    Delicious Sando, and clam linguine
    John S.

A friend who lives in Sac tipped us off to this place while we were cutting through San Francisco on our way north. We didn't feel like dealing with the crowds and chaos of the city, so Sausalito sounded perfect. He was right. We lucked out with a beautiful clear day and had a great view across the water toward SF. The whole area had such a relaxed waterfront vibe. Cute shops, easy to walk around, and far less frantic than the city. Our waitress was funny, friendly, and gave us a great recommendation on the ginger margarita. Delicious. I had the crispy snapper ciabatta sandwich and loved it. Crispy fish, great bread, tangy sauce and just a really satisfying lunch. My wife had the linguine with clams and was equally happy. Yes, you're paying a couple of extra dollars for the location, but in this case the view and setting are worth it. Parking was easy in the large public lot around the corner, which was another pleasant surprise. Overall, great food, great service, and a perfect stop on our way to Northern California. All those positive Yelp reviews were right. Highly recommend.

Nice environment and good people Food size was smaller than expected for the price it was. Relatively expensive dining for a fish sandwich and salad, but I guess you pay for environment!

    Butter squash soup

We visited Barrel House Tavern in Sausalito and had a mixed experience. We started with the butternut squash soup and the clam chowder. The butternut squash soup was smooth, flavorful, and comforting, but the clam chowder was the standout. It had a unique presentation that was different from the traditional version, and honestly, I liked it even better. It was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, our experience with the host did not match the quality of the food. She came across as unprofessional and lacked basic customer service skills. We felt unwelcome and ended up asking to speak with the manager. I'm sure she shared her version of the situation before he came over, but despite that, the manager was polite, professional, and took the time to listen to our concerns. He apologized for the experience and kindly offered our first round of drinks on the house, which we appreciated. His professionalism helped turn around what had started as a disappointing visit. Overall, the food was excellent, especially the clam chowder, and the manager handled the situation well. I hope the restaurant provides additional customer service training for the host, because the kitchen and management deserve better representation. I would still return for the food and the beautiful waterfront atmosphere.

Right on the water this place has the perfect vantage point for a meal right out on the water. Whether you're having a full meal or just grabbing some drinks it's a nice spot. They were very very busy when we walked in and we were only able to grab seats at the bar but the bartenders were friendly and the bar was spacious despite it being full. We got some type of tequila based drink but can't remember the name; it gave tequila sunrise vibes though and was very tasty and not too sweet. We ordered a round of shots and boy do they serve heavy; not that I'm complaining in the slightest. We also ordered a dozed oysters and they were the perfect snack for a hot day.

Stopped in to eat but wait was long and after looking at the menu we wanted something else. We stopped in for the weekend Happy Hour. Only HH in town on the weekend that we could see. Great vibrant place and crowd upscale modern. We will make a reservation next time. Apparently weekends are super busy. Street parking and a paid parking lot but handicap parking appears to be no charge. Drinks were tasty and reasonably priced for Sausalito.

Sausalito is this place. Tavern myself I picture is of a different place. This is a great place to dine. Ambiance, decent value, and great food to boot! It was really delish! Barrel is because inside the roofline is of barrel shape. Had the oysters, ribs, chicken wings, and flatbread. All were good!! Service was great! By the water too! Nice and cozy, evening with great company and good food with great service.

This place is so good!! Before we even got there, the staff was awesome and helped up move our reservation back when we ran into a snafu. When we got there, we only had to wait a few minutes before they got our "table with a view" ready. And yes, it was a very nice view. The food was pretty good. We started with half a dozen oysters (quite good) and the shrimp cocktail. The drinks were good as well. For our main plates, they were amazing. My mom said it was one of the best risottos she's had. My Guinness Braised Short Rib was fantastic, even if the puréed yams weren't very exciting to me at first. Our desserts were so good, I loved my S'more's cheesecake. Be aware: the bread pudding does NOT have sauce. My dad assumed there would be (because there always is) and he was disappointed that there wasn't. The butterscotch is baked in. This was such a good place though, would recommend!

Visited this past Friday for lunch and was lucky to be seated right away despite how busy the place was, we even got a table with a view! The restaurant was beautiful with plenty of space. Our server was delightful, she was attentive but gave us time to chit chat while deciding on food. The food itself was spectacular, and they were very accommodating to our allergies where possible. I particularly liked the burrata and clam chowder this time. I look forward to visiting again in the future and trying new dishes.

Visiting the area and tried this place due to Yelp good reviews. The place is nice and cozy. Nicely done and decorated. It truly is like a huge barrel (house). We were there on a rainy day for early dinner. We enjoyed all that we ordered. And we were served by a very nice, pleasant and lovely lady, named Taylor. Love her! She is so nice and genuine! She truly made our first dining experience at Barrel house much nicer! We had 2 half a dozen oysters. They were the Malpeque oysters. They were clean, crisp and slightly sweet! All of our orders were scrumptious, which are: Tartare Tacos, Korean Wings, BBQ Rib Entree, & pepparoni flatbread pizza. They also have happy hour at the bar at that time. However, it was a weekend and the menu is too limited to our liking. Weekdays offer a better happy hour menu. So glad we stumbled upon this place. Thank you, Yelp!

Stopped in for lunch and had a reservation. We got seated right away and was already busy inside. It's got great views and lots of natural light coming in. It's pretty loud inside and hard to hear each other at our table. Service was quite slow from start to finish. It took 2.5 hrs for cocktails, a couple appetizers, and an entree for 4 people. Drinks were good and pretty standard. I tried the burrata tartine appetizer with grilled peaches. It was refreshing and enjoyed it. For my main I tried the snapper sandwich with garlic Parmesan fries. Food tasted good all around. At the end our server mixed up our cards and bill with another table when everything already felt extra slow. Prices were a bit high but I guess the price for decent views in Sausalito. Overall, experience was ok.

