We dined here last night and it was great! We were actually able to get a 7pm reservation online around 6pm, surprisingly. Piazza D'Angelo is a white tablecloth yet casual Italian spot nestled in downtown Mill Valley. There are many options for restaurants in this adorable downtown area but we chose this place and it did not disappoint! We were offered outdoor & indoor dining. We chose outdoor as we are finally in a town where it's lovely to dine outdoors! It was in the low 60's, chilly but warm enough with heat lamps and sweater! The outdoor space in the back is surrounded by a small garden, plants, and string lights. So adorable. Our server was incredibly attentive and we started out with waters. I then opted for a Washington Cabernet, which was delicious. It would have however, been nice to see more California options on the menu! Despite the limited wine selection in general, what I chose was truly great. I plan to buy a bottle. On to the food! We are offered bread, which was so delicious! Definitely worth it, but they do charge you for it and you're not aware of that until the bill comes. Totally fine as it was worth it, but I suggest the server telling customers that it's not complimentary. We started with the Caesar Salad to share which was yummy. Our entrees did come out at the same time though, oddly. As for entrees I went with the Conchiglie alla Contadina. This dish was wonderful! It included house made pasta with sautéed chicken, broccoli, sun-dried tomatoes, chili flakes, and pecorino cheese. I almost ate the whole thing but yay, leftovers! My partner opted for a dish that was the epitome of comfort food and flavor! Pollo Novello, Half roasted chicken, sauteed spinach, and creamy mashed potatoes (the menu states different sides online). This dish so was flavorful. Although there are a few things I noticed above that I would change, I would definitely dine here again. The food and atmosphere was amazing! Just had a group dinner for 43 people in the back room. Food was served family style. We had Caesar salad, fried calamari, lasagna, petrale sole and steak. On a scale of 1(low)-10(high) everyone thought the food was a 10. The topper was the service was also a 10. Highly recommend for large groups. read more

They charged $20 for a 2oz grilled salmon as an add on! The entree was much less than the add on.... Does that make sense? This is not a $$ place, instead $$$$ that doesn't match the service. My daughter reserved Piazza D'Angelo in downtown Mill Valley for a pre-wedding party for 40 people after the rehearsal. There is a private patio area that can accommodate our large group. We had a very nice evening here. The staff is lovely and the food is delicious. We started with a pizza with thinly sliced prosciutto, which was light and tasty. Next was the gnocchi Alfredo which was heavenly. The gnocchi were pillows and the sauce was light and tasty as well. Finished off with the spinach Fettuccini Fungi Verde with the thinnest sliced asparagus, roasted cherry tomatoes and mushrooms in a delicate wine sauce. This dish was hearty and healthy, and more importantly it was delicious. The wait staff was attentive and playful, we lacked for nothing. Although services was excellent, I had a problem with the food. I specifically asked about ingredients (often there are "hidden" ingredients in foods that aren't listed on the menu, and I have a lot of allergies/dietary restrictions). I specifically asked if there were bell peppers in any of the foods in my dish and was told definitely no. I also was adamant about NO alcohol. Unfortunately bell peppers were in one of the items in the dish, and I couldn't detect them at the time (often there are minimal amounts and the taste can be masked by other ingredients). I am now suffering the consequences of having consumed a food to which I am allergic. Although not life threatening, the bell peppers wreak havoc on my GI system and I have been advised by my physician to never eat them. I definitely asked, the server assured me there were none. My body says otherwise. Other than that, they did respect my request for no alcohol in the food ) and again, service was excellent. When a guest dining at a restaurant says in no uncertain terms they cannot eat a particular food/consume a specific ingredient I believe it is the responsibility of the server and the kitchen staff to be honest about what is in the food and to honor those dietary needs. Now when I go there again I will have to just order very plainly prepared food or side orders and only after insisting that they thoroughly check to be sure of all the ingredients. I'd been there four times before. But yesterday, 10/1/25 for lunch has me not wanting to return. There were only about 10 patrons in the entire place. The service was painfully slow. Water was never refilled. My meal was awful. I ordered a spinach mushroom pasta and a Ceasar salad. The Ceasar salad was the worst Ive ever had - tasteless. Said it was house made. No flavor. Even the croutons