I came here after a day spent at Muir Beach and were so happy to find a local brewery in San Rafael. I enjoyed a glass of the summer ale, which was light, crisp, and very refreshing. The hazy IPA was also a hit for us! We had our dog so we could not sit inside, but they have a nice sized patio for your dogs to hang out with you out there! The servers were incredibly kind and also brought our pup a little treat. To eat, we shared a soft pretzel that came with beer cheese and mustard, a pepperoni pizza, and the burrata salad. The beer cheese was a little too runny for my preference, but otherwise a nice snack. The pizza was a personal size so you could easily order it and eat it alone for a meal. The burrata salad was my favorite! It had fresh cherries, crushed pistachios, radish, and arugula, with a balsamic and olive oil drizzle over the top. It could've benefited from some flaky sea salt and maybe some honey, but it was otherwise so good! Also, the burrata only comes with three crostinis, but employees let us know that if we wanted more to just ask. They are just trying to reduce waste which I also appreciate! We went on a hike not too far from here and stopped for food and a beer on the way back. You come in, order at the counter, sit with a number and they bring you your food. I later realized you can order via QR code at the table as well. Very spacious and chill inside. Also outdoor seating if you want some fresh air. It made me really happy to see NA beers on the menu!! Not 1, not 2 but 3 different ones! And guess what I tried them all. Really reasonable price and a range of a porter, kolsch, and IPA. Food wise, the half roasted chicken hit the spot! It was roasted to perfection. And love the bed of veggies too. As for the Cilantro Lime salad, it could be better. The combo was just mid.. and the tiny pieces of lettuce was annoying to catch on the fork. There was also live music. It was classy. Mature crowd, no rowdy bar people. Loved it. read more

I'm a regular at Pond Farm: I go and hang out at the bar and meet new people, I meet friends there and sometimes I take my kids for dinner on a hot day (they have amazing air conditioning!). I'm also a member of Stein Society so I also go to the monthly beer tasting. I wish I could go to the trivia night on Mondays more. The taproom is spacious and has great natural light. There are enough seating options to allow for groups of different sizes to meet and mix. The yard on the side is really nice when the weather is good and has nice chase on a hot day, too. The beer selection is WIDE. They have a few always-on Lagers and IPAs, and then switch out different IPAs, dark lagers, weird spicy things, sours, etc. The food is good and they've done a great job of trying things out as specials and moving them to the main menu when they're popular (hello tacos and pulled pork sandwich). The staff are fantastic--helpful, friendly and fun--and I'm happy to call some of them friends now! They host weekly trivia and music, Oktoberfest annually and local craft fairs several times a year. I grew up in the UK and for 15 years in California I've been searching for somewhere you can walk into and have it feel like home. This is the closest place to a pub I've found in terms of community and I love it most for that. read more

We ordered fries and one taco and it took over 20 minutes to arrive. When it did, the server dropped the basket on the table roughly and almost spilled our beer and then I tried to eat the taco but it was refrigerator cold. Not cold like they made it and forgot about it (that would be lukewarm). This was cold like they pulled it out of the fridge and didn't heat it up. I could deal with that if they hadn't taken forever to serve us and then rudely dropped our food at the table. It was so rude that another diner asked us why the food runner was mad at us. This place has such a cute atmosphere! There is an inside area with tables and an outside area with twinkle lights. I also love their drink options: they have cider and wine on top of beer. They had a pretty nice Indoor and outdoor Sunday vibe going on. Lively. Fun. I had a hazy IPA, a dark lager, and a Belgian ale that, I swear, would make all other Belgian ales jealous. I have become a regular at the Monday Night Trivia. Last week 15 teams answered a wide variety of questions on everything from the chemical formula of rust to historic dates to Harry Styles songs. My teammates love the wide variety of on-site brewed beers and they have recently added smashburgers and a daily soup--all delicious. Small pizzas, barbecue and salads, all fresh and delicious. I really appreciate the kids' menu here, and the beer selection was pretty solid too. The place is definitely family-friendly, though the crowd wasn't very diverse--possibly because there was a Wizards trivia event that night, which tends to draw a specific group. We had already agreed to share the table, but when the group of non-drinkers arrived, they gradually edged us and our toddler out in a pretty unsubtle way. We came looking for a dog friendly place while on vacation in the north bay and we found Pond Farm Brewing. I am unaware of any parking lots for this place, but there was plenty of street parking around this brewery. We found outdoor seating on the side of the actual brewery and was relatively calm spot for our ADD dog. We ordered via QR codes and our beers were brought out to us very quickly. We ordered the Key Lime Pie Sour and a flight of beers. I'm not a huge fan of key lime pies, but this sour is great! It tastes good and is very approachable for non beer drinkers. I ordered a flight including the Kolsch, Of rice and Monks, Wit, and Esme. I enjoyed the Kolsch, wit, and of rice and monks (a laughing monk collab!) the most. As a craft beer lover, I want all small brewpubs to succeed, but at the same time, there is a lot of competition and talent in the Bay Area beer scene, so hopefully owners take customer feedback as a way to improve and survive in this tough market. Food was just okay. My grilled cheese was put together with little thought: the cheese was all piled up in the middle, leaving much of the bread without cheese. The cheese was not melted except for the outer layers of the stack. Most good grilled cheeses I've eaten had the bread buttered, but this bread was toasted and dry. The side potato salad was good. My companion had the veggie sando, and said it was good. The beer was good, not "really good" or "great," but keep in mind I only tried two. The hazy was a bit thin for my taste but had good hop flavor although not bursting with juice. The San Rafael Lager was good, although a buttery aftertaste (diacetyl?) detracted from the overall experience. The ambience and decor is really nice and open. Could use one more tv for games. Nice little outdoor patio. Service was friendly. No dedicated parking lot but there was easy street parking when we visited midday. Not sure about when it's busy. I look forward to returning in a month or so to sample more beers and give the food another try. read more

