Aloha. I seem to have the Law on my back constantly! Dayum I gotta get my life together! As I sat in court looking out the window, my belly started aching badly. I was so hangry. So once the first court session ended, I ran into - The Poke Guy. LMFAO don't worry - nope I wasn't in court & I'm highly allergic to crime. The Law Courts are just across the street from TPG. So here I was chowing down on my order looking out the window at Vancouver's main Law Court. I was thinking that I hadn't been to watch a trial in awhile & maybe next month I might pop in & catch one in progress. But there sure has been quite a bit of court drama on TV to watch lately ... wasn't there!?! Crazy world. Poke originated in Hawaii & that's what TPG has going theme wise throughout this spot. Very cool & makes me wish I was back on Waikiki Beach again. Poke bowls are quite healthy & very easy on the belly = you won't feel like you gained 10lbs every time you eat Poke. They say chew your food several times before swallowing & gosh Poke has me doing a lot of chewing. My body feels good after every bowl. TPG is spaced out nicely with plenty of seating, very cool decor & high ceiling. TPG guarantees supreme quality & freshness that's gluten free. Located at a prime spot close to Robson St & the Granville Mall, & very close to the Pacific Centre Mall. There's actually a nice seating area outside at Robson Square across the street (part of the Law Courts) so if the weather's nice, grab your Poke bowl & go sit outside. If you've seen my review & check-ins of late, you'll notice I've been having a lot of Poke! This was my first time here so I wanted to try something different so I went with the promo Hawaiian Butter Garlic Shrimp. I really enjoyed it. Can't wait to get back here & try other Poke bowls. Mahalo!

I came especially to try their Hawaiian plate lunch; I've never seen these on offer anywhere else in Vancouver. I got the spicy aburi tuna plate lunch. They actually torch the tuna when you order! The combination of pasta salad with rice was odd to me, I wish there was an option to use salad as the base instead of rice, but I really enjoyed this bowl. The pasta salad was great, as was the fish and the spicy mayo (it was actually pretty spicy). The pineapple was very obviously from a can and tasted a little weak; fresh would have been better but that's a small detail. I also got a butter mochi. These come packaged in a plastic bag and had a bit of that packaged baked good sheen to it (sorry if this is not a universal experience and no one knows what I'm talking about) but getting past that, I have yet to find a really good and FRESH butter mochi in Vancouver and this is probably the best one I've had. It was very gooey in the middle and just a little crisp outside. The shop has ample seating and had a nice atmosphere with lots of natural light from the big windows. Very clean. I'd come back.

The Poke itself is good. They extra charge $2.50 for "premium" ingredients that aren't premium (tobiko, green onions etc). Very very small scoops of poke. They extra charge if you want more than one sauce. Extra charge for everything. Very frustrating. Will go to Pokerito instead

Build Your Own Lil' Guy Poke Bowl with a small tomato coconut soup

Found this gem nearby my new office and ordered the Hawaiian Huli Ribs Plate. I can honestly say that this place actually reminds me of Hawaii. The ribs were tender and fall off the bone delicious - didn't require a knife to cut through the rib meat. The mac side salad that came with it also hit the spot and while picking up my online order at the store, I saw the large matcha white chocolate cookie and it was AMAZING! It had almost a mochi like texture to it and had a great matcha flavour without any of the bitterness. For my second visit, I ordered the Build Your Own Lil' Guy Poke Bowl with the Salmon mixed with onion poke and a small tomato coconut soup. The poke bowl was a good portion for the price but the salmon poke pieces were super tiny - the salmon might be almost the same size as the corn nibblets. Other than that, the poke was fresh and delicious. The tomato coconut soup was only okay and was a bit pricey for its tiny size. Will definitely be back, especially for the matcha cookie!

