We were looking for a quick bite on a Saturday night and found this. Place was very quiet and they close at 8pm. We were a bit hesitant to try but decided to enter. It's a pretty standard poke place but how else can you elevate a poke bowl... Bowls are made from your favourite ingredients and sauces. One ingredient that stood out is the fried onion/shallot and garlic that gave a crunchy texture to my poke. Spicy Salmon, Shoyu Tuna and Sweet Salmon had anything barely left as if they're closing soon already. Each had a scoop left - not very enticing to walk in to a place where they're rushing to close. We were in the area and decided to stop by to get some poke. There wasn't a long line, so we were able to get food very quickly. There was a lot of fresh variety typical of poke, but I think what was most unique was the kale noodles, which is a sub for the rice. It tasted really good and my price liked it very much. When we were they, the lady offered us miso soup on the house (which was originally $1) which was very nice of her! The food was good and totally Happy to come by another time! read more

One detail i really enjoyed is how they actually mix the veggies and dressing for you in a separate container before adding to the protein and rice. 3.5 I've been here a few time since the start of COVID with consistently varied satisfaction. With each visit, there's been some improvement. A few months ago, they forgot a protein on a medium order. When we called in, they weren't sure how to fix the bowl, fortunately we live close by and went back. The bowl was otherwise very well done and ingredients tasted fresh. I picked up a large bowl today and it was ready though I arrived early - efficient! The server was helping someone else but friendly and acknowledged me right away. I thought the amount of sauce was a little heavy handed but that's a preference thing. The fish was fine. Not super fresh tasting but a much better protein:base:mix-in ratio than before. read more

Poke is a seriously delicious food that I wish had become mainstream much earlier on. Think of it as sushi meets salad- a lovely combination. Not only is it healthy, and therefore ideal for someone like me who is trying to lose weight, it's also quite filling. A bowl of poke and you'll be satisfied for a good chunk of your day. For these reasons, Poke Bar stands out to me even amidst a strip mall full of traditional fast food options. The staff are very polite, efficient, and professional. My only concern is that the retail unit they occupy has two sets doors, which would make it easy for them to designate each set an entrance and exit only, to facilitate physical distancing during the COVID-19 crisis. However, they have on set of doors locked, forcing everyone to enter and exit in close proximity through the same set of doors. read more

Hygiene alert: Today I went to Pokebar to order a dish take-out at 5:40pm, May 13th Wednesday. One of the servers started my Pokebar order. There is a little silver bowl that they grab from a section and they slide the little silver bowl along the counter. She put salmon and tunas into the silver bowl, to pour them into my main bowl of rice. But when she did that, the bottom of the silver bowl SMASHED into my rice. I was shocked when I saw that, but said nothing right away because my mind was still processing what was happening. I told her about it and she countered, "The silver bowls are clean, they are one time use." So I said ok. But then I remembered that she slid the silver bowl across the counter once or twice, before it touched my rice. It wasn't a light touch either, the rice actually got smushed from the push of the silver bowl's bottom. (Please see my illustration). So all the germs and dirt from the counter on that bottom of the bowl is pressed on my rice. I have worked in food service before, and our managers always trained us to be very careful on food and safety hygiene! So this girl was not trained properly by the manager there, or she was sloppy and forgot, I don't know which reason. She was a chubbier Asian girl than the rest, so it's easy to spot her if you go in to order. So I stayed there to watch the other girl to see if she would make the same mistake. The chubby girl went over to her and whispered something in her ear about me, maybe something like "She's watching us, be careful with your bowl." The other girl then was very careful with her bowl, so I watched the next girl. She also was careful with her bowl, so it was only the chubby girl who made the mistake with mine. I did not feel comfortable now, and decided I would like to exchange for a new one. As I waited in line for the chubby girl to come back to me, a tall thin Chinese girl with glasses acted rude to me and said, "Can you move???" because other customers were coming in and of social distancing. I had done nothing wrong, but now that tall thin girl became a little bit rude and aggressive when I am a purchasing customer. I moved and smiled, but thought that she was out of line to treat me this way because she found it 'annoying' that I was not happy with my purchase of my dirty rice. Anyway, this review would have been 1 star, but I made it 2 stars because the chubby girl re-did my order and apologize. I don't know if she was sincere about her apology, I am sure she would just backtalk about this after I leave. But you know what? I will also write my review so the Pokebar manager and franchise will know that they need to train their staff better on hygiene and food safety. I am not one of those snobby or high maintenance customers. I am a girl who has worked in the food industry for many years and had different managers always tell us to be clean and safe with the food. This was just a very sloppy training from what I saw today. Also, I ordered a large which is 2 full scoops of rice. So the 2nd time she re-did my order, she put in 1 + 1/4 scoops because they were out of white rice. She was too lazy to fill the rest of it with brown rice or grab another new white rice. Or she did it on purpose because she was annoyed at me so she figured putting in less as a little 'punishment' at me. I notice all these little details because I was a food worker for many years and we are meticulous about giving the same amount consistently to customers. Advice to Pokebar: 1) Train your staff to be hygienic and perform the same way. All the girls poured the sashimi from the silver bowl to the paper rice bowl carefully, but the chubby girl's silver bowl bottom smashed into the rice. When she did it a 2nd time to re-make mine, I noticed she still poured it differently than the other girls. It still was slightly touching the food, whereas the other girls don't make contact with the bottom of the silver bowl into the paper bowl. 2) Train your managers to be polite and to ask about the problem. The tall thin girl barked at me to move, when she should have asked me what the problem was and how to resolve it. If she was the manager or assistant manager, she needs to work on her people skills. 3) Most likely Pokebar will ignore this review and the email I will send them, but we will see. If they reply politely and acknowledge the issue, I will update this review and let you all know what happens. read more

