I stopped by Bar Bocce on a perfect summer Friday a few weeks ago and I'm still dreaming about it. There is parking & both indoor and outdoor (water views) seating. Since it was a beautiful day out, the hostess seated us outside. Our server was super attentive and helpful with recommendations. I ordered a margarita, garlic bread, lasagna, and chicken pesto pizza. The garlic bread had to be my favorite thing here and I'm so glad I ordered it! Loved the kick from the chili peppers. The lasagna was good. And as someone who doesn't eat pesto a whole lot and a bit traumatized from a completely drenched in pesto pizza from another place, I absolutely loved the chicken pesto pizza! It wasn't overwhelming at all! 10/10 would recommend this place and I can't wait to come back! read more

This restaurant is in the heart of Sausalito. It's right next to another local favorite of ours. This was our first visit, so we weren't sure what to expect. We arrived in Sausalito then parked two blocks away in the neighborhood. We do this to get a little more walking in plus the parking is not metered. We were greeted right away, but it was a little bit of a wait. Things looked great with the tables and vibe. Once seated, we ordered a few drinks and small plates. The views were amazing! Apparently pizza is popular and we didn't order it. We were happy with our food selection, but definitely want to try the pizza another time. read more

We had a great time dining at Bar Bocce! The view of the water is simply unmatched and we enjoyed our food and cocktails. The service was a little shaky, but overall we greatly enjoyed our evening! Food & Drink: We joined the waitlist when we arrived, and got some drinks while we waited in the bar. We really liked our cocktails, with the Margarita and Aperol Spritz being two highlights. Once seated, we ordered the Shishito Peppers, Pear Pizza, and Olive Pizza. The peppers were nicely cooked and salted, and they paired well with our drinks. The pear pizza was surprisingly delicious with gorgonzola, nuts, and some leaves. The olive pizza was also good with its' greek inspired toppings of feta cheese, olives, and red peppers. For dessert we tried the affogato and Bocce dessert, which were both good. Though my affogato had mostly melted on arrival. Service & Ambiance: The only issue we encountered was the service. Our evening got off to a slightly bumpy start because the waitlist notification was sent to my phone's spam folder, meaning I wasn't notified and we almost missed our opportunity to be seated. For this reason, it would be good if staff could check the bar before removing customers from the waitlist (I told them that we would be waiting in the bar, which is a short distance from the host desk). Another issue was that the pizzas took a long time to come out. Fortunately, management made it up to us by giving us a free salad and free meatballs. This was a classy gesture and definitely helped! (Hopefully this was just a one-off situation). Finally, I was surprised by the amount of kids at this establishment. Considering this is prominently marketed as a bar, there was quite a lot of unruly children running (and climbing) about, which did affect the ambiance somewhat. Management may want to consider whether allowing children is worth it, as they somewhat spoil the lovely waterside ambiance. Overall, we really enjoyed it and would come again! read more

TLDR; Pizza was meh, service was meh, super average place. My pizzas (chicken pesto and meatball) was wet and soggy especially in the center. My friends (Heirloom and sausage) had a great experience. The dough may be determined by the toppings you get. As for service we asked for water 3 times before being able to get some. Dude was super nice about it but it was still 30 minutes without it after being asked several times. Just overall a meh experience ‍. Definitely not worth the prices that's for sure read more

This might be my favorite pizza spot in the Bay Area to date! I ordered the Zucchini pizza and my boyfriend ordered the Sausage pizza, and we loved both. The crust was slightly crisp on the outside but incredibly fluffy on the inside, and the topping combinations were a good balance of generic and adventurous. I would give the pizza a 5/5, but unfortunately we didn't love the fried artichoke appetizer, nor our wine selections. The artichokes were a little too thick, so despite being fried, they didn't feel crispy, and I felt the artichokes were too bitter to be paired with a lemon aioli. We were also excited to try some local wines, but they lacked flavor / complexity. We did however enjoy sitting outside on the patio and the service was pretty good (our waiter was prompt when we needed but also let us be when we just wanted to hang out for a bit). The space is not overly big though, and it's first come first serve, so I'd recommend getting there early! read more