the poke guy is my fave for go to poke. both locations are great, the one on howe is slightly more convenient (across from the law courts, in between chipotle and tendon kohaku). we make our own bowls with the l'il guy or big guy, but should also try their signature poke bowls one of these days. it's nice to be able to customize your bowls with whatever you want, options include choosing a base, rice, white or brown, salad, choice of sides, protein, and the sauces. the poke guy has a lot of great sauces, i usually go with the wasabi mayo and sesame mayo, and there's lots of crispy toppings to add crunch and texture. they are partnered with ocean wise, seafood is ethically sourced and offer good quality ingredients. they are environmentally conscious, the bowls and cutlery are compostable. portions are filling, everything looks fresh, tastes good, and is healthy eating. service is fast, friendly, and efficient. the howe street location is brightly lit, and has seats available for dine in. they also have matcha white chocolate cookies, these often sell out fast. rewards program is available.

I loved my lunch there! The place is big, clean and bright. The service is super friendly and helpful and their Poke is very very fresh. Actually one of the best Pokes I've had. I really like how many options they have. You can design your own Poke or have popular Bowls depending on your taste and they also have a hot menu, which is great! Every single ingredient in my Poke bowl was incredibly fresh. I'll be back to try their other items! :) YUMMM!

Came here on a Thursday and it wasn't too busy. We were told by the staff to wait 10 minutes which we were fine with. We ate there. We ordered the locomoco and the ribs with brown rice. Each dish comes with macaroni and corn. The locomoco was really soft and the patty was very flavourful. The egg was perfectly cooked and did that beautiful egg pop. The ribs were fall off the bone perfect. The ribs are definitely on the sweeter side and they have a bit of smokiness to it. It went so well with the rice. My biggest regret with both dishes was the macaroni salad. It felt like it was lacking some flavour. Perfectly cooked to Al dente. But it was missing some flavour to it other than sweetness. The ribs and locomoco are sweet, the corn is sweet and so is the macaroni. I just feel like it needed something else but hey that's just me. Overall we love this place because it is super close to work. Can't wait to be back in the summer for their poke

Build your own bowl - Big Guy Bowl - $10.95 (2 portions of rice and 8 toppings) added 2 scoops of poke

Happy Grand Opening for the 2nd location! All the same Hawaiian goodness at a bigger location As of Oct 21, 2021, they are not offering their plate lunches yet. I came here and grabbed a couple of poke bowls. The staff are very helpful with the menu! While they have signature bowls, I like to Build my own Bowl. The difference between a large and small bowl is the portion of rice and more toppings. Proteins are extra: Mini $7.95 (rice + 3 toppings) Small $8.95 (rice + 5 toppings) Large $10.95 (double rice and 8 toppings) They offer a good selection of bases - white rice and brown rice with mixed greens as the base. Both brown and white rice were made perfect and no mushy rice here! - cauliflower - kale and quinoa The ahi tuna is marinated and very fresh. Although the protein scoops are small, its worth it to add the other proteins -- I like the spicy tuna,Lomi Lomi and Sockeye Salmon. Extra Protein ranges from $ 1.75 to 3.50 I love the mac salad topping here, it totally brings me back to Hawaii As for sauces, I love the hulapeno, spicy mayo and ponzu combination Also, must try the wasabi peas for crunch! Hopefully they offer the plate lunch soon, because the kalua pork and huli huli chicken brings all the aloha !!

Chicken karaage Lunch Special Bowl (Friday)

Very clean Modern Hawaiian Restaurant when walking in. They have a great selection of Hawaiian food from custom poke bowls to lunch platters that include brown or white rice, pineapple, Mac salad, corn and the main. Service was super friendly and very helpful with recommendations! What I ordered: * Chicken Karaage Lunch Special Bowl (fridays) $13.50 with tax So what I like about the chicken is it was still crispy 15mins later when I had ordered take out but unfortunately the chicken was a little dry, the brown rice was as well dry, the pineapple wasn't sweet nor juicy, corn was okay and Mac salad had no taste and was not creamy. Katsu sauce for the chicken as well was more on the sour side, was not savoury or sweet. Didn't taste authentic Hawaiian to me. Maybe because I've been to Hawaii and have gone to many Hawaiian bbqs in the USA but this bowl was disappointing. Probably wouldn't come back but very friendly service and clean restaurant hence the 3 stars.

