Beautiful views of the water. Popular Sausalito restaurant. Showing some wear and tear. Tried to go for a late lunch at 2 pm and the place was packed with an hour waiting time for a table. Invited to sit at the bar which provides a limited menu. Ended up getting several appetizers. Crab Cales, Calamari and baked artichoke. All were very good. Service was a little delayed due to the crowd, but our waiter was pretty fast once he actually got to us. Came here after we scattered our loved one. I haven't been here for over 35 years. It was a favorite of my parents and my Aunt as we took out of town visitors here because of not only the food but the beautiful views of the Bay. It was a beautiful day and the restaurant was busy in the late afternoon. There is an extensive menu but I finally decided on the fish and chips. It arrived and I found it interesting. The fries or chips are not traditional Chip, ie not steak fries and it came with two sau es. Not the traditional tarter sauce. It was ok, but so t think I'd order again. This was our first time, trying this beautiful restaurant. And did not disappoint. We took the sf ferry so I couldn't say much about parking situation. The view is amazingly spectacular, we made a reservation requesting a table with view by the way. We ate here a little while back when my husband's family was visiting. My sister in law looked up dining spots with a view, that allowed us to make a reservation. The Spinnaker ended up being the final choice. The Spinnaker is a family run business that has been around for over 61 yrs. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a Sunday brunch (ONLY on Sunday). For their lunch menu - they offer a plethora of seafood dishes, in addition to sandwiches, burgers, salads, pasta dishes, and straightforward chicken and steak dishes. Their dinner menu is very similar, minus the burgers and sandwiches. We were seated quickly, as soon as we arrived. The interior of The Spinnaker is quite dated with an older looking carpet and a small bathroom set-up...but the view...The view was beyond epic. We were seated right in front of huge clean windows - that allowed panoramic views of the picturesque bay. It was a magical day and it was so nice to sit inside - out of the wind and the strong sun, while still enjoying the stunning views of the calming water and the San Francisco skyline. Most of our table ordered seafood dishes. No one was necessarily wowed by their meal, but everyone enjoyed their dishes. We mostly loved that there was no wait for our table, that our server was friendly, and that we were able to hear each other speak while basking in breathtaking views of the Bay. It isn't every day that you ride the Blue/Gold Ferry from Pier 41 at Fisherman's Wharf in SF to Sausalito. We took the 11:45am ferry, landed 30 mins later in Sausalito and made the 10 minute walk 30 minutes early for our 1pm reservation. We were pleasantly greeted by the Hostess who said, 'yes, we have a wonderful table for you' and indeed they did. We were escorted to a 4 top in the front corner with sweeping views of SF Bay, Angel Island and Tiburon. Must say, it was the best table in the house! Our waitress, Maya, greeted us and was most friendly and answered any questions we had about the menu. We went from Brunch, to Lunch, to Sandwiches and back to Lunch and we ordered the Pasta Primavera and the Tomahawk Pork Chop (I only took a photo of the front of the menu thinking we'd be having Brunch). My companion enjoyed the Pasta Primavera and I tasted as well and with the basil pesto base along with the vegetables it was served piping hot as was the Halibut Piccata. Halibut was tender, not overcooked and served with white wine, lemon and capers. I gave them a full five stars for service, recognizing our milestone of 7 years together, the wonderful table, our meals served piping hot and tasty, and the complimentary dessert of 3 big scoops of vanilla gelato. The Spinnaker in Sausalito is one of those places you go for the setting as much as the meal. The view is genuinely amazing and hard to beat being right on the water with that backdrop. The ambiance matches it too. It's relaxed and scenic without trying too hard. Service was a highlight: friendly, attentive, and easygoing in a way that makes you want to linger a bit longer. Food-wise it was a bit of a mixed bag. The crab cakes didn't quite land. They oddly reminded me of that scene in Vacation where Cousin Eddy's family makes Hamburger Helper without the hamburger. Just missing something essential. The chicken parm sandwich was okay but could've used a lot more marinara (and pesto) to bring it together. On the plus side, the iced tea was solid - bold and refreshing. Overall, it's a good spot if you're prioritizing the view, vibe, and