I've been coming here for a long time . Love their cappuccinos and their lavender cookies :) Their hot sandwiches are on point :) and yummy Only thing I don't like it's getting large coffee on large glass it gets hot and kinda impossible to grab . Literally Not a cool idea serving it on large glass. Always treated nice ands that's enough reason to come back . Quiet and relaxing

I had lunch today at a place I've enjoyed many times before, but unfortunately, this visit was a real letdown. The beet and avocado salad, which is usually fantastic, fell flat -- much more lettuce than beets I've come to expect. We also ordered the grilled mixed veggie sandwich, and to be honest, it was just okay. Maybe it was an off day, but I left feeling uncertain if I'll be back agai

There are quite a few cafe choices with many different vibes in the San Raphael area, but Aroma Cafe is one of my favorites! Their baristas not only make great drinks they're also very consistent so you know what you're getting and you can see the pride taken in their Java stylings (the presentation matches the taste!) I haven't had their food yet but I'm guilty of eye hustling other people's plates. When I'm out this way I'm usually here for my favorite wrap spot down the street but one day soon I'll try one of the panini offerings (Did I mention they have a happy hour menu?!) Aroma is more than a cafe, it's inviting, modern, trendy and you can feel the focus on community! It's very spacious and there's always local artist works on display. I personally go for the white mocha's (of course) and the blanc brownies (which seems to be a running theme for me!) I honestly can't imagine coming out this way and not getting something even if I don't plan on staying to enjoy my drink! Do yourself a favor and check this one out for yourself! You're welcome in advance! J

Heading back from Samuel P Taylor Park we still had over an hour to go so we wanted some coffee. I found this gem of a place good coffee but a whole lot more if you're hungry there's plenty of different types of food to order. Spacious with plenty of tables and outside seating. Some good baked goods also

Great salads, service and espresso. Brought a school group here for lunch and everyone was served quickly and had their order correct. Delicious spinach salad and the best espresso. Wonder what roast of beans they use?

This café has it all. It's ideal for breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon coffee break, glass of wine, meeting with friends, or to study. It's one of the only places that I know in Marin that is open late (8:30pm) though before Covid it was open even later. There is ample seating, and I always like to get a seat by the window that looks out onto busy 4th street. The food selection is vast from breakfasts, salads, wraps, sandwiches, soups, coffee drinks, beer and wine, smoothies, and middle eastern fare. I'd recommend the couscous stew which was filling and flavorful, good on a cold day. I wouldn't recommend the Aroma classic mini pizza as I thought the gorgonzola cheese was too strong for pizza.

My bf and I went here for breakfast on our first day in San Rafael and we loved it! We both got avocado toast and egg and it was really yummy. Staff was great and attentive, I loved to atmosphere too! Great vibes overall around :)

Vanilla latte & Hungarian coffee cake

Went to this place to study once and think it's safe to say that it became a regular spot for me. While it's a tad pricey, I would order my go-tos (vanilla latte & their Hungarian coffee cake) as a motivational treat! Aroma has plenty of table space and charging ports for those who may be worried about getting a good spot to study in. I recommend trying this place out, they also have a full menu (though I haven't been able to get myself to try anything but their Hungarian coffee cake). The baristas & staff are all very welcoming and kind, even offering to watch over my electronics while on their lunch so that I could quickly move my car to avoid a ticket.

Love this place, OG cafe on 4th street in downtown San Rafael. Food and drinks are made with love. The ambiance is perfect for students and locals. It's a great gathering place for lunch, or a quick meeting. Nice outdoor seating to people watch, and meet up with friends. 'Til next time ~ cheers and see you on Yelp (SYOY)!

This spot popped up pretty high, and funnily enough, my boyfriend--who doesn't live locally--had actually heard of it from a previous visit, so we decided to go for it. Right off the bat: huge win on logistics. There's a nearby parking garage with ample space, and parking is free on Sundays and holidays, which already put us in a good mood. The place was packed when we went (Sunday), but in the best way. It's honestly adorable--there's a small playground, multiple seating areas, and everything feels very thoughtfully put together. I don't usually gush over ambiance, but the furniture, layout, and overall warmth of the space really stood out. Cozy without being cramped, lively without being chaotic. There were three people working, one of them quite young, and while we didn't order food, I did get a matcha--and wow. It took a while to come out, but when I saw how they were preparing it, it all made sense. Unlike most high-volume spots that rush matcha, they actually take their time with the full process. The result? Easily top 10 matchas I've ever had. Fresh, clean, energizing in a way that felt genuinely good for my body--not jittery, just right. They do have pastries and a couple of food options, though the savory options didn't really tempt me personally. That said, I'd 100% come back just for the drinks and the space alone. There's just enough white noise to sit and work comfortably, and the ambiance makes you want to stay awhile. This is officially going into my coffee + work rotation.

There's street parking, but we parked across the street in the lot by the music shop (it's closed on weekends, which makes it even easier). Zero stress before carbs -- we love to see it. It has that super local, neighborhood energy where everyone clearly knows exactly what they're ordering before they even walk in. Always a good sign. The bread basket? Unreal. The soup was divine -- comforting, flavorful, and exactly what you want on a cozy day. And the bread somehow manages to feel indulgent and wholesome at the same time. Warm, hearty, and clearly made with care. The space itself is just as inviting -- warm, relaxed, and effortlessly charming. And the pastries... they looked dangerous in the best way. I didn't even get one this time, which honestly just means I'm definitely coming back for round two. Already planning my next visit.

My "Soft Scramble" was a pile of astonishment. It was so unrefined that it was an insult the the ingredients. There was nothing soft about the eggs, they were overcooked. The only thing soft on the plate was the watery run-off from the vegetables they heaped into the eggs: Too many chewy mushrooms and HUGE. Too many cherry tomatoes. I had to dig to find the eggs. The leeks were strips of inedible ribbon. The toast? I think it had been toasted yesterday and left on the top of their oven overnight and then reused today. I had to get up from the table and ask for butter to make it edible and still I worried whether I was going to break a crown. The pickled vegetables? Again, HUGE, hard and barely pickled. I will refrain from criticizing the service because they are all unaware of the nightmare in which they are working. Bless their hearts. I was so sad and annoyed. People think they can buy a restaurant with recipes and wholesale accounts and staff and just run it, "business as usual" but they are wrong. I went in and asked if they had sold the restaurant and was told, "yes." I imagine some tech-bro's wife or some hedgefund community doodler wanted a pet project with zero idea about food or food quality or how to treat and retain employees because what happened to MHBB is astonishing. It's rude and insulting to anyone who opened this restaurant and put in their best to keep the name and claim to be catering to the same people. But then again, this is par for the course or, from my vantage point, everything wrong with what's happened in Marin in a nutshell. Faux authenticity. Zero care. This is now all about the money. I will never bother with it again.

The SO is totally in love with the roast turkey and stuffing hash. Given the opportunity, I think he'd eat it every day. (He did have it both days this past weekend.) I was a bit disappointed in the buttermilk-cornmeal griddle cake that came with my Farmers Breakfast. The taste was fine but it was tough. Chewy is just not an adjective I ever want to apply to a pancake. However, they more than redeemed themselves with the BAT Scramble. I'll need to try a few more items on the menu, but that could easily be my "go to" breakfast. Portions were generous. I took my scone home since the scramble and potatoes were more than enough.
