My go to for dinner, and sometimes lunch and always excellent: The service, the staff, the environment, the food, the cocktails. Stopped in late tonight after work. For me, a nice eggplant pizza and the chicken dinner for my wife which is a house favorite since they first opened. My favorite cocktail, the ADMIRAL and a beautiful, tasty nonalcoholic cocktail for my wife. Simply superb! The remodeled outdoor patio is really something to behold- it's a beautiful cozy setting, especially on a warm evening. For several years now this has been just about my favorite spot to go to in the bay area and certainly my number one Marin spot! Sometimes just to sit at the bar and have a nice exquisite craft cocktail is a complete joy. Or, if you only want a pizza, this is the best place to do it as the wood-fired pizzas are second to none and who doesn't want some pizza and good beer? With a price that's not out of line in comparison to the region. Check out the private dining area which can be shut off and secluded which is great for meetings, birthdays, bar mitzvahs, or graduation events. Oh, and let's not forget the succulent desserts. Be sure to take a stroll before or after dinner, and check out the captivating retailers at this charming shopping area known as the Marin Country Mart. There are even freestanding retailers in the various parking areas. I hate giving bad reviews unless two variables exist: Prices are on the high side Place has plenty business to withstand a not great review. The service was great. The waiter was aware and the bussers were present. The pizza was bad. It was a limp rag. They have a wood burning oven and it was well into the dinner hour so it's on the pizzaolo to control the heat and get the dough crackling. Yes we should have told the waiter but when you're starving you don't want to wait anymore. I just hope they take heed because the Pizza is at the very top of the menu so apparently it's important. read more

Update: I called the restaurant the following day to try to get a refund. A different manager than the one that was working that night picked up. She told me that she had read my review and asked what it is I would like to discuss, as if we were about to enter into negotiation, rather than simply admitting fault and reimbursing me for their mistake as any other high-end and low-end restaurant would do in this situation. The manager told me that I should have spoken up last night and have asked for the steak to be reheated. Lol! She then said that it was me who should've caught the mistake on the bill, and that I shouldn't have posted my review. She also said that I should've called the restaurant when I noticed the bill which would've be impossible because I noticed it at midnight. She put the blame on me when I did nothing wrong in this scenario. She tried to make me feel bad about posting the review and made me feel as if it was I was the one that mishandled the entire situation, rather than accepting full responsibility. Eventually, I stood up for myself during the phone call and put the blame back on the restaurant, at which point she realized that maybe she and the restaurant staff that night did do something wrong. Spoiler alert! When that revelation crossed her mind, she offered to partially reimburse me for the cheaper steak that I originally ordered. The steak that they brought out afterwards... I still had to pay for it. Everything so far is clearly being handled correctly. I said that I would like everything reimbursed from that meal and after ten minutes of talking on the phone, she offered to reimburse me for the more expensive steak and the tip from that night, which should have been done in the first place without any of this. As if the situation couldn't get any juicier, she informed me that the kitchen staff have ongoing issues with temperature control on the steaks. Since they want to be petty, I'll be petty too. I saw many servers bagging the crudities that they bring out with their avocado hummus with their bare hands. The avocado hummus station is in the middle of the entire restaurant mind you. This is a bad look for the only dish that seems to be keeping this place afloat. read more

