Came here around 9 last night. I love that they have their own parking lot, the architecture is nice. One of the male workers greeted us as he passed by which was cool. The place is clean. However, their stools and some of their chairs were already up. At first we thought maybe they changed their close times. The lady that helped us didn't seem warm. She looked annoyed. No real engagement whatsoever. It's as if we were wasting her time when she was really being paid to work and since she's in the service industry, should have ask if we had any questions or talked about dishes we liked. She seemed to smile after the transaction was done. While we were waiting for our food, we couldn't help but plug our ears because she was preclosing and the sound of heavy wooden chairs being stacked was insane. What the hell were we to do? Ask them to stop preclosing?! So we endured it. The African American male that initially greeted us when we walked in also greeted us at the table and was nice and genuine. He also checked on us and took our plates away. That was pretty redeeming. If you are actually closed at 10, or want to rationalize that it's not that busy on a weekday and want to cut down labor, at least have the decency to be ninja and not make so much noise stacking chairs or seem annoyed that there are customers still wanting to come in. Maybe making the preclosing so obvious scares customers away, or at least when taking the transactions, kindly suggest that the booths are the best place to sit because some sections are closed? I ordered a Vegan Pizza to go and it took around 20 minutes to come out. After waiting a long time, I finally got my pizza to find out that they forgot some of the toppings I paid extra for. This was after I left so I had to drive back to tell them they forgot the topping, in which they proceeded to give me cold toppings that they were expecting me to put on myself. We tried this place a number of years ago and it was mediocre, and we just tried it again and it was mediocre once more. Pizza by edible amount is about a third huge crust, and the true amount of interior edible pizza is not big enough or filling enough for 2 people. Ordered and paid for ice cream online but then was informed when we got there that they hadn't had it for awhile. So had to substitute a semi-frozen brownie which turned out to have some peanut butter smeared on the top of it (yuck). Next was the chocolate chip cookie which was too sweet and uninspired. Pizza's cooked in an oven like this the temp gets to about 800 F Degrees so once the pizza is in there it is done in about 3 minutes. Baking at such a hot oven gives the crust a nice crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside crust. I usually get a pepperoni and sausage pizza. They have really tasty sausage. Pepperoni is good too. Sauce is tasty and cheese. Staff is professional and friendly. Restaurant is nice and spacious. I recommend this if you like pizza. read more

The crust is medium thickness with a perfect chew, and I love the oven charred edges that have extra crunch. I love the salads which are heaping and served with home-made dressing. And their spaghetti bolognese is some of the best I've ever had. The have a great selection of beers, and for those days where sobriety takes precedence, their fresh squeezed lemonade is perfectly tart and refreshing. My review is based solely on the cauliflower, broccolini and customer service. Highly recommend both the cauliflower and broccolini. The flavors are amazing. I would give it 5 stars for those two items. Customer service here is mediocre. We asked for water with out meal and it took forever for them to bring over two cups and a glass bottle of water. The place was not busy when we went for lunch so I am not sure why service is slow. The place is still new and the decor is simple but nice. A nice place to hang out with friends. I opted for a sangria but they have several decent selections on draft that I'll definitely give a go another time. My boyfriend had the Greens, Egg and Ham (braised broccolini, farm eggs (plural, no single egg here) 4 cheese, garlic oil, parm and La Quercia prosciutto). He was pretty excited about trying this but when I tasted it I must admit I liked my selection more. Not sure how I'll feel about trying something new when their Fall specials end and I can't get my hands on the brussel sprouts pie but I'll be willing to try something else if I have to. Really, they should move this selection to the all the time menu, it's fantastic! Pasadena now seems like the pizza capital of the CA with a different pizza joint popping up on every corner but this one definitely falls near the top of my list for this area. Like so many competitors, there is a build-your-own pizza option & a few popular options that you can order by name. However, unlike Blaze or PizzaRev, if you build your own pizza Pitfire charges per topping. I got a small size house salad with parmesan cheese shavings & balsamic dressing, which was great. I didn't have to wait too long for my pizza, which I'd give a B-. Good crust, but the sauce is kind of sweet. My server did check on me & refilled my iced tea. The space is really interesting with lots of natural light & a mix of booths, tables, stools & bar seating. While the food is OK, what almost dragged this review in the 2-star category was the price. One pizza, one house salad & iced tea came to a $21 lunch. I don't mind spending $21 on lunch, but that means I could go to Houstons, Porto Alegre, Smitty's or any number of fancy places. For comparison, the sausage pizza that I got at Pitfire was $12, whereas the build your own pizza at Blaze with toppings is about $7. read more

