After an SF eater splash and some decent early Yelps I was looking forward to trying this place out. Overall, a serious disappointment and I wont be back. Seating - check out the review by George. He's not wrong about the amount of ass that overlaps table tops during navigation. I took a two top with my parter and the width between the adjoining tables was the length of an iPhone. I have an iPhone mini... Drinks - whisky sour. $10 what a deal! Come out with two nice Amara cherries. Lookin good. Take a sip - yep its sour with about 3 molecules of whisky. I typically appreciate a light pour but this makes that $10 drink no deal. Food - form over function at this point. Could be above average but the chef really needs to think and refine. The three items we ordered were not good. Mezze plate - hummus and muhamara with quinoa pilaf. Very nicely plated with crushed piscachios topping but lacking any attention to refined flavor. Hummus - *way* too salty and sour with no taste of fresh garbanzos, tahini, cumin or garlic (Sabra at Safeway is better). The muhamara was likely made from bland jarred peppers and lacked any brightness from fresh paprika or lemon. Quinoa - cooked nicely but just salt and garlic. Barely mediocre. Duck wings a'lorange - points for an interesting effort but major demerits for the chef not having the sense to pull this item as a fail. Duck not as meaty as chicken and also quite rich. After hitting the deep fryer, which renders out all of the fat, there is a huge bone with a bite or two of very dry stringy meat. The sauce - just sweet, sweet, sweet and a hint of orange. Nasty. Burger - culinary confusion reigns. Who could wreck a $21 burger? CornerBar put in an impressive attempt. Patty, havarti, tzatiiki, pickled onions and catsup? Ok lets take a lead from the shockingly tart and essentially dill-free tzatiiki sauce. If you're gonna make a greek inspired burger why does Denmark represent? Haloumi maybe? Who thought sour pickled onions were a good idea? Tzatiiki *and* catsup? Just no. Get ahold of yourself! Nothing about this burger made any sense and the flavor combo was actually bad. What?!? The noise level was intolerable. We had to holler to hear each other at the table so we did very little chatting. I'm not sure if the waiter was new I couldn't hear us because of the noise but he seemed unsure about what we were saying. Also, in the company sent us an email saying for every ticket we would get a free appetizer and the waiter didn't know about it so spoke to the hostess who said no it's one appetizer per couple. That is not what it said on the email so she said she would talk to her manager and she never got back to us. No explanation no apology nothing. Rude also, three of us were brought our entrées and the fourth person had to wait 10 minutes for theirs. Good service would hold the three orders till the fourth was ready. Just ate there for the third time. Wanted to love this place as I live in town. Great location and perfect for eating outside and people watching. Unfortnately the food is mediocre (Halibut and Burger) and service is not great either. Unfriendly wait staff (not everyone as my first visit was excellent service). Where so I start... the nitro Grey Goose espresso martinis!!!! $10 happy hour?!?! All day.. EVERY day... I mean, come on.... Tucked away on Throckmorton Avenue, a place to see and be seen. Talk about a hidden gem. Corner Bar Restaurant is worth discovering downtown Mill Valley. The lamb neck dish is outstanding--tender and bursting with flavor. But what really stood out were the cocktails: the "Ultima Palabra" with charred pineapple-infused mezcal and the "Spa Day" featuring Corazón Tequila Reposado were both excellent choices. With amazing service and a posh atmosphere, it's no surprise this spot has become a local favorite overnight. Don't miss out on experiencing it firsthand. I'll probablyyyyy be there, so don't be afraid to say hi. Also, Karla, Jason, Peter, Lance (yes, from the cruising Club)and Henry are excellent at creating the humble and sheik atmosphere we all crave. Thank you for making it happen! The latest "sure, I guess?" spot in Mill Valley from the trio of proverbial cooks whose track record includes Playa (sure, I guess), Bungalow 44 (come for the mashed potato, but expect to want to go and fetch it yourself to bypass the lousy service), and of course, Buckeye Roadhouse, a restaurant so hopelessly bad - and, judging by the message they print on their receipts about paying their staff an equitable salary, slightly evil - that I wince when I see it on my way into the city. But I still went for dinner wanting to love the place. Mill Valley is long overdue a lively place for cocktails - or indeed any venue open after 8pm (which, I suppose, makes Corner Bar a qualified success). It's all roughly as coherent as you'd expect it to be: Anthropologie divorcee interior meets enormous TVs showing sports behind the bar. Girl in workout clothes next to us chatting with the chef, glamorous couple two sea-oh god oh god another giant ass pressed into my shoulder because there's almost literally no room between the tables and people have to choose which orifice will definitely definitely definitely touch a complete stranger as they squeeze by. (I lost my appetite when another butt knocked over my glass at the exact moment a waiter appeared carrying a lank, rubbery, tubular piece of beef on a comically empty plate.) The food is obviously totally incoherent with the decor and vibe and giant TVs playing sport and the constant sound of staff apologizing for the noise and asking people to repeat themselves (I am not exaggerating) - but apart from the rubber kebab, it is fair and might get better. Having said that, in addition to forcing patrons to be ass-to-face with the inhumane table layout, it's one of those places where the chef has never, ever, seen anybody attempt to serve plated food at the table, judging by the size of the dishes (big!) relative to the tables they are served on (very tiny! With lots of asses in your face!). Anyway, the bottom line is: 1) please can somebody else have a go at running a restaurant in Mill Valley now? and 2) sure, I guess? read more

Well, I wish I could write a good review, but after I was seated (and I will say my reservation was honored) I was ignored for 15 minutes, getting thirsty and hungrier. I have come here twice for drinks and some food with friends. We all loved the mezza plate, cheese plate and crudite that we shared. The bread on the mezza plate was very delicious! The only downside for us is that it can be tough to get a table (though you can make a reservation!) and it can get very loud inside and be hard to sit and chat - definitely lives up to the bar name with the volume level. Been there a couple times and enjoyed it. I mean it's a great location in a picture perfect setting and I wanted to have some drinks and snacks w friends. It wasn't life changing but it hit the mark. I find it comical reading the experiences of the haters though. Too loud. Too crowded. Too cramped. C'mon haters snap out of it. This isn't Cracker Barrel. CB is spearheaded by a qualified restaurant group who decided to invest into a small local historic community trying to help infuse some night life back into it. Yo remember the pandemic? The restaurant business is STILL hurting industry wide locally and nationally. Stop embarrassing yourselves w rotten tomatoes hateful rhetoric and be thankful you have a new place to go to. Excellent addition to the local scene. Finally a place for adults (no more pizza joints in MV - please). Pretty much top notch without the fuss. The owners seem to be around and want to be directly involved - which is nice to see. The Mill Valley scene has been pretty dismal recent years so I understand why CB is immediately popular. I imagine eventually it will be less crowded and quieter. But for now, prepare to strap in for the ride. Beers are good and well priced. Cocktails are the real deal. Had the Ravioles du Dauphine, which were excellent and not something I see anywhere else closeby.... Throw a bratwurst with scalloped potatoes on the menu. Richtig! read more
