We stayed outside as we brought our pup with us (super dog friendly!) and even for being outside on a FIFA game night, our server was still super attentive (I forgot her name but she was such a friendly young lady!) We had such a great experience at Corner Bar and will absolutely be back. Our server, Sydney, really made the visit stand out. She was super accommodating and attentive without being overbearing. Once we told her what we liked, she immediately knew what to recommend and guided us through the menu perfectly. You can tell she knows her stuff. We came specifically for happy hour (we're definitely HH aficionados) and made it our mission to try everything on the menu. While the chips & dip were good, they're something you can find elsewhere, so not necessarily a standout. Everything else, though? OUTSTANDING! The hummus, whipped feta, and muhamarra were next-level--easily some of the best we've had. The CN burger sliders were also a hit--we had one each and they were so yummy that next time my husband is already planning on getting two. The drinks were on point. The espresso martinis absolutely fueled our afternoon in the best way, and we also tried the creamsicle cocktail and the shrimp Za'atar from the regular menu--both were super delicious in their own way. The ambiance was great, and the bartender was clearly on top of things, which always adds to the overall vibe. One thing worth noting: happy hour is now only offered Monday-Thursday, but Sydney was kind enough to honor it for us on Saturday since the website hadn't been updated yet. When Corner Bar opened in the downtown area of Mill Valley in Spring 2024, we were immediately impressed by the stylish interior, friendly service, attractive cocktails, and solid bar bites, llike their burger, salmon tartare, and hummus mezze. Lately, visits have been less successful. Bigger crowds and service snafus have impacted the experience. I love the success they are having, but a recent visit was so crowded, we had to involve the host just to find our waitress when some of our food didn't arrive. She never returned to check on us. It was a weekend, loud and full to capacity and we had fallen off her radar for over half an hour. It seems with the success, Corner Bar may be at a crossroads: deciding whether to focus on the high energy and crowds or on the great service and positive experiences that keep customers coming back. read more

Was there one thing that stood out to make me give it a 5 stars? The answer is a hard no. It was more the overall experience. The disclaimer I'm going to make is if you're someone who prefers to stick to the same thing or traditional flavors then this isn't the spot. They like to play with flavors, like adding tzatziki to the burger and salt and olive oil to the ice cream. We were greeted at the door and asked whether we would be joining them for dinner or just cocktails, for proper seating. We said both and were seated at the table. Vincent was fabulous and provided the most conscientious service we've received in a long time. They have 2 bars, I know WOW!!! With indoor and outdoor seating, quite cute. And, they make great cocktails. Well balanced and boozy, both the Manhattan and old fashioned. They also have a great selection of high end etoh. Got hubby to try Blanton gold, which I haven't found anywhere else. As for food, we ordered the duck wings and shared a burger. Got 6 wings, which was perfect for us. On a side note, read a review criticizing the portion for the price of wings. We felt it was appropriate as they're duck wings, and duck is more expensive than chicken. In my experience Corner Bar was not successful as a restaurant, but could be seen as successful as a bar. Logistics: The space opens at 4pm - but for some reason did not serve food until 5pm which isn't listed on the menu or their hours, but is listed in one small place on their landing page. They have two sections of patio seating - four tables for parties of 2+, and four tables for 1-2 people. The tables for the larger parties are normal sized tables, but the 1-2 person tables are very small and can fit at most two appetizers. We would have preferred sitting at the larger tables as they were in the sun because even though the restaurant opens at 4pm, there are no built in heaters for their patio. Their site also states the outside tables are first come first serve (no outside reservations) which according to a note a server handed us, is incorrect. Food: In my experience, although the quality of the ingredients was very high, every single dish we had was either poorly designed or poorly executed. The brussels sprouts were an unbalanced dish. Very heavy on the vinegar, they were covered in a flavorless cheese with spicy peppers interspaced throughout. For five or six bites it would give vinegar, then when you got a pepper it would give nothing but fire. The breading on the calamari was thick and almost flavorless, however the sauce it came with was well done and saved the dish, so personally I felt it was the most successful of everything we ordered, Additionally, I personally enjoyed the duck although the honey did not. Like other reviewers have stated, there was very little meat on the wings and overall it would have made a better impression as a duck egg roll. For my entree I had the halibut. My experience with the dish really depresses me because the fish was so perfectly cooked, and so perfectly seasoned. It was absolutely mouth-watering and they stuck it on top of this horrible vegan goulash. Under the perfectly cooked fish was a mix of whole chickpeas (without skin removed), sliced green beans and peas, drowned in a salsa soup. If they had just plated the halibut and done a pea puree it would have been chefs kiss, but as it was it was so unbalanced - there aren't even words. At the end of the day, there just seems to be an issue in how Corner Bar's menu was designed and the logistics of the space so bringing in a new chef to redesign and installing heaters above the tables would likely go a long way. read more