Definitely a great place to stop in for your carbs-fix with plenty of pizza and pasta. I really like the industrial feel of the place. I'm probably biased as a structural engineer but I like all the exposed concrete and metal decor. I recommend sitting outside when it's nice out even if it gets pretty loud with the street traffic. Props to the super friendly staff as well! Chicken and Mushroom Cavatappi - I wasn't the biggest fan of this dish. The chicken and mushrooms were good along with the arugula but I wasn't 100% digging the cream sauce. Overall a good dish that I may pass on for my next visit but still solid. Order at the counter, get a number and find your table. There is seating outside and pocket doors that will open up once the weather gets warmer. I get it now! Even though it's named, Pitfire Artisan Pizza, I much prefer to think of PItfire as my neighborhood Italian spot. Rather than ordering all pizzas, our favorite meal combines one of their pastas, one pizza, one vegetable dish, and it's the perfect amount of food for us. We've enjoyed all the pastas we've tried. Our favorite thus far has been the Chicken and Mushroom Cavatappi has tender chunks of chicken, wild mushrooms, a handful of slightly bitter arugula mixed into garlic cream sauce dressed cavatappi. Also good was the Farfalle with sausage and greens with a really fennelly pork sausage, sweet caramelized onions, garlic, cream and bowtie pasta. We tend to avoid red meat so the Spaghetti and Chicken Meatballs is a plus, with their big handformed meatballs that are solid. For pizzas, we still tend to favor the Sausage Party (a meatlover's type concoction with crispy bacon and salumi, so good). We lean towards their fire roasted asparagus, that comes with crispy roasted tips and dressed with EVOO and lemon zest. With a couple of glasses of their lemonades (free refills!!), it's a good meal. We've really been liking it as a kid-friendly dining spot. They have both high chairs and booster seats. Every time we've gone, there have been plenty of other families which makes the kid on kid distraction factor high. Also, the space has a lot of visual stimuli (overhead lights, hanging mobiles, clay dough for giveaways). In fact, the server told me that he would need to eat a pizza AND a pasta to be full. - unlike a "traditional" pizza, there isn't a layer of cheese and the crust was mega thin. The toppings were scarcely spread out, so most bites were just thin crust and tomato sauce - very unsatisfying! Overall, it was a decent experience. They did not disappoint. We will try their more interesting combinations at future visits. For our children, we ordered the Mac & Cheese (holy yumminess!) and the Grilled Chicken Panini (mmmmmm). Naturally, I taste tested both and I would order them again in a heart beat. They also have a bar and loud music playing. Plenty of seating indoors and out. Came to visit for lunch yesterday and the food was pretty good. Stumbled upon it while driving along arroyo parkway and my friend and I decided to give it a try. It was perfectly balanced where you can taste the different layers. The bread that came with it was also really good. The pie, on the other hand, came just a bit too sweet for me. When the pizza first arrived, I kept asking my friend where the caramelized onions were because there was barely any on the first slice, but I ate the second and there was plenty. I don't think the onions were spread very evenly. I also got to try my friend's Mac and cheese and it was really good. I would get that the next time I go. Went there for the first time tonight for my moms bday. Pizza was highly recommended (Pasadena location), and although we could tell it is a very casual atmosphere, we were going for the food. It's first come first serve type of seating, and we were six, so we had a bit of a hard time. They have long communal tables and some parties that were smaller seemed to be taking that up, but that was not the biggest issue. The pizza was good, not great. I ordered the burrata which I was excited for but it was a disappointment. Too much sauce, and the burrata could barely be seen/tasted under a mountain of greens drenched in oil/vinegar. I also tasted a seasonal slice with squash and chorizo and that was interesting . Honestly the best thing was the appetizer which was a ricotta spread on some fresh bread. Unfortunately the DJ on Friday nights and 75/25 percent ratio of screaming kids to adults just was not what we were looking for on this evening.