I figured there would be more heat for a dish with the word spice in the name. The salad was good tho. Very simple which is what I like. Tho at $15, it was pretty small. This is definitely a pre meal salad and a not a main. We had a little happy hour of sorts before we started our meal, so I ordered a glass of champagne / sparkling wine. brut to be specific. Been here a couple times, and the food and service keep declining every time I walk back in. Went in with my wife and sat outside. The view is great, the weather was even better. Can't say that about the service. Not good at all. We sat there for 10 minutes, and no one approached our table. We had to ask for our waiter or waitress. The pizza we ordered was good, but the salad was a little off. Not sure if it was the dressing, but it had a flimsy texture to it. The killer was the cocktails. They were horrible. I know they don't have a full bar, but whatever alcohol they used for their cocktails tasted like it was strained through a jock strap. I would think twice before heading over to Bar Bocce. There are a lot of different options in the area that are a better bang for your buck. read more

Stopped by here on a Sunday afternoon and they were able to accommodate our group of five persons. Beautiful outdoor patio with fire pits, a bocce ball cart (hence the name) and with views of the Bay. Tried the mushroom soup and the pear pizza and clam and calamari pizza. Interesting combinations, but somehow worked? Two persons sharing one pizza was just the right amount. The wait staff was very accommodating and able to split our bill separately. We usually make Bar Bocce a destination -- kayaking on the bay around Sausalito, then pulling up on the little beach out front for lunch. We order pizza and hot beverages, sit outside, warm up, and watch the water. Everything here is consistently good. The shaved kale salad is an easy favorite. It's a relaxed ritual and one of the best ways to enjoy this part of Sausalito. One thing to know: the staff has been almost reliably grumpy, and you can't call ahead or make reservations, which makes timing a bit of a gamble. The sauce is sweet and tangy and the crust is thin and cooked to perfection Def recommend if you are in the area. Can I give it any lower stars than 1 then I would for the service! Horrible attitude and disrespect towards guests. This was my 10th and probably the last time to visit. Change the location and no one will visit this place. We had ordered 4 pizzas and few appetizers with drinks. After all was done the server who wasn't very attentive and every time called upon asked us to wait had the audacity to ask for more tip since the tip paid was not enuf for him. When did this become such a huge mandate that it's not enuf when service was bad. The manager was equally showing attitude to the guests and I observed our server was asking for more tip from guest who were of different color. On top of that they charge 3% for living wages (why should I pay for it). Never expected this from Bar Bocce! You lost one customer for good. Located in Sausalito, Bar Bocce is still thriving! Before this most recent trip, I had gone here years ago for bocce by the water, views, cheers and beers. Now things look a bit different, but the restaurant still seems to be constantly busy and full of life. After a full day in the area, we made it in for a later dinner before heading back to the East Bay. Love that they have Livermore beers, so we happily went with Altamont's Maui Waui. The pizzas shine at Bar Bocce, but our party wanted to go in a different direction and order pastas for a change. We started with fried artichokes and ordered a few lasagnas and the chicken bolognese. And pasta for the kiddos of course in the group! Comforting, full of flavor, and just overall solid dishes you could tell were packed with well-sourced ingredients. We def were not disappointed, and felt we were paying for Sausalito quality in a dish. With no room for dessert, I have Bar Bocce back in rotation. They've added a few other items to the menu and expanded the starter/appetizer selection and pizza flavors..a fun spot to meet with friends over a pint and pizza..and don't sleep on the pasta! read more

