Last night we came by to order their 10 PC Frito fried chicken ($25.99), large fries ($4.89), gravy ($2.19) and donuts ($2.05) each.Their spicy chicken was mild in the spice department, very juicy and with the exception of their wings, each piece was enormous in size!! Between the 3 of us we ate only 6 pieces and took the remaining 4 pieces home. The fries were piping hot, crisp and fluffy inside, the gravy was very flavourful too. All round this trio was excellent in quality, quantity and value. The chicken here is only second to LA Chicken in Richmond. Verdict 5/5 Their have quite a huge menu of food items including pork & veggies spring rolls and bunble teas too. You can easily get a complete meal here for under $10 /person if you are judicious in your choices. They have racks of daily made donuts of all kinds including scones and a cake slices of sorts, prepared boxed variety of donut holes and donuts. The quality of their fried donuts are very light, pillowy and well filled. I find their cream filled donuts tend to taste like an Edible oil product than real whipped cream. But then what would you expect for a donut that costs $2.05 each? My favorite is their cinnamon crunch donut usually. Verdict on their donuts 4.5/5 since we have tried all their variations over the many years we have visited. The service was well organized at the front counter and we'll coordinated with the kitchen. This spot feels like the love child of Dunkin' Donuts and KFC - and honestly, it worked better than I'd expect. Been coming to Duffin's Donut since they were originally on Main St and 33rd. Luckily they moved to Knight and 41st which is still close enough. I came for the donuts, Vietnamese subs/tortas and the fried chicken. They do catering, we have been ordering their fried chicken with rice + donuts for our group of 100 people. We pick up as they don't deliver. Their fried chicken is Fritou and they originate from Quebec in the late 90's. Duffin's is the only place that served Fritou fried chicken and they are really good. I always order the 3 pieces (1 wing, 1 drum & 1 thigh with fries or rice) for $9.39. You can ask for a mix of spicy or original but think the spicy is better and not too hot. I usually can't finish and take the rest home. Open 24 hours and considered the best deal in town for the portion of food you get. The decor is not fancy more like a hole-in-the-wall but that is what I love about it! They are here to impress you with the food and not the decor. The colourful orange and green bench seatings were originally from their shop on Main and 33rd so I love seeing them as it's reminded me of their good old days when you see motorcycles mixed with Mercedes cars in their parking lot. read more

I've been coming here on and off since they first moved here from the main street location. I would normally give a higher rating but today they were being extra with no f's given frfr. I stop here on the way to work to grab a sandwich and a donut or two prices are exceptionally . The selection is way better than Tim Hortons by a mile. The sign on the door says open at 6 we'll they weren't opened at 5 after, now things happen on occasion I get it but the fact that there was a bunch of staff in there puttering around was a bit off putting. The nonchalant attitude of no f's given was also a bit of a turn off. Update. Nov/25 stopped in for a quick snack stop, just before the afternoon rush apparently. The service is circling the metaphorical toilet. The tables were absolutely disgusting I had to ask for a towel and cleaning products to wipe down a table so I could enjoy my lunch. Been many years since I was last in Duffins Donuts despite pretty much driving by it most days. It is located on the corner of 41st Ave and Knight Street. Very busy intersection and they have free parking which is a huge plus. The interior is very dated and happy they have booths as a seating option. I had tried their fried chicken previously and it was quite good. This time it was donut and tea time. I liked their selection of donuts and I opted for the maple glazed chocolate donut with nuts. The sandwiches are made to order on the grill and probably not favorite item. The tamales are my second favorite to take home and eat whenever you feel like. They have both beef and chicken. Funny enough the donuts are only a bit above average to me, but I still appreciate the different flavors. The place is a little dirty so it could use a good deep clean. Certified classic! This place has been here for decades and it's still pumping out all kinds of food at affordable prices and high quality! Everyone loves the donuts and the chicken of course -- donuts are probably the best of the no-frills type for the price in the city, and the chicken reminds me of the guilty pleasure gas station chicken, but of a quality that is a tier or two better (always get spicy!). My personal favorite however has to be the hot dogs. They have hiked a bit in price but they're huge, deliciously hot (toasted