A field trip taking the Larkspur Ferry and lunch at the Farmshop. A friend of mine really likes it so we thought we'd give it a try. Overall it was a nice experience. We shared the Poached Chicken Salad and Shawarma spiced swordfish skewers. The winner was the swordfish -- really good. I wasn't too excited about the sides that that came with it. I'm not a big cucumber fan and didn't like the big chunks of it in the yogurt . And I like tabbouleh better with bulgar rather than quinoa but that's my taste. The salad was quarters of uncut baby romaine with dressing on the side. We saw a lot of it going by so people must like it but I like my salad cut up and tossed. The very fresh walnuts and sweets dates served with it were great. Our waiter ( Victor) was great. We arrived when they opened and easily got a seat but it really got busy so go early or reserve. It is a really nice space, very large with a screened outdoor area and a pretty dining room. Pizza oven, wood fired kitchen area and long bar. Unfortunately, I am unable to review Farmshop because I didn't eat or drink anything. I visited alone on a Saturday around 3 p.m. I went to the host and asked if I needed to see him to be seated in the bar, he said, "seating in the bar is first come, first served." I sat in the bar at a table, two tables down from 2 women who were finishing their meal. I figured whomever was serving them would also serve me. The restaurant wasn't packed but it was busy. The 2 women who were finishing their meal had to wave someone down for a to-go box. So maybe there wasn't a server assigned to our area. I did make eye contact with a bartender several times but he did not come to my table. I waited 20 minutes at the table and then left. read more

I've always thought of Farmshop as a reliably great spot -- and after our most recent visit, I'm glad to say it still hits. Their wood-fired pizzas (especially if cooked crispy style) remain a highlight. The pepperoni version is my go-to: nicely charred crust, good balance of sauce and cheese, and enough crunch that every bite feels satisfying. Their Avocado hummus served with crudités (and lavash) also stands out -- it's something special, rich and creamy yet fresh, a perfect starter or light share if you're not overly hungry. Though the staff this time was "adequate" -- friendly enough but not especially memorable -- the food itself made the meal worthwhile. The kitchen still knows what it's doing, and there's a clear consistency to quality that keeps pulling me back, even after a period of visiting less often. I never been here before, but I really love this place. I am a big fan of everything they serve and the overall vibe of this place. As crazy as it sounds, I came here for some amazing beer and winter squash soup. I loved how this was a near total farm to table experience. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful, everything I wanted from my California experience. My friends had Meyer Lemon Pizza (to be cut with scissors), and it was a delectable balance of amazing flavor! I also appreciate that they had really thoughtful service, making a really busy lunch time a pleasant experience. Everything was very good, but I especially enjoyed the Caramelized Meyer Lemon Pizza and the Vanilla Meringue Creamsicle. If you like pineapple on your pizza, you'll like the slightly less sweet Meyer Lemon Pizza. The flavor and multiple textures of the Meringue Creamsicle was incredible. It had been awhile since we ate at Farmshop. (Covid keeping me from my usual commute which made it convenient) We decided to give the place a try when shopping locally, and we're really glad we did. I thought this Farmshop is identical to the one I've visited in Santa Monica but it wasn't. During weekends, this place is packed. I would definitely recommend making reservations for any size party if you want to get seated. We came here to celebrate our Mom's 70th birthday and it was overall a nice experience. We order a bottle of Domaine Collin and started with the burrata and pears (which they don't have on the menu now) and olives. I had a pizza with arugula on it... it was alright - nothing mind blowing. We ended up sharing the sticky bun as a dessert for my mom, that was good. Fair warning - busy times, longer wait for food. Had such a bad experience here tonight. The food was excellent but everything else was just awful. Our waitress was sweet and tried, but she was so overworked and understaffed that the service was terribly slow through no fault of her own. We ordered wine to pair with our yummy entrees but by the time it came, we had finished our meal(s). To add insult to injury there were disgusting looking dregs in my wine glass from the end of whatever bottle it was poured from. No one else's had the dregs. It was shrugged off as being normal but surely it should have been strained. We asked to speak with the manager (Rachel) who did comp' the wine but in such a begrudging manner that we were left gobsmacked - as were the table next to us - who overheard her, and chimed in to say that they couldn't believe how rude and "weird" she was. They also mentioned they had also recently had a disappointing experience there. The manager really made the situation much worse because she spoke over us defensively when we were trying to explain that the server and food were great. Just that the slow service and lack of wine with dinner ruined the evening. No