Build My Own Poke Bowl @stevespokebar @thecityoflougheed I signed up the app and ordered the poke bowl online with a 50% off welcome coupon. I got the poke bowl in 20 minutes. Love the Ala Moana Ahi Tuna! The Hawaiian Poke fulfilled my craving. Dropped by a while back. Covid has been making it so weird of a year for food. My Poke intake had definitely taken a hit. Luckily Steve's Poke Bar was on the scene to help me out. I dug the way you can assemble your bowl. I'll always be a fan of that option and appreciate when there's lots to decide. Was happy with the wide selection available. My only complaint is I wish I could have packed more food in. Taste was solid all around. I don't think it was my favourite Poke bowl ever but it was pretty simple and that has its own advantages. There were less fattening sauces here than I'm used to so that was a delight. It mostly boils down to me wanting more food. Had a great meal at Steve's Poke Bar. Would definitely stop by again if I'm in the area. Can't wait to try a different mix of toppings next time.

I did not think much of the poke till I tried it. There are just too many poke shops around and not all are nice. First off, I like how they keep it real with marinated proteins, just like how it is done in Hawaii. You can really taste the flavor infused into the fish. It still can be confusing in ordering since every shop is different. Here you can either customize your poke bowl or choose one of the fixed bowls. There is also a Hawaiian poke with 4 scoops of poke for $16. I think I will try that next time. I decided to do my own bowl. I had the large which came with 2 scoops of protein. I had the shoyu salmon and ala moana ahi (extra $1) -- they were so good. The staff was very patient in explaining the process and recommending the toppings and sauce to go with it. It was all very yummy and fresh. As what some yelpers commented, it is a bit pricey but I think it is ok for the quality you get. I wish there is a Steve's poke bar nearer me though.

Unfortunately will be changing my review for poke bar Having it the second time around I felt that this was probably the worst poke I've ever had. Decided to get a small which allowed for one scoop of protein. Opted for salad. The biggest complaint I have about this was eating it from the tiny container that it came with and how heavily salted the ponzu sauce is. I had a bit of trouble asking for a seperate little bowl so I could mix everything together. Instead the poke rep opted to give me a lid instead... This was 12 bucks and you get a very very tiny protein and super salty poke bowl. The first experience was good but I don't think I'll be coming back.

Our first experience with Steve's Poke Bar was with their location up at SFU. While we were quite impressed with their poke, we're hardly ever up in the SFU area. So I was quite pleased that they opened up a brand new spot in the new food court area of Lougheed Town Centre. While there are a ton of "poke" shops that have opened up around town over the last couple of years, I find that most of them are a far cry from the simple and classic poke that you get in Hawaii. In my opinion, toppings are great, but should take a back seat to the main attraction... the sashimi. Fortunately, Steve's is one of the places around town that seems to get that and tries to stick with the Hawaiian-style of poke while still offering customers the option of adding the toppings of their choice (after all, Vancouverites are quite fickle when it comes to food). It's been a while since I was last at Lougheed Town Centre and they're doing a lot of development in the area. I had trouble finding the food court at first because they shut down the old food court location so I had to walk around until I finally found it on the 2nd floor near The Bay. When I visited in early January, Steve's was one of the few food outlets open but that worked out for me perfectly. I ordered up their Spicy Scallop and Shoyu Ahi ($13.40) on a bed of quinoa and added edamame, wakame, corn, white onions, green onions, imitation crab, and fried garlic. It's actually a pretty good size bowl. Steve's Traditional Poke Bowl ($16) is one of their set bowls which keeps things simple... you get 2 scoops each of their signature Shoyu and Spicy Ahi on a bed of furikake seasoned rice. It's a good value for the amount of poke that you get and lets you enjoy the flavours of the pre-marinaded fish. On my next visit, I decided to try their daily special - Ala Moana Ahi (extra $1) and paired it with the Spicy Scallop on a bed of greens and added wakame, edamame, corn, imitation crab, green onions, white onions, and crispy garlic bits with shoyu and spicy mayo sauce. The Ala Moana Ahi has a bit of a spicy kick to it compared to their regular shoyou ahi. I actually quite enjoyed my poke with the salad option so I came back the following week and tried it again but picked the Spicy Salmon and Shoyu Ahi and added edamame, corn, pineapple, green onions, white onions, wakame, imitation crab, crispy garlic bits and spicy mayo sauce. After a few visits, I realized that two scoops of poke isn't enough for me so I started switching things up and ordering 3 scoops... Spicy Salmon, Spicy Scallop, Shoyu Ahi... first on salad and then on quinoia I would like to see a bit more rotation of special items... maybe see tako or some other type of fish. After recently coming back from our trip to Hawaii, the first thing I did was come back to Steve's because it's one of the closest things to Hawaiian poke that you can get here.

