Food was delicious though it took some time for our appetizer to arrive. 40 minutes from the time we ordered. We had the "Burrata appetizer," "Spaghetti Algio Olio," and "Bucatini al Ragu." Everything was good and our waiter was attentive. We would have loved to have enjoyed some desert but they only had Cannoli and Panna Cota. Nothing with chocolate. Although it was a bit humid in the back room where we were seated, we would consider going back to try their other enticing entrees. Wanted to like this place after hearing it had new ownership, but definitely will not be returning. Food - average to below average. Same chef as previous ownership, this should change. The quality of ingredients was also lacking. Service - below average. To be fair, our waitress did warn us that they're still working out kinks. Ambiance - loud and fairly cheap looking decor. I don't think they spent any money upgrading the interior. All in all, pretty bad experience. I get Marin has a low bar, but this feels like they phoned it and they haven't been open very long. They might be better served turning it into a bar and foregoing the food altogether. read more

In searching for a spot for my family to enjoy Saturday night dinner, this place popped off the screen. Italian food? Check. Neighborhood feel? Check. Live jazz? Check. Owners passionate for the business and location and history? Check. Sounded like a great combination. In reality, it ended up being "ok". And I never say that easily! First, it's important to note that the live Jazz is located ar the front windows by the bar alone. Seated in either of the back two dining room rooms, it's a non-factor. And - alone, that's ok. We arrived, were seared promptly, and everyone was pleasant and courteous. Menus came and water came quickly. My daughter was away when the waiter took drink orders - no problem. But at that point, he also asked if we were ready to order. I was wondering if he noticed that somebody was missing. I told him I wanted to wait until my daughter came back, but I did order burrata as an appetizer for the table. The waiter upsold us on Foccacia bread - I was a little surprised and disappointed that Barrada did not come with some sort of bread or crostini, but I reluctantly agreed. The burrata was already a somewhat hefty $26 -- add $5 for 4 focaccia breadsticks and it really tends to raise an eyebrow. I admit to having a modest concern for restaurant owners who may be a little tone deaf about this sort of thing. The burrata and focaccia breadsticks came just when my daughter came back. Truth told - yummy. A bit on the salty side, for burrata I didn't really expect that. But overall yummy. Balanced with balsamic drizzle pears and nuts and greens. Here's where the really hard part starts: Nobody came to take our order for a good 15 or 20 minutes after the appetizer. This made what was starting as a very efficient experience - maybe too much so - into a really really long and drawn out one. Another thing to note is that this restaurant got more and more and more noisy as time went on, of course. Just the way it's laid out and the fact that everybody seems to need to shout to talk to each other. We ended up ordering our main courses. It took another 15 to 20 minutes for them to actually arrive. By then we had been seated for over an hour. This is not to take away from the food, of course. I had the Bucatini Carbonara, which was very rich but delicious. Also on our table was the Filet mignon - covered in a peppercorn sauce with mashed potatoes (a little rich for some) and cauliflower. The pesto gnocchi was delicious and the oil and garlic spaghetti was as advertised- very garlicky. No complaints overall. With one glass of wine, the bill with tip for a table of four was $225. Not a big issue, but I will say that for the service and the amount of food - felt a little heavy. (As an example, we dined very well at a long standing Marin restaurant for much less last Saturday - and were much happier.) Recommendations: don't nickel and dime appetizers. (Calamari is $28?!). Establish a real identity - this place feels like a supper club, but tries to be fine dining. If music is a selling point, make it accessible, not just for people in the bar. Train your team to be attentive to tables. One restroom stall - unisex - for a full on restaurant seems insufficient. One more thing: credit card devices should never suggest tip AFTER your "employee surcharge" of 4% or sales tax. I like to tip 20%, for the most part, but I don't tip on surcharges or tax. Just another little thing.... I really wanted this spot to be a place to come back to and enjoy. read more

