Tavern Cheeseburger - meat, cheese and bacon only
    Tina W.

Update - here for World Cup, the bar pretzel remains a solid choice, nice and hot and the beer cheese and mustard are tasty too. No more French Dip on the menu, but the pub burger (meat, cheese and bacon) my spouse found very good and the French fries even better. The fish and chips remains my favorite in the area. Service is attentive and staff is working very hard to keep drinks coming and the food out on time. The vibe here is exciting, fun and social, great to see the numbers and people having fun!

Great place! Highly recommend! We've been here once before and a few years ago and this place does not disappoint. The old fashion is 10/10. The fries, tacos, fish and chips are delicious!! The service is great and the atmosphere is 100!!

We stopped by this place on our way back from Muir Woods. It's next to a Holiday Inn. The environment was very inviting. They have a big bar area with lots of TVs so people can watch sports. They also have a separate lounge section and a recreational section with billiard and other games. We ordered the potato pancakes to share. It was tasty with the chive dip but I felt it wasn't worth $13. For entree I had the porchetta cubana. The roll was nicely toasted, the fries were amazing! But the porchetta itself was a miss. I thought the pork gaminess was a bit strong. Maybe a bit more time spent marinating would help. The habanero hot sauce that it came with also didn't do much for me as it felt very mild and watered down. Overall I thought this place was solid. Prices were a bit high for what you get. Also avoid the porchetta.

Tam Tavern feels very similar to the old Floodwater--same general vibe, just with a slightly more casual staff and a new menu. The location is great, but the parking situation really should be better. Just know: it's not cozy or intimate. It still has that "sports bar from the past" energy, with pool, air hockey, tons of TVs, and a patio with a beer-garden feel. It also still has that hotel-restaurant atmosphere, but not quite in the appealing way you'd hope. The food was solid overall. The fried chicken was much spicier and saltier than expected, the Niçoise salad was pretty good, and the French dip was hearty. They do have a strong beer selection. Dessert, however, was disappointing--only three frozen options, none of which were worth it. The banana split was overly sweet with artificial-tasting red sauce, the "tiramisu" felt like a frozen cup, and the ice cream was just... ice cream. There's potential here, but a few upgrades--parking, atmosphere, and the dessert menu--would go a long way.

My partner has been wanted to try this place for a while and we both absolutely love East Brothers beer. We typically go to Richmond. We decided a Warriors and Lakers game would be the best time to try it out. It was busy and the Saturday before SuperBowl, so we knew it would be busy. We immediately walked up and sat at the bar with open seating. However, quickly realized we would rather enjoy a table. I walked back to the host and asked to be put on a list for a table (there were 3-4 open). I knew they accepted reservations and we may not be sat immediately. However, we were completely forgot about. No text, no call. By half time, the place was pretty open and we were disappointed we hadn't been contacted. I didn't feel it was my job to double check if we had been forgotten. By the time we left, we still didn't receive and recognition from the hostess (2 people working the stand). I know we were forgotten because I watched her write down my name and phone number on a paper, and as a customer, it sucked. We wanted a table to order dinner and have more room, but we just ate at the bar. I will be honest, I wanted to leave at half after this, but my partner was hungry, and that is the only reason we stayed. The beer is always good. The food is okay (too pricey) in our opinion. The French dip lacked flavor, but the fries were amazing. My partner said the burger was ok (also lacked seasoning). We will probably be back for happy hour, and for the atmosphere, but other than that we may have gone in with higher expectations.

Steady service, definitely there for efficiency vs super hospitable. Not in a bad way at all. The food was good - I loved the French dip, but my date thought the smash burger was lacking in flavor. The oatmeal stout might be one of the best stouts I've ever had. I would make the drive (over an hour) just to enjoy it again.

I was craving a beet salad on the way home from Stinson and Floodwater came up with strong reviews. We stopped by with our pup and sat on the outside patio with an umbrella. Started off with the blonde ale and the what a melon cocktail. Our server was a bit rude to start as my husband asked his opinion between two beers and the guy just said "they're two completely different things".... It made it so awkward! We ordered the sliders, garlic fries, and a pizza in addition to the salad. The sliders were the best thing we ordered. The pizza was fine, the beet salad was fine, the fries were nice and crunchy and the ketchup was good- but the sliders were the most tasty. Overall I think the servers weird attitude at the start kind of set things off downhill pretty early on. I enjoyed the dining atmosphere otherwise and the other staff members were friendly.

What a welcome addition to Mill Valley! Sports bar with plenty of big screen tvs- check! Lively beer garden with occasional live music - check! Delicious beer + cocktails - check check! Game room with pool table, shuffleboard, fussball - check check check! And most importantly, delicious food and a fun vibe. Highly recommend: -- The Schnitzel (who else in Marin does authentic German schnitzel, red cabbage and spaetzle?). -- The Double Smashburger -- the Pizzas (if you're a carnivore, definitely order the Molinari Meats!). -- the Beer Battered Fish & Chips -- Bavarian Pretzel with stout beer cheese and mustard -- Saigon wings While all of the above may sound like something you wouldn't want to share with your cardiologist, they have lighter options as well. Their salads are surprisingly fresh, delicious and satisfying (I'm partial to the grilled chimichurri steak). And I'm a fan of their hummus plate with Z'aatar flatbread, and their potato pancakes. While I miss Floodwater's ruben sandwich, Tam Tavern's French Dip is a worthy substitute. The staff is friendly and efficient; the pricing is reasonable; and it's both family-friendly + dog-friendly. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but aside from that... this place is a winner! Looking forward to exploring more of their menu + Game Day fun.

