While staying at Cavallo Point we planned to eat dinner at Sula. We made reservation for 2. We sat in the lounge area of the restaurant which had a view of one of the towers of the Golden Gate Bridge glowing in the fog. (Note: tables of 4 will have better views in the lounge as they are right next to the window). Although pricey I recommend the special pours of wine, especially if they have Our Lady of Guadalupe in Santa Rita. We ended up sharing three appetizers which were all delicious. One of the dishes we ordered from room service the night before came from this menu and it was also quite good. We enjoyed the meal and especially the wine selection. We toured Cavallo Point Lodge's event spaces and shortly after, dined at Sula for weekend brunch/lunch. We had incredibly high hopes as this was a 2 Michelin Key hotel...but left pretty disappointed. Service was friendly but unfortunately didn't make up for the food. We ordered the blue crab cake, miso Caesar salad, steak and eggs, and corn custard bread pudding. If anything- get the crab cake. We left disheartened and still wonder if perhaps dinner is their strong suit. - blue crab cake: this was the only thing I truly loved. A really great crab cake with delicious sauce and beautiful presentation. - miso Caesar salad: I couldn't taste any miso umami enhancement and didnt love the addition of cucumber and radish. The lettuce was also quite soggy. - steak and eggs: what was supposed to be the star of the meal. The steak was nothing special- a bit chewy and I did not like the sauce at all. I wish it had a good crust and was much more tender. The wedges were a bit underdone and fruits were sour. - corn custard bread pudding: this was the biggest disappointment. My husband and I had lunch here yesterday to celebrate our 38 th Anniversary. First off you can't beat the atmosphere which is just beautiful even on a cool, foggy day. Our waiter (whose name I am not sure of but was either Quito or Tito I think - the hostess told us and i didn't hear it well) was fabulous. He was totally personable and engaging which my husband loves, and everything else a waiter should be. We started with the calamari appetizer. It was light which we like and had a very unique flavorful sauce. For the main meal I had the watermelon/chicken salad and my husband had the salmon noodle salad. Both delicious and I would get either again. When we were leaving we told the waiter it was our anniversary and he said just wait. He went into the kitchen and surprised us with a dessert tray of two small tarts and a chocolate heart that said Happy Anniversary. I was really surprised and happy and it all tasted delicious. Btw I had an iced tea during my meal and my husband had a coffee after his meal. Both good. We will be back. Sula sits in an old fort, facing the bay & the GGB along the Discovery Museum 's main road. Excellent place for a quick getaway from the city. The decor was industrial opulence and yet very comfortable. We were a party of 3, we were seated in the back room with a larger party with small screaming children (not cool, especially when the reservation was made weeks ago). But enough of that...the food and service were above expectations. Michael was attentive, but not intrusive and was engaged. We indulged in sharing 3 starters which were all delicious, followed by their non-traditional brunch offerings (excellent choices). Would I visit again? Sure, but seated in bar area. Wow, what a lovely restaurant! I had the blueberry brioche French toast and it was so fresh and balanced. It was a great start to the morning. I don't normally like coffee but their latte was so warm and comforting, it was perfect for a foggy Sausalito morning. The location is also impeccable! We both had the Pomegranate Chicken Salad with roasted butternut squash, apple, pecans, dried cranberries, and cider dressing. The flavors, textures, and colors were so wonderful--creamy Gorgonzola, vibrant edible magenta and deep yellow flower petals atop green frisée, arugula, and crispy sage. It was such a generous helping that we both took half of it home to have room for a shared dessert. We chose the Apple Cobbler with caramelized apples, puffy biscuit, miso caramel ice cream. I had the 2021 Under the Wire sparkling rosé. The bubbles were subtle and paired well with all the flavors of the salad. The location of Sula is the absolute best. Sitting outside at Cavallo Point and looking at the Golden Gate Bridge and the rolling green hills around it cannot be topped. I would definitely recommend coming here for a drink. Also, the bistro side (Farley Bar) is decent (at least as far as the burger goes). Sula, the restaurant fine dining side, does not have very good food. The food has been on a steady decline since the change from Murray Circle in 2022. Previously, it featured fantastic California cuisine that highlighted some of the best offerings in the area: the fresh oysters were particularly memorable. It was a rare instance where a restaurant with an unmatchable setting and ambiance still invested in serving really tasty food. Sula has decided to forgo this and instead move towards Asian fusion (a bit of a head scratcher). There also seems to be a move away from local produce: the romaine in Caesar salad tasted as though it was from a bag, and it was wholly unnecessary to add miso to the dressing (in fact, the seasoning was decidedly off because of the miso). There seems to be a requirement to dust each dish with edible flowers, but they don't do anything for the flavors of the dish. I got the short rib ragu bolognese: the short ribs and pappardelle were good, but the sauce lacked depth and it was clear that it had not been cooked for a long time to meld the flavors (the tomato pieces were still whole). The truffle risotto was simply a mound of cooked rice that lacked flavor: there was a hint of some truffle, but the dish was not creamy nor savory as one might expect risotto to be. The cocktails were quite good, and the carmelized bread pudding was decent (thankfully not fusion-ized with miso or soy sauce or some other poorly fitting Asian flavor). If you're going to come to Cavallo Point (which you should, it's great), I would highly recommend going just to Farley Bar and sticking with drinks. read more

