I love this place. We sometimes eat here on Sunday night, if we happen to be out in the area. The special on Sundays is a 10 ounce strip steak for $16. Add a loaded baked potato for $8(?) and it's a great meal. And it's really good. We can often sit at a table overlooking the street. The music is good and at a nice level. Service is good. Fun, easygoing place to hang out on a Friday night! Lots of locals and a welcoming vibe for sure! Drinks are on point and food was delish! Never made a yelp review before, I downloaded the app simply to leave this review because my short experience with this place was nothing short of unacceptable. My special needs sister called to ask if the restaurant took reservations. About halfway through her asking the question, whoever was on the phone hung up on her. I then called and proceeded to speak to the rudest person I've ever come across who tried to make me feel like an idiot that I was asking if they had reservations. I got chewed out as the host said how busy they always were. I have been here many times. I don't know how I forgot to review this place before. I love the food and ambience over here. It is located in Short North part of Columbus Downtown, so it is in a pretty upscale location but they still have a very reasonably priced menu. The staff is very friendly and welcoming as well. I'm such a big fan of the Press Grill, both of them! Has such a great feel and great prices for the quality of the great food. We came here for a friend's birthday to grab a late dinner! We ordered the Loaded Cottage Fries as an app and they were perfect! The potatoes have such a great crunch and flavor. This is going to be a new staple for us! For dinner we ordered the Sunday Special, a NY strip for $15. The strip was great - awesome flavor and a great size for the price. I ordered the baked potato as well (which isn't included in the sunday special), can't go wrong with a potato and steak. Would def. come here again especially for the Sunday special. read more

I was given tap water with lemon, but it tasted really bad...It's almost like you could taste the pipes (weird). I hadn't been to Press Grill in several years so when my buddy suggested it for lunch, I was totally down. They opened at 11:30 and we were the first guests to arrive for the day. First and foremost, I absolutely love the vibe of this place. It's sorta got a divey diner atmosphere combined with a grungy bar feel. It's fantastic! My friends and I grabbed a seat at the very front of the restaurant so we could people watch out the giant windows. The high top table was perfect for the three of us. Our waitress was a sweetheart, quickly greeting us and sharing the daily specials. I ordered the salmon sandwich and a side of the hand cut cottage fries. My friend swore by the fries, saying they were the best and I was super eager to try them. It didn't take long for our food to arrive and it was delicious. The fries were fantastic and I'm so glad I got a side of ranch for dipping. It was epic. You could tell they make it in house and the fresh herbs gave it so much flavor. It was just great! My sandwich was also awesome. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the grilled sourdough that held the sandwich together was the perfect texture. It was just heavy enough to hold everything in. Excellent choice! I also really enjoyed the roasted shallot aioli that was spread on it. Throw in the field greens and tomato and wowza! They got a stellar sandwich. Outstanding lunch! We started with the onion rings with ranch. Crunchy golden rings with a thin but flavorful dressing. The turkey club was dripping with deliciousness. Smoked turkey and ham with a dill havarti cheese. The potato salad had a creamy dressing with a good onion taste. Elyse had a cheeseburger with pickle and potato wedges. Simply and tasty burger. I have always enjoyed coming here until tonight. ordered a pizza, did not like the one bite that was taken out of one slice. not a biggie, some places just can't make certain things good. when manager came over already had an attitude because he was informed to come speak with us about issue. aggressive told us he has taken off only half cost of pizza. I think I am more angry at the rude way he spoke with us than charging half for a pizza that was disgustin and only was tasted and not eaten partially at all. Bad customer service. Not that we didn't already love Atmosphere here, we have come to appreciate the friendly staff and fresh food options. You can always find something you want - from their Egg Sandwich, to Wings, Salmon Sandwich, and so so much more. It has become part of our monthly rotation to stop and enjoy a casual bite! I changed my review from 5 stars to 3 after an awful experience with the door guy. February 27, 2020: Scott (I believe the owner) was fantastic! He helped us get a table for 5 on a busy Saturday night. Continued to update us during the wait to let us know the progress of getting the table also. Once seated, he checked in multiple times while our server was super attentive as well. The food is the shit! The burgers are the reason I went back. The double cheeseburger is amazing but I tried the press burger with egg and bacon this time. So so good. Wings are perfect! Everyone else loved the food. Moved to the bar after we ate to finish off with a few more drinks. Bar service was on point and friendly. Chocolate mousse pie to go was everything I needed in my life. Yum! Measures for covid were in place. Highly recommend! Update: April 10, 2020 I returned from Cleveland to hit Press Grille for dinner. Quite the opposite experience from the first review. It's about 7pm and raining. My boyfriend and I see a guy standing outside the door talking on his cell phone. We go to pass him and head inside. He steps in front of us and abruptly says "We are at capacity." He continues with his phone conversation. We awkwardly stand there assuming most places offer to be added to a wait list. So after a moment, I ask how long the wait is or if we can be added to a list. He looks annoyed as if I'm interrupting his call and goes inside to grab the list. He takes down the name and cell number. We head back across the street to the hotel we are staying at. At this point I assume I'm never getting a call. About 20 minutes later I call and ask how long the wait it and was told "we are at capacity. We don't give wait times." I call a couple other places in Short North and most waits are about an hour. (Odd how other establishments are capable of estimating waits...) So assuming it's likely an hour wait, I can back shortly after 8pm. I explain we were in the list and wanted to see how much longer the wait would be. I can tell it's the same guy from the door by his voice. He checks the sheet and says "I called you twice and it was busy." I responded with it's a cell phone and it can't be busy. We weren't even on it." He replies with "sorry but I called myself so I know. " He doesn't offer a solution just too bad for you... why not offer a table now or the wait shouldn't be much longer... nothing. Zero customer service. So to go from one end of the spectrum of top notch customer service to garbage in a month is so disappointing. The guy working the door on Saturday should have no contact with customers, ever. I would say it's easy to assume he has no vested interest in this business. read more