bun!), and come with all the classic toppings if you ask for it. The sandwiches are great too, I just don't think they're as "worth it" as the hot dog. This is my first time being back here since the whole covid situation and the hours being all different. But damn the fried chicken is just as delicious as i've always remembered. I tried the wing for the first time since i went with a 4 piece! Spicy is actually not even that spicy. So don't shy away for all you people who get intimidated by spice. I additionally tried their pork veggie spring roll for the first time ... i'm not sure if it's because of the time i went but the roll wasn't that crunchy. Texture wise i'd give it a 3/5 .. taste was probably a 2.5 .. I probably wouldn't get the spring roll again. Ambiance was lively and bumpin because it was a weekend and it's always busy from what i remembered. This place i forgot to mention only takes debit and cash. Also the parking lot is quite hectic so if you're not someone who is good with parking lots, maybe park down the street or something. Always drove by but never made it in until yesterday when we had a donut craving & were in the neighbourhood. They have a wide variety of donut flavours & they're cheap (under $2 each) but understandably quite small. Taste-wise, I'd say they're slightly above average. I was surprised I didn't yelp Duffin's Donut before. I used to live on Main Street growing up and before Timmy's, Duffin's is the place to get donuts. Yes their first location was on Main and 33rd. I remember my mom and I would walk over there. It would be a treat for my parents to take me to Duffin's. Back then their donuts were not cheap and they were so popular. Now when I look at their prices, their donuts are not that expensive. There would always be long line up outside at the old location. Unfortunately, more and more donut places opened up, Duffin's is no longer the same. I am not sure if my taste bud changed or their recipe changed or maybe fengshui, the donuts seem to taste a bit different than when I had it as a kid. I find their donuts not very fluffy. They are very generous in the fillings inside. Now Duffin's no longer just sells donut. They have hot food such as Chinese food and Fried chicken. I wasn't impressed with the fried chicken when I first tried it. The spring rolls were ok. My friend liked the Thai milk tea here. Then I decided to try the fried chicken again as other friends kept raving about it. This time the fried chicken was really good! I realized you need to get a fresh batch or at least warm fried chicken here. That makes a huge difference. Juicy meat and crispy skin. Delicious! I had a simple honey dip donut and it was not bad. A bit soft but not of the fluffy softness. At least it was not hard or dry. It is no longer 24 hours but it does close late at midnight on weekend (Friday and Saturday). This is a donut shop. Reading their history, the owners have ties to the Cambodian donut empire in LA. Having lived in LA several years myself, Im quite fond of those independent donut shops there. Most people I know preferred those donut shops over the big chains, and everyone had their favourite shop, almost always run by Cambodians. I also like to support small local businesses. So if you want donuts in Vancouver, yes, come here. They have a lot of selection, and I can vouch for them over the major chains. They arent gourmet donuts by any means, but will hit the spot if you want a regular donut and they are good. Ive tried a few of them already, most recently boston cream and apple fritter, both fine. But then theres everything else they sell... I tried a variety of things to see how well they do it. bacon cheeseburger- very dry patty, bread not toasted, not enough sauce, bacon was limp and chewy. Just a bad burger. Any fast food burger is better than this. avoid. Chicken torta - served warm, which is nice. but too much bread, not enough filling, and sauce is just some mayo. flavorless, and chicken is overcooked and dry. Fried chicken - to be fair, this is under the "Fritou" label, a chain from Quebec and not "Duffins" specifically. But its just bad fried chicken. Everything is overly dry. And I tried both dark and white meat. Spicy version has zero spice to it, just too salty. avoid. Gravy - tastes worse than typical powdered brown gravy which I dont understand how. Thai Tea - mediocre, at best. Horchata - this was atrocious. A far cry from real Mexican Horchata. Virtually no taste of rice, all you taste is sugar, bit of cinnamon, and massively watered down milk. avoid. Their food is a bit cheaper than most other places, but the quality is not there, or the taste. So overall value for your dollar is actually quite poor. They do have a little parking lot out front which is convenient. The store itself looks and feels very dirty on the inside. Overall, come here for donuts. avoid everything else. If this was a donut-only shop, i would give it 4 stars. If it did not serve donuts, this place is 1-star, at best 2 star. so overall, 3 stars. read more

