The clam chowder was really good and comforting, and as someone who usually isn't the biggest fish person, I genuinely enjoyed the ling cod dish. The curry and cashew flavors worked really well together without overpowering the fish. The lazy cioppino was also flavorful and satisfying. Overall, the food and atmosphere made for a really enjoyable meal. The views are beautiful, especially if you sit all the way in the back of the restaurant by the water. We had a lovely dinner at Scoma's of Sausalito. They are located on the waterfront and they have the most spectacular views. They are known for their fresh sustainable seafood and beautiful views of the San Francisco Bay. I had made reservations a week before our trip, for our Anniversary, to guarantee a nice table with the best views, and that's exactly what we got. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and taken to our reserved table. I think they gave us the best table they had. We could see the city of San Francisco and lots of pelicans. Their menu isn't as big as their San Francisco location, but it offers the most popular items like their famous ciopppino and many other dishes. We were brought ice waters and sourdough bread and butter. The bread was so warm and fresh. Very comforting. My husband ordered their special of the day, which was the grilled wild California king salmon. And I ordered the linguine con vongole, which is linguine with clams. Our food came out fresh and hot. My husband loved his salmon. My linguine and clams were good but overly salty. Our waiter noticed I wasn't eating my dish and asked if everything was okay. I let him know that it was very salty. Without hesitation, he removed my plate and had the kitchen remake it for me. He was so nice about. My remade dish was brought out to me and it was perfect. There were a hefty portion of the clams and the linguine was cooked at a perfect al dente. The manager came out to apologized for my first dish being overly salty and wanted to be sure the remade dish was just right. I really appreciated their kindness and making sure our evening was perfect. You can tell that they really care about their customers. It's been a while since I visited Scoma's, a true classic waterfront, platform restaurant in Sausalito, with outdoor and indoor seatings and public shore access. It's a beautiful gem on the bay. The best food here is always various seafood, though it's not Michelin quality, it is quite a classic. Here are some of the stuff we tried in a group dinner (they had no problem accommodate a group of 8-12. We were in a group and tried them all. Appetizers: mussels, oyster (pink foam was cute), fried burrata cheese was a hit - delicious. There's calamari and octopus a bit dry and fried but all pretty decent. Rainbow potato's are sautéed well. Sparkling water or tap flat water. Illy coffee espresso, cappuccino (small cup, delicious, but small portions). Butter and sourdough bread. Entree: try the special halibut it was really good not too dry. People run the table tried the lobster tail, which looks pretty cool, lobster. Risotto are popular, but it does not immediately shout out lobster. Dessert: tiramisu, fruit tart, tres leches cake. The tiramisu is delicious when consumed in-house or taken to go. Staff was very friendly attentive. Good at opening wine for corkage, kept it chilled, poured and brought us excess bottles back. Staff was also very friendly about allergies and food restrictions, though there is no alternative to whole milk, there was an effort to identify allergen such as honey and nuts versus dishes, and it was quite helpful. The sunlit restaurant is beautiful, bright, and very great for basking on a fine day. The crowd here is a bit more senior and classic. Even on weekdays, it can be filled because of tourism. There's a convenient tourist lot a block away (tickets will be issued promptly if failing to pay or extend.). It's rare to find parking on the street near the restaurant and even if you do the limit is 2-3 hours. The two hour one isn't enough for a meal. Parking is tight but not bad for those of us from SF. Also a popular destination for Asian Americans because of the view ambience and seafood. read more

We came by for a late lunch after taking the ferry from San Francisco and were excited to sit outside on the patio on a nice sunny Saturday. The patio is fairly small but provides a nice view of the waterfront and has heat lamps in case it's chilly. For food we shared the Coconut Curry Mussels and Lazy Cioppino. We loved the steamed mussels in a Thai curry sauce. The flavor was on the lighter side and not spicy at all but paired well with the mussels which were super fresh and tender. The complementary bread was perfect to dip into the curry sauce. The Cioppino was great as well and easy to eat as the crab meat is already deshelled. I do which there was more seafood flavor in the broth as it mainly just a tomato stew despite the shrimp, squid and mussels in the broth. Overall while the seafood was cooked well, it lacked the richness that I love in seawood stews. Service was nice but we felt very rushed towards the end. We only ate for about 1 hour when the server kept coming by every 5 min to ask if we were done with our plates when there was clearly food we were working on still. That alone says a lot. Maybe our waiter was just extra kind since it was our birthday weekend, but it really stood out. As for food: I had the lobster risotto, which I liked because it was on the lighter side. If you prefer richer dishes, the crab pasta in red sauce might be more your style. The clams were incredible. Stopped in at Scoma's for lunch on a Saturday after walking across the Golden Gate Bridge into Sausalito. There was a 40 minute wait, but it was a beautiful day, so standing out on their deck was fine. The odd thing was, though, I could see an empty table the whole time while I was waiting and it ended up being our table. Don't know why they made us wait. Aside from the rather pricey items, the food was good. There were five of us and we each ordered different items, mine being just a bowl of clam chowder (shallower pocket than the others!! ). For the price of $14.75, the chowder had a lot of clams and was very filling, especially with the complimentary bread and butter at the table. I tasted my friend's pasta al mare and it was really good. Another friend had the pasta with clams and enjoyed her dish. I believe the other two also enjoyed their dishes. We live one town over in Mill Valley but had always avoided Scomas as being too "touristy " We decided, hey, it's November, let's go! We used the public parking lot $$$ which was convenient, if expensive. We had reservations for 1 pm. I wrote in the online box I would like the best view 2 top. We were seated at a window with outstanding view of the bay. We started with calamari frite which was gourmet and ample portion, perfectly breaded. My wife ordered Chiani braided wagyu beef short ribs. She liked them but found them chewy. I ordered a classic, petrale sole knowing Scomas San Francisco has dedicated fish monger vendors.
