The wontons were satisfying and the pho does the job -- but if you've had deeply rich, slow-simmered broth from a more traditional spot, you may notice the difference. I've eaten a lot of pho and this spot is a solid 3 average. It's tasty and does the job but nothing that stands out from other more authentic places. Decent size portion. Standard pho broth experience though a bit light on flavor. Acceptable amount of meat. The brisket though was somewhat dry texture not soft or tender and had a slight earthy taste, a bit unusual. Clearly from the flat part of the brisket and not the point, so no fat/fatty flavor. No cilantro as part of the veggie sides. Beef rib pho "takes 15 minutes" to prepare, even with a mostly empty restaurant. Interesting. Maybe they keep them cooked and frozen and waiting to thaw on demand. We were in the area and wanted to get some pho so we stopped by this place on a Sunday night- there were only 2 other parties there so lots of open seating. The service was pretty quick and the interior was clean. We got a few appetizers- the chicken wings and egg rolls were pretty good (nice and crispy) but the spring rolls rice paper was way too hard and chewy and the fried tofu had no flavor. I really like the decor and ambiance of this restaurant as compared to other pho places around. Their pho and the service is good. I got the vermicelli bowl. It was fine, could use a bit more pickled veggies. We also tried their spring rolls. Also good, a bit over fried and they give you 3 without cutting them so if there are 2 of you, one person gets less. Unfortunately all of their food has MSG and I get a migraine from it, which I regrettably asked afterwards. I really wish they had some MSG free options for the many of us who are sensitive to it. First, I have never liked metal bowls for Pho. Even stainless steel reacts with the broth and imparts a flavor - my opinion of course. If served at the proper temperature, the bowl can barely be touched and the soup cools too quickly. I was really looking for another traditional Vietnamese option in Marin County and this isn't it. This is more of a contemporary take and a disappointing one. The broth was too light and not the rich, satisfying umami that Pho broth should be; Pho is all about the broth. The toppings were not that generous. The ambiance is clean, spacious and inviting and the staff was friendly and attentive. I would say this falls behind Pho Viet and is about tied with Saigon Village. I have not returned since my first experience and most likely won't. read more

First of all, great to have another Vietnamese Pho house here in Marin! Stopped by for a Mothers' Day brunch and we were not disappointed. The place is HUGE, a beautiful space tall ceiling and really nice floral wallpaper. The menu is really all about the Pho and other soups - there are some rice and noodle plates on the menu but I'd call this a Pho house first and foremost. We started with some appetizers - we got the fish cakes, tofu, and eggrolls. Each came with its own dipping sauce and they were all incredibly fresh. The we had the soups - I had a Wonton, my wife had the seafood and our veggie daughter had - you guessed it - veggie soup. Grandpa had the grilled beef rice plate which he said was tasty although the beef was a bit tough for his liking. The staff including our waiter Mike were incredibly attentive, helpful, and had a fantastic playlist going (if you're my age, anyway). The overall experience was just fabulous and we can't wait to get back there. Bring a huge party, this place is ginormous! Over the past 20 years or so, we've spent a lot of time searching for a good local pho spot. Several have been okay - but none of them have been consistently good. Pho has broken that trend. We've been going here for several years now and the quality of their food has been consistently good. My routine order is one of the beef phos. Since one of us doesn't eat beef, we appreciate them having a chicken broth based soup as well. Portions are not huge, but more than adequate. Their noodle bowls without soup are excellent as well for the times when you're not feeling the need for hot broth. The staff is super quick and friendly. It's located in a convenient spot in the same strip mall as Grocery Outlet and Ross, right off the 101. There's plenty of parking in the lot. Inside, there were woven rattan pendant lights hanging from the ceiling, and a beautiful floral wallpaper mural. There was a ton of seating so this place would be great for groups. I ordered the B4 Combination pho. It came out quickly. Given the nice interior, I was feeling slightly skeptical about the food, but it was delicious! It came out piping hot and in a giant bowl. This new pho place generated some interest with the locals, aptly called "Pho". Once you enter, it smells strongly of the cinnamon and star anise that goes into the pho broth. You know the broth is going to be good. The menu is very simple, with a few options of pho, rice plates, bun and other noodle soups (think seafood combo) including appetizers. It's hard for me to resist egg rolls, and these were quite good. I liked the overly crispy shell with soft pork, taro and carrot filling. It