I've reviewed this place previously, and they have always had good food, but previously service issues. The last year or so has been an incredible transformation, and they are, without exception, my favorite place to eat on the planet. Gallos has a great beer selection. They have a variety of local brews on tap, and a lot of canned bottled options. The mixed drinks are great, especially the bloody Mary's. The service has improved dramatically and is now really great. Everyone is friendly and the environment is warm and casual. There are lots of TVs with various games on. The food here is incredible. Easily, this place has the best bar food in Columbus, and it is very high quality! The specials are always spot on. I can call out Sal the Butcher, the bologna sandwich and the wings. The pizza here is easily top 5 in Columbus. Gallos is by far my favorite place to visit in Columbus. Whoever owns or manages or creates the menu or cooks the food - pure talent. You will not find better bar food in the city - it is all really stellar and deserves your patronage. read more

(Shown without feta cheese) The combo of veg & chicken and the delicious balsamic vinaigrette is crave able. I tried some of my co-diners fries and they were really good and crispy. The place is pretty loud but we were there during a game (basketball?) on a Tuesday. Service was prompt and food came out quickly. Bar was a little slow. Food prices were right on the spot with what I'm used to paying at other local bar and grill places that I go to and some of those places are serving food that is nowhere near as good as this. I visited to tap room in the olentangy shopping center about a month ago on a Saturday to watch the game. They had a choice of two non-alcoholic brews and they were both, foreign. When asked if they had any other choices such as an American beer the answer was, no. So I got the foreign beer and as halftime came I ordered a burger with fries and when I got it it was so dry it was like eating cardboard. Their burgers are frozen like forever. Had a great lunch experience at Gallo's. We were greeted as we entered and asked to seat ourselves. Everything was clean and the temperature cozy. The server/bartender tag team serve so we received lots of attention! The Tap Room was half full at lunch but food arrived quickly. Got a cup of the creamy tomato soup daily special which was excellent. Also ordered the grilled cheese and apple coleslaw on a cold rainy day. We were both very impressed with the great service, classic sports bar ambiance and interesting menu that features lots of classic bar food with a few pleasant surprises. Amy got her standard restaurant tester meal of a burger and sweet potato fries. She gave it a two thumbs up with a smile. (Read her review too, she gave Gallo's, 5 stars) Now, shrimp is one of my favorites when it comes to seafood and I really enjoy a good Caesar Salad so I ordered the Bangkok Shrimp appetizer and a Caesar Salad. Those shrimp had just the right amount of crispy bite due to that buttermilk battering they use. They then toss them in some sort of Thai Chili Sauce that has a wonderful, creamy and savory spiciness that's plain perfection. My Caesar Salad was fresh, crispy and had just the right amount of anchovy tanginess. So my meal was fairly light but still totally satisfying. We really enjoyed this place and I foresee a return visit for us. My only gripe was that it was a little loud but that didn't stop us from having a great meet up over some delicious food and drinks. I'm in a book club, which if a group of girlfriends that truly read a book monthly. This month we decided to host our book club at Gallo's. I had not been to Gallo's in many years. I was the first to arrive and it was seat yourself. I was fortunate though because a kind server directed me to the bar area where there was a table available for 6 people. It was a high top in the bar. As we trickled in our friendly server took our drink orders quickly and efficiently. We were able to hold our conversation about the book in the bar area without any difficulty. No one had difficulty hearing or communicating. I was totally appreciative of that. Our server also made sure that when she checked in on us she didn't interrupt our deep conversation. She was phenomenal! We ordered lots of food to share amongst the table. We tried the wings, chili, pierogis, Bangkok shrimp, fries, and an Italian sub. I tried it all. I would consider the food typical bar food. After a couple of beers when your hungry people tend to be ok just filling their bellies. Any typical bar food will do. That is the kind of food I felt this was. I would not order the shrimp again. The pierogis were the best of what we ordered but they still weren't phenomenal. Overall our visit to Gallo's was good. We were able to communicate across the table without yelling. The bar area was fine and our server was great. I could easily stop in again for a beer but probably not for dinner. read more