apology whatsoever. Just said we are very busy tonight and I've comped your drinks in a very brusque manner. An old friend who lived in Marin county told us about this very special eatery and shopping market. We didn't have reservations, but they were able to seat us in the outdoor covered patio, which was perfect! We enjoyed a comfortable corner table and the natural cool breeze. Our server Paul gently welcomed us and answered some questions about the menu. We shared the cheesemonger board, which consisted of local farm cheeses, fruits, honeycomb, and house-made bread. It was just enough to enjoy our main dishes. I had the smoked salmon, which was so beautifully curated that I was hesitant to eat it! But I did and it was the best taste combination imaginable. The combination of the house made bread topped with a creamy tangy cheese, capers, pistachios, picked red onions and sliced salmon was nothing short of heavenly! My husband enjoyed the pastrami and perfectly poached eggs, accompanied by spicy red peppers and broccolini and served with a slice of grain bread and a slice of locally made fresh butter. He also loved his zero-proof gin mocktail! Apparently, our personable server, Paul, is also a local middle school teacher, and shared a funny story with us. What a memorable brunch experience! We had dinner at Farmshop on November 24 and the food was genuinely good. It was fresh and served promptly. Unfortunately, the experience took a big downturn when we saw a mouse inside the restaurant just as we had finished our meal. When I told our waiter, he said it probably came in from outside, but it was still unsettling. What made the situation worse was that the staff didn't seem to take it very seriously and didn't address it quickly. We sat at our table for about 10 more minutes before leaving, and nobody attempted to handle the situation. A more proactive response would have gone a long way in reassuring us. It's disappointing because the food and atmosphere have real potential. I hope management addresses the issue, as this could otherwise be a great dining experience. We've been debating going here for 4 years. Always thinking the Yelp reviews cant be that bad. We even came to grab take-out dessert this past January and it was popping - so we thought this is promising! Come March we decided to check dinner out. Oh boy... Most of the food was decent. The other half of our order never came. From Manhattans that's tasted cloyingly like maple syrup to a blue steak (supposed to be medium) to several missing dishes, it was an absolute s-show. Our waitress was friendly, but never acknowledged the missing dishes (that miraculously didn't end up on our bill... unspokenly). Even one of the bartenders that delivered a round of drinks jokenly asked 'what's missing?' Clearly the faults of the restaurant are an ongoing joke amongst the staff. Sigh... Pretty sure this is just a money laundry for some entrepreneurial Marin-ites. The pizzolo is a G though and hits well above the rank of this restaurant. One and done. This was my go-to place while staying at the Marriott across the street (walking distance). So good! And even when packed (which it usually is) I could eat at the bar. I had Saturday dinner, Sunday brunch and... Sunday dinner. 3 exceptional meals! Excellent service too! First dinner was the homemade pasta with lamb sausage and broccolini. OMG it was heaven - such a perfect, mild spicy sauce. The Sunday brunch was amazing: perfect smoked salmon with pickled onions on cream cheese-spread home-made whole grain bread with roasted pine nuts. And then the pièce de résistance : A homemade pastrami platter sitting in a Devine sauce with poached eggs on top. Slop that onto the chunks of farm bread and I was in heaven again. Then the final dinner: Homemade pasta again but with short rib fallen off the bone in the middle, all in a Sherry sauce with those little tree mushrooms - to die for. I splurged with the key-lime merengue desert, which was over-the-top merengue, but what made it work were razor-thin slices of candied, yet tart lime sprinkled across the merengue "helmet" over a super-tart pie. What's great is that there's parking and cute shops in Marin Mart formally known as Larkspur Landing. Farmshop is fresh and dark and great to have a dinner. The music in the dining room is slightly too loud. We ordered the mushroom pizza, salad for me and soup for my mom. The pizza cane out first. They try to be rustic by serving the pizza with scissors. The scissors are really dull and we couldn't cut slices. When a food runner came by we asked for a sharper pair and he offered to cut the pizza for us. I asked where the mushrooms were and he said he just washed his hands and proceeded to pick him fingers into the pizza to show us a mushroom piece. My chicory