The food is not like anything you'll find in Mill Valley, the service is superior, the ambiance is top notch. Bartenders are THE BEST, service staff are AHMAZING! The good: The overall vibe and service are excellent. The food was tasty. We had the Mezza platter, wings, deviled eggs, and Chicory salad. All of it was good. The bad: I ordered an old fashion and a new drink they offered, coconut something. Both were poorly constructed. I don't like sweet drinks at all but whoever made these missed the mark on balancing the different elements. The old fashion was without even a hint of sweet and way too watery. The coconut drink was on its way to being good but lacked enough sweet to balance the sour elements. For a proclaimed craft cocktail bar this was super disappointing. We found ourselves enjoying the beautiful day in the Mill Valley square on Easter. We happened by chance to walk into the Corner Bar as we were very hungry and I am so glad we tried this gem! First off, we were a little early but we were invited by Christina to relax at one of the outside tables until they opened. At 4, we walked in and Christina immediately took care of us, First she answered all our questions about the fabulous cocktails they offered. As a creature of habit, I ordered a Negroni (Perfectly blended). My wife settled on a King Hugo. She is not a huge fan of gin, so Christina suggested she try it with Vodka. She loved it!! After asking for suggestions, she recommended the Wagyu Carpaccio for a starter. It was was amazing. I highly recommend it. We then went on to split the Fattoush salad. Sprinkled with house made pita bits with spices, it was fresh and tasty. We then went on to have the Steak Frites plate. As another viewr mentioned, they generally start main plates at 5pm but she checked with the chef and he agreed to fire up the grill early. We are do glad he did, because we thoroughly enjoy that as well. Finally, you MUST ask for the bread pudding for dessert. Housemade brioche with chocolate and cheeries with icecream on top. Out of this world. Like a scene out of Harry Met Sally, the lady saw how much my wife enjoying it, that she told Christina that she would "have what she is having"! Before we finished those drinks, we found a nice spot to sit with loads of space for us to play our board game. We did ask the bartender first if we could play as we weren't sure if this place was vibey like that and he 100% approved. Loved that for us. We have visited this establishment two times and have been blown away both times. The first time was on taco Tuesday and we ordered three tacos. These were not your typical taco Tuesday tacos. They were very good sizes and gourmet. We just came back for the shrimp enchiladas which were beyond outstanding. The best rice and beans we have had which is hard to say living in a city with Mexican and Tex Mex food on every corner. Definitely go check it out for really good food. The restaurant is in a wonderful location and the decor is beautiful. However, the sound - loud loud loud. None of my friends and I are hearing impaired, but we also didn't want to shout across the table - as most other people were doing. Also, our male waiter had an attitude. When asked about specials, he said they don't have a secret menu. Snarky. In fact, they did have another menu - it listed bar food specials - and, was tucked inside the drink menu! There was a lovely female server who stepped in when our original waiter was busy. She was professional & sweet, she made up for Vincent (I think that is his name). The starters were good : hummus plate & snap peas. I think the customer experience is important along with the quality of the food, so that's why the low rating. They could also use more healthy options, the menu is meat heavy. Wow, I love this place. This place is popping. I came here on a Friday evening and it felt like the entire town was here. Highly recommend making a reservation in advance if you're going during peak hours or times. Parking was fairly easy to find I parked about a couple spots away from the restaurant. I love the ambience the side it's warmly and darkly lit perfect for date night or gathering with friends. They don't have a lot of large table. I wouldn't say hosting something. Here is perfect. However, I think they can accommodate. I would recommend calling them. They have so many delicious food but the one that I didn't want ketchup on my burger, but they put ketchup on the burger so I didn't really end up eating it. Caviar was amazing. Drinks were very delicious. The manager there was a phenomenal. He was so welcoming so sweet. He knew everybody on the restaurant. Definitely a great experience. Our recent visit was nothing short of amazing. Marin is an ocean of heroically mediocre food, and the corner bar is in a very small fraternity of restaurants that have it all. We will continue to make the drive all the way from San Rafael. We tell anyone that will listen about what a gem this place is. We dined