Just moved to Fairfax from San Francisco and I'm so glad we have this place! The food is fresh and the ingredients are excellent quality. They always seem to have reggaeton playing too, which is a favorite of mine :-) They also have great quality boba drinks, not overly sweet, with good ingredients. What would my son, who was raised on boba in SF, do in Marin without Bah Mi Ba?! Sitting outside on the little stools, people-watching, is fun. Highly recommend. read more

For Fairfax, this place is a 4/5. But rating it as any other bahn mi place: 3/5 The location is convenient and gives "hole in the wall" vibes. There are a few stools to sit along the sidewalk. The service was friendly, but we waited quite a bit for just one bahn mi. The combo bahn mi was small and didn't have enough cilantro and pickled carrots & daikon. It was mostly just meat (which is great) but also the meat marinade was pretty salty and overpowered everything else. Bread wasn't as hefty and crunchy and was soaked with the meat marinade. (Note: We did not try anything else. Just the traditional bahn mi!) read more

It's a cute spot on the corner of Bolinas Riad where Grilly's used to be. There's no seating so you'll have to sit across the street at the coffee place's parklet. I had the shrimp ban mi. It was good and had a few too many peppers. I'd pick up take out Audi and ask for more veggies and less spicy. The peppers were falling out. read more

yummy and fresh! our food was prepared quickly and packaged well. The chicken was fresh and perfectly grilled. They don't have much seating but its wonderful for takeout! read more

Friend and I popped in here after a hike to get a sandwich. They had the usual suspects on the menu, you can get your flavor combinations as a sandwich with noodles or a salad or a rice bowl. We both got the impossible meat laab banh mi sandwich -- the bread was perfect, the pickled vegetables were perfect counterpoint to the perfectly spiced vegan meat and it was a pretty amazing sandwich overall. I will definitely be returning here for another sandwich read more

I got the carmelized chicken and it was delicious. The staff were friendly, and the service was quick. There is limited seating but we sat at a tiny table outside. Great value! read more

So good try the shrimp sandwich and noodles ! So fresh ! Great service & nice to take out. read more

I cannot believe it has taken us this long to try this place after being in the area quite often. We decided let's give it a try! My goodness the Carmel Chicken Banh Mi was extremely tasty 5/5 starts on flavoring and the daikon pickles to the pate. It tasted so clean and smooth. Absolutely love the chicken they used. I eaten banh mi my entire life and I'm such a picky eater this place has by now my #1 place go for banh mi. I am not a huge fan of dark meat chicken but this place makes it with white meat and I absolutely love that! I inhale my banh mi, I had a moment with it. It's that good! Service has been good, the lady that is always there is always pleasant with a smile. I had to tell her today to let the owner know that their banh mi is the best. Please don't ever change the receipt or the type of chicken please. Must try! Definitely coming back over and over! My fiancé got the chicken bowl and I got the tofu bowl and that's also light, healthy, and refreshing. read more

I tried the spicy Korean fried chicken bahn mi today. It was a similar experience: lots of ingredients but not a lot flavor. It also wasn't spicy. The sandwich was enjoyable enough but nothing stood out. A bahn mi should have distinct flavors that work together. These flavors don't fight but they don't excite either. read more

I'm from LA and this bahn mi changed my life. Wings are insane too. So crispy with so much flavor, if you love fish sauce def get the wings too. The friendly staff was the cherry on top. Go here! Only outdoor seating but the area is great read more

So delicious! I appreciate the vegetarian selection of subs. Their impossible banh mi is worth getting. Their drinks are good too. A bit on the sweet side but it's worth trying. Definitely try again! read more

If you're thinking that the folks who run the nearby (2-doors down), Michelin-annointed Village Sake are going to produce a typical banh mi joint your thinking is askew. Bah Mi Ba, brought to you by those folks, produce what I like to think of as the "bespoke banh mi". It's very fresh in flavor and the menu features many meatless versions including tofu and "impossible" options. I was halfway through the Curry Tofu banh mi ($13) when I asked of the person I was sharing it with, "do they make the bread themselves?" I'm not even someone who cares much for bread but the freshness and soft texture of the bread had me mesmerized. Inside that bread, the ingredients also proved quite satisfying. The tofu was good, tasting not so much of curry, but the ingredients that it sat with did a lot of the heavy lifting with jalapeños providing the lion's share of the spiciness. With banh mi running $13-$14.50 apiece and vermicelli bowls costing $17, Bah Mi Ba clearly isn't aiming to be the best deal in town but the product they put out is high quality and tasty. Despite this being a place exclusively for take-out they're serving the sort of food I'd be happy to consume pretty much anywhere. read more