OK- this place is seriously underrated. Ended up coming here with my date the other night, and we needed to go somewhere that served food late. We ordered their broccoli and cheese soup, which was probably the best one I've ever had in my life. My date ordered their margarita pizza, and the crust was pure perfection. As a visitor to Columbus, I found Press Grill to be a real gem among all the hyped places in Short North. Unlike most of the places on High Street, this one has a neighborhood feel. The bartenders and managers were nice. I'd describe the food as an expanded bar menu, and it's very good. There's a decent beer selection, though only a handful of drafts. read more

Came here on a Sunday for lunch. Place was crowded, so we sat at the bar. Place only seats 30 at the tables and about 20 at the bar. Liked it from the getgo, as they were playing 80s music. Started with the loaded cottage fries. This is a plate of potato chunks, deep fried and baked with a ton of cheese, bacon, tomatoes, scallions and sour cream to garnish. Now typically I'm not a big fan of fried any larger than a McDonalds fry, but these were delicious! Gotta try em. I had the double press burger, which includes a fried egg. Simple, greasy and super tasty. The burgers were a little larger than a regular McDonald's hamburger. Daughter had the tacos which she really liked, but nothing special. Also saw the reviews for the baked macattack and cheese, so we got one of those. Super hot and super cheesy. After it cooled down, it was like eating chunks of cheese with some macaroni in it. Delicious. Neither of us left hungry. Beer selection was decent, but only 6 on tap. Although what was on tap, was very good. There's no happy hour which sucks but the prices aren't bad. I ordered a veggie sandwich with a cocktail. It doesn't have a big drink menu so it wasn't listed. There isn't a happy hour. It may put out some specials though. This one was a lemony martini one person had ordered so I ordered that. It was very good. The chipped ice went really well. It was about $7 which was fair. This place was walking distance from my hotel and the only thing still open at 10 pm. I was pleasantly surprised with their $5 cheeseburger that although was on the smaller side, was very delicious and perfect for late night. Hands down, best onion rings. best batter ratio to onion in the city. It's perfect flavor. This is not the kind of onion ring that you bite into and half the damn onion pulls out. Oh no. No sir. The onion stays in its little bed of batter and makes itself perfect and then I put it in my big mouth and I eat it and it is amazing. And on Thursday nights, Press (at both locations) does a full on Thanksgiving dinner. I'm talking turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes and green bean casserole. First come first serve.