The food quality top tier, the drinks top tier and ambience gorgeous!! Go there, have fun, drink a little, spend a little. Staff was pleasant. It's gets busy there.

You can't go wrong with sunset, stiffed cocktails and oysters. I think by far they have the best city sunset gazing view on the veranda in Sausalito. Very attentive service and chill vibes. The ahi tuna taco was my favorite. The curry mussels were a bit too creamy for me but hubby loves it. Overall perfect date atmosphere, or just to grab a quick bite when you in a romantic mood or just too lazy to cook.

Did a walk in during lunch time and we got to sit outside with that amazing view. Beautiful views and delicious food. You're definitely paying for the view with the food prices. Service was really nice, the only thing I would say is that the food took long. A single person next to us ordered after us but got his sandwich first, maybe it took long because we got one appetizer but still. If it wasn't for the beautiful weather it would be a 4 stars, risotto and tacos are delicious and flavorful.

Located right on the water in Sausalito, The Joinery certainly delivers on the backdrop. Because this was a solo visit, I kept the order fairly simple rather than sampling across the full menu. Here is how the experience went: The Joinery Burger: Ordered medium with no tomatoes. While the kitchen accidentally included tomatoes (which were easily removed), the rest of the build came together nicely. The burger featured crispy lettuce, cooked onions, sharp cheddar cheese, and crunchy pickles, served on nicely toasted buns that gave each bite a satisfying texture. The menu mentions a house sauce, though it was quite light, so a little added ketchup rounded out the flavor. Dirty Fries: Topped with garlic, pork belly, and cracklings. The garlic was clearly present, though the pork belly portion was on the smaller side and the cracklings were subtle. If you are looking for a heavy layer of pork belly on these, asking for an extra portion when ordering is likely the move. Vanilla Bean Milkshake: The absolute standout of the meal. Delicious, perfectly sweet, and rich--it was good enough that ordering a second one was a strong consideration given the modest glass size. The location offers incredible views, making it a great destination to sit back and relax and relax the overall team was helpful and friendly throughout the visit, despite a slight mix-up at the register regarding the tomato modification. A single burger and side of fries hardly covers what a kitchen can do, so a return trip is definitely in order to give the rest of the menu a fair review. I would definitely recommend coming here for a drink. Also, the bistro side (Farley Bar) is decent (at least as far as the burger goes). Sula, the restaurant fine dining side, does not have very good food. The food has been on a steady decline since the change from Murray Circle in 2022. Previously, it featured fantastic California cuisine that highlighted some of the best offerings in the area: the fresh oysters were particularly memorable. It was a rare instance where a restaurant with an unmatchable setting and ambiance still invested in serving really tasty food. Sula has decided to forgo this and instead move towards Asian fusion (a bit of a head scratcher). There also seems to be a move away from local produce: the romaine in Caesar salad tasted as though it was from a bag, and it was wholly unnecessary to add miso to the dressing (in fact, the seasoning was decidedly off because of the miso). There seems to be a requirement to dust each dish with edible flowers, but they don't do anything for the flavors of the dish. I got the short rib ragu bolognese: the short ribs and pappardelle were good, but the sauce lacked depth and it was clear that it had not been cooked for a long time to meld the flavors (the tomato pieces were still whole). The truffle risotto was simply a mound of cooked rice that lacked flavor: there was a hint of some truffle, but the dish was not creamy nor savory as one might expect risotto to be. The cocktails were quite good, and the carmelized bread pudding was decent (thankfully not fusion-ized with miso or soy sauce or some other poorly fitting Asian flavor). If you're going to come to Cavallo Point (which you should, it's great), I would highly recommend going just to Farley Bar and sticking with drinks.

The energy in the restaurant is lively and loud. There were people watching the game at the bar and many parties chatting it up around you. It's a great atmosphere and perfect for a night out. Started off with chips and salsa. The chips were on the thicker side, which I think made the chips crispier if you're into that. It came with two salsas (salsa verde and red salsa). The salsa verde had a fresh, bright flavor with a nice tang. Ironically, the red salsa was a lot milder. It had a slightly sweet, bold flavor but still tasted a bit watery. I ordered the fish tacos, but found they were a miss for me. The accompanying sauces didn't add much to the flavor profile. The toppings and sauce were watery, leaving the overall taste bland. On the other hand, the lamb birria was a hit, but I think I would have preferred a traditional beef birria instead. Had a strong gamey flavor I couldn't ignore. The food did not live up to their presentation. I did enjoy the atmosphere and service, but the food fell flat for me. If I could describe this experience, it would be disappointing.

It's a bit pricey as you would expect for a hotel restaurant. They have lots of seating and when the sun comes out you can eat out on the deck, overlooking the amazing views of this wonderful place. Unfortunately for us it was just a little too chilly for outside, at least for me I was a little wimpy without my jacket. Everything we had was great. I had the salmon BLT, the Miso Caesar with grilled shrimp, and the last day I had the burger. The burger and sandwiches come with salad, if you want to get fries there is an up charge. I like salads and I'm used to the opposite so I was pleased. And the salads are generous, with radish and tomatoes and good lettuce. My husband did get the fries on the last day and they were yummy - worth the up charge for sure. The burger was his favorite - he also liked his chicken sandwich but it was a little harder to eat. Service staff is all excellent. I'd definitely come here again, even if I wasn't staying at the hotel.
