Did a takeout order from Il Fornaio and the food is amazing. You get what you paid for. When I got my food, the hostess that helped me was nice and friendly, the hostess and the wait staff were dressed nice. The restaurant inside looked really nice when I walked in and picked my order. If you're looking for a good Italian spot in Corte Madera, I'll Fornaio is top notch. There are other locations and I've been to two, and I've had great experience at both( also the one in SF)

Stopped by for Nee Year Eve dinner. We were lucky to get a table, because the night it's booked. We started out with bread and butter. And a bottle of Chardonnay by II Fornaio. The Chardonnay is flavorful and crisps. We had fried calamari as appetizers, it was very delicious, the calamari is fresh. I had the parmesan chicken with spaghetti. The chicken was well seasoned, pairs well with the spaghetti. The seafood dish is delicious as well, all the ingredients are very fresh. The service is great, they are on top of everything. Our Server is excellent. The place is well decorated with Christmas/ New Year.

Fantastic happy hour between 3-6pm on weekdays offers a wide variety of $9 craft cocktails, including the margarita Italiano, incorporating mango and limoncello. Delicious and refreshing! Beers are $7 and wines are $8. The fried calamari was crisp and tasty and the pizza was huge and a great value. Service was prompt and welcoming and the decor is nice and muted Mediterranean style. We will definitely be back to try more menu items whenever we're in the area.

GF and I celebrated our birthdays and Valentine's Day together here. The roast chicken and branzino were fabulous. Red and gold beet salad with goat cheese was a winner too. Thank you to the staff for making it a memorable evening!

First time here! It was AMAZING!!! One of the best calamari's I've ever had! The seafood was so fresh and so flavorful. The gnocchi was like a cloud in your mouth! The red sauce was so delicious. The inside was so clean and nicely decorated. The waiter was very nice and super outgoing. He shared what he recommended and cracked some jokes that were great! Can't wait to go back.

Have not been here in several years and had a very nice time. Service was great, attentive and quick. Food was delicious, started with hamachi, had the bolognese and Sole fillet for dinner. They came by with some fresh focaccia bread, really good. It was quiet as the New Year festivities were quieting down which made for an enjoyable meal

I was really looking forward to this meal, but the pasta I received was bland, dry, and clearly thrown together with no care. There was zero flavor, and it looked nothing like the photos of the same dish I've seen online. It felt like they just don't care about takeout customers at all. For the price, I expected a decent meal--not what is pictured below. I would not recommend ordering takeout from here. Save your money and your appetite. TAGLIATELLE BOLOGNESE

I am admittedly someone who doesn't into "chain" restaurants so much, but there are two or three that I will return to and enjoy from time to time, and Il Fornaio is one of them. This restaurant in Corte Madera is well kept, and beautiful from the entryway throughout. The layout of the restaurant is inviting, giving you a glimpse of the kitchen area to the right as well as a lovely bar area to the left. There is a covered patio area that is suitable for a larger group event. It's climate controlled - really converted to an indoor area at this point. The decor is dark wooden and warm. First, this Italian mainstay possesses something that is always a game changer for me: a wood fired oven. This makes the pizzas (and other menu items) taste just that much better. So, I am often ready for a pizza here. And it's not a pizza restaurant per se - not alone. I've enjoyed pasta, chicken and seafood dishes here as well over the years. One favorite is the Ravioli di Brasato -- beef short rib ravioli often served with root vegetables. A very autumn dish! This day I enjoyed a margarita pizza, with pepperoni added. The cheese might be abundant for a margherita pizza, but I'm not complaining! Crust baked to perfection. This restaurant also has a monthly special menu typically honoring a region of Italy. This time, I ordered the special champagne off that menu -- offered in a standard pour or extra 250ml pour. Don't miss the bread for the table. This bread is perfect for the olive oil and balsamic that is served and poured in front of you by the wait staff. Whether I am sitting in the bar solo, or out to dinner with friends or family, or even for a work meal, the staff is always quite attentive and accommodating. I have never been treated in anyway other than kind and friendly, very welcoming. Don't miss out on the rewards program, which gives you credits towards menu items and even a complimentary Tiramisu on your birthday! (It's excellent by the way!) Download their app. All in all, I'm never disappointed here. This chain restaurant does it well. The people and the food and the comfortable setting keep me coming back.

Beautiful establishment. The food was so amazing. I started with a glass of red wine along their fresh Italian bread and oil dip which is plenty enough for a family. For the main course I had the TAGLIATELLE BOLOGNESE. It was my first time having and now it's probably my favorite. I closed the deal with a desert called The Special. It's a creamy semisweet type of custard with pistachio and other yummy goodness. My favorite part was my server "Isabella" . So helpful from start to finish always checking on me and helping make those tough life decisions with my order lol. She was awesome, sweet, helpful, and polite. So glad I chose this place to eat at on my visit.

Our waiter was rude and didn't seem to know much about the menu or the dishes. The prices were extremely high, and for a party of five, our bill came to over $400--almost $500. To make matters worse, the food did not justify the price. The salmon was undercooked, the portions were incredibly small, and the overall quality was disappointing. We actually had to go somewhere else to eat afterward because we were still hungry. Overall, this was a terrible dining experience. We will never come back, and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Hopefully, none of us gets sick after eating there.

It's long, about a foot, and was steaming hot and crispy with great flavors. I like how it was garnished with fresh arugula. Maybe because we also shared a Bruschetta with our friends, but even two of us couldn't finish it. We also got to sample the pizza our friends ordered. Both were excellent. The only issue was the noise level. At 6pm on a Sunday, it started out energetic, but by the time we left 90 minutes later, my ears were ringing!