was flavored well and paired well with a less pungent but still tasty fish sauce. The pho broth is one of my favorites as the spices are more prominent but the broth was a notch lower than boiling hot (my favorite). Noodles were solid as were the beef balls. Amount of toppings was on the smaller side but was just enough for your bowl. The iced coffee was strong but a bit too sweet. Service was awesome, so was vibe with 90s techno. Pho serves the popular Vietnamese noodle dish that is good enough, especially for Marin. Given how few good Asian offerings there were in Marin when I first moved, I am glad to see things are slowly improving! Although probably not as good as some places in San Jose, Pho definitely makes the case for decent pho options without the two hour drive. Definitely made better with the hint of lime, basil, and sriracha. It did come with good amount of brisket and beef meatballs, but didn't seem to have any? rare sliced beef. I would come back to get. G2 Grilled Pork Rice Plate (4/5) There was the option to do vermicelli instead of rice, but opted for rice since was going to have noodles with pho. Pork came out flavorful with that mix of saltiness and umami from fish sauce that packs a great punch. Love having the pickled vegetables on the side to provide a little balance and acidity. The service was pretty fast and attentive. The parking is in a pretty big lot that is shared with other businesses. When we went during Saturday night, it was busy but still not hard finding parking. Coming from San Francisco, we probably shouldn't have tried the pho in this area. Our standards are quite high and it's difficult not to compare. And we know it won't be authentic as having pho in San Jose or SF, especially when the people working here aren't Asian. They probably should downsize and get a space that's cozier. The waitstaff were attentive, since there were only a few patrons when we were there. We tried their grilled pork with cold vermicelli noodles and a rare beef and brisket pho. I had the grilled pork with cold vermicelli noodles. Their noodles weren't cooked long enough or it's been in a cold refrigerator and got hard so the texture was off. I thought the pork was over seasoned and a bit salty. The rest of the dish was ok. It filled me enough. 3/5 My bf and daughter both ordered a rare beef and brisket pho. My bf said there wasn't enough noodles to fill him but adequate for my daughter. Also the rare beef came fully cooked so the meat was tough. The broth didn't have the typical richness of authentic Vietnamese pho. It tasted like broth base you can buy at the Asian market. And they ordered rare beef which costed $5 for 5 thinly sliced beef. Obviously not worth $1 a slice! 3/5 Maybe the people around here don't have other Vietnamese restaurants to do a comparison. I belong to a local foodies group. Monthly, a member of the group will elect to host. They get together for potluck. This is my first outing where we actually met at a restaurant. Susan is a dear friend. She set this up for the group. The weather was perfect as well. As I walked in, the staff that worked there greeted me and gave me big smiles and made sure that I was comfortable.. The owner came over to also greet all the people who were showing up. There were about 12 of us. This is a vietnamese style restaurant but with very upscale interiors. The tables and chairs were comfortable and clean. There was a wonderful mural on the wall. It was fun to look at all the activities that were going on within that painting. The room is large and has high ceilings. It actually generates a feeling of excitement. We all ordered our meals because this event was no host. As the food started arriving at the table, my eyes got bigger and bigger and bigger. Every huge bowl that came out was jam jacked with flavors and freshness. There was a wonderful array of colors of vegetables that were used to make the salad pop and give it eye appeal. My lovely wife had the Pho Wan-Ton. The broth was divine. I have had these soups for years at different restaurants. And there's only slight variations from the ones that I've tried. This one was totally unique. I ordered the Pho barbecue pork. I've never seen this offered anywhere. There is no broth and the dressing that you put on the greens that you toss with. Our barbecued meat was divine. Every item served comes as a large portion. People certainly get value for their money at this place. Considering the amount of vegetables that I saw on our table. I was impressed by the fact that all the produce that I saw came to our table was like it just came from the field full of color, crispy, crispy, and vibrant. This place was so good. Finally... I feel like the North Bay has been waiting for a spot like Pho for decades now. There are a lot of Vietnamese restaurants in Marin County, and this place takes the cake. Taste and quality of ingredients are both A+. My go-to meal there is the chả giò (fried egg rolls, A1) and phở tái (rare sliced beef pho, B1). And what I like about Pho is that it doesn't feel like a North Bay restaurant (i.e. overpriced dishes that don't feel "fully" authentic); the place actually gives me SoCal or Sacramento vibes.