service. Our group has its yearly brunch/ Luncheon at The Spinnakers! We go early so there's always lots of parking since we have ladies coming in from both sides of the bay and a special treat for our out of towners. The view is always beautiful and we never feel rushed! Their clam chowder is always good and so are the variety of salads and hot foods. The avocado crab Lou is a must ! The branzino hands down excellent Paella - special that day - was just ok. Not a lot of seafood and the rice not well cooked Sausalito salad - good salad has lots of potential but could use better greens - the seafood was well done. Their list of desserts has something for everyone- the vanilla bean sorbe was outstanding. The service this time around was good but had to request refills for water and coffee. One of our favorite restaurants in Sausalito. While I do agree, service can be much quicker, I absolutely enjoy the view and the food here. We usually start with the crab cakes or Dungeness crab, my husband is OBSESSED with their shrimp Louie, and I usually get the crab Mac n cheese. The last time we were here was Valentine's Day and they had a prix fixe menu - I got the soup, crab and avocado, the lobster and a chocolate cake. My husband got the soup, calamari, the steak, and chocolate covered strawberries. I got the wine pairing, while my husband had old fashioned. I appreciate how the waitress suggested adjustments to the wine pairing based on my order. Everything was delicious and a perfect Valentine's Day setting and meal. 10/10 will visit again. read more

Visited during lunch in my favorite little city, Sausalito. The view was wonderful. My son had lobster bisque and clam chowder and said it was awesome. Went here on a Saturday evening with reservations at 7pm. Appetizer: our group ordered the Marin County Cheese Plate priced at $18. Nothing special- It's what you would expect from any cheese plate with fruit. Personally, I would have ordered something else on the menu. Starter: Bowl of Clam Chowder- sooo good! This may have been my favorite thing I ate tonight. Easy 10/10. Food: Grilled Halibut. I'd give this a 8/10. The fish was well seasoned and juicy. The portion was on the smaller side though but came with mash potatoes and a salad. Dessert: Hot Fudge Sundae - haven't had one in such a long time, and it was delicious. Great experience! Upon walking into The Spinnaker I truly did not know what to expect. The place looks and feels as though it's stuck in 1970 but the more I sank into my seat the more I realized that was the best part of this place. You truly feel like you've stepped back in time here. I had the bouillabaisse and it was genuinely some of the best bouillabaisse I have ever had which shocked me. The service was wonderful even though the place was extensively busy and our waiter couldn't have been kinder. The ambiance as I said is that of an old time waterfront seafood spot, but in the best way possible. Could they use some major updating and renovations? Of course. Came here today as we were spending the day day here in Sausalito. This place has the most amazing view of SF. The food was delicious and the service was great. I had their Caesar salad which was delicious and they give you alot. My husband got the avocado stuffed with bay shrimp. And it came with the MOST DELICIOUS clam chowder I've ever had. I have not been here since decades ago because of the never knowing bridge traffic. But on my way to Windsor, I thought I would stop here for lunch. I've been here for prom dinners, family dinners and parties. It was a good fine dining place to eat. To my surprise, the restaurant hasn't changed much - still the traditional Italian restaurant. Service remains the same, staff makes you feel welcome, views are still fantastic and food as fresh as ever. It bought back many fond memories. Their Petrale Sole Dore with egg batter is still the best I ever had - flavorful and tender. The presentation of the cheese and cracker is absolutely beautiful. Bowl of clam chowder had a good amount of clams and was creamy. Fish and chips were fried perfectly - not greasy; crispy on the outside and tender in the insides. However, the crab cakes were delicious but the portion is tiny for it's price. It's a welcoming restaurant with consistent service and food quality. The best part is that they have valet parking - parking is difficult to find in Sausalito and paid parking is extremely expensive. read more