We stayed at the Cavallo Point Lodge for a few days so we ate at Sula several times - three days for breakfast and two for dinner. The interior is classy without being stuffy. We ate exclusively in the front of the restaurant by the windows - there is a big more formal looking room in the back but I didn't see anyone there. It was pretty quiet mid-week so maybe they use that when it's busy. I liked the art and the decor a lot - it went well with the history of the place. The breakfasts were all really good. I had bacon and eggs twice - the bacon is very tasty and I especially loved the sourdough toast. They give you a little serving of fruit normally and the second day I skipped the potatoes and got a big fruit cup. Really nice fresh berries and melon. Coffee was also excellent. I also had the avocado toast one day and it was incredible - lots of butternut squash on top which was a really tasty and beautiful surprise. I would recommend skipping the tomato - it didn't add anything and made it harder to eat. I wound up taking them out. We ate a couple of dinners here too and I thought the dinner menu was ok but not as consistent as breakfast and lunch (they share a kitchen with Farley next door). My husband had a NY steak that wasn't a great cut and was overcooked. To their credit they took it off the bill without question. The fig and burrata appetizer was good. I had goat cheese ravioli that was just ok and the petrale sole which was excellent. The servers were all excellent - they introduced themselves and were really friendly and remembered us from day to day. Outstanding is an understatement. My boyfriend and I dined here Saturday, 7/19/2025 to celebrate his birthday. We made a reservation at 5pm right when they opened for dinner. It was rich in flavor and the pork was cooked perfectly. It was difficult to choose our favorite. For our main course my boyfriend ordered the coffee-crusted steak while I ordered the Petrale Sole. Both absolutely delicious. I probably would have liked a tad bit more flavor in the Petrale Sole but is was already a perfect dish. For dessert we went for the Basil Limoncello Tiramisu which was a different take on Tiramisu yet had the traditional elements added in. We really enjoyed the strawberry sorbet. This restaurant shares a kitchen with the one next door, so you can take a look at both menus! Its fancy interior, but also felt okay to dress more casual/warm since it was such a cold night! We ordered shrimp tempura baos, pork belly mac, pomegranate chicken salad, and beef ragu. All were wonderful! We also had 4-5 bay breeze drinks and they gave us a cute anniversary dessert bite! What can I say except this is one of my most favorite places to eat when we stay in Sausalito. Even better when we are staying at Cavallo Point because we can just walk from our room for breakfast, lunch and dinner or visit the bar at Farley! The food is always excellent and we have our favorite servers. It is elevated casual dining and the restaurant is beautiful with fire places and heaters on the patio if you are dining outside. We have dined outside for breakfast and lunch but inside for the evening. We stayed for 3 nights at Cavallo this time so we ate our way through most of the menu yet again! I highly recommend as it is such a hidden gem tucked back in Sausalito. My family decided to take my brother here for his birthday because Sula is one of his favorite restaurants. I had not experienced Sula but am SO glad I got to! The setting is beautiful, the restaurant is an architectural and interior design delight, and the food is uniquely amazing. My four year old nephew and I were greeted by kind, friendly staff upon entering the front foyer. My Mom, brother, and sister-in-law enjoyed looking at the grounds and lighting while walking in behind us. Soon after we were seated, our waiter came over with crayons and a children's menu that contained a maze and animals to color on the back. My nephew loved it! We all enjoyed our meal. The little guy had chicken fingers and fries, saying that he liked the crispy-ness. I had the spaghetti squash dish which had the most delicious and uniquely flavored sauce. My Mom and brother had the pasta dish called "Casarecce and Burrata" which they said was flavorful. My sister-in-law combined the Blue Crab Cake with a salad which she said was delish. The Parker rolls complimented it all. And for dessert, I dove into the chocolate layered cake, my sister-in-law had tasty macarons, and my nephew ate up vanilla ice cream. Solid food option if you're staying at Cavallo Point. Dinner is probably the strongest based on my experience. Breakfast: The chia pudding was quite good although a tad sweet if I got too much mango in a bite. Lunch: The salmon BLT was okay but hard to eat. Dinner: The burrata and pear was really good, very creamy burrata with a nice contrast from the frisee/arugula and light drizzle of honey on top. The calamari was also solid. The truffle fries were a miss - not crispy enough. As my main, I got the roasted beef and blackberry salad, which was overdressed for me (should have asked for dressing on the side). But the blackberry was very fresh + sweet, and the portion size was generous so it worked well as a main. For dessert, we got the creme brûlée, which was good. read more