salad was pretty and yummy. It came well after the pizza. My mom had the cup of soup but thought it was a bowl because it was $17. It was the size of a mug. The steam reflected how hot it was and she burned her mouth. We told our server that it was really hot and he offered that they have it during family meal and it needs to sit for "a minute" and then suggested he get her ice for it. First off, kudos to our server who was knowledgeable with all the dishes and was attentive. The best meal we ordered was the pizza. The pasta is ok, small portion and the steak is average. What makes this review 3 stars is additional charge called Small Business Charge around 4%. I know about San Francisco's health charge but Marin? I have not seen this before. Is this a mandated charge? I hope management clarifies what these charges are for... maybe post before people walk in? In the menu at least? I think yelp should also have this as one of the category after "accept reservations" the next line should say "add on tax in bill". Just a suggestion! read more

I've visited Marin Country Mart several times by now, but it's my first time dining in Farmshop. Very spacious inside with outdoor seating available. I decided to get their chilled tomato saffron gazpacho for a starter, the herbed Mary's roasted chicken for the main, and their summer berry panna cotta for dessert! Lots of flavors and layers to be experienced here! One thing I should point out is that the chicken comes with lots of sumac yogurt for the sauce. Lots that it sort of looked like the red quinoa and nuts were floating on a pond of sauce towards the end! Disregarding that, the food was good. The panna cotta to me tasted like a mash-up of an acai bowl, fruit juice, and sparkling water (I love this dessert haha!). I can't wait to see what else they offer! Maybe I'll sample their wine next time (they provided a wine list but I opted not to order one this time). Got off the ferry at Larkspur Landing and decided to grab a cocktail before jumping onto the SMART train home. Easy walk from the ferry landing. Place was pretty busy but we found two seats at the beautiful bar. Once we ordered our cocktails figured we should grab a quick snack but were concerned about missing our train. Bartender recommended the pizzas saying they come out quickly. Sure enough our Wild Mushroom pizza came out quickly and was delicious. Our two cocktails weren't so bad either. Once done it was an easy 8 minute walk to the train station. Good cocktails, good food and d friendly staff... will come back. read more

Came here to say for Mother's Day weekend. As soon as I arrived I smiled and I let the host know. I was meeting somebody, and not one smile, not one nod. Just a feign amount of eye contact indicating that she didn't want to be there that day. We go ahead and order, and the server was very patient and gracious. However, the service was very abrupt. The bus boys came to the table quickly to clear all of our appetizer plates, even though the appetizers weren't done. No worries I've worked in service so I know what it means to turnover a table. There were misses along the way, such as bringing out our main dishes, but us not having silverware because the busboys cleared it. And then when I did get a silver setting, it clearly had huge globs of dried egg on the tines. There was no apology or acknowledgment when I asked for a new fork, just a "okay." One of the busboy's was also drenched in cologne- super unpleasant to smell when you're eating. Overall I wouldn't return here the food was very average at best and overpriced for the simplicity. My lunch group didn't love their food either. This just isn't it when you have so many options to dine at in the Bay Area. read more

My daughter and her friends were home from college and decided last minute to take advantage of dad's wallet. Last minute notice did not allow us to make reservations and the weather in San Francisco was really overcast and cold. Found reservations on yelp and drove through commuter traffic arriving five minutes late. I didn' t drink given that the 3 21 year olds had to filter through the lengthy cocktail list on dad's dime. Bottle of sparkling water was $12 by the way. This decade old establishment still is beautiful and holds its own with its wood fired pizza and Napa style cuisine with locally raised and grown meats and vegetables. While the girls enjoyed more of a liquid based dinner full of appetizers and a shared pizza, I had the squid ink and crab spaghetti which was nice and spicy. I think next time I will try the pork chops but I had already eaten a large burger for lunch. The avocado hummus served with a multigrain flatbread is a star item. i have to say the peanut brittle on the the Cheeseboard was a little bit of amuse bouche for me, I can't lie.