Unfortunately, this was one of the worst café experiences I've had. From the moment I arrived, the service felt off. I was greeted, but also noticeably stared at in a way that felt judgmental and unwelcoming--never a great first impression in a hospitality setting. Their Wi-Fi was down, and the area has very poor cell service, which essentially made it impossible to work. While outages happen, there was no acknowledgment or apology, and it's a major issue for a café that appears to position itself as a place to sit and work. Ordering was another problem. I asked for a matcha latte, and no follow-up questions were asked--no hot or iced, no milk preference. I had to track the barista down myself to clarify. The drink itself was honestly terrible: extremely bitter, grassy, and undrinkable. I left most of it untouched. At nearly $10, it was also the most expensive (and worst) matcha I've ever had. The biggest issue, however, was how payment was handled. Their POS system was down, and I was asked to pay in cash. I didn't have cash, which is normal in 2026. Instead of apologizing or offering a solution, I was bluntly told to "sit down" and wait--despite explaining that I had a scheduled meeting and needed to leave. At one point, I was told the only way I could leave was by handing over my credit card information to be written down and kept behind the counter. That is completely inappropriate and unsecured, and I refused. The situation became uncomfortable enough that other customers visibly noticed, and at least one couple left because of how rudely staff were speaking to guests. Eventually, I had to call a friend to bring cash just to resolve a $10 charge, which still took unnecessary time due to confusion between staff. I fully understand that small businesses have bad days. Systems go down. Things happen. But hospitality is about how you handle those moments. There was no apology, no accommodation, and no respect for customers' time or boundaries. I hate leaving negative reviews for local businesses, but I cannot recommend this place in good faith--especially when there are nearby cafés that offer good service, functional systems, Wi-Fi, and basic courtesy.

The strangest part was the seating. We were placed next to a service area hidden behind a curtain, except the curtain did nothing to block the noise. We could hear all the conversations going on behind it, and there seemed to be a lot of unnecessary drama happening back there. It gave the whole meal an oddly uncomfortable vibe. I found that response dismissive, unprofessional, and completely lacking in empathy. My family and I are Brown, and the way we were treated left me with serious concerns that we were not treated the same as other guests. The wait was 20-25 minutes to be seated outside. We provided our cell number to receive a text when our table was ready. Text received. Host was friendly and seated us promptly. There were two outdoor areas for Hog Island - a smaller, narrower seating area that held parties up to 4 and a larger tented, barn style area that accommodated parties exceeding 5. The table we were seated at was small, requiring us to rearrange our setting multiple times to accommodate dishes and drinks received. Even though the space was rather quaint, we avoided being bumped into. Conversations are far from private, we heard a lot. Our order of two drinks - a Manhattan ($17) and Spicy Pineapple margarita ($16) - along with a food order of a dozen half shell oysters ($48), four grilled oysters ($18), a fried fish sandwich ($24) and a rustic seafood stew ($36). Our drinks were perfectly made and perfect for a relaxing day. At $16 for a margarita in a martini glass was devastating to say the least. Highly cheap on the part of Hog Island. The same could be said for my brother's customized drink in a martini glass at $17. The oysters on a half shell were shared between two, enjoyed by both. The oysters were perfectly shucked - free of an unwanted crunch from shell pieces. They were fresh, large and delicious. The grilled oysters were prepared just right, not over grilled with a juicy finish. The chipotle sauce overpowered the oyster and the garlic oil was the ultimate compliment to enhance the natural flavor of the oyster. I am not a fan of cooked oysters, these were prepared to complement the oyster (minus our chipotle selection). There was also a miso butter option, my husband had visited previously and said it was too salty. My brother devoured his fish sandwich, said it was juicy, crunchy and well prepared. The bun was soft and slightly sweet complimenting his fish burger. Hod order came with a side of fries. My rustic seafood stew was slightly disappointing. The mussels, clams, shrimp and lingcod were prepared perfectly but there was not a lot to enjoy at $36. I did not expect a lot, just a little more than the portion received. I fished through the tomato base looking for missed seafood. With these bites there was a lot of crunching from shell bits. This part discouraged me from continuing to look for missed pieces of seafood. I am not a fan of crunchy soup that is not intended to be as such. Overall we had a beautiful experience. Our waiter was comical, the view was beautiful, the weather warm with kisses of breeze and the company shared with my brother couldn't have made it any more perfect. We would definitely return again. Apple Pay is accepted as the payment system is brought to the table. I'm sure other mobile forms of payment are accepted too. Ya know, the kind that snaps when you bite into 'em because of the quality casing. Delicious. The outdoor shopping center has high end retailers. The center can be seen off the Highway and easy enough to get to. I'm not a local and rarely shop here. Stang's is the only reason I make a stop. The stand is near Nordstroms. The dogs are $7/ combo $10.25. They offer 4 different kinds of sausage from $8.25/ combo $12.75. They even have a vegan sausage option. The dogs are stadium length. Combos include a bag of chips and a canned drink. I've had no issues with the staff, all great encounters. Stang's has a gated outdoor dining area. Since the stand is minimally staffed, they may not have the time to clean the dining area. Understandably so. Right next to Stang's patio, there are shopping center community tables. Those tables are maintained by the shopping center cleaning crew. Plus there are trash and recycling bins close by making it easier for folks to pick up after themselves.
