Pokérrito - The spot - Sushi Bars Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

I've tried the other two Pokérritos in Vancouver and had good experiences. This was my first visit to this location and my first time trying the namesake pokérrito. Compared to the locations on W 8th and Hornby, this location is more optimized for takeout; the seating is just stools at counters along the walls and for me the counter was awkwardly high compared to the height of the stool. It was also a little loud. If you're just getting takeout it doesn't make a difference because the food is consistent between all locations, but I would recommend the other location downtown (or the W 8th location if that's in range) for a more comfortable dine-in experience. I tried the Diamond Head pokerrito and subbed out the spicy tuna for the vegan tuna. It's still not a vegan meal if you do this because there are other seafood ingredients in the wrap, but I wanted to try the vegan tuna. It was delicious but very messy because the pokérrito is essentially a giant sushi roll and not sealed at the ends. You kind of have to keep it wrapped in the paper while you eat it but there's no graceful way to eat the ends. I really enjoyed the flavours of this even if I had to get my hands dirty though. The vegan tuna is pretty good. The texture is close enough to real tuna that I wouldn't have noticed it was different if I didn't know. I also got a tiramisu. When I ordered, the person making my order informed me that it was still frozen but it was still good frozen, like ice cream. So I decided that I'd try it and it was pretty good as a frozen dessert except the large ladyfingers at the bottom were slower to soften and hard to scoop out. The coffee soaked into the ladyfingers was pretty strong and the bitterness was a nice contrast with the mascarpone cream. Their prices are very reasonable. The pokérrito and tiramisu came out to $19.90. read more

Had a random craving for poke when I was working from office. Got a regular build your own bowl for $17.8. Overall quite satisfied with my bowl. Generous portion for protein and lots of options for the toppings: I got spicy tuna and salmon with mango, cilantro, pineapple, jalapeno, radish, edamame, spicy seaweed and crunchy garlic. It's also nice that they let you mix two sauces (the wasabi and super spicy one in my case). read more

Cannot say enough good things about Pokeritto! It tastes so fresh, the sushi burrito is truly so delicious. The service was great, I love the atmosphere, and it is definitely worth the wait! I will definitely be returning next time I'm in the area. read more

I'm normally that person who will try a new thing than a sure thing on the menu...but with Pokerrito, it's different. The first time there, I ordered an Aburi poke. It was such a PERFECT balance of flavours and textures, I have now ordered it a dozen times and haven't yet tried other things on the menu! Eventually I suppose I'll order something else that has great reviews. It's just that such a perfect poke is so hard to come by! read more

I can totally see why the line-ups are out the door and and down the street, even for a Sunday!! Fresh ingredients, great preset combos or make your own bowl. Plenty of items to choose from. The downfall #1 parking is at a premium. Downfall #2 no bathrooms. read more

Well, I've been back a few times. Latest time, I had the regular bowl. Packed it with salmon and spicy tuna. Chose the wasabi basil sauce. Two sides were spicy seaweed salad and crabmeat. Toppings were edamame, radish slices, pea shoot, masago and grape tomatoes. The glass looks like it is lower now, unless I got taller which I doubt. They have more variety than before so that's good. It is still nice and clean with very limited seating. It is more of a take out place. The quality is consistent, staff are friendly and price is reasonable. read more

So worth the lunch line up! Careful, limited seating. Full flavours ;)