This place was a big disappointment, anyone who probably left a review on this place is most likely paid or a "friendly" comment. My coworkers and I placed an order and all of our bowls received 4 pieces of sashimi, and they were probably no bigger than quarter per slice. I called and complaint because I felt that it was not worth what we have paid for. They promised to give us a full refund but it's been more than a week and still no refund. I don't care too much about how much a bowl is but after receiving this order it was such a disappointment that I would rather go to Costco for samples and get full off from that lol. read more

OMG.... my fave new poke bar in greater vancouver! Love at first bite! Apparently poke bar is a chain from the US... or franchise. They have alot of different protein selections, sauces, toppings and my absolute fave is their KALE noodles! soooooo good. they are like soba noodles. delicious. If you are wondering, yes they serve brown rice! If you like spicy, the spicy salmon is delicious. I usually get the scallop and albacore too. They have many different sauce combinations you can choose from, and dry toppings as well... Super delicious guilt free food! I can eat here 2-3 times a week without getting sick of it! read more

I only tried Poke Bar in Richmond because I was craving a poke bowl and there weren't any other options near by. It satisfied the craving but it wasn't a great poke bowl. The sauce was bland and there wasn't enough of it to mix with the rice. I felt like they wasted a perfectly good paper bowl while making it too. They put your base (i.e. rice, salad, etc.) into a paper bowl, and then put the fish and veggies in a separate paper bowl to mix together with the sauce. When they finish mixing, they transfer the fish to the bowl with the rice and just throws away the paper bowl used for mixing. I'm sure the bowls are recyclable or compostable, but still seems like a bit of a waste to me. read more

New poke bowl place in Richmond, located inside the Central @ Garden City Plaza (same plaza as Walmart). Seating area consists of ~10-15 seating. You can choose from signature bowls or you can build your own. I ordered the Sweet Chili bowl and switched to kale noodles (+$1.50) - a small bowl comes to around $15. It is slightly pricey for the size but the amount of tuna given was pretty worth. Tuna was fresh, toppings were good, and sauce was flavourful. Would recommend coming here if you're ever craving for a poke bowl in Richmond. read more

I love Poke bar. However recently I've noticed that the restock in protein have been running out each time I go, so I have no choice but to choose from the remaining, which is quite disappointing. Weekends are always fairly busy so a suggestion is to have 3 people on deck: starter, mixer and cashier. If the kitchen staff can keep an eye out on the proteins that need to restock you'll have continuous flow with no interruptions. A weird concept is you can choose up to 7/9 add ons, but unlimited on the sides and toppings. Overall still my go to for Poke places as the amount you get is still fairly reasonable. Hope there'll be some improvement later. read more

I was craving poke that day and there were honestly not too many options in that area. The poke bowl here is pretty average. The rice I got was way too warm and soft...the texture and temperature were just off for poke. The toppings were pretty good though, so as the protein. I think it's kinda pricey for the portion. If you're hungry, I don't think it's gonna fill you up. I feel like there are definitely better poke places out there in Vancouver. With that being said, if I am in the area and I am craving poke again, I might give it another try. read more

We ordered the Aloha Ramen Tonkotsu and it came in an unusual plastic container that was supposed to heat up when you pour water into a receptacle to the side which activates the heating process. I thought this was all some novel gimmick and nothing more but after waiting for the heating process to complete, some 6-7mins, tasted the ramen, I was pleasantly surprised. The ramen is definitely good and this wouldn't be the last time I visit to try their other selections. I'm already thinking of how the order makes for perfect take out. If your thinking of ordering take out ramen during these COVID lockdown days, I definitely recommend Poke Bar's ramen. read more