It is essentially a greasy spoon, so if you set your expectations there, you will walk away happy. Food: 3-piece Spicy Fried Chicken with fries, one extra chicken thigh, and an apple Fritter. The Spicy Fried Chicken is not actually spicy at all. The meat is moist, well seasoned, and surprisingly not greasy. A good bite, especially at this price. Unfortunately, one of my thighs was poorly prepared/old. It was noticeably less crispy and the meat was a bit dry. The Apple Fritter was pretty unremarkable. It has a decent crispy bite and a good chew, but overall lacks flavor. The surprising winner were the fries. These are pretty close to my platonic ideal of the perfect fry: crisp light breading, hot and fluffy inside, perfect seasoning to flavor, but not overpower. I would come back here just to grab a big bag of fries for the road. Word of warning for minimal carry folk: they only accept Canadian Debit cards and Cash. This place is like Denny's used to be - a happening late night spot. At 10pm it is absolutely packed. I'm here for the donuts. They have a huge variety of food though - it looks like the fried chicken is quite popular. They do sandwiches and "Chinese food" too. The donuts are not bad. They seem to make new ones all the time. I like all the maple flavoured ones. There is one which has some strawberry flavoured topping and otherwise looks like a mix of a bear claw and old fashioned. That is my favorite. Passed by Duffin's multiples times. Finally was in the area and was close enough to give it try. Seems like good selection of subs, but decided for the chilly dog. Was a pretty good size dog and was messy to eat. Had an impressive array of donuts, got a 1/2 dozen pack to go. Mostly had cake donuts that I wasn't that dense as other cake donuts I had. Should be well know from other reviews it's cash or debit only. The seating seems limited as they had tables and chair stacked along the window. A local favourite, this hub is always packed so expect a 20 minute lineup. The food is fresh, so add another 15 min wait. Flavours are off-the-charts, and you can't find prices like these anywhere else ($6-8 most items!). Try the Machaca sandwich (slow roast beef, curried flavour) and add a fried egg inside. Don't forget the spicy fried chicken ($3), better than KFC. The fresh donuts really put Tim Horton's to shame, but try their carrot cake if you're opting for a moist, less sweet treat. Duffin's is one of those neighbourhood staples that represents a part of the city that will never change. The donuts are just as you'd expect - a cake with icing or filling that hits the craving for a real sweet treat. Not too pretentious and not to cheap or mass produced. After a late night of work, Duffin's is the perfect place to spend a 5 minute pause on life to grab a dozen of donuts to bring back along the drive over the Knight St bridge. The donuts are aesthetic BUT ALL TASTE THE SAME. Yes the dough is dry, yes there's not enough grease, and yes there could be more filling compared to what you'd expect out of a $5 fancy donut, but there's something very real about a casual donut that's from the single location. The life's work of Tony Chhuon and Paula Sim, Cambodian refugees much like the story of SoCal's "Doughnut King," it is once inside the Cash-only space that the hodgepodge unfolds, the fact that all the Pastries likely come a pre-mix not relevant to most but worth noting since Fritters lack Fruit and Maple Frosting has an artificial aftertaste. I've always wondered about this place, because the sign says "Duffin's Donuts", but the sub-headline says "Hot Torta Sub, Noodle Soup, Chinese Food"....wait what? So I finally went in on a whim one day, aaand have gone in 3 times this month with different friends! This place is a visit back in time (and a tour around the world). There are menus from different decades, in various parts of the eatery. It sells donuts, fried chicken, burgers, fries, spring rolls, Salvadoran pupusas, Mexican tortas and tamales, and Vietnamese banh-mis. The spicy fried chicken sits right beside the spring rolls, and it doesn't seem the slightest odd in this place. Aside from the retro vibes, the prices are retro too: $12 for 12 donuts. My main tip is, you have to order the right things here to appreciate this place. When you order donuts, order donuts, not apple fritters or anything that's not shaped like a donut. From my experience, it's a difference between "Below average apple fritter" vs. "the best Boston Cream donut I've ever had!" I still think their Boston Cream donut (with chocolate top, not any other top), is the best. Fluffy and soft, filled with a smooth custard, not too sweet. I've also tried their spicy chicken and fries. They didn't blow my mind but were pretty good. There seems to be so many regulars there, and always a line-up. I waited almost 20 mins because of ordering fries and the rest of my food was cold. The lady practically threw my bags of food at me and was hella rude.