were bad. I've had their mushroom pasta before and it was good. This had tons of cut asparagus in it and sun dried tomatoes. Was supposed to be in a cream sauce. The asparagus (and I love asparagus) tasted like it should have been thrown out and there was so much of it in the pasta cut in little pieces that it soured the taste, Also, sun dried tomatoes ruined the taste. I left half of it. The waiter stoodwa talking with the host on a side of the room, ignoring us. We waited for our plates to be cleared, and for our two courses to be brought. We were never asked how our meal was and waited for the bill. This was my friends birthday - at least he thought his dishes were ok. They had a big dinner planned for today - perhaps they had lesser cooks in the kitchen and a light staff. A negative, not a happy experience. read more

Such a warm and welcoming place. We've been going there for years- no reason other than we love the food and service. Recently we have needed some accommodation for a wheelchair and it was amazing how easy this was to navigate. We're new to the accessible need so we're not expecting much but this was amazing and more than once. It only shows how much they care for their guests. I was here for a private event on their patio. The patio has a rain shield above it so on the sunny day I was there it was very warm on the patio (even though it was not that hot.) The patio needed a fan to help circulate the air. The plants and patio were very cute though and made a nice backdrop for photos, so it worked well for the 18 person shower I attended. The service felt a little slow, but the staff was very polite. The food was good- I tried the pizza and the chicken quarter. I've been coming here for 28 years and the food has always been good. Tonight, we ordered garlic bread. The server arrived with 1(one) piece of garlic bread. That 1 piece of garlic bread was $13! I hadn't been here in 25 years and was excited to come enjoy it again (I live in San Diego). I came in last night solo and sat at the bar area. I was greeted by the host, who turns out to be the son of the owner, and also the owner as well. Both very charming. I received very friendly service immediately and the ambiance and energy was warm and inviting. I started with the Fritto Misto which was delicious. I then took probably an hour to decide what I wanted for dinner, and chose a prosciutto pizza, knowing I wouldn't be able to finish it all since they are a generous size. It was delectable as well. I was probably there for 3 hours and met such nice people who came on their own also. Most of them locals and so sweet to talk to. I was fortunate to talk with the owner and his son again before I left, such a nice family. I absolutely will come back again when I'm visiting in town. The ambiance is always nice, which is why we like it. We had a great table last night and enjoyed it. What I will add to this review is, what I would improve. I ordered a Caesar salad with the dressing on the side. What came out on the plate of only romaine, was HUGE chunks of lettuce; way too big to fit in your mouth. I tried to cut the lettuce, but all I had was a butter knife, so I proceeded to tear it with my hands. The two little thinly sliced pieces of cheese is ridiculous. I mean why even put cheese on there if that's all you can do? Grated cheese would be the best way to do it and it's how most caeser salads are made. Also, I ordered garlic bread and for 8 dollars, you get ONE slice of bread. Why not serve bread in a basket (that most would be happy to pay for) that you can dip in olive oil, etc. I've always enjoyed going there but I don't remember the salad ever being served that way. We saw Piazza D'Angelo on Check Please. We love watching the show and checking out the restaurants. I love Mill Valley. It's a sweet little village nestled amongst redwood trees. Piazza D'Angelo is right in the square. There was a band playing and lots of kids having fun running around. We got a window seat. The staff was nice. Our waiter was very young and did a great job. The food is good and hearty. We had the fried shrimp, calamari and cauliflower. It was very nice. We spilt the arugula salad. Also good. I had the spinach fungi pasta. It was good but I wish it was a little creamer or more mushroomy, but it was good. Hubby got the seafood pasta and he loved it. My friends and I came here after hiking the Dipsea Trail. It was 15 miles back and forth so we were super hungry and craving carbs. We shared the margarita pizza with sausage and I ordered the fettuccine fungi verde. The sauce for my pasta was super flavorful and I loved the mixture of veggies (mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, asparagus). We came around 3pm and it wasn't that busy. So overall this was a very good restaurant with one negative issue. The food is spectacular. Loved the salads, main dishes, and desserts. Every dish is well done with great flavors. The wine list is good but doesn't stand out. But still better than many restaurants. Atmosphere is good. A little packed and loud but still overall a positive atmosphere. The main downside for me is the service and policy. They seem very rigid and unwilling to bend. For example, I would have ordered a much more expensive main dish on the menu if they let me swap sides. I don't like the side on their steak but the waiter was unwilling to swap broccolini for spinach. So I ended up ordering the less expensive main dish since it came with sides I like better. They blew a chance to get a higher bill by refusing to compromise. I probably would of rated them 5 stars if the service and policy was better. The food is that good. But lackluster service and inflexibility knocks this down a star. read more