Poke bowls are one of the food trends that I actually really like. At first I thought they're just like deconstructed sushi, but they're actually so much more! The available sauces to pick from are refreshing and the toppings add texture and a bit of crunch to every bite. I also really like green seaweed salad, which is not usually found in typical sushi rolls. (I can probably eat a whole bowl of just green seaweed salad!) They have pre-determined bowls with their own combos, but I like to go for the build-my-own poke bowl (similar to building a Subway)! This way, I can fill it with all my favourites and make it the ultimate bowl customized to satisfy each and every one of my taste buds, no joke. If it's your first time here, it may be a little confusing because the order of building does not match the order of the displayed menu. You start with a Base (I'd suggest brown rice bowl) and then I don't remember the rest of the order but staff was really friendly so they will help you out! My friend got the burrito which is quite interesting, but she had some trouble breaking apart the seaweed. For protein, I'd suggest adding 50 cents for the wild sockeye salmon, worth it! Pokerrito has quite a variety of sauces compared to other poke places I've been to, but I'm forever loyal to umami sauce; it is a must for me! (Some poke places don't even have umami sauce!) I'm so glad we have this distinct fifth sense of taste because it is heavenly and will leave you craving for more. I feel super healthy and refreshing eating poke bowls and each ingredient is already tasty on its own, so the synergy is even more amazing. For me, I also find it nice to eat a 'raw' meal once in a while and this is much better than a salad! =P The only downside to this small cute place is that it is pretty small. If you come during peak hours, it'll be hard to find a seat. However, their bowls are packaged so well that you can do it as a take-out easily! read more

I am not in Vancouver often but when I am, this place is always on my list to visit. This was probably the best Sushi burrito I have had. I have tried goPoke in Seattle, had Metropolitan Market ones, the one from Sam Choy's Poke to the Max in Seattle and Samuari Burrito in CA. Not to say the others were bad, because they weren't but if you were comparing, this place was at the top of the list in my opinion. (Also not listed in any kind of order) When my friend and I went here, there was a short line but it moves quickly. We split the Diamond Head Pokerrito and the Hanauma Pokerrito. Both were giant in size and filled with a generous amount of fillings. If you do not normally eat a lot, you probably want to split, just so you do not have to try and save half. The flavors were on point and the ingredients were fresh. The shop was small so I wouldn't really recommend planning on sitting down to eat but you can, if you get lucky and find a seat. It was very clean and the decor was simple but in a nice way. If you are craving sushi or want a pokerrito, I would recommend trying out this place. I also wish they would come to Seattle :) read more

Of the couple of poké places in Vancouver, I'd have to say that Pokéritto is the better one of the bunch. I came here on Boxing Day and needed a quick bite. When I arrived, I was glad to see that the line up was short and there were plenty of seats as they're quite limited with seating. The last few times I've gotten the burrito version and found that while I liked the novelty of a sushi-burrito wrap, it was a mess to eat. This time I got the bowl and it was nice not looking like such a slob while eating it. They offer a handy menu so you know how many portions of what you get included with the price and what are the adds ons, which I found very convenient because I haven't come in a while. I chose a regular-sized bowl with white rice, salmon and scallop for my protein, with 2 scoops crab meat, corn, tamago, tobiko, kale, cucumber, lettuce, the signature umami sauce, and crispy onions on top. It tasted so good and was perfect for a cloudy day. Any kind of day really is a good day for poké. I really liked all the choices I got to add and it worked well together. I haven't had a traditional Hawaiian poké bowl before so I cannot judge it for authenticity, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. I would say it's not the most filling, even if you got an extra scoop of protein, so maybe don't treat this as a main meal. There was complimentary lemon water which I appreciated it, and they also have an assortment of other drinks you can get. read more

Top Quality. Was really satisfied. Expensive but good. Recommend it to everyone. The Hornby location is good too.

So good, flavors were on point and ingredients were fresh and tasty. Highly recommend

I love poke and this place does not disappoint in flavour, presentation or price. I've only ever purchased lunch for delivery but I've been very satisfied each time. I look forward to getting the opportunity to visit the location. Highly recommend! read more

One of my favourite poke places in town! I used to work downtown and would get this all the time. The fish here always tastes fresh and I like the fact that they have many of my favourite toppings (you can choose up to 5 toppings). I always get the ahi tuna one (i'm a tuna fan). Also you can your own bowl for 10% off as well. read more

Healthy, fast (if you get here before noon), delicious and relatively cheap for lunch downtown. Pokerrito is my favorite stop. I love the fact that I can choose exactly what I want in a sushi bowl. My favorite combination is salmon sashimi, scallops, kale, cucumber, lettuce, Wakame salad, radish, corn, edamane beans, masago, fish flakes on brown rice with umami house sauce. Overall it's pretty healthy and price is reasonable at $11 (tax in) for the regular bowl. read more

