This place has been my favorite pizza place since 2006 . It still is . I love everything about this place .

My wife has been coming here since she was a child, and on a visit to my in-laws I finally got to try it. Pizza is delicious, so is the garlic and cheese bread, salad bar is what you expect at a small town pizza place. But the best thing on the menu, in my opinion, is the Chicken Parm Sandwich. I have dreams about that sandwich and every time I'm in town I have to have it. Join the rewards program if you live in the area, my in-laws have it and it's so worth it. read more

Place has gone downhill faster than the Jamaican bobsled teem in cool runnings. The new owner seems to be cutting corners faster than Ricky Bobby. Sandwich bread has changed. Pizza crust is different. Salad bar has gone to shit. This used to be a pretty iconic pizza joint In alaska, but word is spreading quickly. New owner is crushing this place. There is a reason that none of the old waitstaff works there anymore. This was one of our favorite places to eat for the last 20 years in eagle river, no longer on the list. 3 stars for good service. Not impressed with the pizza. I've been twice over the last year (pre and post covid). I ordered the Mediterranean pizza most recently and the crust was dry, uneven toppings and lacking flavor / freshness. It's worth driving into Anchorage for Moose's Tooth. read more

We used to go here regularly. They can get busy. We waited our turn at the ( wait to be seated sign ). It was a long wait one night. They were cleaning up a table after a long wait. A couple came in, walked by the line and say down. We were irritated . We said nothing to the couple. But the wait staff was sorry. They offered is a table in the back where they have parties. Dark and impersonal cold area. We left. We called later to politely complain. And they admitted that they should have made the rude couple wait their turn. But they didn't want to confront them. So. We : polite, nice, big tippers, get the shaft to accommodate aggression. We only order ahead for takeout now. Obviously our weekly large tips didn't mean anything go the young immature wait staff. I do like their pizza. It reminds me of that cheesy saucy stuff of the 70's But I can't walk in the door without feeling pissed to this day. ( it was really rude) read more

Been going to Pizza Man for years. First time I've Yelped it. Minimally, it was a weekly take out pie for Friday dinner. This place is the best. Unassuming exterior in an old school strip mall. Built even before Pete Zamarillo's blue roofed wonders. Pizza Man is the gold standard for good honest pizza. Great crust. The most recent visit did not disappoint. A selection of local brews on tap. Tried the pepperoni, sausage and jalepeno. Oh Boy, It's insanely great. Not just pizza. Great salads, including a salad bar. Other menu items are tasty too! Pretty good food! Only issue is that I've consistently been charged for extra items on my bill each time I've gone. I let it slide the first two times because it wasn't a large amount and the lady was nice. But it's literally been every time I've eaten there. I will also say (with no real proof) but I'm pretty sure they water down some of their draft beer.. I had the fish bowl thing of beer plus two more beers and literally didn't get a buzz... not trying to brag on being an alcoholic because I usually feel at least something after 2-3 beers but I had to keep ordering beer because it wasn't doing anything. My friends and I went there to eat after we were kayaking in mirror lake. The food was mid, but what was absolutely mind blowing was that our own waitress ACCUSED us of doing coke in the bathroom.... we were so shocked. The " manager Devin" didn't even apologize or do anything about it. I said I want to take my tip off because she didn't deserve it after that huge accusations and he said " nope you already signed it's already done" this place is very unprofessional and very offensive. IN restaurant is SUPERIOR -5 Stars, but delivery can be questionable...1 Star. On more than one occasion, my delivery pizza has been soggy as opposed to the same pizza in the restaurant which was stellar. read more

Update 11/5/2018 4 out of 5 stars. This place may be a bit old but, the workers in Pizza Man are very helpful, friendly, and the service here is pretty decent. It doesn't seem too busy here Also, our waitress is friendly as well, we ordered the drinks, and after we waited for lunch, we tried to know if they had non-breaded hot wings or not, but a few minutes later, they we temporarily sold out. So I decided to order a wheat-free thick crust pizza. Our pizza tastes DELICIOUS. I loved the thick crust pizza. They always serve good food and I'm really happy how they did it. But after we waited for our check, our waitress is a little bit late for us and we payed at the cashier instead, no big deal, overall nice lady, and I will definitely recommend to go here. I was actually disappointed by this place even though I kept my expectations relatively low. I mean with so many awards on their walls, you'd think they'd be nationally recognized or something. It's okay pizza. Nothing great, nothing terrible. Just okay. I got a veggie and the crust was kind of soggy under the toppings or something. I have been customer for 15yrs and for the most have always been happy with everything but last night 3/9/20 things went downhill fast I will never return again I was treated with such disrespect and rudeness from a waitress ever before as I was there yesturday when I asked to talk to manager they sent out the cook my whole meal was ruined I couldn't finish it asked for refund and they refused I also asked to not talk to cook but the manager again and he didnt come out this is unacceptable I needed to put this out there at least if anything these are my feelings and they cant shut down my words shame on her for treating me that way read more