Chocolate mousse is NOT the same as chocolate pudding. The watered down "signature cocktails" were an expensive waste. Just make a decent drink ! Negronis do not contain mezcal . One of my pet peeves at a restaurant is serving an item like bread, which has ALWAYS been complimentary here, and then adding a big price tag to the final bill without disclosing this. I have been coming to Mill Valley for years. I love the diversity and community. I hate to have to leave a review, but I had no choice. Called in for two plain cheese pizzas and unfortunately they only had Margherita, which I thought was fine and I could just ask for modification. I had asked for modifications initially to have it without basil, but was laughed at over the phone. When I tried to continue the order the line was silent on the other end. Once she finally did return, I then said several times at the end of the order to forget about the modifications as I felt shameful for asking for them. Once I completed my order, I showed up at the restaurant to pick it up, and was once again laughed at in person once it was realized the two pizzas was my order. When I got home modifications had been made to the pizza and the basil was removed, though I had requested several times to forget about the modifications over the phone. Though there are very minor differences between cheese and Margherita pizza, I have my preferences, and if I choose to order pizza at this specific establishment, I shouldn't have to feel shame for such a minor change. Since this establishment does not have regular cheese pizza, I should not be shamed for preferring some modifications (but as I was laughed at, I had tried canceling them). Lastly, it was clear that my request was so entertaining to the young lady taking my order, that my request to have no modifications was disregarded. I will not return to this establishment. Classic rustic Italian cuisine in the heart of downtown Mill Valley. Piazza D'Angelo has been a longtime venerable restaurant that both tourists and local residents will swear by and I would certainly agree that this is the place for a reasonably priced meal in the center of an area where "reasonably priced" can sound quite foreign. I came with friends on a Saturday evening when, as usual, they were really packed with diners, but we approached the hostess counter with no reservation and hoped for a lucky break and low and behold, we were walked past their bar area and right in the back corner, right by their open kitchen, where we were sat at a table for three, which represented a nice intimate area of the dining room. Before you even order, they give you a full basket of herb foccacia bread with a delicious pesto olive oil dipping sauce to soak it all up. I literally could have eaten an additional order of that just that and been satisfied. As you review the menu, you will realize that is smartly organized into four parts, the Anitipasti, Pizze, Patse, and Secondi. I've been before with many an option from the antipasta and pizza sections with solid results, but since it was dinnertime and there weren't too many proteins within their pasta menu, my attention was geared towards the Conchiglie Allla Contadina which was housemade shell pasta, sauteed chicken, broccoli, sun-dried tomato, chili flakes and pecorino cheese. They really had me at the sauteed chicken and chili flakes. The dish when presented looks like a brown dish of mush, but when I had my first bite everything was warm with eat bite and full of lots of flavor thanks to the abundance of fresh ingredients. Plus bonus points for being an affordable dish at 19 dollars. To wash down my meal, I ordered the Pomegranate Margarita under the Cocktails Della Casa menu, featuring generous portions of Hornitos Reposado Tequila, Pama liqueur, fresh lime and agave nectar. It was smooth with a little kick to it which provided a nice libation that balanced out a heavy meal. The ambiance, service, food and drinks all make Piazza D'Angelo a must visit for any non-local to try out in the heart of the older side of Mill Valley. For me, my bill was roughly 30 bucks plus tip which wasn't too bad and when dining with others in a not very affordable town. Would I return to Piazza D'Angelo? In a Mill Valley minute! read more
