The sauce for both we went with a red (marinara) and just was not impressed by either but preference was definitely for the ravioli sauce. Great little gem in Sausalito! After talking with my favorite AI, decided to try this place which is only a four minute drive from the Boardwalk. This was ideal for my goal: to find quality food, not tourist crappy food. Had Caesar salad and 2 pizzas that we shared in our group of three. Spent $74 total plus tip. We stopped at Aurora for lunch on our way back from a visit to Muir Woods. Aurora is situated on the way into Sausalito and there's street parking, which makes it easier to avoid the crowds closer to the water. This is a big plus in my book. Ambiance and Service: The interior of Aurora is lined by massive windows with nice views of Sausalito (but not of the water, unfortunately). I was pleased when the host, who was also acting as a server, bartender, and barista, sat us at table in the corner with the best view. He was juggling a few tables at the same time by himself, but we never felt neglected. The interior walls and linens are light which contrasts nicely with the wooden floors, tables, and the dark-colored bar. Food: After our hike at Muir Woods, I was ravenous. Fortunately, the food at Aurora was quite good. I ordered the salmon alla siciliana (think capers, basil, and tomato sauce). The salmon was excellent -- perfectly cooked and the tomatoey sauce complimented it well. Accompanying the salmon were mashed potatoes and pan-roasted zucchini, broccoli, and carrots. The veggies, which were surprisingly good, were cooked al dente and with just the right amount of salt and butter. This dish made my hangry heart happy. My partner opted for the house made pappardelle with bolognese. He shared a taste with me -- it was comforting and meaty and everything you want in a bolognese. He completely cleared his plate, which I firmly believe speaks volumes about a dish. My mother-in-law did not have much of an appetite, so she ordered and finished the proscuitto-wrapped cantaloupe. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by our visit to Aurora. I'd absolutely recommend a visit if you are in Sausalito, particularly if you are looking to avoid the regular tourists traps by the water in Sausalito. read more

We just spent five great nights in Sausalito. We're old, and it's getting harder to go out to dinner, so we had food delivered from Aurora to our hotel five nights in a row. This was very good! Spaghetti was made just right, it was very creamy, and the pancetta added the saltiness I wanted. I just needed to add more salt and it was perfect. Definitely recommend and would get again for sure. My bf got the funghi e salsiccia (3.5/5). It tasted as expected, wasn't bad but didn't stand out either. The salad was pretty good; especially the dressing. We finished it in no time. The ravioli came without a lot sauce, just 3-4 spoons of tomato sauce. That was a complete let down. I echo Christian B's review and comments. This was a clusterf...My wife and I had reservations for 7 and arrived 20 minutes early only to find a line out the door. There was no one to be found at the check in stand for over 15 minutes so we grabbed two spots at the bar. We were finally able to get the attention of the person checking in as he was also serving tables (nice way to allocate staff on one of the busiest nights). When I mentioned my reservation, I had to show him the confirmation I received via text. So, their online reservation system is not synched with their system in-house. They literally handwrite the reservations on paper in a notebook in order to find your reservation. There's software out there to make things more efficient! We noticed a college kid trying hard to help - he offered to bus tables. We noticed he was passing out the menus to the people waiting in the line which only grew longer. In the meantime, two couples from the bar gave up and left. After awhile, the college kid and his date also left. We waited 40 minutes until we were seated. I noticed the spaghetti carbonara is served with a "parmigiano sauce". No, please - no sauce just egg yolk! I ordered the veal piccatta only to get two paper thin puny slices. I asked for linguine pesto on the side and it was very creamy. My wife had the pasta arrabiata also with cream. They like their cream to add in their sauces! The carpaccio had so much potential. Please add shaved parmesan and drizzle olive oil! They were completely over their heads on Valentine's Day and the food is comparable to Olive Garden. We met a nice couple who drove all the way from Santa Rosa also waiting forever for their seating. Don't waste your money or the trip. After a full day of taking my visiting relatives of tours of the area we stopped at Aurora Sausalito with the hopes of pleasing everyone's tastes. We were greeted pleasantly by the main server. Everyone found something they would like. Two of my nieces enjoyed a chicken ravioli - they agreed it was delicious. One of my daughters had Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and the other had Papperadelle with bolognese- they both really enjoyed their entrees. I had the lasagna which was a special of the day. I wouldn't normally order such a basic dish but the lasagna noodles were homemade so decided to give it a try. It was good as far as a meat and cheese lasagna goes but it wasn't very special.