Great beer and ambience. The food ... the cochinita tacos were great the pretzel was really good the cheese has an odd texture but tasted ok. Now the wings were terrible they were not fried, they seemed boiled the skin was soft but the worse was the sauce. I was excited to see the Chile de árbol option since it's my favorite sauce and I love spicy. This is not Chile de árbol it had no flavor it was just very hot I could not eat it and I really do love spicy, but this just hurt. Chile de árbol has a unique flavor and is usually done with tomatillo it does not have large seeds like the one served here that was not seasoned at all. I was really disappointed and could not finish it. The cook should go to a local taqueria and ask for Chile de árbol sauce it would go great with FRIED wings. I will go back but I wouldn't get the wings again. read more

This is 100% a craft brew joint, with local sports viewing projected against a blank wall in the corner, spacious indoor space, and lots of outdoor seating. Pond Farm is an attractive taproom, but it's not a restaurant. They do partner periodically with local restaurants to provide a limited food menu, made nearby in a portable kitchen. We came to watch the end of a 49ers game, and that weekend Pond Farm had partnered with a local tacoria to offer a Mexican menu alongside their extensive beer selection, which included five IPAs. Family friendly, spacious, a wife and husband locally-owned beer business, with an eye to safety (they asked for proof of vaccination when we said we intended to drink inside) Pond Farm is a good option for craft beer aficionados. read more

Okay, many people seem to love this place. I'm just trying to figure out why. I feel like it's mostly Marin County Rich yuppies who only go to trending places and they feel that craft beer Pubs are cool. OK, here's my issue, the food is just not high-quality, it's made with little originality, and taste like it won't get you sick, but if I'm going to eat food, I prefer that it is special and delicious. The craft beer taste just like any other craft beer made at the hundreds of craft beer places in California.. you can now buy IPAs at every grocery store, not like the old days when you had to go up to Hopland to buy red tail ale, which was live yeast and a truly exceptional craft beer not just another dusty tasting IPA. Always interesting to me when people think that when something taste like dust it's good! Where I grew up if something tasted like dust it wasn't what you wanted to eat or drink. Lastly, again like most craft breweries, there are no choices of domestic beers, like Budweiser, Heineken,corona, or other normal lagers, and Pillsners that people like to drink. Why not? This is another thing I can never figure out, if these were business people who ran these pubs, they would serve some lighter beers with lower alcohol contents so people could drink two or three, and stay longer buying more food and spending more money. Instead, it's a menu of heavy beers with high alcohol contents where a normal woman.(biologically born a woman.) could only drink one beer without feeling a decent buzz. Now let's talk about the atmosphere. The pond farm is on a busy turn at the end of fourth Street. It is congested with very little parking and if you park across the street be ready to cross the street and be careful. Once you get inside, there is no atmosphere unless you feel that looking at traffic on a busy street With no view of anything else. It's nice atmosphere. If you go there and eat, you will not get sick, and the beer will taste exactly the same as all other craft beer, strong with usually a bad tasting finish that will fill you up so you can't eat and can't drive. If you are a rich marin trender who wants to be cool instead of actually being cool, then this is a good spot for you to spend some inheritance before you head to your cabin that your parents left to you. I want to make it clear that the pond farm is not terrible, in my opinion it's just boring unoriginal over Trendy without their own ideas. You will not be seeing this place on the food channel, but if you have some college friends coming in from the East Coast and you're between 40 and 65, I think this is a good spot for you to sit and talk about how much you care about the world! read more