Meh not a fan. The sandwich wasn't balanced and tasted funky... not in a good way. I tried the BBQ and the sauce was bland, the pickled veggies were not crisp and the bread wasn't very good... They did have special Thai flavored chips which are really good!! I tried the Thai basil. read more

Cute spot friendly service everything was fresh and nothing was really awful, but there was no flavor like it just wasn't yummy. I got the brisket for with vermicelli noodles. Maybe I ordered wrong but there was none of that tang or complex flavor you get eating Vietnamese food or Korean for that matter. read more

Good food. Banh mis are the most authentic I've come by so far in a while. I have noticed 2 variations in food quality, there are probably 2 main chefs, both variations are still really good, but just to note the consistency. I love love love the Fried chicken vermicelli bowl. It's so good and very authentic fish sauce dressing. Service is nice. If it's hot, it's hot inside. It's more of a take out place anyways. Maybe a couple of seats outside. read more

Saw this on yelp and wanted to try! Service is good but there is very limited space to sit. They have a few tables and chairs outside but they are small. Got the chicken vermicelli bowl, chicken salad, and the traditional bahn mi. They are all so yummy and not the traditional flavors you usually taste in vietnamese food but it was all so so good! The chumichurri sauce in the bowl was such a cool addition and the crispy rice in the salad made it more crunchy. The bread in the bahn mi was fresh and yum! We sat at the park nearby so recommend bringing a picnic blanket and take this togo The only meh part is it's expensive for their food read more

Excellent take-away only Vietnamese bánh mi sandwich spot. The menu was street-food inspired and developed by two chefs at local favorite, Village Sake, and the small take out spot is now run by another partner. The bahn mi sandwiches here are a stand out. I got the bánh mi classic, with pate, pickled vegetables, and meat. The ingredients are excellent down to the very fresh French baguette. In addition to sandwiches, they have Vermicelli bowls and a limited (just three flavors) menu of milk teas, along with bahn cam (fried sesame balls with mung beans.). They have a curried tofu bánh mi and bun, with a lot of flavor for tofu, for those with a veggie preference. Very simple menu, no seating and take away only. Open Wednesday to Sunday, eleven am until 6 pm. read more

Absolutely worth the drive and wait. I got the KFC and it was really tasty. Good bread and decent size portions. Sandwich was well put together meaning it had a lot going on but not fall apart messy. Family of 5 we all devoured our food! Team was nice. Place is small but gets it done. read more

The pork Bah Mi was great. Service was very fast and efficient. Not much of ambiance but I always do take out

Love this place. The food is incredibly good and the people that work there are really friendly. Only complaint is I wish it was open a little later for take out. Highly recommend read more

Growing up we used to hike from the cascades up split rock and do backflips into a swimming hole up there. The fuel for more, that was always a sandwich wrapped tightly in paper--in our backpacks. This banh mi reminds me of those times. Vivid, delicious, never dull. Chicken Salad. From what I've tried off the menu so far for me, this is the grail. Texture is just running gambols on your tongue. Smoked almonds, crispy rice, the different greens, caramel chicken. Add sliced jalapeno. It's just bomb man. read more

I heard they were closed due to a fire but looked on their website and they said they were opened. I decided to go try their banh mi. I ordered the banh mi Korean fried chicken. The picture on the menu online shows that the banh mi is bigger... but really it's not that big for the price I paid... Taste was good not something where I would say "I'd definitely come back!" Especially for how much you pay definitely not a rush to come back.. $13.59 for a banh mi is quite expensive.. well expensive for the size.. read more

It's not often I do take-out, but Bah Mi Ba is my number one spot for it. Everything from the Curry Tofu Bowl to the Impossible Bahn Mi is absolutely delicious and keeps well when being driven home. So glad to have this in the neighborhood. read more

Excellent Banh mi and noodle bowls in the heart of Marin. I'm so happy to have this little gem on the other side of the bridge.