I've lived in Eagle River many many years, and I've eaten at Pizza Man 100's of times. I have noticed that the customer service and quality of food at Pizza Man has gone down hill over the last 2 years. Their usual items on the menu seem to be lacking in the quality, speed and taste I grew up with, and their new weekly specials are usually a miss and very rarely a hit. Never go there during normal "dinner time", as you will wait 45 minutes to an hour for a table. Go early or very late if you want to walk in and not wait. However, if you are on a wait list, their wait time quotes are ALWAYS off. Sometimes they will tell you 20 minutes and it will be more like 45. Other times they will tell you the same 20 minutes and it will be a 5 minutes wait. I believe they just figure it's easier to lie to the customer and tell everyone 20 minutes because nobody will turn down a simple 20 minute wait. However, most nights it is an hour wait for a pizza once you get to your table. Heaven forbid if your table orders more than one pizza. Ironically I'm not a fan of the pizza at Pizza Man. I do however like most other items on the menu, and their salads are enormous and very filling. Whether you get your food in a timely matter is a hit or miss. But I can almost always count on having shitty service from most of the servers. There is one server "Melssia" who is EXTREMELY nice and she likes to talk to the regulars. However, a few times we have had an issue with an order or we got the wrong bill, and her reaction is more defensive than helpful. It is a polar opposite of her usual service and attitude. She is more than nice 90% of the time. But that 10% of the time that requires her to use her customer service problem solving skills...well, it's almost better to just say nothing. It's like she takes customer service issues personally. The usual problems we have experienced at an ever increasing rate at Pizza Man include but are not limited to incorrect order taking by the server, food not being served to desired temperature or cooked properly, inconsistent serving size (it's either way too much, or barely enough to feed a small child), inaccurate bill, longer than reasonable wait times, etc. Also, do not order for delivery unless you plan on a 2+ hour wait time. No joke, 2+ hours for a pizza for delivery, or 1+ hour for a dine in or take out pizza. Not something I would expect from a place called Pizza Man. In short, we have just stopped eating here. read more

I'm so sad that we're this disappointed. We ordered a sub, nachos, a burger, and ravioli as a group. The sub was good! The nachos were very dry and cold, and there was no produce on them. No lettuce or tomatoes or anything. Just chips, a very small amount of cheese, big chunks of dried out chicken, and a small amount of black olives. The ravioli was dry and cold. The burger had no lettuce or onion or tomato on it. We're all super hungry and trying to figure out what to eat for second dinner now. Really disappointed and feel like we wasted our time and money. Wow! Very disappointed. New ownership is really dropping the ball. Kinda sad. We've been eating here for 20+ years. Since the new owner took over it has been one bad experience after the next. I worked in the food industry for the first half of my adult career and always give the benefit of the doubt but this last experience was over the top. Been ordering from Pizza Man since 1984. Really good food. Best ranch ever and you know what I mean if you've had it. You can drink it. I recently experienced a misunderstanding with the business but it was swiftly sorted and taken care of. Although I was ticked off, I was given really good care and I have the warm fuzzies about it. That said, all the pizzas are delicious, the salad bar is so freaking good, mac appetizer is not to be missed, very rich. The lasagna is a signature dish and worth the calories. They have great lunch specials where entrees are smaller than dinner or you can do half sandwich and salad or soup so you don't get stuffed and have to go back to work. All their sandwiches are good hot or cold and the gyro is a favorite. They also offer a VEGAN crust so you can get your pizza fix if needed. Thanks for taking care of me Pizza Man. First dine in since shutdown. Ordered a Guinness, buffalo wings, and pizza. Enjoyed the Guinness and the wings came pretty fast, but disappointed due to the frozen texture of the wings! Later asked the manager if they use frozen wings and said yes. I left just because pizza was taking so long and bad frozen wings, granted that there is a long wait for to go orders I canceled my pizza. People should only write reviews if it's a disappointing experience and this is one of them. read more

Over all 1) excellent service 2) fantastic pizza 3) anti pasta was not great 4) chicken wings were over cooked and hard to eat 5) great craft beer selection Had a really pleasant experience here. Our waitress was so nice and helped me out when I clumsily spilt ranch on my jacket. She brought me some Lysol wipes to help prevent staining. The pizza is also really good. We got the Pop eye special and it was excellent. While the pizza was good, our wings were over cooked and hard to eat/pull the meat off and my Mediterranean anti pasta salad was mostly ham and literally 2 pieces of salami and a bunch of olives. Was expecting a little more for that one. We will definitely be back, but will probably stick to just pizza and beer! read more

