I've been going by The Lodge for years and finally stopped in. The only disappointment is that I didn't stop by earlier. The service was fantastic, friendly and accommodating. I had two tacos that were tasty and full of goodness. They let me get one chicken and one steak taco. The atmosphere is homie and the decor interesting. You run into the eatery before you get into downtown Fairfax, it's on the left and be sure to look out for it. I highly recommend a visit. read more

This is a very cool spot very Fairfax, Marin County vibes. Casual "hiptituity", laid-back, very chill. Indoor and outdoor seating. A couple of outdoor areas, some under shade with picnic tables. Located in Marin County, California, The Lodge in Fairfax is an iconic, historic establishment built in 1908 by the Arbini and Segale families as The Old Timer's Saloon, serving as the town's very first bar. After years of being utilized differently, the building underwent an extensive two-year restoration. The owners of the San Francisco bike shop Big Swingin' Cycles purchased the property, upgrading its infrastructure, adding a kitchen, and building a large, dog-friendly outdoor beer garden. You get that feeling that you really are at a lodge at the lake in Wisconsin. At least for a minute, it brings back memories. However, in place of the white and red pine trees are the gorgeous redwoods providing shade. Nice tap beer list with healthy portions served. I had the mushroom tacos, vegetarian style with a little salad and chips $10 and a half a beer. My lunch mate had the summer salad with chicken added $25 bucks which is a little steep, but certainly enough for two people. Served in a very large bowl. It's quite impressive. I would forgo the protein and save the six bucks extra. Great spot, great service, great ambience, great food, and beer. Walk,drive your car, or bicycle in. This place is a mountain bikers pit stop in Fairfax. A lot of bikers would park their bicycles in the back and grab a few cold ones before ending their day. The food is good, but not exceptional. A lot of foods were purchased from Costco. Like pre made salad mixes, burger buns, all from Costco. If you go there, order a few cold ones as they had good tab selections and good appetizers, like beef tallow basket of fries for $7. I saw some bikers eating sausage platter appetizers and they looked good. I would go back again in I'm in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way just to go there. I love this place. I love the Thai chop salad or the Philly cheesesteak and they have a great selection of beer too. And the owners are great. The history of the buildings really cool too definitely a place to check out and grab a beer and sit under the redwood trees. You forget your on Sir Francis Drake sometimes. read more

Staff, ambience, outside seating, friendliness and awesome! Food wise; we has the nachos to start, with chicken. Very yummy. I had the tri tip sandwich with avocado. My friend had the 4 cheese grilled cheese. All super yummy. My husband had the sous vide hamburger, and he was not too pleased with the sous vide part. Maybe a question of taste! The Lodge has good sandwiches and beers. It's a great place to stop on a warm day after a bike ride. I don't eat at the Lodge during the winter months because they keep the place really cold like mid-50s. I'll be back in May! read more

Run, walk. bike, scooter to The Lodge right now! Amazing food, great atmosphere, and super cool and helpful staff. The outdoor seating area is an awesome place to grab a bite to eat after a long workout or to have an adult beverage after a long day. It's got a great ambiance that is immediately relaxing and fun at the same time. Tonight we were having dinner with friends so I called ahead and ordered the family taco box. Holy moly it was spectacular! The mushroom tacos are my favorite and I could have had a million more of those delectable tacos. The taco box is worth every penny and you get all the tacos with the fixings and chips, salsa, guacamole, and crema. I think The Lodge right now might be my top place for tacos. I know I will be popping in on a weekly basis for those fantastic tacos. The desserts on the counter looked so good and I am now regretting not grabbing dessert. I am so happy to have The Lodge in the neighborhood and I will definitely be a frequent visitor! read more

I want to start off by stating that the food here is good. This review is also not a reflection on our waitress. My rating reflects an interaction we had as we were leaving the restaurant. My wife had pulled the car out with our 9 month old as I used the restroom. One of the woman working (most likely the owner) walked out to the parking lot and began harassing my wife about how she was parked. She was parked for literally 2 mins waiting for me to wash my hands after changing my son's diaper. I walked out and was blown away to hear and see this employee basically trying to stare down my wife. After that embarrassing display we will never return to this restaurant. I hope that employee (owner) reads this and realizes how inappropriate this was. You don't treat people that way. read more