Second time coming here (the first was during their grand opening in July), and I can't say enough good things about this place! The staff is incredibly efficient, welcoming, and attentive. Our servers, Sal and Ethan, took great care of us throughout the meal, and the owner, Jaxton, even stopped by our table to check on how everything was. It's always a great sign when an owner is so hands-on and genuinely cares about making sure every guest has a great experience. He was so friendly and made us feel truly welcome. I had the Gnocchi al Pesto alla Genovese, and it was absolutely delicious! My husband ordered the Alla Mare and a Vesper Martini, and I was lucky enough to try both--they were fantastic as well. Plus, they're open until 2 a.m. on weekends and have live jazz! I only wish Elizabeth could see Divino today. I think she would be so happy to know it's alive again. Johnny has done a wonderful job reopening one of Caledonia Street's most beloved restaurants. Divino was always one of my favorite places to eat, and it was such a joy to return last night and experience its new chapter. I truly wish Johnny and the entire team every success. One of the nicest surprises was seeing so many familiar faces. The staff are still there--hardworking, welcoming, and a huge part of what made Divino feel like home. It was comforting to see them again. The food was fresh and delicious. We shared the passed creamy risotto, a crisp cucumber and tomato salad, flavorful pasta, and perfectly crusty bruschetta. Every dish was wonderful. The cocktails are as good as ever, and I was thrilled to see the same bartender behind the bar. There's also live music, and the outdoor seating is still one of the best spots on Caledonia Street for people-watching on a beautiful evening. The biggest change is the back room, which now has a darker, cozy vibe complete with a piano. It's a great space, though I'd love to see the folded chairs replaced and the room fully transformed into a late-night lounge. Welcome back, Divino. OK, so not fully open yet. I attended the "soft opening" this past Friday. I had a great time, I met some cool people.The crowd was somewhat massive, at least on the street. There was much more room inside, but a little too hot for comfort. I would like to call out the folks that kept blocking the doorway, it's just remarkable to me that people kept standing in front of the doorway, virtually shutting off the facility from customers entering, like a boulder in front of a cave. Holy Jesus! There were two or three areas from which to order cocktails outside and an occasional complimentary food item was hustled through the crowd in a haphazard fashion. The interior has not been changed one iota, at least to my eyes. Now this is cool because I always felt that there is a great aesthetic, especially the back room with the very colorful abstract art and lighting which is very pleasing. One had to go searching for a little snack to complement the booze sold. It wasn't easy. It's cool that they tried to keep it the way it was, including the staff, which is most likely suggested by the previous owner, Elizabeth. That's admirable and cool, but doesn't necessarily work well considering some have the personality of a door knob. At any rate, I'll be there a lot. I love the place. I love the music. Our experience at Notte Divino was disappointing, both in the food and the service. The calamari was not at all what we expected. It seemed steamed or boiled rather than grilled or lightly battered and fried. It was overcooked, chewy, rubbery, and had a very strange texture. I ordered the vegetarian risotto, and it was genuinely unpleasant. The rice was undercooked, yet the dish was extremely soupy and tasted mostly of vegetable broth. The carrots and cauliflower appeared simply steamed and were remarkably bland. I was surprised that a risotto could arrive both undercooked and swimming in liquid. My partner ordered the carbonara. Comparing it with the many carbonaras he has eaten over the years, he gave it a 7 out of 10. His meal was clearly better than mine, but I could barely eat my risotto. The service also felt disorganized. When someone at our table asked for guidance about the wine, our server could not offer any meaningful direction. She did not need to be a sommelier, but a server should know the menu and wine list well enough to help a guest make a selection. The entrées were not served together. Some people at the table received their food while another person waited approximately five minutes for theirs. This was not a matter of one dish arriving moments later. It was long enough that everyone else had to decide whether to begin eating or let their food get cold. We finally gave up, walked down to Sushi Ran, and had a second dinner at the bar. It was a gazillion times better, and we ended the evening having a wonderful time meeting and talking with other people at the bar. read more

This used to be one of our go to spots. Sit at the bar and have a great drink and a great meal. Never missed. Ever. Unfortunately, our last trip (first since they re-opened) was lackluster at best. We were seated at the worst table in the house. Granted, we did not have reservations, but we were there right after they opened and watched better tables sit empty the entire time we were there. And while I understand that new employees need to be trained.... our server was being trained and we were the guinea pigs. It was not a seamless interaction. All the questions we asked, had to be checked with someone else. Seems like there should be some sort of compensation for the patrons when a server is being trained. Hot tip... but the guests a round of drinks if the server assigned to them is training. Would go a long way. And the food.... oh how I was looking forward to the food. The salads were over dressed and pasta tasted like it came out of a box. And we asked the server to pick a light red wine for us.... it was not good. And was not consumed. And the server cleared the glass(a full glass) as he cleared the table when we were paying our check. Without any inquiry as to if we liked it due to it being full. Always happy to pay for items I do not like especially if I ask for the staff to pick. But bummed with the lack of noticing it was not consumed. In this crazy world, writing a review on Yelp about a marginal meal seems insane. It is. But I really did love this place and now it seems to not be lovable. Also, the napkins are a joke. They are so synthetic and slippery they slide off your lap.... But still a great location and it can always get better. You will have to be the judge. read more

Really really wanted to love this place but we were met an uncomfortable tone from the start. The restaurant was obviously overbooked and the hostess and waitress kept saying "it's chaotic tonight" which also made us feel like they didn't have things under control. After being seated and having a drink and appetizer, we were asked to move our table over (drinks and plates on it and all) to accommodate conjoining multiple tables for a bigger group. It was kind of jarring and definitely felt like a "you're in the way, move over for these more important guests." Odd when we had a reservation and the group we had to move for didn't seem to have been planned for. The food was fine. I thought the ragu lasagna was fantastic but the carbonara was sooooo oversauced. Like drowning in sauce. Focaccia seemed over kneaded. Just not impressed which was a bummer because I thought the story of the restaurant was great. The jazz and vibe seems cool but seems lost in what it's trying to be. Everything about this place was a serious disappointment! I Hope they will do some changes about it or they will have to resale the place again! I called them 3 times left messages to inquire which night they have jazz music which it does not clarify on their website! Absolutely no response from the restaurant! I had guests from NY who are in the restaurant business beside the fact that we have been in this business for many years. The waitress seemed was brand new with no knowledge about anything but very apologetic. Back room is very noisy and has a loud echo. After a long scene to try to seat in the front room even though there was no music, we ordered our food and got a $17 Caesar salad that had 5 gem old lettuce leaf half brown that no-one will serve it in the right mind, I requested to talk to the manager that did not exist so the owner came by and apologized said I will take it off your bill which they did not! I had to remind them! The food was very mediocre, specially for their price (I am italian and know what real italian food tastes like). An experienced manager or owner will refund or send you something for apologizing but not here! So we paid and left fast! Never to go there again! My advice is try to make it better or you will end up selling it again, these are new owners and we went there to support them! But not again! read more

The lasagna was top tier, and the drinks were creative, unique, and delicious. The pianist playing the Steinway grand, along with the rest of the musicians, created an amazing atmosphere. The lighting in the back room made it feel warm, cozy, and inviting. You can tell they put a lot of thought and passion into every detail. Wishing them nothing but success!
