DO NOT COME HERE! There is no one in site to help you. The lady in the office is never there but says she is and that you just miss each other. It's not a safe or secure location. People walk through the gate and the workers don't care when you tell them. We had rat poop all over our things when we finally when to pick them up. When we came to use our unit for the first time it wouldn't open and we had to get in there because we were moving. I called so many times, was hung up on and lied to. They finally wanted to transfer me to a different unit. But that required me to pay a $25 fee even though I didn't do anything wrong, the door wasn't opening. I got the run around again and again. Finally called another site's office manager just to talk to someone. They were able to meet me and showed me how to open it. This took all day. I showed up at the unit around 10a. I called called called, didn't get into our unit until 4:30p. The people who rent you units over the phone lie, do yourself a favor and double check the info. When I called the corporate number and told them about my horrible experience and that I wanted to cancel our account, she still made us pay for the whole month, had no sympathy for everything we went through and we were out $300. My work rents a unit here as well and we will be cancelling our business account this month. Horrible place, horrible management and horrible customer service. read more

This is not meant to be hateful just helpful to those who care about their things in storage. They have a rat problem that I have slowly noticed after 5 months of being with them. I have used this storage service for over a year. On a recent visit my boyfriend and I realized that all of our stuff that we were storing has been covered in rodent excrement or has been chewed on. Basically everything in our storage unit has been ruined. I have called multiple times and have left messages asking to have my phone calls returned. I have not heard anything back. I stored mainly furniture from my initial move to Seattle at this Public Storage for a few years. I'd moved from a much larger home into a Seattle-sized apartment and then townhome, and wanted to keep some of my furniture pending moving into a single family home. My rate started at $171 ($11 a month toward insurance) and went steadily up in $20 increments to $225. About a year and a half into my rental period, this property was infested by rats and it went downhill from there. Public Storage insurance does NOT cover rats or pests. The rat issue was not resolved in the remaining year and a half, only reduced. See my photos for rat damage and general cleanliness of the unit. This unit was always dirty no matter how much I cleaned it, due to the insecurity of the door (dirt came in from underneath) and rat activity between units (walls are super thin and even slightly open in places). Some other details to note. First, many moving trucks cannot fit down the steep driveway and into the gate for this property. A small Uhaul is all you can get in. That means no Salvation Army truck, large moving truck, or pod drop-off is going to work. Second, there is no dumpster for renters. The property itself is always dirty and seems poorly secured. The good--the guy at the counter. He's a super nice guy. I almost felt bad leaving a bad review because of it, but at $225 a month, this was the worst Public Storage I've ever rented at. read more

DO NOT rent a space from here. They have a rat infestation that left my clothes, pictures, and other belongings covered with chew marks and rat excrement. I've stopped by their office several times and no one is ever there (even during posted hours). I've also called several times to address the issue, and no one answers or calls back. I put me and my two children's stuff in a unit here I was renting out for a year in a half all me and my kids had left while being homeless . rat poop and pee all over the place damaging all my items . I spoke to the staff and district manager and they stated there is nothing they can do . They stated they were having a on going rat problem in their F building but never notified anybody who has belongings in that building at least offered them to transfer to a different unit until I reached out personally regarding the issue . All me and my kids had is now contaminated with rat poop and pee . The rats had chewed through the wall . don't ever rent here because it's not a guarantee your stuff will be safe ! Really poor communication!!! And facility not maintained during snow storm. Proceed with caution if you are renting here in the winter!!! We rented a space in mid-December via online tool. Snow storm started around December 28 and I made several calls the facility to discuss move in with no call back. We showed up on January 1st and the facility was closed due to snow and they had not maintained the entry or aisle ways around the buildings. Luckily, we found another Public Storage facility nearby that does maintain the facility during snow storm so we were able to move into that storage unit on January 2nd. read more

They raised our monthly rate by $42 yet the gate that should be locked is wide open because the second gate is broken and even though I have light fixtures in my unit the lights never worked!!!! I moved in on the 24 of the month and he explained that my next month was prorated. So my payment was not due until the 24th of $20. But that the next month was then due again on the first with a 6 day grace. He charged me a $20 late fee because i paid on the 27th. should there not have been a grace? Not according to Josh. He said it was due by that day without consequence. If you choose to rent with this unethical storage facility watch his wording and done believe what he says (even if it is written down like mine was). The facility is easy to access and very convenient. Josh made the setup process very smooth and simple. The only negative is that the units themselves are fairly "musty" with a strong mildew smell. Some better ventilation, or mildew resistant paint on the interiors would be a solid improvement. read more

