Walked in on a Saturday evening and it was relatively busy but was happy there was a table available. The staff was very friendly and attentive and they had some great specials available that night but I mainly ordered from the menu except when it came to desert ;) Ordered: *Crostino del Vesuvio - Really yummy. Loved the freshness of the tomatoes but there was a small portion of burrata on the crostini and that made it a bit disappointing. *Salsiccia - Tasty BUT the dough was undercooked and couldn't hold up to the sauce, sausage and toppings. The pizza got soggy really fast and everything seeped in. After eating about 1/3 of the pizza I just started eating the toppings because the crust was gummy. **Let me mention here that my pizza probably sat a little longer than needed because they brought the appetizer AND the pizza out at the SAME TIME which made ZERO SENSE why they wouldn't space them out but that probably added to the sogginess of the pizza** *Cannoli - OUTSTANDING! Honestly the best cannoli I've had outside of Italy. I would come back because overall the food was good and so was the service but would definitely ask that they space out the appetizer and pizza AND that they make sure the pizza dough is cooked thoroughly!! read more

Great Pizza!!! Had dinner there on Friday and it was amazing. Authentic Italian pizza like I had when I visited many yeas ago. Took me back. The crust was fluffy and fat chili oil took it over the too Brussels sprouts were baked, not crispy, but the flavor was spot on. Bruschetta was fantastic. No balsamic vinegar, and I loved it. Nothing was over salted. Our waitress was great. Very pleasant and was attentive to all of our needs. Alberto the owner, did a great job with the inside. Felt very warm and inviting. I've been wanting to try this Italian place ever since they were remodeling, and I'm so glad I finally did. It just opened up in San Rafael, and honestly--it was really, really good. They make their pizzas completely from scratch, and you can actually see this beautiful, mesmerizing oven in action, which adds to the whole experience. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, and many of them are from Italy, which made it feel even more authentic. I really loved the beet salad--it was flavorful, fresh, and a great balance to the pizza. If I had to do anything differently next time, it would be ordering more pizza. One pizza is basically the equivalent of four slices, and it goes faster than you expect. Lesson learned. The pizzas range from about $17-$25, which felt fair for the quality, and everything we tried was delicious. We've now eaten here twice, with two wildly different experiences based on how crowded it was (though the food and service was always first rate). The first time was on my birthday, on a Tuesday at 4:30pm. Not surprising that there wasn't much of a crowd, and the noise level was minimal. We had such wonderful support from the staff! We brought our own cake, and the hostess immediately offered to take it to the back and put it in their large refrigerator. For the six of us, we ended up ordering too much food, so had some wonderful leftovers for the following day. I think we ordered 4 pizzas (including the Genovese with short ribs, Marechiaro with eggplant, a kids pizza in the shape of Mickey Mouse, and I think a cheese pizza), some apps (Brussels sprouts), a Lasagna, and an Eggplant Parmigiana. Service was fast (and we loved being able to watch them make the pizzas), and we loved everything except the Brussels sprouts -- too soggy, not enough flavor). When it was time for dessert, we were about to request they bring the cake back so we could cut it up. Instead, out came the entire staff with the cake, candles lit (we brought the candles), and I enjoyed a serenade of Happy Birthday from all. Way beyond expectations. Then last Friday evening we returned with two friends to share this wonderful find with them. We were aiming for 5:30, but didn't make it there until 5:45. Wow, so different. The place was packed, with every table taken and a line of several people before us. We could have opted to sit outside in their heated area, but the line was moving fast enough that we waited for an indoor table. It took about 15 minutes. We were seated in the far corner, but the noise level was still very high, and we had to shout to each other to be heard. Food was just as good as the last time, as was the service (except for one misstep at the end when we had to remind our server that one of us was still waiting for an espresso). My wife and I shared the Fungo (wild mushrooms) pizza. SOOO GOOD! This time we didn't bring our own dessert, so got to sample their Profiteroles and their Cannoli special. Very pleased with both. So, next time, we'll try to arrive earlier and on a weekday (though I have a feeling that even weekdays will eventually be packed). But this is now our favorite Neapolitan pizza place in Marin. read more

