DO NOT RENT FROM HERE - They doubled my rent after 5 months. Site manager is awesome! Very reasonable person, very personable and very willing to listen to a customer rant. That being said, this CORPORATE COMPANY is VERY SHADY, after 56 years of life I have NEVER had a company be so deceptive and do me so wrong. My rent doubled after 5 months of renting and the real kicker is... I can go to their website right now, and get the same unit I'm renting for about the same price as when I moved in! So they double my rate, but a new customer can get a unit for half the price of mine. I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE THINKING, no it's not an introductory rate, and no it's not an internet rate. I literally just went to their website and checked the rates. I'm not new to storage, I've had a large unit in Tacoma for over a decade, I know rates go up, I know about move in specials, I know rates periodically go up. I just began renting a small unit at this facility, so I can't leave a super accurate review of this storage, but so far I've had an excellent experience. I tried renting a unit online but experienced an error, but Todd called me within minutes of them opening. We were able to setup an agreement over the phone rather quickly. I visited the unit that night after office hours, but still during the hours of the facility. This place is very tidy and lots of security as far as I could tell. I had to enter a gate code, a building code, and an elevator code, which I was impressed with. read more

I have had a host of problems with this facility with little concern for my complaints. I rented their largest unit, 10x30. I've only been there for only a few months and now they have jacked up my price by $40 month! After filling up a 30' unit, it would be a monumental task to move it again! Talk about bait and switch!!! When it was raining, water was gushing (like a waterfall) over the side of the roof right by my slide up door of the unit. Water was splashing into my unit when the door was open getting my belongs wet and soaked. I was promised by front desk that they would take care of it, but from what I can see, it hasn't been done. Now I have hundreds, maybe thousands of baby spiders hanging from the sliding door and by the door! Does anybody do maintenance here?!! When I first moved in they charged me for insurance. I said my insurance company covers my locker. They said bring proof and they will remove the charge. I handed them photo copies within 2 days. They ended up charging me insurance for another couple of months and said they had no copies of insurance on file for me (not very good bookkeeping!). Then they refused to refund me the money. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If I didn't have such a big locker filled to the brim, I would be out of there in a heartbeat. read more

The facility is still new so it's very clean, well lit, and safe. A little overboard on the safe actually. When you go to your storage unit, you will feel like you are getting ready to enter the pentagon. The security is a bit excessive and you must enter your 8 digit code every time you go throu a door way. I feel like this raises the cost of each storage unit for the advanced security. With that being said, the strict security conflicts with operation of their elevator. You only have 10 seconds to get all your shit on the elevator because aparantly it will damage it. It could self destruct for all I know. Atleast that's what they make it seem like. Don't forget to enter your code or you will not be going anywhere. I got trapped on that elevator for 45 mins! I followed all their procedure to a tee, and I still got stuck in there. I don't get any cell service at all to call for help. I had to press the help button to call for their private security and the guy walked me through everything to eliminate the possibility of some kind of mistake. It was nothing I did or could do, they had to send someone out to fix it and get me out. So I waited for 45 mins then it finally opened. Noone was there. It just finally opened. The office didn't care when I called them. They pushed it off on me like it was my fault. I have no idea if it will happen again, and I can not use the stairs, they are locked and only allow you to go down, not up. I recommend getting a first floor unit read more

It's gotten extremely outrageous. & don't think that just because you've been a valued long time customer that will help you. We chose Extra Space Storage primarily because of the price--we shopped around for the best deal and this is where we decided to go. Plus, excluding the one-time admin fee, insurance, and purchase of the lock, you get the first month FREE!!! The staff provided great customer service--very friendly, willing to answer any questions I had. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because we were not able to use a disc lock we already owned. The units I saw (including the one we are renting) require the short cylinder lock which you can purchase at Extra Space Storage for around $16. We tried looking elsewhere for a better price on the short cylinder lock, but it was a tricky endeavor and it was hard to find what we were looking for; therefore, we purchased the lock at Extra Space Storage. read more

I was a customer at Extra space Kent for over 3 years and in April my lock was missing off my storage. The unit was ransacked and over $7,000 of my items went missing. I contacted the Manager immediately and was told to contact the insurance company. After their investigation they have decided not to pay out for the burglary, "they need evidence of a break in" the insurance that I purchased was $5,000 I would still be at a loss either way. I purchased insurance in case of something like this happening. My unit was burglarized and I shouldn't have to prove otherwise. I wouldn't recommend extra space storage or the insurance program. The facility is clean and staff are very friendly. If you go now, there's plenty to choose from. The monthly rental $ is reasonable. There is one thing that I wish I knew before going. There's a mandatory insurance fee on top of your rental fee. The fee is fine, but wish it was said up front on the web. Which is why I give them a 4 star. Giving a one because I can't go lower. You want to get robbed this is the place for you. Clean facility and many cameras to identify who is robbing you and trashing your unit but owners/workers won't tell the police their identities so nothing will come of it. We had our unit trashed and workers identified the main person as a former tenant who still had access to the gate and building via his codes but they couldn't tell the police. The lock was also conveniently removed not drilled or broken and no damage to the door. read more

BEWARE of Extra Space Storage in Kent Washington! On Thursday May 14, 2015 I called and made arrangements for my husband and I to rent a storage unit from Extra Space Storage in Kent Washington starting on Friday May 15, 2015. I was told on the phone that the first 30 days would be free. I confirmed that the 30th day was included in this agreement. When my husband, went into Extra Space Storage on Friday May 15, 2015 to officially rent the storage unit, he was told that if for some reason we did go over the first 30 days that Extra Space Storage would be able to prorate the charge for the actual amount of days the unit was rented. We moved out on Sunday June 14, 2015. My husband went to Extra Space Storage on Monday June 15, 2015 to return the locks and keys. That same day a charge of 200.50 was charged to our credit card. My husband called Extra Space Storage on June 23, 2015 to dispute the transaction. The office manager Alanna stated that because we did not give 2 business days verbal notice, that there was nothing that they could do. We gave them 31 days notice, as we told them when we rented the storage unit that we would be moving out on June 14, 2015. Extra Space Storage chose to not document the conversation, therefore had no record of it. In addition, we were given false information that Extra Space Storage could prorate the actual days rented IF we went over 30 days, because they ended up charging us 200.50 when they knew we were no longer in the storage unit as of June 15, 2015. read more

Great facility! Rental went smoothly. I had used the express feature online, which helped. I have used Extra Space before and knew the quality would be good. I was not disappointed. :) Alanna was very professional and our rental was completed in less than 15 minutes. I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for a clean, secure facility with excellent staff. Made our reservation online when it asks how much value you are storing, I filled this out with the correct amount. I also spoke to a CSR on 2 different occasions, however once I got to the facility I was surprised and frustrated to find out we were going to be hit with additional costs for insurance. I think they should have been more clear and upfront online and on the phone with these charges. read more