I love the Hawaiian style poke where the fish has been marinated, so you get to see trays of marinated fish. This is my 2nd foray into the world of poke in Vancouver and sadly it has not been a "wow" experience. While the fish and ingredients are fresh, I really dislike it when they only toss the fish in the sauce upon ordering. It just does not give the fish enough time to soak in the sauce at all. Plus you would think the price of lettuce or cilantro has shot through the roof when you see the staff "count" how many pieces of greens to put into your bowl. They also do not do a full scoop of fish. The line is often long because it takes a while to serve each customer, so do not come here if you are in a hurry, It is also a small place with seating along the bar counters. Just order your food to go. The container is very sturdy, that I feel it is a waste to just dump it after eating. read more

After visiting Maui last year I fell in love with poke and was excited to try the new poke restaurants in vancouver. Had amazing experiences at both pacific poke on Main Street and west coast poke on Cambie and 8th. Came here on Boxing Day for the first time. Staff was very gruff and unpleasant. Ordered a north shore bowl and a Waikiki bowl. The north shore bowl was ok but the waikiki bowl was way too hot as they clearly had put too much wasabi in the bowl. I took a couple bites of the Waikiki bowl before taking it back to the cashier and telling him about it but he couldn't care less and he ended up throwing it away as it was simply too hot to eat. Not really a poke bowl in the traditional sense if that's what you're looking for. I've had really good poke before (eg poke at Eskimo candy in Maui) and this restaurant was a pale imitation. Not enough fish and too many other extraneous ingredients. But mainly will not be back again due to rude staff and poor customer service. read more

I had so much expectations here after trying Poke in USA. So I expected this place to be real Poke place but it turned out more of a sashimi japanese burrito place. Not Poke. Poke is marinated seafood or fish. Not authentic at all. But it does taste good because I love Sashimi. So I had the salmon and scallop burrito with corn, tamago, seaweed, immitation crab, lettuce, etc. with their house sauce. The Burrito was pretty big. But I noticed both ends are left opened. Meaning that if you remove the wrapper it will be very messy and things will start falling apart. So the burrito came with 2 scoops of meat for $10.50 or 3 scoops for a bit more $$. I find that the scoops are not full scoops. Its basically a bit over half a scoop each. They are not generous on the sashimi. I would even say kind of cheap because you can see it through the way they scoop it. It tasted like a big chirashi burrito. Line up is about 5 to 10 mins. The place is super small. I ended up taking the burrito to BCIT and eat it there. Will I come back. Maybe. read more

Great for big portions, value, and freshness is downtown! They are Ocean Wise which means that they cheese seafood products that are ocean-friendly and sustainable. They also encourage you to bring your own bowl by giving a 10% off incentive for using your own container. The container must be a food grade re-usable container. I absolutely love Pokeritto for encouraging customers to reuse and reduce packaging waste. The portions are very generous so I recommend to bring bigger container than what you normally use for lunch. I will normally get brown rice bowl with 2 scoops of salmon protein. The ingredients they use are always really fresh. You also get generous scoops of 2 sides and 5 toppings. read more

I came here after 7pm, so the restaurant was less busy and I didn't have to wait to order. The exterior design of the restaurant is simple, but it is contemporary and clean. It is quite attractive among other restaurants on the street. I ordered their signature north shore poke bowl with brown rice and extra sauce. It tasted delicious. The veggies, tuna and other ingredients were fresh. The server created the poke bowl at the counter, so you could see how he or she did it in front of you. There are counter height seats or stools. Some of them are facing the street. Some are facing a wall on the opposite side of the counter. Eating this poke bowl won't take too long. You can order take out instead of eating in. I saw the pokerrito was delicious too, but I wouldn't be able to eat so much all at once. I would love to come back here to try pokerrito next time. read more

