Cascade Poke Bowl with no Crab Salad
    Kira J.

I was quite shocked with my order. I have had Poke bowls delivered many times from various places around Vancouver and this one was extremely disappointing. I ordered a Cascade Poke Bowl with no crab salad and replaced the rice with spring Mix. The portion is what I would considered a side dish to a meal or a snack bowl. Salmon looked like maybe two spoonfuls with onions in it. The fish was mediocre and did not taste as good as some of the other places in town that offer similar options at the same price range. For $15 before tax price, what was given was quite dissatisfying. I contacted the location to check if maybe they were low on supplies. Person that responded my call tried to explain that the portion looked small because of the spring mix being pressed down by the weight of the salmon. Apparently I am not the first one to say something and they are not willing to come up with a solution, so i would discourage anyone from ordering food here for now. I ended up ordering something else from another place as this was really not even a little bit filling.

We came in to grab a poke bowl to-go I had a voucher from Eventbrite: snack size poke bowl with drink for $8.00 I got the Smoke bowl. This bowl has japalenos and Thai chilles for those who like a good kick. The burnt miso was lost in here though They mix the sauces to order and the tuna tastes fresh. The bowl still tasted fresh after a 20min car ride The snack size was perfect for lunch so I guess a regular order will be good for dinner The lemon and ginger mint tea tasted pretty good The staff member didn't seem to be paying attention during our time there. The restaurant was empty and he got our base order wrong, but he was happy to make it right

Poke is for sure something I never get tired of eating! I love the variety and that's exactly what westcoast poke offers! My favorite protein to pick here is the salmon and prawns! The prawns were not the tiny little shrimp but actually nice chopped pieces of fresh plump prawns! Service is quick and friendly as usual. They currently do not offer dine in but poke are great for take out anyways to dine at a nice park, beach or comfort of your car these days!

An improvement from last time for sure. Good quality poke place but it's quite pricey. $22 for a 'large' that was more like a small sized bowl is a bit of a stretch. It was basically the size of my hand. The rice is not sushi rice unlike other places but regular rice. If it is that expensive I would expect sushi rice. Decent amount of toppings but not enough sauce so it got pretty dry after a few bites. I like how they have pea shoots as an option which is super rare at poke places. The chicken was tender and the salmon was good quality (I added $2 for sockeye). I ordered miso ginger soy sauce and gochujang aioli but I seem to have got only the aioli, though that by itself was tasty. If you have the money to spend go ahead but I don't think this can be a regular for me. Still it was an enjoyable meal nonetheless.

    Our beautiful custom bowl. Yum!

We won an Instagram giveaway so we checked this place out. We haven't had poke in a while, so this was a nice meal! We tried a custom bowl (we asked a staff member what they would make for themself) and it was delicious. We got the Coast, but with aburi salmon. They have a plant-based tuna, so I'm excited to give that a try the next time we come back! The food is pretty standard poke (which is still a good thing) but the staff definitely elevate this spot!

    pretty cool wall, I'd say

Pleasant surprise considering my previous experience with poke in Vancouver (see my review of Poke Corner). Came with a friend for Friday lunch (just after 12) -- liked the storefront, the clean interior, the semi-busyness (with seats readily available but not eerily empty). Got a Regular with half brown rice half greens, albacore tuna, and pretty much all the sides & toppings that didn't cost extra. Was happy with the portions of things given (including the fish, believe it or not), and taste was pretty decent as well -- basically no complaints. Why I took off a star: - no wifi (although I didn't ask) - my friend had to circle around for 20min to find parking (to be expected of the area) - missing the cheapness of Californian poke! ($13.50 vs. 6-8 USD for similar portions... but it's an unfair comparison, I know)

I just checked in and eating this feature bowl. You should get here asap to taste this. Soooooo gooood!

So I have not gone to Westcoast Poke for a year and I had a chance to visit last week. But was quite sad to discover that their quality of food tanked quite a bit. The portion was a lot smaller and the "forbidden black" rice which I paid an extra for was pretty horrible. It was old, hard and tough to chew. I cook and eat forbidden black rice myself at home so I know what it tastes like when you cook it right. Disappointed and sad but I won't be back here again tho since the price is still the same or higher when the quality is way way lower now.

    Spicy garlic ahi negitoro

Seems like there is constantly new poke places opening up here so decided to give this spot a try... It got good reviews and near to where we were so why not. It had a steady stream of people coming in too. Besides a few set bowl combos and build your own bowl option, they have a fresh sheet that appears to rotate per day... From base to protein options... That was a unique touch. I was curious so had the spicy garlic ahi negitori and that was just ok and the ahi used for that was pretty stringy. It wasn't worth an extra $3. When building the bowl, I found it odd that the server seemed to not know what components went into the bowl and had to consistently ask his coworker or look at the wall to know .. Lol... So service ended up being pretty slow... And led to a line up in ordering behind us. And portion scoop sizes were pretty small as well so it ended up not being a very full bowl. It is a nice touch to have a free drink or soup with a yelp check in, but when we went they were out of horchata (kinda strange at a poke place?) and one of their soups... I got the boysenberry soursop drink - I thought he was giving me a taste but he ended up pouring me a whole cup... and it was not very good... but it was at least free. They also had four other sauces you could add if you wanted an extra kick. I liked the pineapple mango habanero one... The space is clean and had one long communal table to sit in. Servers were friendly for the most part but food wise, I felt it pretty mediocre.