Fast and friendly but got the order of chicken wings you get 6. Had them before and all was meaty. Order yesterday I was not happy with 2 of the so called wings was a tiny bit of meat on the bones 2 was ok and 2 was meaty like the 1st time I had them. Maybe go back to company you was buying from before! So my order yesterday was a waste of money read more

What a great addition the Fairfax! Tasty banh mi. The traditional had pork belly, crunchy pickled carrots, and pate on fresh bread. The KFC had juicy fried chicken. Will definitely be back to try the other sandwiches read more

First time here. Tried the BBQ Brisket banh mi. Meat was nice and tender, minimal fat. The BBQ sauce was different from other banh mi shops I've been to. This one is definitely more mild in flavor. I do prefer sauce that is a bit more sweet, since it pairs well with the pickled veggies in a banh mi. Seating is limited since it's a very small shop, but there are some chairs outside where you can enjoy your food. Customer service was friendly and I would love to come back to try the KFC or caramel chicken. They do use chicken thigh, so that's a good sign. :) read more

So happy to have Bah Mi Ba here in town ! The food is delicious , the Bahn Mis are served on fresh bread and so flavorful. The salads and vermicelli bowls are also so fresh, tasty and authentic. All the teas are also great! It is pretty expensive, and I do wish they added a little more meat to all the dishes , but the food is on point and very much worth it in my opinion. Friendly and professional service also , and a very clean and cute place ! read more

I got the "kfc báhn mi" w/ coleslaw next time definitely ordering w/o but chicken had a crisp (boneless chicken cut in half) , also going to try the "og báhn mi" for a better experience, bread could use a lot of more crunch (maybe wasn't fresh?) but thank you for the food anyways! and will be back because of the people from fairfax are so kind! have a nice day if you're reading this! ok, bye read more

Something has changed...the salad presentation is different. The chicken is more shreddy looking, not a nice grill presentation as it was just a couple of months ago. What up? change in chef/supplier? Bring back the old salad, it was the best! thank you read more

Killer Bahn Mi with a Korean twist. Their fried chicken sandwich is the bomb. Not much seating, but big on flavor!

This little place has started out strong and a fire may have paused things, but thank goodness that was temporary because Bah Mi Ba is back at it! Sure, you can get a cheaper traditional bahn mi sandwich, but you certainly won't have a choice of Mary's organic chicken or all the other top notch ingredients. It's not easy to find a true vegan vermicelli noodle bowl, but this place has it and the tofu is also fantastic. Open only from Thursday to Sunday disappointed me at first, but I soon realized it's so I can't spend money there every day, so they're doing me a favor. Now that's thoughtful! read more

I'm a regular at bah mi ba, rarely going longer than a couple weeks between visits. In checking out the reviews here, don't see a single comment on the chili shrimp bahn mi. Now, I wouldn't typically choose a shrimp bahn mi, but on one visit, I was ordering for my pescatarian buddy and ordered him the shrimp to go along with my standard beef/chik/trad (which one i forget). They ended up accidentally giving us two chili shrimp bahn mi and i'm super thankful they did. It really is a unique and amazing sandwich with large lightly fried shrimp tossed in a lovely creamy chili sauce with all the standard fixings. So yummy. Got one the followers for my pescatarian gf and now she's hooked on it as well. All the food here is great, but don't ignore the chili shrimp! read more

Ahh the Bánh Mì, the French inspired but definitely Vietnamese sandwich. Popular all over the world and for good reason. They are hard to make bad and there are so many variations making for endless varieties. This place delivers the goods in a perfectly baked "baguette" that is crispy on the outside but also perfectly soft. Layered in tangy pickled veggies, peppers and cilantro and your choice of meats with some wild card fusion styles like their Korean Fried Chicken (KFC). You get your food quickly for your enjoyment. It's a must have in Fairfax. read more

I had the tofu vermicelli to go. It was breaded and deep fried and tasted delicious. On the menu it said curry tofu, but I didn't taste much curry. If anything, there was a chicken flavor to it. I had to slow down every bite and check to make sure it wasn't actually chicken. Made me wonder if the tofu was fried in the same oil as the chicken? Not sure. The vermicelli, greens, pickled vegetables were all fresh and tasty. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Fairfax. read more