Got the burger. Had a burnt overcooked taste asked for a side of mayo to curb the taste. Was charged a dollar for the tiny side of mayo, and not told about just saw on check. Both mine and the other people I was with food was lukewarm at best. Server was rude and seemed annoyed that we were there. Never refilled drinks or check on us. They also charged a fee if you use pay with a credit card. (Might have been posted somewhere, but I never saw it). So needless to say we left feeling nickeled and dimed for bad service and bad food. This place is awesome! It's even better because it's right next door to where we live so it's super convenient. The food and drinks here are great, especially the pizza! This is also a great place for game days. They have TVs all over the place and if you happen to get a booth, they have a smaller TV right there. We tried going once for a football game, but I think we go there a little too late because the place was PACKED. If you plan on going for a big game, make sure to arrive early. You know, I tend to forget how much I like Gallo's Tap Room. It's a sports bar with a Gallo's kitchen, so laid back vibe with really good food. A group of us went out last week, last minute, and they were super accommodating for a last minute group of 12. They put us in the pool table room, and as other groups filtered out, slid the empty tables over to our group. Our server was really efficient, and since we kind of trickled in, really nice about taking some drinks, some food, some more drinks, some more food.... I think every time I've been here, I've ordered from the daily specials menu, and not been disappointed. This visit, they had a blackened fish sandwich on special with fries, so, of course I was getting that! The sandwich was big, with fish, remoulade, tomato, and lettuce. It had a great flavor and was more than enough for me! I sampled the hummus plate, which had some nice fresh veggies and seasoned toasted pita wedges. Super good! Another friend ordered the portabella mushroom app and it was more than any of us would have guessed. Grilled mushroom cap, lightly dressed, served on greens and tomatoes with crumbled cheese on top. We had a really nice time and the food was all delicious. I will have to do a better job remembering that Gallo's is a good option for a night out. read more

I came here last night with my Yelp bestie Mike G for dinner and good times. We both had never been here before and decided to check it out for my first night here in Columbus. We both seemed pretty darn happy when we were done. I scoured the menu prior to visiting and had a few dishes in mind. I ended up ordering the half pound burger with sweet potato fries and Mike G had a fabulous appetizer that he was kind enough to share with me. When we arrived, the place was very busy for a Saturday night which was a good thing. We were seated immediately and a few moments later our waitress came over and handed us menus. We did place our orders and our server was fabulous. Mike ended up also getting a dark beer and I went with the Blue Moon Belgium White. (I'm a light beer fan!) Food and service here was fabulous, but one thing I noticed was the music overhead was seriously on FULL BLAST. Like to the point that I had a heard time hearing Mike at times because it was just so loud. Also, we had some two very loud parties sitting in our vicinity which didn't help. I know this isn't a library, but dang, can we turn down the music a few decibels please. That is my only complaint. read more

I go to Gallo's all the time. Food is always good and satisfactory service. However, tonight my wife and I and a friend got our checks and were charged 3.5% CC fee on the total purchase before we even laid down a credit card! It was the last line item, was hidden if you're not paying attention, and given this was the first time I've seen it on the bill, it could have easily been missed. When I asked the server about it, she rolled her eyes and said "I know, we just started doing it a few months ago". If your servers are reacting this way, it means your customers are the ones expressing the deception to them. *hint, hint* How is this not a cost of doing business? Merchant and interchange fees have always been there and haven't changed much, so why put this on your customer to pay all of a sudden? Increase prices if you need to, fine, at least the price is the price up front. COVID had passed so don't blame the pandemic, it's too easy. But don't surprise your regular paying customers by tacking on a last min additional charge. It's not the couple bucks, it's the principle, and if you're charging your customer for YOUR merchant fees, it's just tacky and a bad business move. You'll lose customers over this, trust me. read more

