When I brought it back, I was charged an additional $60 to fix what should have already been resolved. What's most frustrating is that I couldn't get a clear explanation as to why I was being charged again for the same issue. If a repair doesn't hold up after a week, that should fall under some kind of workmanship guarantee--not an additional charge. I want to continue supporting this business because I've had good experiences in the past, but this situation felt unfair and left me questioning the quality and accountability of the repairs.

This review is way overdue....I had lost my cell phone out in the field some time ago and had to end up paying through my nose and getting a replacement. Few days later, I received a call from Louis asking me if I had lost my phone and sure enough I went to his store and picked it up. The great story is that one of his customers was the one that had found my phone but I had a password on and no one could access it to find out potentially who owns it, however the man was so kind to turn it in to Louis. Louis had spent several hours trying to get into the phone to find out the owner's detail and he finally had. When I went out to pick it up, I was very happy and asked if I should at least cover for his time. He kindly said that was not necessary. I was very grateful for the act of kindness on his part as well as the person who had originally found my phone. I felt very fortunate and lucky that day! Great customer service!! My Iphone battery was on its last legs. Called a bunch of vendors (Oakland/Berkeley/Emeryville) left phone msgs, got no return calls. Finally saw Quick Communications in Alameda, called and got a real person, said he could do the job and had the battery. Easy enough to find, parking was easy. Was in and out in under 30 minutes. The price was reasonable - cheaper than Apple. He said my old battery was from 2015, so it had a good life. The location is GREAT, a three fer. There is a bicycle shop, hamburger joint and sandwich shop all within about 50 yds of Quick Communications. Thumbs up to Quick Communications. read more

This is the worst place to setup your mobile service. They are only interested in MAKING money and not in helping you SAVE money. They lied to us about what services were available, so we ended up paying WAY more than any other plan. AVOID this place and head to a store where they actually care about what service is right for you instead of lying to you and taking advantage of your ignorance. This place is just gross. read more

Their website is entirely misleading as it quoted me $89. Then I got an automated text that said $89 plus tax. THEN I got a text from the actual tech that was supposed to come and repair it that it would now cost $129. He also wanted to offer me a gold home button for another $30, but here's the thing: there's nothing wrong with my button, it's just the screen so whatever. Totally shady. Thank goodness for the recommendation! Do whatever you need to and come to Bay IC Repair and it'll be a nice and professional experience.

Initially, I did not jump to conclusions. Instead, I sought additional opinions from other professional recovery companies to better understand available options. That's most important. Before posting this review, I reached out directly to Emergency Guy to give them an opportunity to address my concerns and provide clarification. Unfortunately, I did not receive a response. I came to Emergency Guy seeking guidance after experiencing issues with my HDD and SSD. Overall, the staff and technicians were respectful. However, I did have one interaction with an individual staff member who appeared overwhelmed and frustrated - possibly the owner, Phillip? While that affected the tone of that particular interaction, I understand that these situations can happen. It did not deter me from my overall experience, as I continued working with other staff members who were professional and helped improve the overall tone of the communication. I paidfor an evaluation and assessment, including shipping costs. During a follow-up phone conversation, I was asked over the phone whether I would consider increasing my budget to approximately $2,000 so the HDD could be sent to another company. While I was open to discussing available options, I ultimately decided not to proceed. Approximately four weeks later or longer, I was informed that the HDD platters were damaged and that there was essentially no realistic chance of recovering my data, even through another recovery provider. I was also asked whether I wanted the drive recycled, which I understood as disposing of the device, and I chose not to proceed with that option. I sought additional professional opinions. After receiving a second and third evaluation from other data recovery companies, I was advised that the condition of the HDD did not appear to match the assessment I had originally received. This experience raised concerns about the accuracy of the initial evaluation. Since I paid it, I expected a clear and accurate diagnosis of the drive's condition, along with realistic information regarding possible recovery options. My concern is not that recovery was uncertain -- I understand that data recovery can be complex and that outcomes are never guaranteed. My concern is that I was told it was beyond recovery, yet further evaluations resulted in my data being successfully recovered. My advice to anyone going through a similar situation is to seek multiple professional opinions. I chose Emergency Guy because I believe in supporting local businesses, and I appreciate the services they provide. However, when dealing with important data recovery decisions, it is always wise to consult other qualified professionals. If something does not feel right, take the time to ask questions, gather information, and get additional opinions before making a final decision. If someone becomes dismissive with questions - that's a sign to move on immediately.

They apologized for not disclosing that it wasn't waterproof and acknowledged their mistake, but now I have a completely broken watch. On top of that they wouldn't refund me for the service and parts $160. They just gave me $50 back. Overall, I spent over $100 so they can completely break my iwatch. Using Yelp Projects, I filled out the repair request, and the bids came pouring in! YY Computer offered to do diagnostics and software install for $100. YY Computer is in Oakland Chinatown on Jackson St. I made an appt, and dropped by in the morning. While I was there, they did a quick check and found the hard drive (HD) to be damaged. They repaired my PC and upgraded my HD to 1 TB. It took about 2 business days. When I went to pickup my PC, they switched it on and show me the new HD. I'm very pleased with my experience. Small parking lot or meters on the street.