The ONLY good thing this place has going for itself was the girl at the front desk, Ariel. She helped me get all the info I needed to access my boyfriends unit that is currently incarcerated and stuck with me through this entire mess! She is very knowledgeable and helpful. When I drove ALL the way from Everett to Burien I was under the impression the lock was already cut, I just needed to show my notarized letter to access the unit and I could be in and out. NOPE. All day task. Lock didn't get cut, district manager is out of town, ACTING DISTRICT MANAGER UNREACHABLE! So at my expense (Or pay for another month of storage at $190) I have to get the lock cut. 2hrs later we were able to access the unit. Which kind you the lock cut cost me $140 anyways! I pick up the first bag of clothes and out jumps A RAT! Yes a f*^^ing RAT! Rat poop everywhere in the unit. I took was what important and left the rest as they were closing in 20 min. I received a call back finally after I had already left. Returned the gentlemen's call (Devin) and I never heard back! As I'm standing in the office BEFORE all this happens a lady came in upset because her whole unit was covered in rat poop as well. Disgusting! Worst. Place. Ever. I made a reservation and when I got there no one was at the front desk so I had to wait for awhile. When she showed up she was pretty nice and took me back to the unit. The unit was weird but than maybe I don't know much about storage units. The one I looked at was just a big closet with a regular door down a very narrow hallway. I really didn't think I could get a lot of my stuff in there but it was the cheapest unit I could find so I told her I'd take it. On the way back to the office someone was holding the automatic gate open for a truck to get through and she started screaming 'don't hold my gate!', 'get away from my gate!', 'your going to break my gate!' Super loud and very pissed off. She yelled again 'great. Thanks. Your broke my gate'. The thing is the person would have had no idea that they shouldn't be holding the gate open, there are no signs anywhere indicating that it would be detrimental to the poor gate if you did hold it open. She then made some disparaging comments about the person that held the gate open. We are back the office and she begins to try to draw up my contract and I ask her the price which tells me and then asks if I have insurance and I said I probably did but didn't know for sure. I told her I didn't want insurance anyway. She told me I had to have insurance so if I didn't have proof than they would charge me $11.00 until I brought back proof that I had insurance. I told her again that I didn't want insurance and she told me I had to have it. Sooooo the price of $72/mo was inaccurate. Then her computer broke and she didn't say anything and was getting frustrated and called a couple more stores, never telling me what was going on. I saw a rental contract on her desk and I told her I would just fill that out and she told me it was much easier to do on her computer. Okay so your computer isn't working so how about that paperwork...sitting right there next to you? She kept screwing around on her computer so I told her I'd come back later but at that point i really had no intention in coming back. She called quite a few times after that in an attempt to get my business but it wasn't going to happen. As a note - not one of the other places I called needed proof of insurance. I have used storage units before but never with Public Storage. I drove around looking at all the available drive-up 10x10 units in the Des Moines/Burien/Tukwila area to store the new things for my apartment in. I first stopped in & talked to TJ at Des Moines Public Storage who didn't have anything available for me there, but got on the computer & made a reservation for me at the last outdoor 10x10 unit 154th P.Storage had. We booked it down there & spoke to Josh, who drove us to the unit & showed us the inside, explained the $1 rent for the 1st month & what our rent would be pro-rated after that, & then monthly. He helped us with the paperwork & was all around professional & friendly. He was a dream! Made the experience really easy & we will definitely recommend this place out to our friends who are moving/transitioning in their lives right now. I have no doubt in the security of this place, it is located right on 1st ave, surrounded by tall metal fencing & the pin-locking gate works perfectly. Every unit must have a lock on & they are pretty thick standard locks. There are also TONS of security cameras monitoring the place, & Josh said that we have until 9:00PM EXACTLY to get off the lot after hours because his security team starts patrolling & watching with the security cameras, & they will call if anyone is in the lot after hours, whether you are just walking around or finishing up. 9PM exactly or the cops will be called. I love that. I feel very safe storing my stuff here. There is also no catch with the $1 first month deal. If you rent for exactly 30 days your first month, you only pay $1 + one time admin fee ($22) + lock ($17.99) + insurance ($11 min). Altogether I paid $54 dollars today for my drive-up 10x10 unit until 6/21, then I can pay $52 dollars to keep it until 7/6, after 7/6 it is $180 a mo (final price, includes all that crapola) monthly from then on out...& you rent month to month, no contracts or terms or anything. If you literally only use it for a month you get a 10x10 drive up unit for only $54. That is a STEAL. You can also pay at the location during open hours, leave a payment in the drop box after hours, pay online, or pay by phone ($10 fee for paying by phone though). Easy way to get your payment to them on time! I would take the other review with a grain of salt. It sounds like she was going to be gone for 5 months & they made her pay upfront because hello, you are out of state for school, & then it sat there for 5 month with no activity. If someone were to notice that your unit always sat with no visitors for a few months, maybe then they would try to get into it & cut the locks & steal something, but the insurance you have to buy ($11min) covers theft of up to $2500 of your property, so I have no idea why the other reviewer didn't get her money back through the rental insurance. No clue whatsoever, as I've read over my insurance agreement & it states in bold print that suspicious theft (ie; locks being cut, etc) is covered. On top of that, they have security cameras out the yang...so they couldn't pull up video of the locks being cut & your stuff getting into? They won't even let another person who isn't the authorized storage unit renter have the pin to the gate to get in if you lose it....so I can't imagine they would be like oh yes that is you going in your unit on our cameras if it really wasn't... Anyway, I will re-review after my month or so is up & let you guys know if anything went funny with my payments, or the professionalism of this particular Public Storage. Thanks again, Josh! They could easily tell you that when they call you to confirm your reservation. SMH. ... Also I rented a u-haul the following day after renting my storage unit and u-haul had the same lock for $10.... RIP OFF! I feel like they should advise you of the things that you need when they call you, like a $20 lock to move in AND a piece of plastic for $7.49 because the ground "sweats" (as I was told) and so your belongings don't get ruined. Expensive and dirty. The longer you stay the more they keep jacking up the rent. It is a very dirty facility, and the doors don't make a complete seal, so you end up with dirt and cigarette butts inside your unit. Theoretically, you are supposed to be able to use auto pay to pay the bill every month without any hassle. This feature keeps having one problem or another, and it just doesn't work. I'm sure you could find a cleaner, cheaper storage facility nearby. I plan to move as soon as possible. read more