The former location of Murray Circle, the main restaurant at the Cavallo Point Resort. It's taken on more of an Asian flair in aesthetic and design, yet still retains the woodsy lodge feel to it. This place is always a cozy, comfortable place for a casual meal. I came here for brunch, meeting a friend, and was immediately seated with a reservation. At noon on a Sunday it wasn't all that crowded. We got a nice banquet in the back of the place and it was quite pleasant for conversation. The menu is quite good, and several interesting choices. I decided to try the seasonal frittata with butternut squash. It was quite good, like a flat pancake of good ingredients. The taste and flavor was right on target. For some strange reason it seemed to loose flavor and became less enjoyable as it cooled, somewhat bland. Even so, it was enjoyable enough overall. I also got an iced tea which was good enough, with a fresh lemon wedge. Service was professional and helpful, not at all rushed. Coffee-Rubbed New York Steak ($54) - 4/5 The steak was well-seasoned with chipotle-lime butter and served with crispy potato wedges and corn salsa. The flavors were excellent, but the steak arrived slightly cooler than expected, which detracted from the overall enjoyment. Final Thoughts Sula and Farley provide one of the most scenic dining experiences in Sausalito, with panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco skyline. The ambiance and service make this an excellent spot for a romantic dinner, a business lunch, or a relaxing brunch at Cavallo Point Lodge. While the prices can feel high and the drinks inconsistent, the food quality and atmosphere are worth experiencing at least once. For locals, I recommend enjoying a picnic on the grass, hike around the nearby trails and returning here in the evening for a glass of wine and dessert by the fire. read more

The dinner menu during the season we visited wasn't our favorite, though what we did order turned out to be delicious nonetheless, so no complaints. For starters, we had the Tempura Shrimp Bao and Blue Crab Cake, both fine appetizer choices. For Mains, the pappardelle in the Beef Short Ribs Ragu was stuck to each other and clumped, and the amount of beef they give you was disappointingly frugal. However, the Almond Crusted Petrale Sole was lovely. For cocktails, we got the Smoking Katana, which we would not recommend in terms of value for the price, whereas the Julito Punch, Smoke On the Water, and Winter's Echo were fantastic. Service is friendly, fast, and all around wonderful. We'll definitely come again, though will keep an eye out on the menu changes and wait for a season when the options are more to our preferences. read more

