Expect your rent to be raised consistently and for a hefty amount (ours went up 50% the first year then another $50 a month the next). They do not honor web-posted prices (my unit is being advertised at $54/mo but they are charging me $80/mo). They do not return phone calls. The chat is useless as all they do is pass your information to the location so they can call you back (which they won't). Zero interest in customer satisfaction - 1000% interest in profit. UPDATE: got somebody to call me back to tell me why the website price is lower than what I'm paying. She said the "website price is to lure new customers and they will get a rate increase to match what I'm paying in six months." I mentioned that the website doesn't state any of this and she says they don't have to. Well, there you go.... buyer beware! read more

All that crap about not deleting or altering reviews is a straight up lie, mine has been deleted 4 times so I write it again we rented here for about 6 years at first it was fine, until the RAT problem, there were so many and it took them so long to rid of them that most of our clothes were destroyed, and even having the most expensive insurance we got only $2000 for everything, it should have been at least $5000 and it took forever to get the $$$, and then we were late with payments, I mean who wouldn't be, the rent went up like $400 a year!!!! Way more than any other storage.oh ya they were 24hr access when we first got there and then all of a sudden they changed the hours without any notice or anything!!!! (Nice business practice) and with no rent reduction!!!! Actually I think they raised it again!! LOL then the big kahuna they told us we had until the 1st to pay our bill, we had proof!!! (Text messages) so we go there on the 1st to pay our bill and they said oh tough shift we sold ur stuff yesterday!!! Before the end of the month even, there employee's were very immature and childish, with the I don't give a shit attitudes!!! Christy went above an beyond tobe sure we were able get our motorhome parked after returning and someone had parked in our space. We called the after hours number and they were great as well and got us immediate assistance. Christy was there within 15 minutes and made sure we had a secure space to park. I have an outside unit I can drive up to for easy access. However I went to retrieve some items and all of my belongings were covered in rat feces! The smell was horrific and my belongings are destroyed. This storage unit has a horrible rat infestation. Of course insurance doesn't cover rodent damage, so I have a tremendous loss. This place is the worst, don't rent here! I've rented here over 5 years. They used to be reasonable, but no longer. The rates go up steadily as you stay there. and are way over market-value. Policies are against clients, with $60 late fees two days after being late, and the late month can't be paid until both the late and current month are paid. They turn off the ability to pay online the day that a month is paid, which makes it even harder to pay, and forces giving credit card details over the phone, or going down in person. I am only still here due to circumstances preventing me from moving my things, and I can't wait until I can get my stuff out and never think about them again. Nothing but giving this review of my experience can mitigate my regret that they've continually profited more and more from me while giving me nothing more in return. read more

I store my trailer in one of the units and one of the employees went through the trouble of walking out there and measuring the opening before renting it to me, just to make sure it would fit. Regarding: SAFEGUARD SELF STORAGE 415 Washington Ave N KENT, WA 98032 I just tried to reserve a 10x20 unit to store a vehicle. What I got in the way of a contract to review was classic "boat and switch" that Julia and Sarah both said was perfectly legal. I first found them through the website westcoaststorage.com who offered me a rental rate of $239 a month of I signed up "online". I did and then Safeguard emailed me a contract which stated the price was $279 a month (with the 180-229 sq ft web discount of $40), bringing the price down to $239 (I guessed, the wording was a bit general). When I called back to verify, Sarah answered. I explained my apprehension and desire for something in writing that was more clear and definite. As I spoke with her, it became clear they were trying to change the rental rate and contract from what I had JUST been emailed. SOUNDS LIKE BAIT AND SWITCH TO ME !!!! Sarah couldn't talk fast enough apparently because she asked if she could call me back to figure it out. Julia calls back and explains to me that it is not bait and switch haha. That, in fact, she has been over this many times with the company's lawyers and that because it says somewhere (I could never find where) that the 'price is subject to change' and because there website or whatever says that... they can change the price in the 30 seconds it takes to sign up online. THAT'S CALLED BAIT AND SWITCH !!!!!!!! So, I went round and round with her explaining what BAIT AND SWITCH is. She stuck to her guns. I said, "so in the time it takes the computer to run the transaction is the 'period of time' it takes for the price to change??" She acknowledged. I said AGAIN, "that's bait and switch". I then asked her to send over a contract (since I didn't complete my sign-up by not giving my credit card info) that she was willing to stand behind, since neither offer (from westcoaststorage.com or safeguardselfstorage.com) was worth the paper it was written on. She said I could come BACK to the location (half hour away) and look at the contract before I signed. I said, since I was signing up online, shouldn't I be able to review the terms there? She said NO. So I said, if I have to come in to view the contract, and that way the ONLY way, then I would and that I would take a screen shot of it while I was there. She said I wouldn't be allowed to screen shot it. WHAT A FUCKING JOKE !!!!!! So, I can't green shot the legal contract I am to pay for and be held by?? BEFORE I pay the money??? I then asked her if , when she buys a car does she agree upon the sale price with the seller before she hands them money or does she just keep handing over dollars until they toss her the keys? I asked for clarification and to see something in writing that her company was willing to stand behind. She denied me, explained again what her company's 'position' is on not calling their tactic "BAIT AND SWITCH" then hung up on me. I'm writing the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU after this because businesses like this need to be rooted out. It's just not professional and no one has time for this kind of BS. Period. I have stored my RV with Safeguard Self Storage in Kent for 2 years and have been extremely happy with the exceptional service they have provided. My family had belongings stored here for a little over a year. Our things were kept safe; however, upon inspection of our belongings we found an alarming amount of cockroach carcasses. We ended up throwing away a large portion of the stuffed animals because they had what looked to be cockroach egg-sacs on them. On a whim, I opened up Yelp while riding through Kent and found this place. I was reluctant because of the small number of completely positive reviews, but considering the poor reviews other storage facilities in my area had, I thought I might as well give them a chance. This is a great storage facility. The units are reasonably priced, but to be honest it's the guy in the front office who makes it worth your time, and money. He's a fair decent guy who's on the up and up and makes your moving easy. He genuinely cares about the business and making your experience there pleasant. Best storage place I have ever been to. They have a manager on site so he takes very good care of the place. I felt homey going there and not foreign. The price is not the cheapest but they do have daily rates so ask for that. You do get what you pay for. If you want peace of mind this is the place to go. They give you 3 storage keys that only you have access to them so if you lose them then you would have to pay for someone to open the lock. They allow you to put other people's name if you want them to come and have access to your storage provided you give them one of the keys. The storage is outside and there is plenty of room to maneuver large trucks in and out. The security code box to get in and out of the gate has camera and the large screen tv in the manager office shows people faces so watch out you are in camera so no funny business. i believe he said that they have at least 50 cameras in the property. They have the storage on one side and then another one that contains larger storage space across the street. I had to quickly change to a larger space on the moving day and Paul quickly accommodated that. He said it happens all the time because it's hard to gauge exactly the space one needs. They have a little coffee space inside the lobby for tired guests. Love that touch! Another homey feeling. They do have storage boxes but you are better off going to Home Depot because they have the best price for boxes and other moving items. Happy moving! read more