Very poor customer service here. Was spoken to rudely from the on-site manager who did not even deem to come downstairs to speak to me. She simply opened her widow over the office and spoke through the screen. No notice was given that units would not be accessible on 12/25. No signs, letters or other notice given. Website states units can be accessed 6:00am-9:00 pm Mon-Sunday; says nothing about any holiday restrictions. Competitors offer access 365 days a year, which is as it should be. We will be moving out ASAP. There have been rodent droppings even as the manager has said she will be taking care of it. I agree with other reviews that the doors don't seal properly to prevent dust, dirt and cigarette butts from entering the units. Gates have had many issues of breaking down. I have been very patient but the last straw was the incredible RUDENESS I experienced from this lady on Christmas. She clearly has no respect for the customers who pay her salary and no Christmas spirit. Could have been an opportunity to win our business for longer but instead we will be leaving as soon as we can. Buyer beware! read more

Staff was very friendly. Location is 'sketchy' - lots of bushes, security questionable. We had been to a different location which had just been robbed. When we looked at units at this location, they have the same kind of doors - bolted to wall which can be pried open with crowbar or hacksawed very easily. She did help us find a better, safer location. DO not store here until they improve their security. Public Storage should be ashamed to have their name on this place. read more

The real downside of this property is the 6am to 9pm access time. It makes no sense that it's not 24hr access. As a business owner I use it for overflow, and due to changes, etc I need access sometimes later or earlier then those times. Given that it's gated pin access and there is someone that stays on property they should fix the access times. read more

I owed them a little bit of $ so i decided to move out. i can no longer afford the rent. I paid what i could and what i thought was my balance via their website. I set up a date to move out i started to move out got some of my things the very next day code no longer works shut me before my move out date. I was not even finished yet I had no intention on leaving anything behind not even trash.i couldve easily got the rest of my stuff in one trip. Now most likely will be charged for it on top of other misc. Fees. I will pay up what i owe but just a fair warning this place is terrible. I didn't end up renting a unit from them because the dimensions I needed for storage were unavailable, but the only reason I even knew the dimensions I was looking for was because Katie was so thorough! She could see I wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for and she asked questions to help figure out what my needs were. She then checked online to find not only the closest location, but also one with the best available promotion! my storage unit was broken into I had a lot of stuff stolen from me and the insurance company that Public Storage told me I had to use, I asked if i could use my own insurance company I was told no I had to use Perfect Solutions Storage insurance company, denied my claim even after the police report produced a suspect and deemed it a burglary. when I contacted the burien public storage on 1st ave the district manager was dodging my questions about why i was told i had to use there insurance company she just kept rudely repeating herself that i had to have insurance before i moved in and that is not what i was asking i know i needed insurance to move in i wanted her to tell me why i had to use there insurance company. well then i find out that they get a percentage of the premium and there is a class action suit against some of the public storage's . the whole experience has been very hard on me i lost a lot of stuff and i cant even get compensated and i cant even get any support or answers from public storage so use another storage company dont get taken by public storage and perfect solution's read more
