We picked Oak Brothers because they are among the few left who do this kind of work and they are artists of this craft. These days many people choose to get rid of beautiful original windows in favor of new windows. We didn't want to do that because we know the original windows are much better quality and built to last much longer than such new windows, not to mention that they look better, and they just needed to be restored. Oak Brothers is a small team that is in high demand, so there was a significant lead time for our project, but we decided it was worth the wait because we felt no one else in the Chicagoland area could match their expertise, skill, and attention to detail. Oak Brothers restored the main double-hung windows around the house as well as our basement casement windows and several art glass windows. Besides restoring their structure and function (plus installing upgraded weather-seals), they did a meticulous job of removing the paint on both the windows themselves and the window jambs. They stained and varnished everything to match the rest of our newly refinished woodwork. They also replaced rotted window sills, transformed fixed into operable windows, and arranged to have our stained-glass windows cleaned and re-cemented. We never knew how dirty the stained-glass window at the top of our first-floor stairwell were before they were cleaned. Oak Brothers paid as much attention to aesthetics as they did to structural and functional issues. For example, Jeff worked patiently with us to get all the window hardware re-plated so it matches the original copper patina we found on the few sash pulls that still had the original finish. He then went the extra mile to source screws and finishing washers that match the patina on the hardware. The end result is that the windows are a perfect aesthetic fit for the rest of the house. We really appreciated Jeff and his team's care and hard work throughout the process. Jeff has the kind of expert knowledge of his craft that is very rare these days. Pat and Jude, besides the high level of skill they brought to the job, were extremely gracious and kind as they worked on the windows while we and two small kids were living in the house, and they took great care not only in their work but also in helping manage dust and debris. We are greatly enjoying the beautiful results of their work now that it is complete. We offer our highest recommendation for Oak Brothers.

A previous owner had painted over the frames and windows, to the point that they were difficult to open and after years of neglect somewhat unsightly. The end result is absolutely beautiful, down to the hardware and chains. They also did a wonderful job restoring the finish on our front door, sanding and painting our railing, and installing upgraded weather-seals in a sunroom door. The most impressive work was their restoration of our second floor facade-facing bay of windows which contains a lovely stained glass design that spreads across three windows. Oak Brothers removed the windows, re-cemented the glass, and fixed some cracked panes. The windows are much improved and we plan to do the same for another stained glass window. Throughout the process, Jeff and his team were attentive and responsive. Jeff is passionate about restoration, and his wealth of knowledge gave us new ideas for elsewhere in the home. He has become someone we turn to when considering other improvements or restorations. He even came back two years later to repair what turned out to be a bent piece of weather-stripping that was causing a sash to be inoperable. While the source of the problem was a misplaced piece of hardened epoxy that had caused a piece of metal weather-stripping to get bent, he did not charge us for the repair. We plan to work with Oak Brothers in the future for more restoration on our home and highly recommend them for restoration work.

The staff I've interacted with (Amari and Tanisha for calls and work orders, Stefan for maintenance) have been very lovely, quite friendly and polite, and they do make me feel quite cared about. I'm usually extremely anxious about making or picking up phone calls, but I do tend to pick up the ones that seem to be follow-ups from Mac about work orders because the staff I've interacted with make me feel much more at ease than usual. I also find maintenance to be very personable. Stefan and the others who have come by have been very attentive and thorough with the work they've done, and they always verbally check in with us if we're home when they come in, to make sure that they've completed work orders exactly as we wanted. Mac's resident portal isn't great, the help articles are atrociously unhelpful, and I don't really understand why they ask for preferences around contact for work orders because they always email and call regardless of what you indicate. The lawn is always somewhat overrrun with weeds, regardless of the season, so that's a little annoying as well. But maintenance is always incredibly prompt, and usually when the weather gets nicer, someone adds some nice plants to the flower pots outside my unit, which I appreciate. So overall.... I don't exactly feel like Mac Properties totally makes looking after residents their very top priority, but I don't have much to complain about either. I wish we had central a/c and more control over heating, but I suppose it's an old building and that's not really within their control. And I really do appreciate the staff. They're probably the biggest upside to living where I do.

Instead, I am met with avoidance, disregard, and false claims of completed work orders, while they insist there is no mouse infestation or evidence of mice in my unit. The landlord continues to deny that there is a problem. They refuse to credit my account for the cost of materials I purchased on my own to protect my home. Calls and work orders remain unaddressed, and they mark them as complete without any resolution. This situation has been ongoing since May 2025. It has become so severe that mice are now openly visible, as if they pay rent, and they walk around the traps. This is a health hazard, and I can't even stay in my home comfortably. I have posted a new video that substantiates my experience thus far.

I moved from California, so it wasn't the easiest transition but the entire Twin Towers management has made it worthwhile. My apartment is spacious, reasonably priced, and with a lovely view of Lake Michigan and the downtown skyline. I love brightly lit spaces, so the tall and wide windows in the bedroom and living room are perfect. If I ever have any issues with heating, repairs, or anything really, I simply request a maintenance job on the online app, and it is addressed promptly. Twin Towers is very quick on resolving issues, and I appreciate that very much. Just recently, there have been many changes being done--all of which have been really cool. Just this past October, there was a fall festival event with free food, open bar, raffle prizes, and great music. We also just had a lovely wine-down Wednesday evening where tenants were able to sip wine and enjoy hors d'oeuvres. I'm loving all these new events that are bringing all tenants together for a good time. In terms of the amenities, Twin Towers has a very nicely equipped gym, a comfortable business center, and a very homey lounge where you can grab a warm cup of coffee or watch some tv. The laundry room is always clean and ready for use. Package deliveries are always very simple, as there Luxor system is a God send! There were a few times where I came across issues with deliveries, but they've always been dealt with promptly. All in all, I have loved my experience living at Twin Towers Apartments. The entire TT staff is kind, welcoming, and always ready to help. I couldn't have chosen a better home here in Chicago.

The previous time that I complained about a smell, the work order was ignored and I later found black mold in the smaller bedroom. The mold was then painted over. The time before that I complained about a smell for weeks and it turned out that my neighbor flooded his unit before moving out, underneath my couch the carpet was damp and had a mildew smell. The carpet was shampooed. A 3rd time that I complained about a smell, the furnace leaked on the carpet behind couch. The water had to be shut off for repairs. And another time I complained about a smell the filters had mold on them and had to be replaced. I emailed the property manager Shelia Cramer about the leak in my bathroom (pics attached), It was completely ignored.