Over priced salmon ok tuna was bad quality only a deal if you get big size. Rice not cooked properly

    Broke da mouth poke bowl

Been to the Richards location of The Poke Guy several times, this is the newer Howe Street location (which ironically used to be a location of another poke restaurant). Had the Broke da mouth bowl and found it delicious. I highly recommend, and will repeat as its not too far from work and also home for me. Thanks The Poke Guy!

    Da Classic Poke Bowl.
    Peter C.

Enjoyed my first poke bowl from them today and really the quality of my Classic bowl. Poke bowls in general have gotten more expensive in general so it was a pleasant surprise that the quality was worth the price here. I will definitely try their other bowls next time.

This was my first time having a poke bowl and it did not disappoint! Everything was recyclable and the price was great for the size of the bowls.

Good poke bowl with pretty large portions. Heavy on the rice but that works out good for me since I love rice.

Compared to the locations on W 8th and Hornby, this location is more optimized for takeout; the seating is just stools at counters along the walls and for me the counter was awkwardly high compared to the height of the stool. It was also a little loud. If you're just getting takeout it doesn't make a difference because the food is consistent between all locations, but I would recommend the other location downtown (or the W 8th location if that's in range) for a more comfortable dine-in experience. I tried the Diamond Head pokerrito and subbed out the spicy tuna for the vegan tuna. It's still not a vegan meal if you do this because there are other seafood ingredients in the wrap, but I wanted to try the vegan tuna. It was delicious but very messy because the pokérrito is essentially a giant sushi roll and not sealed at the ends. You kind of have to keep it wrapped in the paper while you eat it but there's no graceful way to eat the ends. I really enjoyed the flavours of this even if I had to get my hands dirty though. The vegan tuna is pretty good. The texture is close enough to real tuna that I wouldn't have noticed it was different if I didn't know. I also got a tiramisu. When I ordered, the person making my order informed me that it was still frozen but it was still good frozen, like ice cream. So I decided that I'd try it and it was pretty good as a frozen dessert except the large ladyfingers at the bottom were slower to soften and hard to scoop out. The coffee soaked into the ladyfingers was pretty strong and the bitterness was a nice contrast with the mascarpone cream. Their prices are very reasonable. The pokérrito and tiramisu came out to $19.90.

Generous portion for protein and lots of options for the toppings: I got spicy tuna and salmon with mango, cilantro, pineapple, jalapeno, radish, edamame, spicy seaweed and crunchy garlic. Way back…read morebefore COVID was in existence, my coworkers and I would grab poke pretty frequently from Steve's Poké Bar for lunch at Lougheed. We all loved having this as a lunch option because it's, well, relatively more nutritious and clean than say, burgers or fried Vietnamese spring rolls. So, my bro and I decided to give the SFU location a try and waiting in steady anticipation for our custom poke bowls. The food came relatively quickly and the portions are still quite generous but...the sauce department was lacking. We both felt like there wasn't enough flavour to the poke, and the plain white rice was starting to overtake the delicious toppings. It was a bit different from my past experiences with the Lougheed location. Anyways, still got my poke fix, though I may lean towards trying Pokey Okey more next time haha

I made my own bowl, which is always a lot of fun. First time I've had quinoa as a base, but let's give it a go! I think I went for most of the items, except for the ones where you had to pay extra. The tuna I got was fresh, as were the other ingredients. I went wild on adding sauces at the end. I designed a great concoction. I didn't get a seat at 3pm on a Thursday, so I had to walk back to campus to eat it. A quick thing I learned the hard way, if you want quinoa, use a spoon. Overall, friendliest staff I've met on campus, delicious choices, and quick service.
