, he talked me through the best way to find another locksmith, and checked in about an hour later to make sure I had gotten into my apartment. I was very impressed with his assistance and professionalism and would not hesitate to call him again. I was locked out of my car this afternoon at work, the locksmith was very fast and courteous, and had unlocked my car within half an hour of my placing the call. I'd highly recommend them, especially if you are locked out in ChiTown Locksmith. It was definitely the most quick and painless experience I've ever had with a locksmith service. A+ read more

JR recently helped us re-key a 3 flat to have a master key system. He was great to work with from start to finish. He's easy to talk to, explains his prices clearly as well as your options, and is good at communicating promptly. He planned to come out just for an estimate but since we'd talked previously, we ended up just doing the work that day. I appreciated his flexibility in helping us get the work done in the timeframe we were looking for. He is a skilled technician who has a fully service work van. His prices were also very fair and some of the most reasonable we encountered after getting quotes. read more

If you need something, call Chitown Locksmith NOW and don't look back! Seriously, you can thank me later. I had an emergency situation concerning several other people and myself. After approaching FIVE other businesses (both local and nationally recognized names) and explaining my situation, not one was able to help. Fortunately, I came across Chitown Locksmith and gave them a call. Junior quickly understood my situation and promptly showed up completely prepared with all the necessary materials. I knew I could trust him to handle the situation properly, and the work was done within minutes. Junior quoted a very modest price, but I was so happy I eagerly paid him extra. It's impossible for me to overstate my appreciation after the bind we were in that no one else could help us out of. Your search ends here; call Chitown Locksmith. You won't be disappointed. read more

I used JR on 3 or 4 occasions to fix the front gate lock in our building which kept breaking. This last time however dealing with him was an exercise in frustration. After failing to show up to fix the issue, he finally came and installed a new electric release. After that the buzzer stopped working for all units and mail carrier as well. I notified him and he said he'd come to check it out on Sat. 10/12 ...He never showed or called. I texted him it needed to be fixed as the mail carried could not get in, also we have an elderly lady in the building and often ambulance is called and she has no way to buzz them in. He NEVER responded to that txt (8/14) so I called him and he said he'd stop by on 8/15 at 2PM...again never showed and no call. The only time he showed up when he said he would was to pick up the check on 10/9. I don't know how someone with such disregard for his customer's time stays in business. I lost ALL trust in him after being left waiting over 6 times with no follow up call. I will not be doing business with him or recommend him to anyone. Now I'm left having to contract another person to fix the issue created by his work. Buyer Beware!!!!!! read more

The ignition on my Saturn totally locked up - it was impossible to to turn the key at all. Research online suggested that the only fix was to replace the lock cylinder, which gets pretty costly. I called Saturday morning and he was here a couple hours later (it wasn't an emergency). He readjusted and cleaned-out the lock and made me two fresh keys. Turning the ignition is smooth as silk now. While I won't say it was cheap, it was less than half of what I expected to pay with getting the cylinder replaced. Very efficient and very friendly. I strongly recommend Chi-Town. read more

I contacted Chi Town Locksmith last minute for an emergency as I locked myself out of my place on a Sunday. One Of the best! I truly recommend it, they're reliable to work w/ , special S/O to J R , for doing a good job.

We had JR come to our home last night to program our Fob car key. He was a true professional, speedy and prices on services are reasonable. Our alternative would have been having our car towed and paying the dealership on top of that to re-program our key. I called a couple of other locksmith companies and they either did not return my quote inquiry or did not provide the service. If you find yourself in a similar situation you should definitely reach out to JR at Chi-Town Locksmith! read more

I used this company on October 25th, after someone stole my wallet and car keys downtown. I am not from the city and was only visiting. I called around but this guy seemed great over the phone, he was friendly and helpful. He came to where my car was parked about an hour late, apologizing, and made me three sets of keys costing me $325. I paid him and went home. Upon getting home I noticed that the man never reinstalled my passenger side lock mechanism! So I called, he told me he would reorder the part, and we set up a time to meet, he canceled and rescheduled and then didn't show up for the rescheduled time. This happened three more times!!! He blew me off each time. Now no one is returning my phone calls. I find it extremely unprofessional to say you are going to come install the part YOU did not install correctly the first time, and then not show up and not answer phone calls. I am very disappointed in this service. I paid you guys with trust that the job would be done correctly. I cannot drive my car in the rain or even to work without fear of water damage to the battery lock system or someone being able to get into my car. You would think a locksmith should be a trustworthy person because they are dealing with your locks!!! Do not use this company. -- Highly unsatisfied costumer read more