Had the pleasure of experiencing this venue on a Wednesday night for a private team event! Great bar area that faces the water with a scenic view from daylight, sunset, and night time. The team really enjoyed the Bocce experience and we played a few rounds. The staff were very attentive in cleaning up plates and refilling drinks. One of my favorite places I've been to in Saulsilito! We came in around 2 pm on a Saturday, since it was just two of us we were able to be seated immediately at the outdoor bar area which was fine with us! I think if you have more people and want I table I would recommend reserving ahead of time. Staff was very friendly and the vibes and ambiance was unmatched! A view right to the water with reasonable prices, hard to find in this area. We got the zucchini pizza which was so so delicious. We ordered the kale pesto pizza and as you can see in the photo, it had quite a lot of Kale but OMG the pizza was amazing! Bar Bocce is the kind of place you dream of going when you're the star of your own movie. It has everything; a beach with tiny lapping waves, a marina, sunshine, outdoor seating, great pizza and a full bar. Now that we've taken care of the atmosphere; It's a great place to bring a date. I've had some great meals here. I remember a fantastic Po Boy sandwich from a few years ago. I'll be going back to Bar Bocce and I hope the management takes the opportunity to tighten up the kitchen and service. More attentiveness and less laziness would be our polite recommendation. The clients are on vacation, not the staff. We sent back our fennel and artichoke salad because they forgot the artichokes. The waiter didn't think to bring out sugar with my coffee order. So first off, what's up with the name? Did I miss something? No "real" bar .. only beer, regular wine and wine that they ferment longer / alter to "be like liquor" ?? So it's the name of cocktails but made with wine. I don't know the process. So I guess you could have a wine bar.. but, nah. Bocce ball is only for private parties? So to have that name is so misleading. CHANGE IT? Or do better. Anyways .. Food.. - Crispy artichokes were good - Kale and shredded Brussel sprouts salad is really good initially! But the kale gets overwhelming bitter eventually. - Heirloom Tomato pizza was literally the worst pizza I have ever had. Barely any cheese and bacon. No flavor. Besides the cheese & bacon they add the ingredients on after the pizza is baked so you're eating cold pizza. (The waiter overheard me question why it was cold and told me the reason) Also the tomatoes did not look like heirlooms. We sent it back! - Pork Sausage pizza.. a waste of money but we were hungry so we dealt with it. Barely any toppings and a lack of flavor. Service .. - Host / greeter, could use some work. Not the friendliest or welcoming - Server was excellent, nice and attentive General ambiance / area - feels crowded but not too bothersome - Beautiful view outside!! - Shakey uneven tables lol - one bathroom outside (I'm unsure about inside) Drinks were basic. Come here for the view on a nice day, not the food. There are a few decent things on the menu, but it's not going to be a fine dining culinary experience. Quick bites or pizza. Salads are ok. Meatballs are tender but didn't like the sauce or taste of them. They had huge whole pine nuts in them - too much. It's a smaller place so there can be a wait and things can be a little tight with seating. And they don't take reservations. Don't eat inside, not much in there except bathrooms. Some of the outdoor tables are very wobbly and the place is on a slight slope, some high tables seem borderline unsafe especially for old people who could fall. We showed up at 7:55 p.m. on a Friday night expecting to order food, since Yelp, Google, and Bar Bocce's own website all said they were open until 9:00 p.m. Instead, we were turned away and told they were closing at 8:00 p.m. What made it worse was the hostess's complete lack of concern. No apology, no acknowledgment that their posted hours were inaccurate, and no real effort to handle the situation with any hospitality at all. If you're going to stop serving or close earlier than advertised, update your hours. Very disappointing experience. read more

Visiting Sausalito and not stopping at this place is truly a bad idea! Lol... Every time I come to Sausalito, Bar Bocce is my home, where I can eat exquisite food and at the same time enjoy a tranquil, warm, and beautiful ambiance with friends and family. The food is incredibly delicious, and the service is quite fast and efficient. This time we ordered salmon, kale salad, meatballs, and couscous salad. Food here is incredibly mid while being expensive even by Bay Area standards. The location and atmosphere makes this place passable for drinks and appetizers only. We got the Brussels sprouts, meatball sliders and pear pizza. Sprouts were lightly salted with charred but raw butternut squash. Mains were not bad just overpriced and had very tame flavor. Service and atmosphere here are great, especially on a sunny day. Drinks were also good and they have cocktail pitchers. No bocce. read more