Great service, the venue looks great. And the food was delicious. We had the garlic fries and pineapple pizza. The bartender was very good and made a perfect margarita. 5/5

Our insights: -Good servings and easy access if you are staying in HIEx Mill Valley. We went an all day excursion to explore the city and once we got back to the hotel, we were starving. Since we were tired, this restaurant is definitely on the right spot.

That said, the bartender wasn't too busy to serve the locals at the counter multiple times, chatting and laughing extensively with the regulars who were passing around homemade cupcakes or sharing plates of food they'd ordered from the Mexican restaurant next door. As a combined beer garden and pizza place, it features a huge outdoor area with plenty of spaced-out seating and a dedicated play area for kids, including foosball. The food is a major draw, with pies made by SF's own Pizza Hacker. It is easily some of the best pizza in the Bay Area; we tried several varieties, including the Margherita, Pepperoni, and the Ohio. They even offer a good quality gluten-free option, which was great for my buddy. Their drink menu is equally diverse, featuring an excellent selection of beer, wine, and mocktails, ensuring there is something for everyone. While the setting is excellent, the service can be a bit spotty. The restaurant gets extremely busy, and at times it feels like the staff is simply stretched thin. We found the table servers to be much better than the cashiers at the windows, who could be a bit unfriendly. One cashier even insisted he had confirmed our order correctly when I had to correct what was actually brought to us--definitely a case of poor active listening skills. They would have received 5 stars if it weren't for the cashiers taking orders. Overall, if you go in knowing it leans heavily toward a family-oriented crowd and can get very crowded, it's a wonderful place to enjoy great pizza and the outdoors. Just be patient with the parking, as it can be a bit tricky to find a spot.

While the chips & dip were good, they're something you can find elsewhere, so not necessarily a standout. Everything else, though? OUTSTANDING! The hummus, whipped feta, and muhamarra were next-level--easily some of the best we've had. The CN burger sliders were also a hit--we had one each and they were so yummy that next time my husband is already planning on getting two. The drinks were on point. The espresso martinis absolutely fueled our afternoon in the best way, and we also tried the creamsicle cocktail and the shrimp Za'atar from the regular menu--both were super delicious in their own way. The ambiance was great, and the bartender was clearly on top of things, which always adds to the overall vibe. One thing worth noting: happy hour is now only offered Monday-Thursday, but Sydney was kind enough to honor it for us on Saturday since the website hadn't been updated yet. That level of service really sealed the deal for us. Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish--great food, great drinks, and even better service. Easy five stars.

Honestly, that almost sent me right back out the door. I wanted an actual menu, not a tiny phone screen with lots of scrolling and submenus, especially since I had questions about the food. The atmosphere felt a bit impersonal at first, mostly because of the mall setting and the QR-code ordering system, but the friendly staff helped make it feel much more comfortable once we got settled. The two people working the front were both very pleasant, answered my questions, and made the whole experience feel much more welcoming. They had a decent IPA selection and a variety of bar foods (pizza, wings, appetizers). We ordered the arancini, fried cauliflower, and a pizza. Easily accessed off 101 in a nice neighborhood sita this little gem. We didn't want a super fancy dinne but enjoy good food with excellence as a standard. I could tell.when we walked in it was a good fit for our stop on the way home from Stinson Beach. If been craving clam chowder which was what I ordered. It was exactly what I had in mind. Super creamy and satisfying. The rest of the food was pretty average. Fish and chips was huge served with crinkle fries And coleslaw. The burger was hefty but was on the dry side since the special dressing was skimpy. The onion rings were large and extra crispy. Our server was very friendly. She checked in on us throughout the whole time and was happy to grab anything we needed . Old school, relaxing atmosphere with a throwback class that can't be found these days in a lot of establishments. We skipped dessert. Would like to visit again during the day and sit outside on n the surrounding patio by the water to take in the view.

I had Fish Hook before in San Francisco and got to try this location and the food is amazing!…read more I got the oysters, the ling cod fish plate, and black cod tacos and my favorite is definitely the ling cod plate. The ling cod is one of my favorite fish they have there and the rice and the tomatoes on the plates are delicious!!! I wish the staff here are more friendly and the food can come out a little slow, especially on the weekends. The staff mentioned that we would have to wait for 30-45minutes for the fish and chips so I didn't get it and I wish I could if I didn't have to wait that long. But overall I really enjoyed coming here for fresh fish options and a great place to come with friends!

4 -- Good Food, Cool Vibes & a Little Habanero Surprise…read more Hook Fish in Mill Valley definitely seems to be a popular spot! We only waited about 15 minutes, but I heard some people were waiting 1.5 HOURS So I guess we caught them on a good day... or somebody upstairs really likes us. The energy here was pretty cool. Families, pups, people hanging out--it had that laid-back, "I'm just here to eat good food and enjoy the day" type of atmosphere. You really can't go wrong with that. Now, if you're doing keto like me, they're not exactly the most keto-friendly spot, but I was able to make it work with a salad and grilled fish. The vinaigrette was actually pretty decent, while the crema? ‍ It was giving... absolutely nothing. Definitely needed some flavor. The carrot habanero hot sauce was decent too, and honestly, I wasn't digging the whole dish. Was it the best thing I've ever eaten? Nah. But a friend invited me out, and I wasn't about to sit there complaining about free food. That's just rude! I'm sure their tacos and burritos are where the real party is happening, but I'll have to find out next time. Overall: Cool atmosphere, friendly vibe, decent food, and definitely seems worth checking out. Just be prepared for a wait if you catch them during the rush!
