Great place. The tomato-basil soup is reasonably priced and delicious, served with a nice garlic bread. Cheerful, friendly staff. Great ambience. The missing star is for the prices. Maybe they are economically justified by inflation, but they seem extreme even accounting for inflation. Makes one think of gasoline prices, which "go up like a rocket and come down like a feather." We have not had extreme inflation for a few years now. Well, I guess that's what the market will bear in this affluent little town. This is one of my favorite coffee places in Marin. Unlike the Novato locations this one has a full menu with breakfasts, sandwiches, salads, and Mexican food in addition to pastries. I always get the tomato soup which is really good. This location has lots of space for seating, including an outdoor parklet. It can get quite busy in the summertime with all the mountain bikers. I wish they were open later; they used to be open until 6 now it's 5. In the summertime when it's still sunny out that seems so early which is a shame. read more

I've never had a good experience here unfortunately. I've ordered too good to go orders and they told me that they don't participate. I've been given the wrong drinks. I never have a friendly cashier experience. However my daughter always has an amazing experience and loves this place. She is a frequent visitor and enjoys coming here with her friends so maybe it's me or the time I come in but it's a hit or miss. read more

They could've had a regular as I live in Fairfax. This place used to be great but now it's just ok. The blackboard was so much better than the new "computer" look of a menu. Made it feel like a cozy neighborhood coffee shop. But most importantly, the price was wrong on the menu, and the woman working there today said "oh well this is the price in the computer"... then didn't offer to honor the price and was generally unfriendly. Inspired by my visit to Marin Coffee Roasters in Novato, I decided to check out their San Anselmo location on a Sunday--and it was honestly the perfect decision. The space is adorable, with live music in the back, a super welcoming, community vibe, and of course, their matcha was just as amazing as before. We grabbed a coffee and an almond croissant, and it was such a fun, relaxing experience. The café was lively but not crowded, mostly locals enjoying the space, and the street itself is super charming. Their food looked delicious too, and I can't wait to come back to try more. Love this place! Whenever I have a Saturday free this is my first stop and it should be yours too. Every Saturday morning from 10-12:30 the Treblemakers play and they are incredible, as well they should be and no, I am not going to tell you why. Hear for yourself. You never know who might sit it, and it happens often. The vibe is warm and welcoming as is the staff. My coffee order is always spot on and their baked goods are great and locally sourced. I have never had breakfast here but the food looks fresh and delicious. People watching and dog petting is great! I always run into people I know here and often make new friends. Indoor and outdoor seating. I try to patronize local businesses when I can and keep my $ in my community so this is a great choice for those that want to support the same. read more

Heard of it, read about it, haven't tried it until now. Now that I have, I wish I tried it a lot earlier. I like the vibe and liveliness this shop exudes. The only thing i didn't like was they didn't get my order correct, but I think the relatively loud live fun music made it understandable haha. Microwave everything?! Pre-make everything? I came with my daughter's family with 3 young boys to celebrate a 7yo birthday. There was nothing any of us would eat again, and much of what the young boys ordered was brought home in hopes of being eaten later. The adults are their breakfast croissants and bagels with reluctance just to not waste food. We will NEVER be back. I can't fathom why the line was so long. All the bakery cakes were amazing and we took the berries scone, the chocolate brownie, chocolate chip cookie and another one (like a croissant with chocolate inside that was divine). You would think with a name like 'Marin coffee roasters' they would have a good coffee right? I mean that why I go to coffee roasters, to get good coffee beans... So I know the place, I've been there several times over the years. But I have been taking my coffee relatively seriously for the past 5 years, and taking great care as to what I put in my body. Part of that is finding very skilled roasters, and there aren't that many in Marin County. I just bought a new grinder and wanted to break it in, so I stopped in there as I had other business in San Anselmo. I got the Costa Rican, which has been a preferred region for me in the past. The young lady that helped me was very sweet, but she took forever to fill my order. I stood there waiting, while she prepared two other drinks before actually filling my coffee order. I was surprised by this. Obviously some woman's coffee milkshake is more important than my whole bean order. I was offered a cup of coffee with my order, and the drip coffee I got tasted burnt, i.e. the beans were over roasted, and it clearly came out in the flavor of the coffee. When I open my bag of whole beans, they smelled burnt as well. When I ground the beans, they smelled burnt and missed the delicate nuances of Costa Rican coffee. When I got home, I made three batches of pour over varying temperature and grind size, and they all tasted burnt. I understand this place has a following, and it looks like they sell more food than actual coffee. Like I said, when I go to a place that's called 'blank' coffee roasters, I expect good coffee. YAY for decaf Americanos! While their smalls are the size of a bucket (yas!) I can appreciate every ones need for caffeine. I loved the interior decor, it felt very cozy despite stopping in quickly for some coffee. Staff was friendly and it wasn't packed, which may have been because of how early it was on a Saturday. My Americano was perfect in and didn't taste too bitter or burnt (like some other place do), which was great and I appreciated the fact that they actually did make it decaf (again... unlike some places, which is a huge no no). Marin Coffee Roasters is one of my hometown's many great local cafes. My go-to place for the last year or so, I love dropping in for a cup of Joe while people-watching and taking advantage of their high-speed WiFi offering. On this trip, I decided to change it up and try their equivalent of Starbucks' mocha frappacino. The actual name escapes me at the moment, but it was basically the same idea. To be honest, I actually like the Starbucks version better as they tend to blend them a bit smoother and the turn out less icy than the Coffee Roasters' take on it. There are a few things that I would modify about the overall package of Marin Coffee Roasters' offering such as making it more laptop friendly, but all in all, it's another great example amongst the abundant Marin cafes.