As stated earlier, a C minus rating all things considered. One thing ANY business serving food can do to improve MY perception of it, (as a lifelong hospo / food services worker), is be scrupulously CLEAN. THIS restaurant was tatty and grubby as my 1st impression. paper on floor, counter top sticky, needed a GOOD wipe and clean, ditto the bottles of condiments. Dine in option was uncomfortable, chairs cramped into weird position by window, it's a small space. Attitude: they're not the friendliest crew in my experience. We did try to 'connect'....maybe they're overworked? cultural dissonance? I didn't speak their native language, at any rate, no chit chat, no "how's everything with yer meal", how's yer day? etc.... none o dat stuff...just gimme da $ ambience in our opinions. food is average and over priced for what it is AFTER they nickle n dime with the extras / 'premium' stuff : to wit avocado, sesame seeds, wasabi & 'proteins' which were all ordinary including their 'ahi' and sockeye allegedly premium they weren't) options. It's decent poke, a passing grade a 'C', but it's FAR from premium quality, and twenty bucks almost for my large build yer own bowl is excessive imho. read more

(Migrating old reviews from my account on another review site to here) I really like the ability to choose what goes into my poke bowl/rrito since I hate cucumbers. I usually have to pick them out. When you come in, you'll be met with a wall of instructions on how to order. You basically choose all your toppings and then you choose whether you want your toppings to go in a rice burrito, rice bowl, or a salad bowl. The main determinant of your price is what protein you get and how much (2 scoops vs. 3 scoops). I thought it was a little too pricey, and the pokerrito was kind of hard to eat as it kept falling apart on me. read more

Easily my favourite poke place! I find that Pokerrito has a really great variety of protein and toppings to go into your poke bowl compared to a lot of the other poke places. And they really fill up your bowl! The best part is their sauce and I really like their umami flavour. Their protein are not premarinated like the ones in Hawaii but the sauce that they toss it in still makes it really flavorful! This place does get super busy during lunch hours on weekdays where the line can reach the door, so I would recommend going a little earlier for lunch or try them during off hours. read more

Finally got into this Poke bowl hype after seeing all these new poke places pop up around the city and I am a fan. Raw fish, greens, basically sushi ingredients all mixed up in a bowl with delicous sauce -- what's not to love?! Pokerrito was good. The first poke resto I tried and it didn't disappoint. I made my own bowl of salmon, spicy tuna, brown rice, wakame, mixed greens, brown rice and a bunch of other items I don't remember with their umami sauce and it was pretty awesome. Love that they ask if you want extra sauce as you're paying and give you a generous pour. Fast, easy, healthy and affordable, will defn return. read more

I'm a huge fan of this new poke trend taking over the world! I needed a quick lunch to go and this spot was on my way back to my hotel. Perfect. I went with the large bowl filled with warm brown rice. Large = 3 small scoops of fish vs the smaller two scoops. I opted for the surcharged fish ($1 & .50) for the ahi tuna and the wild salmon, and worth it! You pick your sauce, then you pick your (5) toppings, add-ons, more sauce and boom. They do have a menu with suggestions, but none of them called out to me. Service was friendly, portions are huge (mostly rice), but the large was so filling, I could barely finish it all (read: barely), all for about $15 CAD. A few seats at the window counter area, but this is definitely a more of a to-go type spot. I'd come again! read more

[Sushi Subway] If a sushi joint and subway had a love child, Pokerrito would be it. I've been here twice now and it doesn't disappoint. The setup is simple - you pick 2 or 3 sushi toppings (ie. raw fish) atop a bed of rice with a good selection of sode toppings such as corn, seaweed salad, japanese pickles, etc. You can decide what format you'd like your meal - burrito or salad bowl. It's a little overwhelming if it's your first visit so there's premade selections if building one yourself is too stressful. On my first visit, I went with the Waikiki pre-set combination in a bowl format. The second time warranted a DIY sushi burrito filled with spicy tuna, spicy salmon, octopus, and spicy wakame. Deeelish! Fish was fresh and the toppings were plentiful. All the options are the same size but the scoops of protein dictate the difference between "large" (3 scoops) and "regular" (2 scoops). At $10 for a regular and $13 for a large, value is excellent. The shop is not overly large and is designed more for takeout than sit in. There's some counter seating for maybe 10 people at best but don't count on getting a seat. Either way, it's a delicious healthy option that wont break the bank. read more

