This is one of my favorite coffee places in Marin. Unlike the Novato locations this one has a full menu with breakfasts, sandwiches, salads, and Mexican food in addition to pastries. I always get the tomato soup which is really good. This location has lots of space for seating, including an outdoor parklet. It can get quite busy in the summertime with all the mountain bikers. I wish they were open later; they used to be open until 6 now it's 5. In the summertime when it's still sunny out that seems so early which is a shame.

The pros: the coffee was good. The cons: disorganized order pick up - we ordered four drinks and they came out interspersed with orders from other customers. The space is uninviting and the hand soap in the bathroom wasn't usable. The dispenser appeared broken and the container of soap was on the counter.

Great way to start a saturday, with yummy food and AWESOME live music!!

Food, service and ambiance is ALL great! ;-) Nice locals hangout. Always kind, interesting preople to chat with, too.

Inspired by my visit to Marin Coffee Roasters in Novato, I decided to check out their San Anselmo location on a Sunday--and it was honestly the perfect decision. The space is adorable, with live music in the back, a super welcoming, community vibe, and of course, their matcha was just as amazing as before. We grabbed a coffee and an almond croissant, and it was such a fun, relaxing experience. The café was lively but not crowded, mostly locals enjoying the space, and the street itself is super charming. Their food looked delicious too, and I can't wait to come back to try more. If you're visiting Marin, this is such a cute spot to start your day--highly recommend!

Yum! Ambiance is there! Indoor and outdoor seating available as well. Staff are also nice & quick with it! * I got: - Egg, turkey, Swiss on Poppy Seed Bagel: perfect temp for everything and textures and all that good stuff. But needs more than one piece of turkey $8.47 after tax Thanks for staying open on new years!

Loved! So busy and lively but you know that's all means good stuff. This latte was soooo creamy and perfectly sweet. Coffee is roasted in house and let me tell you it's some good coffee. They also have a generous food menu and pastries! -Cost of medium almond milk sugar free latte: $6.75 (Because of the modifications)

Super friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Came in a Sunday morning and they had some nice live music going. I got the eggs on toasts with pesto and it was so simple but so delicious. I want to come back to try the tuna melt

    Warm, pleasant, welcoming environment.

Very welcoming. Ample street parking (early at) and lots of table space, indoors or out. Great coffee and very good food. Ceramic/glass cups available if you're staying to enjoy your coffee. Had a yummy frittata and my dining partner tried the pesto toast with egg. Both were flavorful and plentiful.

Partially drunk chai blend oat, milk, cold. This is delicious by the way, I recommend it.

Great shop with a wide selection of teas, coffees and other drinks. My chai blend with oat milk (pictured) was quite nice. They also do breakfast and lunch which I haven t done yet. The two regular baristas have super nice chill personalities. Live music on some days rounds out a nice asset to the neighborhood. I don't drink coffee so can't comment on their Java.

Flies (bunch of em too) in bakery display case

I liked the atmosphere and the staff, but that's really all I have to say. There were flies in the bakery glass display which made me not want to order any desserts. We ended up getting a bagel but the inside was completely burnt. :( disappointing

This spot popped up pretty high, and funnily enough, my boyfriend--who doesn't live locally--had actually heard of it from a previous visit, so we decided to go for it. Right off the bat: huge win on logistics. There's a nearby parking garage with ample space, and parking is free on Sundays and holidays, which already put us in a good mood. The place was packed when we went (Sunday), but in the best way. It's honestly adorable--there's a small playground, multiple seating areas, and everything feels very thoughtfully put together. I don't usually gush over ambiance, but the furniture, layout, and overall warmth of the space really stood out. Cozy without being cramped, lively without being chaotic. There were three people working, one of them quite young, and while we didn't order food, I did get a matcha--and wow. It took a while to come out, but when I saw how they were preparing it, it all made sense. Unlike most high-volume spots that rush matcha, they actually take their time with the full process. The result? Easily top 10 matchas I've ever had. Fresh, clean, energizing in a way that felt genuinely good for my body--not jittery, just right. They do have pastries and a couple of food options, though the savory options didn't really tempt me personally. That said, I'd 100% come back just for the drinks and the space alone. There's just enough white noise to sit and work comfortably, and the ambiance makes you want to stay awhile. This is officially going into my coffee + work rotation.

I ordered an iced mocha with oat milk during a busy time and waited about 20-30 minutes. While I was waiting, I noticed several customers who ordered after me received their drinks. I went up to the counter to ask about my order, and the cashier seemed confused. The barista remembered making my drink and believed someone may have accidentally taken it since there had been a drink sitting on the pickup counter for a while. The barista told me he would remake my drink and even offered the drink to another customer instead of discarding it. However, he continued making other orders before remaking mine. Just as I was about to ask for a refund, I finally received my coffee. I understand that mistakes happen, especially during busy periods, but better communication and order tracking would have made a big difference. Unfortunately, my first experience left a bad impression. As much as I liked the atmosphere, I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this coffee shop based on the service I received.

Comforts sits right in the heart of downtown San Anselmo, with a small parking lot next door (very handy). We opted to skip the sit-down café and grabbed a to-go salad from the marketplace instead. The small size is $10, which feels reasonable until you look around and realize everything else in that to-go area is... let's just say Whole Foods looks like a bargain by comparison. This is premium Marin pricing, full stop. But back to the salad -- it absolutely lived up to the hype. All the components were fresh and crisp, but the real star is the sesame-ginger vinaigrette: savory, sweet, and tangy all at once. Add in the satisfying crunch of peanuts, and it's the kind of salad that makes you understand why people drive out of their way for it. Comforts has been a Marin institution since 1986, and one bite of this salad tells you exactly why. Just go in with eyes open on the prices -- and maybe don't browse the marketplace too long if you're on a budget.

I request tea with milk and it arrived without milk. I had to ask twice before the milk was delivered. The food came with no silverware - literally no way to eat! Again, we had to ask two servers and wait while they took checks to other patrons before giving us the silverware. All the while I had to watch the entitled of Marin demonstrate their ignorance and poor treatment of others (including people literally walking into the store and not holding the door for a pregnant mother with a stroller). From the (lack of) service to the entitlement the experience was awful. Don't waste your time.