Excellent ambiance for the mountain biking enthusiast. Also doesn't hurt that they have great food in just the right portion amounts. The selection of beers on tap is just the right amount of choice without overwhelming you with too many choices. Have enjoyed using the demo options for their mountain bikes. Gosh, I really wanted to love this place. The space is a perfect hangout, casual and very inviting. The service was sub par and the food was almost inedible. We had the banh mi and the cheese steak sandwich. Both meats smelled old and was hard to eat. The banh mi was saturated with pickled vegetables which helped mask the foul meat but even with this I couldnt even finish half the sandwich. It's safe to say this is a place to come hang out at and maybe have a beer.. if you are into that kind of thing. I wish they had more drink offerings, personally. But I would steer clear from the food. Onward as I would say! read more

This is my favorite bar in Fairfax, the outside space is lovely and quiet. The salads are my favorite because the portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. The Lodge is a home-style, no frills kind of community restaurant that serves up good, hearty foods, in a bright comfortable locale that lends it to gathering with friends, catching up, and sharing a beer. We found the food to be delicious and reasonably priced. We kept it simple today, but there were lots of options on the menu that we look forward to trying in our next visits. Today the owner was sharing with us that they plan to have a patio set-up in the sunny back yard, come summertime. It seems like a great place for Marin cyclists as they make their way along Sir Francis Drake. I think that I saw, hanging on the wall, that they have replacement bike tubes, and bikewear in case you need another layer, or something new for the ride. read more

Tried this place because we liked the menu, but the service and food reinforced we made the right choice! We were skeptical pulling into the parking lot of a little bike shop but as soon as we walked in, the employees were so kind and welcoming! She accommodated my nut allergy and was super cautious about it. She also gave us lots of recommendations for dinner and things to do in the city and the area. Their mocha coffee was also delicious! Very cool new place in Fairfax! In the works for sometime now, this was originally a lodge 140 years ago & has returned to its roots serving local bites, sandos, wine & beer. Serving breakfast, lunch & dinner. The decor is trendy, laid back, warm wood throughout like a lodge & they kept the original bar.! There is parking located in the back for cars & bicycles. They carry 8 beers on draft & various canned beers. It's a friendly local watering hole that serves the community, so come check it out. read more

Went in for our first time, people were very nice and accommodating, place was cool And comfortable-food was OK but reasonably priced-we don't drink beer and the wine.....well the wine was terrible Maybe the owners should have someone in the biz consult on their wine selections-I know so many places that serve beer don't care about wine but you should-your alienating a lot of customers who would be happy to drink wine but not beer. read more

A great new sweet spot for Fairfax eats and chill time. The bahn mi was delicious, as was the lemon scone. The space had good light and there are playing cards at each table, two TVs, the original bar from the 1900s, a jackalope, and plans to build out some BBQ in the back. Wow! We've been a few times now, and the food and drink is consistently delicious. The service is outstanding - friendly, welcoming, and not overbearing. It's a neighborhood gem, the perfect place to meet up for a meal and/or a beer. There are a couple of TV's too, so the game will be on. Great casual atmosphere. Edgar the chef has skills! I visited the lodge for the first time yesterday and was presently surprised by the cozy, happy atmosphere, and wonderfully, friendly, helpful staff. Warm and comfortable enough to take off your jacket on a super cold day, me likely:)) I ordered a decaf americano, which I order often. This was unexpectedly the very best one I have ever had! No joke. No bitterness, just smooth, Smokey and piping hot. It was perfect! Putting The lodge on my list of favorite regular spots for an excellent coffee- a beer - and maybe a game of dominoes?! The heaters here are very unsafe - the heater burned through my jacket, setting off flames. The manager was very unsympathetic - she blamed be for being too close to the heater, which I was not. She did offer to pay for my coat, but I don't even care about that and won't ask for a reimbursement. I'm concerned about the safety risk of the heaters and the fact that it could have been worse than it was, as I had my three-year old daughter next to me. The manager didn't make any adjustments to the heaters or check to see that I didn't have any injuries (despite the fact that my coat was in shreds). She just tried to buy me out. I won't go back to a place where there is no concern for the well being of customers. read more