The sign of this poke bar was very inviting . They had lots of choices and they let me try a few samples of the protein section . I found the price to be a bit pricey, for over 10 dollars for a small size poke bowl they only include one protein . Taste was alright, it wasn't that fantastic . The veggies were fresh and were displayed well . Staff were nice and friendly .

Saw this place after walking through the food court. Your typical poke place you can build your own bowl or choose from their own selections. Poke is pretty fresh and tasty with a good selection to build. they even let you try the poke! Which is a first for me! Reasonable pricing at 12,50 for large bowl with 2 scoops of poke. A great place to get your poke fix! Super friendly staff

Way back…read morebefore COVID was in existence, my coworkers and I would grab poke pretty frequently from Steve's Poké Bar for lunch at Lougheed. We all loved having this as a lunch option because it's, well, relatively more nutritious and clean than say, burgers or fried Vietnamese spring rolls. So, my bro and I decided to give the SFU location a try and waiting in steady anticipation for our custom poke bowls. The food came relatively quickly and the portions are still quite generous but...the sauce department was lacking. We both felt like there wasn't enough flavour to the poke, and the plain white rice was starting to overtake the delicious toppings. It was a bit different from my past experiences with the Lougheed location. Anyways, still got my poke fix, though I may lean towards trying Pokey Okey more next time haha

I made my own bowl, which is always a lot of fun. First time I've had quinoa as a base, but let's give it a go! I think I went for most of the items, except for the ones where you had to pay extra. The tuna I got was fresh, as were the other ingredients. I went wild on adding sauces at the end. I designed a great concoction. I didn't get a seat at 3pm on a Thursday, so I had to walk back to campus to eat it. A quick thing I learned the hard way, if you want quinoa, use a spoon. Overall, friendliest staff I've met on campus, delicious choices, and quick service.

We took awhile to look so we were asked at once point if we were ready and we sis we needed a bit more time so the server was delightfully accommodating and said whenever we were ready to give a server a call. Later on when we were ready our order was taken by a male staff member. We ordered a decent amount. Miso cheese eggplant, chawan-mushi, fried fish collar served in some kind of broth, 8pc nigiri omakase, blue fin tuna&uni hand cone, another hand cone but I can't remember what was in it..wifey ordered it, vegetable tempura and a black truffle dynamite roll. The highlight for me was the black truffle dynamite roll, it's taste was perfect. The right amount of truffle used and not over powering like I've had at so many other venues. I was pleasantly surprised and delighted. It was smokey, earthy and tasted wonderful. The miso cheese eggplant was delicious, slightly salty from the miso and wonderfully roasted soft eggplant. The fish colar in broth was light and delicate, beautiful flavor and texture. Chawanmushi was soft and delicate, excellently flavored. The omakase which had fish from Japan was delicious, super fresh and masterfully prepared! The tempura came with a green tea seasalt which was different but very nice. For dessert we had the green tea tiramisu which was very tasty. The restaurant itself is small but cozy and wonderfully decorated. My wife and I had a wonderful meal and I would go back for special occasions.