I like coming to this poke place for a quick and easy meal. I like the poke they serve here as their ingredients and fish are always fresh. I tend to build my own bowl but you can also have them make it like a burrito or choose a set poke bowl on the wall menu. I like ordering the regular bowl as I find this already filling. They give you lots of toppings so it's quite filling already. But if you're hungry, the large bowl costs $13.40 (3 scoops of protein) and regular costs #10.99 (2 scoops of protein). Some of the protein on the menu costs extra, but i do like their Ahi tuna which is $.100 + a scoop. The staff prepares your poke quite quickly which I like; especially when you're in a rush. The lineups goes by fast as they are pretty efficient. The place is a bit small but I believe mostly everyone takes their food to-go as their is limit seating available. I find that the side seats near the wall are a bit cramp as people lineup around that area. I would recommend definitely recommend this poke place as this is a nice and quick easy lunch with decent prices! read more

Impressed by the portion size and freshness of this place! The place always has a huge line outside for several hours during lunch time. I was hesitant to wait in line at first but it moves very quickly and the staff are so nice and efficient. The only downside is that there is very little seating in the store. Some highlights -- they give a generous portion of fish and you can choose more than 1 type -- overall portion is also very large (could barely finish a regular) -- lots of options for customization with tons of toppings and sauces. Can also have it in a bowl, burrito, salad. -- everything tastes very fresh -- friendly staff -- ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY! 10% off for bringing your own tupperware. How awesome is that!? read more

With poke becoming more and more popular in Vancouver lately, I decided to take myself for some poke again. I've been to Poke Time, which I thought was good but my poke bowl contained too much lettuce and not enough flavour for me to want to devour it all right away. My mission at pokerrito was to try the burrito, as aside from the bowls, it is one of the variations of poke they offer. I decided to try a preset mix, going with the hanuama burrito to satisfy my raw salmon craving. I didn't realize that eating a poke burrito would be THAT hard.... things were falling out as I ate my way through this deliciously amazing blend of ingredients- I was stuffing myself because it was so good. My friend had a preset poke bowl and from looking at it, I could tell it had a lot more main ingredients and sauces than the one I'd had at Poke Time. I was extremely happy with my Pokerrito experience- other than looking like a total mess while eating. I'm sticking to the BOWLS from now on! read more

My kid and I are still talking about our lunch here and we WISH there were such a place near where we lived. My kid said she'd go daily for lunch or dinner here if there were such a restaurant near us. And she would. And I probably would, too. Every day. Forever. This place is small. There isn't much room to sit to eat. But omg it is so good. There are endless choices of fresh foods to either put in a bowl, in a salad or to be wrapped in a burrito-like wrapping. They have some specialty options for meals or you can design your own, which we did. We had a bowl with brown rice, salmon and shrimp, avocado, lots of corn, avocado, edamane, cilantro, and other veggies and crab and more stuff I forget, with some light vinaigrette on it. I cannot impress on you, dear reader, how incredibly delicious it was. It defies words. One wouldn't think this bowl of humble ingredients would be so amazing, but it was. It was. The warm brown rice was just perfectly cooked and the best foundation for the bowl. One bowl was a good-sized meal for my teen kid and I to share. Very generous portion. My friend had his choice ingredients wrapped in a burrito. I wouldn't have thought they'd be able to wrap so many ingredients in a wrap but they somehow did. This was probably the best lunch we had in recent memory - if not ever. I'm not exaggerating. read more

