We went to The Shack to grab some late-night ice cream, and it was such a cute experience! It's a family-owned kind of spot, and you can really feel that cozy, welcoming vibe the moment you walk in. The inside is adorable -- calligraphy, paintings, and drawings all over the walls make it feel creative and homey. The whole place just has a really nice, chill energy. The ice cream itself was fresh and flavorful -- we tried the Horchata and Ube flavors, and both were amazing! You can tell they use good, fresh ingredients. The flavors tasted real, not artificial, which I loved. The staff were super friendly, too. I don't remember the name of the girl who helped us, but she was great -- when we asked how many samples we could try, she said "as many as you want", which was honestly the sweetest thing ever. We got the kids' size, and it was the perfect portion for a late-night treat. I'd definitely recommend The Shack -- great vibes, great service, and even better ice cream! The price at this place is stupid. Just took my daughters here and 3 scoops on cones is $30 and they have the audacity to charge 2.6% to take cards. Ice cream is fine but mill valley swirl is much better. I think they got new ownership somewhat recently and this is a classic play to just milk the customer base (pun intended). I get that running a small business is hard but this is highway robbery on a product with 90%+ gross margins. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this shop! My family and I came upon it during a recent trip to Larkspur, and we are so glad we did. First off, the customer service is top-notch. They have these awesome kid-oriented art activities that kept my little ones busy and creative, plus free arcade games that brought back some serious nostalgia for the adults. It's the perfect spot to actually relax while the kids have a blast. I have to obviously mention the most important part: the ice cream. It is phenomenal. They've developed their own recipes and you can tell they put a lot of thought into them. The ube is a must try! This place just missed the mark for me. I liked the atmosphere and the kiosks, but the ice cream was disappointing. It tasted like Dreyer's and the flavor wasn't strong. I usually love salted caramel and cotton candy ice cream, but neither stood out here. I decided to shake things up and try the cookie sando, which was a bit of a mystery since there were no signs explaining it. It turned out to be ice cream between two Oreos, but there was very little ice cream inside. I liked the games, but they did not work because they required extra payment. We waited for 30 mins. This is not the first time the order did not go through with the onsite kiosk. It did not print a receipt and 43 mins later we still do not have our food. This is not a reflection on the people who work at this location. It is more the technology they rely on, is not conducive to a smooth experience. The kiosk said cherry lemonade was available. This locally owned spot is great! Waffle cones are fresh and delicious, as are the unique and traditional flavors. The go-tos for my family are sour watermelon, Superman, strawberry, and cookie dough. It's staffed my teenagers who are friendly with the kiddos, and there is ample outdoor seating under the redwoods. Love this place! read more

Just be prepared to pay $10 for a little less than softball-sized serving and a choice of 12 flavors, most of them non-classics like raspberry lemon, oat milk vanilla, birthday cake and something blue. We were convinced to come here from some of the reviews...and were glad we did! The ambience is very welcoming and the staff was very sweet. The ice cream is SO yummy! I have been unsure about leaving this review because I know this place just opened, but I think I need to address it. I came by the shop on 5/31 at 8:32, as me and my friend walked in there was a little league baseball team getting ice cream. Immediately the kids started saying that they were closed and I turned to the teens working behind the counter and I asked "is that true are you closed?" And a boy looked at me and very nastily said "yes. We closed two minutes ago." I apologized and started to walk out, then turned back to let them know that on Apple Maps it says they're open until 9, the intention was to let them know so they could fix it. He then raised his voice said "Well that's not us so goodbye." We turn towards the door and then we were yelled at by the workers to "close the door" multiple times. Even though there were little kids walking in and out of the store. So I turned around and closed it, obviously I'm really appalled at being treated that way. I totally understand being stressed working a food service job, and I understand the process of closing a store. But to be nasty like that is definitely an incentive to not come back. It seems like they need an adult around, and also: it stills says the hours are 1-9 mon-sat on Apple Maps. read more