Finally was able to try the new addition to the neighborhood! & it was yummy!! We walked in and were greeted shortly after arriving and were sat immediately. The restaurant was busy, so we weren't approached for about 10-15min by the staff. They don't have their full rotating beer menu yet but we told it would be there shortly. After ordering our beers, I caught on the menu that you have to ask for the complimentary bread. I personally didn't like this and wish it was offered verse having to ask for it. Especially cause it's in small font and can easily be missed by a customer. & it's a shame because the bread was absolutely fabulous! Our pizza was also very good and the house chili oil was great! After a while the restaurant did get packed and I will say, when fully booked inside, it feels very tight. People's chairs are hitting on another, it's hard for servers to walk between and around customers. If you want to avoid that, I suggest going earlier than later. Overall a great pizza spot. Great date night spot. We will be back because the food was delicious and the staff was friendly. read more

Checked this place out with my friends and kids. So glad we went! Service, food, and ambiance were great. We arrived a little before 1pm on a Sunday and it still had plenty of seating. I think it's because it's still new. Each of us got to try a different pizza. I definitely want to come here many times so I can try out the appetizers and other offerings. My kids really liked the pizza and ate the crust. I really liked my Margherita pizza and the bread. I saw someone with the lasagna and it looked delicious. The others enjoyed their pizza too and would come again. This is a great family spot or date spot! read more

I really wanted to love this place. The reviews I read were mixed and I was hoping my experience would match more of the positive ones. It did not. Met a friend for a late Sunday lunch. Lots of staff and all were very friendly and welcoming. Because the pizzas come in only one size, we ordered two margherita pizzas. They were served in under 10 minutes, maybe closer to 5. While the short wait was nice, the pies were not really hot, like one would expect sitting so close to the kitchen. The crust was good, but the middle was a little cold and soggy. Wanted to see what the hype was all about, so stopped in recently for a pizza, the salsiccia. The hype is justified. This is an amazing pizza - toothsome, springy crust with just a bit of char and a lot of flavor; fresh, well-distributed toppings, and a burst of flavor that had me saying "wow" upon first bite. Stopped by today for lunch and was greatly surprised with the quality and taste of the White Pizza with mushrooms. The dough was nutty tasting with a nice selection of veggies. Service was excellent and efficient. The facility was noticeably not overdone but had a very hip East Coast vibe. I definitely recommend the restaurant and I will return. read more

We are fans of A16's Neapolitan pizza. Soft, puffy dough on the edges and foldable pointed ends - but we always had to make the trek to Oakland or SFO to get it. Today we tried Fratm for the first time and now we can spend our gas and toll money close to home. Fratm's pizza is delicious! It's the perfect Neapolitan style crust and the sauce, cheese and toppings are quality. I was running 30 min late to pick up my order and when I called to let them know, they were able to hold the order so it was hot and fresh when I arrived. I didn't ask them to do it but they did it anyway. Fantastic customer service. The place was busy at 5:30 on Saturday and they don't take reservations - but rest assured your takeout will be delicious. They even put a tamper proof sticker on the box so you'd know if your delivery driver was picking off your toppings. So excited to have them in Marin! read more

I've eaten the meatballs 4x so I'm qualified to write this review. :) They are incredibly moist and buttery with a nice amount of sauce and a sprig of fresh basil. Not heavy at all. I could eat these every day and the consistency is what counts. Order them with a side of bread, which will be warm and baked in house. Pizza is very good too. read more

This place had great reviews, and it's right next-door to where I work. So one night I decided to try it out m. takeout. We got the more to tell the Pizza and a marinara pizza. We also got a salmon and an eggplant Parmesan. The eggplant Parmesan was good, but tiny and $22. Did not fill me up at all. The salmon was overcooked and dry. The marinara pizza was OK, not great. And did not do well With the time between coming out of the oven and going in our stomachs. Crust was good and chewy though. We ordered the beets, Brussels sprouts, and little gem to start, and the eggplant pizza, the special fettuccine with short ribs, and the lasagna. Everything was so delicious, hot, and just wonderful. The lasagna in particular was really great. The sauce was fresh and the meat filling was super flavorful. The pasta was soft and the cheese pull was reminiscent of a fresh cheese pizza! The menu items read nicely, and sound yummy, however the execution is less than satisfactory. Our beet salad had absolutely no dressing, or seasoning of any sort, and most of the arugula was wilted. The pizza looked and tasted as if someone threw the items on it and beer looked back. Dessert was over sweetened. Stopped in late on a Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised. This spot has housed a few failed restaurants and I certainly hope this one succeeds. The service was prompt and helpful and the pizza was delicious. We had two pizzas and a glass of wine and was not disappointed. Also really enjoyed the spicy olive oil to dip our crusts. The price was right and the atmosphere was bustling which I hope they can maintain. Some of the best gnocchi I've ever had. A lot of gnocchi can be dense and sticky. Not here. Perfectly fluffy and delicate in a well balanced truffle cream sauce.