DC's tomato bisque was thick and flavorful; his Bangkok Shrimp was excellent, clearly made with fresh shrimp, not precooked. Gallos is truly one of my favorite places to enjoy a football game. The amount of TVs they have on the walls (and even in some of the booths) is amazing. They have on *most* games at all times and the energy is very contagious. They have daily specials as well. Every time I go I get their loaded fries, "the works". It's my absolute favorite thing on the menu. They don't skimp on the toppings, will add or subtract anything. Do not remove the cockfight sauce though.... it's a show stealer! Gallo's is one of my favorite spots in Columbus that I don't get to nearly enough. The food here is SO good, and the atmosphere is great for watching games and hanging out with friends. If I lived closer to Bethel Road, I'd probably be here all the time. The beer prices are very affordable, and on top of having TVs covering just about every wall, there's pool tables in the back as well. Above all, my favorite part about the Tap Room (Not to be confused with Gallo's Kitchen on Riverside Drive) is that they have some really great, elevated bar food. Amazing sandwiches, killer appetizers, delicious pizza, and some of my favorite wings in town. I highly recommend the Cockfight sauce. It's not super spicy, and it has a unique flavor. They put it on their loaded fries as well ("The Works"), which are definitely a must to order. They were delicious. Overall, I really wish this was a neighborhood bar for me. If I could walk here, I'd be here several times a week, and it seems like there's a lot of people who are regulars there, and it's easy to see why. A seriously great place to watch sports on over 30 tvs and get some delish food. My favorite is the margarita pizza, wings, chicken and waffles. So yummy! The chicken and waffles are perfectly cooked and have a little heat. The chicken reminds me of hot chicken takeover, yum! The margarita pizza has a traditional crust with savory marina sauce..and its huge! And of course a great beer selection. The burgers looked great (even though I do not eat burgers) and so did the pizza...The bartender was fantastic and so was the drink list! The bartender said the GF pizza was great because my company is GF, and so did the nice lady eating it... They apparently add broccoli to the crust instead of cauliflower, or maybe with it, I can't remember for sure but It was a great stop after walking through the Powell Adventure Park which is walking distance from downtown Powell. Visited Gallo's for a networking night for my alma mater recently - this was a decent place to grab a post-work drink! We had the event space reserved for our group, and it more than comfortably fit the 20-30 of us. I liked the setup of the room, with the high-top tables and bench-like tables, as it allowed for plenty of seating for us and allowed for a good amount of mingling. I was super impressed with the beer list - it was huge page! I always try to get a local beer, so I opted for By the Hammer of Gallagher by Somewhere in Particular in CBus. The description of watermelon, corriander, and sea salt intrigued me, and the gose-style was also attractive. The beer was incredibly refreshing and light, and the mixture of flavors somehow perfectly complimented each other to make for a nice beverage. Also only $5 for a 16 oz can - I was pleased! Just wished they had more of an extensive cider and non-beer (but still alcoholic) draft menu. Our group had also ordered food for everyone, but unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with it. The salad was pretty decent, but also hard to mess up salad - it had mixed field greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots with a balsamic vinaigrette. The pierogies were just OK - I felt that they had a ton of dough in proportion to the filling (the filling definitely got lost), and I would have liked if they had another flavor in addition to just the potato and cheese to give them a little something extra. My plate was also cleared off before I was finished eating, so wasn't a huge fan of that either, haha. I did not try the wings or pizza, but I heard pretty good things about them. The service was super quick the whole night, and the staff was accommodating to our group! Overall, I would give 4 stars for the beer and 2 stars for food, averaging to the 3 stars given. We visited Gallo's Tap Room by accident back in March. We had meant to go to Gallo's Kitchen and Bar but ended up in the wrong location. We were hungry and the other location wasn't open yet for the day so we decided to stay and give it a try and I am glad we did. We had the Shrimp Pot Stickers, the BBQ chicken strips, Garlic and Herb wings, and The Works fries. I don't like beer and my husband can't drink due to health reasons so we did not get to partake of the amazing selection of beverages but we did enjoy our food. The BBQ strips honestly did not look extremely appetizing when they arrived at the table but tasted good and the wings were nicely cooked with a great flavor. The fries were honestly the absolute best part though and I definitely recommend getting an order.