I don't know entirely what this is, since I just asked for whatever.

I mean, maybe I'm just bad at reviews considering I read a bunch of mediocre ones; but the poké bowl was damn good! Fresh ingredients, yummy poké and fun little atmosphere in the heart of Cambie Village, right by where I work. The staff are enthusiastic and good at their job, especially what I assume would be the general manager who is quite friendly. Anime girl, out.

Another poké place opened up, this time outside downtown. It is nestled along other small shops along W. 8th so you may miss it. The ingredients are fresh and delicious. There are a lot of variety for mix and toppings. They have 3 options for protein: snack is 2 scoop, regular is 3 scoop and large is 5 scoop. I had the regular bowl. What I had: Brown rice as base Salmon & tuna as protein. Jalapeño, sweet onion, chilli flakes, cucumber kimchi, & red onion as mix. Seaweed salad, crab salad, mango, masago, radish and sesame seeds as toppings. They make some of their own sauces which are great too. There is one long table that can fit about 12 ppl. The place is bright and modern. For an extra cost, you can get ahi tuna, sockeye salmon and avocado. I'd definitely come back.

    My DIY bowl. Snack size.
    Salina S.

Loved it here! Snack size is 2 scoops of protein but with so many add ons available, it was super filling for $10.50. They don't try to skimp on the toppings and are very happy to keep giving you more! Feedback for the store: fix your menu so people can read it!! You need to add white paper behind it.

Have come to westcoast poke plenty of times for its poke. I can say that its poke is one of the best in Vancouver. As you can see at the picture below, you can get such a tremendous of poke for a small size. The sablefish is a limited time I suppose and its amazing you guys should get it! Totally recommended and I am going to keep getting it!

I came here to buy lunch waiting for 25 mins to place an order. There was a few servers. One was a cashier to collect money. One took orders starting with getting the fish and other ingredients. One picked up other ingredients and mixed them all up. A fourth one was helping out. It took a while that customers ordered the food one by one. It was extremely slow and not efficient at all. Probably the kitchen or food counter is smaller that all servers squeezed in together and got food for customers at the same time. It was tough for them as well. Anyhow, I was not enjoying the waiting part of this eating experience at all. Wasted 25 mins of my lunch hour.... not impressive... I ordered a regular poke with tuna (pacific on the menu). Regular portion had three scoops of meat or fish. It was good. I got to choose the base (e.g. salad, rice, brown rice and etc.). I ordered brown rice. The dish was supposed to have certain ingredients, but I forgot which ingredient they were running out. I had to ask for green seaweeds to replace them. So sad. It was the busy hours that the restaurant would not have enough ingredients on hand in order to prepare for the customers. Anyway, I mixed all the ingredients in the bowl before eating. I ate the whole bowl as I was very hungry after the long wait. I liked the dish because of the sauces. I had a better poke in downtown. Overall, the eating experience here was not great unless they have shorten the wait time, improved the customer service, ensured there would be enough ingredients to cover the busy hours or orders, and provided fresh fish to the public.

Large bowl (5 scoops of salmon). Looked more like 3 scoops in my opinion. Average portion size.

They actually torch the tuna when you order! The combination of pasta salad with rice was odd to me, I wish there was an option to use salad as the base instead of rice, but I really enjoyed this bowl. The pasta salad was great, as was the fish and the spicy mayo (it was actually pretty spicy). The pineapple was very obviously from a can and tasted a little weak; fresh would have been better but that's a small detail. I also got a butter mochi. These come packaged in a plastic bag and had a bit of that packaged baked good sheen to it (sorry if this is not a universal experience and no one knows what I'm talking about) but getting past that, I have yet to find a really good and FRESH butter mochi in Vancouver and this is probably the best one I've had. It was very gooey in the middle and just a little crisp outside. The shop has ample seating and had a nice atmosphere with lots of natural light from the big windows. Very clean. I'd come back.

Compared to the locations on W 8th and Hornby, this location is more optimized for takeout; the seating is just stools at counters along the walls and for me the counter was awkwardly high compared to the height of the stool. It was also a little loud. If you're just getting takeout it doesn't make a difference because the food is consistent between all locations, but I would recommend the other location downtown (or the W 8th location if that's in range) for a more comfortable dine-in experience. I tried the Diamond Head pokerrito and subbed out the spicy tuna for the vegan tuna. It's still not a vegan meal if you do this because there are other seafood ingredients in the wrap, but I wanted to try the vegan tuna. It was delicious but very messy because the pokérrito is essentially a giant sushi roll and not sealed at the ends. You kind of have to keep it wrapped in the paper while you eat it but there's no graceful way to eat the ends. I really enjoyed the flavours of this even if I had to get my hands dirty though. The vegan tuna is pretty good. The texture is close enough to real tuna that I wouldn't have noticed it was different if I didn't know. I also got a tiramisu. When I ordered, the person making my order informed me that it was still frozen but it was still good frozen, like ice cream. So I decided that I'd try it and it was pretty good as a frozen dessert except the large ladyfingers at the bottom were slower to soften and hard to scoop out. The coffee soaked into the ladyfingers was pretty strong and the bitterness was a nice contrast with the mascarpone cream. Their prices are very reasonable. The pokérrito and tiramisu came out to $19.90.

The tofu bowl that I ordered was fresh and tasty. I ordered with the kale noodle base, and they were really good (pretty stuck together at first, though), but I'm skeptical of the $2 upcharge.