This was the perfect leisurely and comfortable experience. The room is beautiful in its understated design and the tables are sturdy with extremely comfortable yet stylish chairs. The service tonight was paced, and our server kind, gentle and gracious. Knew the menu well. In the City a few miles away it might have felt slow. But here with no drive or commitments after, the timing was spot on. We started with drinks and I had a bourbon special with crushed blackberries and vanilla syrup. Delightful! Starters included the tomatoe and watermelon salad and the focaccia with prosciutto and artichoke. Both excellent. As an entree I had the Mediterranean lamb chops which came with a potato mash and asparagus. The chops were appropriately fatty and delicious... almost decadent. My daughter had the coffee rubbed steak and my wife the petrale, both to good reviews. Parker House Rolls on the side - which I skipped since I'm so careful about what I eat lol. Desert was out of the question - none of us could eat another bite - but I'd love to try next time. Rudy our server was 100000/10, an overall amazing man and kind soul. He went above and beyond to make my boyfriend's birthday dinner a wonderful night. The restaurant itself is a little hard to find but has a lot of market lights so that makes it easier to pinpoint if you're coming for dinner. When you walk in, there are 2 restaurants and a host stand for both -- Sula is on the right. Their ambiance is beautiful and has a very artdeco feel to it, low-light is their game. I can imagine this place having a wonderful view of GGB in the day. The food itself did not blow us away and hence the 4/5 stars, we were impressed by the presentation but unsure if the flavors matched and sometimes thought the flavor lacked entirely. The value proposition for dinner at Sula is shameful. They should be ashamed and embarrassed. The food was ok but not great. A dinner for 4 people with two glasses of wine and two cups of coffee shouldn't cost $600. If the meal had been $300 it would still have been expensive. The food was not $124 person good. Never ever again. There was a 20% mandatory tip which was noted on the menu but then there was an additional 4% culinary charge. If the charge is fixed then simply add to the advertised price. As I understand the laws there additional charge need to be disclosed in advance. Here the 4% was not. The service was ok but not 24% tip great. The rolls arrived after the salad had already been cleared. The butter rock hard and unspreadable. Average food at exorbitant prices. No thank you. read more

Happy 8th year Anniversary to us! WOW did he do a great job! This place is definitely a hidden gem. Drinks: Shirley temple Viansa- if you don't like dry sparkling wine this won't be for you. To be honest this was the cheapest one and I wanted to have a fancy drink to raise a toast in :) For appetizers we ordered the following: House Made Parker Rolls: There are four rolls and a side of Sweet Cream Butter and Lavendar Sea Salt. The rolls were so fluffy and so delicious. Sweet Potato Dumplings: Coconut Yogurt, Mint Chutney, Harissa, Hazelnut, Cilantro. Since my boyfriend has a tree nut allergy we asked for the hazelnut to me removed. The dumplings were so good! The coconut yogurt was a great pairing. For our Entree we ordered the following: Seared Scallops: Sweet corn congee, Maitake, Asparagus, Sugar peas, chili oil. Wow the scallops were cooked perfectly! Everything in the dish went perfectly together. I would definitely order this dish again. Niman Ranch Beef Filet: Brandied Morel Cream, Umami Fingerlings, Asparagus, Bone Marrow Butter. My boyfriend loved his dish. I would recommend getting at least one or two appetizers before your dish. The dishes are decent sizes but if you come hungry the appetizers help make you a little bit more full. This a great place to celebrate anything. It's close to the Golden Gate Bridge and is a great place to take a picture before or after dinner. read more

Though the space is beautiful, I wish I had a better time eating here. I ate here for both dinner and brunch - and the food was definitely not worth the price tag. I was especially disappointed in my eggs Benedict having a hard boiled egg. My friend brought me here for my birthday dinner and it was fabulous! We walked in and were greeted by the hostess. We were asked if we would like to sit indoor or outdoor. Although it was chilly, my friend chose outdoor. They had heaters and offered me a blanket too, which was nice. The service and food were spectacular. We ordered the chicken and watermelon salad to share, which was amazing! I ordered the catch of the day, which was wild salmon. To finish, we had the peach cobbler and they brought out a surprise birthday dessert. Everything was fabulous and I would definitely return. read more

We came here for brunch and it was a great experience! I made reservations ahead of time thinking I was booking a table at Farley's. There was a recent change with Farleys only taking walk-ins and Sula offers reservations and serves a full menu. Sula is beautiful - love the modern, mid-century design. We had a table near the fireplace - comfortable seating and a large table to hold several dishes. They have a good menu selection of both breakfast and lunch. We asked our server what he'd recommend; what were the popular dishes, boy, he knew his stuff! The huevos rancheros and their mixed country line salad were a hit in our group! The umami fries were delicious and I loved their bacon - super crispy! The only disappointment was their Ahi Tuna Poke - prepared with gojujang, mirin, and ponzu sauce. I'm Korean - I'm all for gojujang but this mix was left to be desired. I only had one bite - it did not sit well with me. The restaurant at Cavallo Point is in a beautiful location. Such a great place to check out when the sun is out! Walk around the vicinity and take pics of the bay bridge! We will be back! read more