The crab cakes were quite small however the sauce was amazing however I did not think the Chutney was a great flavor combination with the crab cakes. During Mother's Day weekend, at approximately 3:30 pm, my family and I identified an area for improvement at the Spinaker Restaurant. This was the closest to our parking spot so we decided to ahve a late lunch there. While my husband opted for an entree due to his substantial appetite after work, my daughter and I selected a variety of appetizers and clam chowder, accompanied by a glass of wine and pineapple juice. The waitress's( Latina) was very rude and responded by telling us next time sit at the bar if you're only ordering appetizers. It ruined our appetite and vibe. We had to flag someone down just to take initial drink orders. From there, however, food came in a reasonable time after ordering, but they were clearly understaffed. Spinnaker Bouillabaisse A melange of fresh seafood, including calamari, scallops, prawns, clams, mussels, and halibut served in Rich tomato saffron accented broth. Accompanied with remoulade sauce and garlic bread. I didn't find anything spectacular about this dish - not that it was bad, the portions were small-ish and flavors limited. Chicken Parmesan Red sauce was a weird, basic cream sauce that was short on flavor and had no punch to it. Chicken breasts were okay. The scenery is beautiful, and the location is excellent and secluded. The food is decent, though a bit overpriced. Most people end up spending just over $40 per person after tax. The restaurant is relatively clean inside, but there are quite a few flies. The floor manager provides good service, but the quality of the servers varies greatly. Since there are few Chinese customers, some servers are noticeably discriminatory toward Chinese patrons. What I liked most were their chicken penne with white sauce and the crab cake combo. The pasta could've used more sauce, but it still tasted good. The vegetables and mashed potatoes that came with the crab cakes were delicious. If you're looking to enjoy a view of the northern Bay Area, including San Francisco and Sausalito, this is a great spot. The restaurant is right on the water so it's got a beautiful view, outside and inside. There's a small bar and lots of seating inside. The tables are nicely spaced apart, you don't feel cramped at all. I ordered the Sausalito Summertime Salad. It's a salad packed with a sampler of seafood... prawns, halibut, salmon, and scallop. A little of everything! I really loved it and would highly recommend. It's pricey but it's also reasonable given the amount of seafood and the large salad portion. First off--free valet parking. Love that. The location is unbeatable with gorgeous views from every seat. Service was solid, and everything came out hot and fresh. We originally planned to order the crab cakes and clam chowder separately, but noticed they offered a light lunch option with the same portion of crab cakes, a cup of chowder, and fries for a better price. Tip: go that route if you want to try both! Crab cakes were well seasoned and not wet, I wish they had more of a crisp on the outside but I enjoyed them and the sauce it came with, 7/10. The shrimp and crab avocado clubhouse sandwich was a letdown--lackluster flavor and the bread didn't do it any favors. Not enough crab meat and no sauce or seasoning for the shrimp. I'd give that dish a 5/10 and wouldn't order again. On the other hand, the bouillabaisse seafood dish was outstanding--9.5/10. The broth was flavorful and balanced, and the seafood was cooked perfectly. The fish was flaky, scallops moist, calamari tender (not rubbery!), and the jumbo prawn had a smoky grilled touch that really elevated it. The clam chowder also deserves a shoutout--creamy, flavorful, big chunks of potatoes and clams. Served piping hot (a must for me), though no oyster crackers are provided. Instead, the complimentary bread pairs perfectly. 9/10 We went on a Thursday at 1 p.m. and despite the crowd waiting, our reservation got us seated right away. Our entire experience at The Spinnaker lasted just 30 minutes--and unfortunately, it was incredibly disappointing. We were seated right away and enjoyed a lovely view of the water and wildlife, which was the only highlight of our visit. After being seated, however, no one came to greet us or take our order. Meanwhile, a table seated after us received bread and appetizers within about 10 minutes. We even spoke with a neighboring table, who mentioned they also experienced a delay, though they were eventually helped. We had more conversation with them than anyone working in the restaurant. As someone with 15 years in the hospitality industry, I find this level of service completely unacceptable. Even after the other table alerted their server that we hadn't been helped (around the 25-minute mark), no one followed up with us. We ultimately decided to leave. When we informed the hostess that no one had come to our table after 30 minutes, the response was dismissive and showed little concern. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more