here for the first time recently for our wedding anniversary and were seated outside at a tiny bar table. However, when I reminded the hostess of the special occasion, she quickly moved to us to a proper outdoor table, which we appreciated. She also offered blankets for when the weather cooled down, which was a kind touch. We started with non-alcoholic beer and the salmon tartare w/ latkes appetizer, followed by the chicories salad (all delicious). I had the seared sea bass w/ baba ghanoush (creative & perfectly cooked!) and my husband enjoyed the kale & truffle ravioli (he was surprised it was just one large ravioli, but it was filling). Our server was exceptional--personable, prompt, and knowledgeable. The inside staff was also very friendly and helpful when I went in to use the restroom. My only critique is that, surprisingly, there was no coffee (regular or decaf) to go with our pot de creme. It may seem like a small oversight for an otherwise thoughtfully planned restaurant, but sharing a rich chocolate dessert after a lovely meal just isn't the same without a hot cup of decaf coffee. Its absence left us feeling a little disappointed, and next time we will just skip dessert and pop across the street to Angela's for ice cream instead. We four arrived at a peak time, got last table available, so I'll ease up on slow service - and yes it was slow. We had to practically beg for more water. Most, but not all dishes were good. Others fell on the side of tasty while others fell flat. When it was time for the bill, the waitress walked up and gave us a dollar amount from her machine- no paper breakdown. It seemed to be about right. I asked if there were any fees added in. "No" she said. We paid and later reviewing the printout, there was an additional 4% stuck in there. She said it was NOT a fee, but rather a "tax that (she) couldn't do anything about." After some discord, she later offered to remove the 4%. It's a shame restaurants have to stoop to these extremes. My advice: there's lots of restaurants in Mill Valley - look around. read more

I liked the salmon tartare as well, but it's over priced. As for the duck wings, the Grand Marnier orange glaze was tasty, but the wings itself is super disappointing since there's barely any meat on it and it's dry. My favorite things have been the Duck Wings with Grand Marnier orange glaze, the Corner Burger and fries, the Za'atar Shrimp Sword, and the King Salmon Tartare on a crispy potato latke -- and the bump of caviar, of course. ;) The only downside is how loud it can get inside, so just be prepared for that. My girlfriend and I loved Corner Bar. The minute we walked in we were greeted by 2 super pleasant employees - a lovely young woman and I believe one of the bartenders Josh or Julian. They immediately put us on the waitlist and escorted us to the bar to wait, grab a drink and look at the menu. It all worked out perfect because 2 folks left the bar and we got to eat right there which we wanted. The service was excellent! The food - amazing, really amazing. Above average app sizes. Josh and Julian were available every minute we needed something. And the sweet bussers Herardo and William were so polite making sure we were done before removing our plates. Hands down, undoubtedly the absolute worst service I've ever had at a restaurant. If you go there and they are even close to half capacity, I would go somewhere else because you're not gonna get decent service. We got seated immediately and waited. Probably a solid 10 minutes before the cups came out. No water followed. After another 20 minutes, we asked for water at which point they did take our order. We ordered two cocktails and an appetizer. After another 15 minutes, the martini came out without any olives and way too bitter. Finally the appetizer came out with no utensils, napkins nothing. It took another 20 minutes for us to get napkins at which point we already had to go to the bathroom to wash our hands. We made the unfortunate mistake of ordering another appetizer and this one never even made it to the table. After waiting another 25 minutes, we asked for our check only to find that both appetizers were included on the check. The waitress made it sound like she's doing me a favor by getting the other appetizer that we never received removed. All in all a horrible experience and I would not recommend this place. read more

A fun new spot in the heart of our beautiful Mill Valley. Great drinks starting at $10, not bad at all! And they do the trick :) The atmosphere is fun, unique and very vibrant. It is a bit loud inside but not impossible to hear others. So far, I had the corner burger, duck wings, grilled yellowfin tuna and roasted lamb neck.. all very delicious and have a unique twist of Mediterranean style. The noise level was intolerable. We had to holler to hear each other at the table so we did very little chatting. I'm not sure if the waiter was new I couldn't hear us because of the noise but he seemed unsure about what we were saying. Also, in the company sent us an email saying for every ticket we would get a free appetizer and the waiter didn't know about it so spoke to the hostess who said no it's one appetizer per couple. That is not what it said on the email so she said she would talk to her manager and she never got back to us. No explanation no apology nothing. Rude also, three of us were brought our entrées and the fourth person had to wait 10 minutes for theirs. Good service would hold the three orders till the fourth was ready.