Poor Service! Subpar sandwiches and mediocre pizza. First and last time to visit this restaurant. Placed a to go order, quoted 30-35 mins, had to ask where my food was 50 mins later. I gave them a benefit of time because there was a constant flow of customers in and out. Food was luke warm when handed to me. Had to warm it in my oven by the time I got home. I am so sad to see how this place has gone downhill since the new owner took over last summer. We have been going there for years and the food has been consistently good....until lately. Last night I ordered the 1 lb. of clams appetizer (as I have for many years) and there were only 10 tiny clams. ONLY TEN! In the past they have always completely covered the entire low bowl. This was hardly more than a handful and definitely not a whole pound as listed on their on-line menu. If they were short on clams they should tell me and then charge me less, right? So disappointed. Amazeballs pizza! I am not a big pizza person, however if you have a chance to check this place out do it! Pizza is cooked to perfection. There was 3 of us and we ordered a medium size pizza and that was plenty! The pieces are huge and with 2 guys and a chick (lol) we had left overs. We ordered the cheese bread and that was pretty fantastic. Normally you get cheese bread and its super greasy and heavy, that was not the case. Not greasy or heavy at all. Was awesome. We order a full size and there was nothing left...oink. The decor was interesting to say the least. I didn't get it at all. The waitresses and staff wore tied dyed shirts, played Bob Marley music (which I LOVED) in the background, and had cheap pictures of 80's influence like pictures of Venice, Italy and such. Made the place look super cheap. I wasn't impressed with all the cob webs hanging in the corners and ceilings, kind of gross. Floors were super dirty, but the tables were clean!!!! sooooooooo I guess that is all that matters! Waitress was super nice and friendly. Usually have a good time here but was disappointed tonight. We had a really large party tonight and our pizza was forgot by the kitchen. When we reminded the waitress she got on it but came back when everyone was done eating and told us it was going to be done soon it was missed. Brought the bill 20 minutes later with the pizza still on there when we were getting ready to leave and the pizza was still not done. I asked her to take it off because we wanted to eat an hour ago. She was not happy but obliged. There was no real apology just "sorry bout that" nor did we get the pizza or anything to compensate the wasted time. Leaving hungry and irritated. read more

I wish I had better things to say, since the options for food in Eagle River are limited. I do appreciate the muscle menu, and the salad bar is OK. The pizza is nothing special, yet expensive, and you will always wait a long time for it, whether you dine in or carry out. Always double check your bill, it seems difficult for them to get it right. We do get take out here often bc it's easier than driving to Mooses Tooth, but last time we decided to branch out and try an order of their "bruschetta." It was an insult to Italian cuisine. Tomatoes on top of soggy bread, with melted cheese shreds. And their marinara has carrots in it. What?? Just go to Picolinos or drive to Anchorage for a higher quality experience. read more

To be honest I don't get the hype! First impressions weren't great and smelled odd. We ordered the salad bar and pizza, the salad bar was your average salad bar, the ranch was awesome and we waited and waited for the pizza. I'm pissed, ordered at 5:15pm, was told it's a 45 min wait, arrived at 5:55 to pick up. Paid and several people were there to pick up as well. I got my salad and pasta and was waiting with my toddler. I was told by the hostess that it was right there in line to be cut and boxed next. 10 minutes later still no pizza, finally I asked about it and I'm told it disappeared and they don't know what happened so they made a new one. I didn't get my pizza until 6:35, while trying to entertain my two year old and my husband was home with my new born. I ordered ahead and figured this would be simple. It was nothing but a mess. So here's the thing....this place, by far, has the best ranch dressing I have ever had. The pizza, in the restaurant, has always been good. No issues with the food or pizza. Beer and bacon dip is disgusting so you've been warned. However, I will say that we have had inconsistent service. Sometimes the servers are on top of things and pleasant. This last weekend our server was clipped, impatient and cranky. I get people have bad days and brings things to work, and I sympathize, but customer service means that you put those things on the back burner. This place has been around for years and I've always loved it, only once was our pizza a little over done, otherwise this place is great. When ordering over the phone, we always order the same things, and some how the totals are always drastically different. Once it was 30 something dollars and another time it was 50 something. I think they are always get new phone girls/employee's who either don't know math or prices, or know what they are doing? IDK. Update. I was persuaded to try it again, and it was a dine-in meal. I had a poor experience with their delivery pizza, but the dine- in was good. Good service and food although we went with some pasta dishes instead of pizza. Pretty good food and the service was good. I would still expect better pizza from a business named Pizza Man. read more