I heard this restaurant was new in Vancouver, although the concept of poke and sushi burritos is by no means new to Canada. I came on a Monday afternoon a bit after the usual lunch time (around 3 PM) so there were only three people in front of me in line. Despite the relatively small number of people though, the process took much longer than expected... like 15-20 minutes? There seemed to be plenty of people (about 5-6) employees working, so I really did not understand what was causing the delay and wasn't all too pleased. I like that they offer plenty of options for you to customize your poke bowl/burrito, however I did find it to be a little bit overwhelming so opted for the pre-made North Shore burrito. They were kind enough to let me substitute the albacore tuna with salmon too. The price of the burrito was quite good, as it is a full-sized burrito for $10.50. I have had a sushi burrito in another city and I think it was like $9 for about half a burrito. However, I thought the flavour here was a bit lacking - perhaps the sauce wasn't evenly distributed, as some parts of my burrito were very bland, while others were pretty good. I might come back to try a bowl, hopefully it will be more flavourful. However, I don't think it's worth the wait if there's a long line. read more

A 2.5/5 experience, but no half-star option. A little over $13 inclusive of taxes in for a very average bowl of their version of "poke". Stopped in for a late takeout lunch - service was lacklustre: the smiles clearly put on and with a clear "I'd rather be doing anything other than this vibe". I ordered a regular bowl: spicy tuna, diced fruit, some greens and spicy seaweed on rice. Everything in the bowl was tastier than the spicy tuna, which was not spicy a little bland and well could be summed up with "blah". At least it didn't taste like it had gone bad I guess! The highlight of the contents of the bowl was the spicy seaweed and cilantro. The bowl looked good, tasted meh and a couple of hours after I'm not sick, I'm grateful for that. No, I won't bother doing that again. read more

Having just got back from Hawaii last week....be warned this review is a bit biased. My first attempt to try this place was on a Sunday. Turns out they were closed for some unknown reason. Tried again on a Saturday and was greeted with a short line up (I've seen the line up out the door during the weekday.) You can make your own bowl or select from one of their pre-designed options. I ordered the hanuama because it had salmon and because I was snorkeling there last week. Although the spelling was a bit different? First thing I noticed that the girl who took my order wiped her nose with the back of her glove. Uh I prayed she didn't touch the food. Luckily I ordered a bowl. Then she told me that they were out of regular salmon so they only had farmed salmon which was going to cost me an extra $0.50 per scoop (2 scoops per bowl). Unimpressed, I ordered one scoop and went with a scoop of spicy tuna (at no extra charge). Then the next girl who mixed the ingredients also wiped her nose with the back of her hand! Uhh. Again she didn't touch the food with her hands. Just used a spoon. But it still grossed me out. Finally got through the line quickly. When I went to pay, the cashier also sneezed into her hand. Hopefully the staff aren't all sick. Overall paid $10.50 for a regular bowl. Ingredients are fresh and are probably healthier than other options around. Definitely likes this bowl over the competition down the road. However not sure why vancouver poke is trying to reinvent the wheel by offering too many options/add ons. Isn't poke about the fish?? I visited Pokerrito for the first time last week and this was also my first time trying a poké bowl. I'm really not sure why people are giving this place bad reviews for their customer service.....I went around 1pm and there were only about 7 people in line and the staff were SUPER friendly and helpful. Maybe when it's the lunchtime rush the staff are just doing their job and trying to efficiently get people out as quick as possible so you're not waiting in line forever... Nevertheless, friendly staff, the food is very fresh and yummy. I do wish they had avocado more often (maybe they just run out by the time i get there?) and i wish they marinated the fish like other places supposedly do. I got the regular sized bowl with albacore and spicy tuna, edamame, sprouts, corn, crabmeat, masago, ginger and sesame seeds. Topped off with mayo and sweet chili. MMM! I got here on a Friday night at 8pm and they had run out of mixed salad leaves. So I asked if I can have a salad bowl with the kale, they wouldn't do it. OK, I'll have the burrito then without the rice, nope. Guess I don't have a choice but to have the bowl. Next, they ran out of salmon but I can have the wild sockeye salmon for an extra $1.50. Well... no thanks. So I ended up with 3 scoops of tuna, a tiny spoonful of kale and brown rice, jalapeños, ginger, wakame and 3 scoops of masago with their deathly sweet umami sauce.
