Super cute cafe with good breakfast food. We stopped in on our way out of town on a Monday morning around 1040. We were greeted and seated right away. Randy ordered the classic eggs Benedict. It comes with a thin slice of tomato on it. It also came with delicious crispy, chunky potatoes. He also ordered a mocha and really liked it. I ordered the Golden Gate breakfast with scrambled eggs. The eggs were only ok - overcooked though. It comes with two pieces of bacon (decent) and a choice of pancakes, waffles, croffle (a waffle made with croissant batter) or French toast. I chose French toast, which I never do. It was really good though. I also got a side of fruit. The fruit was a small portion of berries and a couple grapes. On a rare visit to our friends in San Rafael the four of us went out to brunch Saturday around 11am. We started off with Bloody Mary's. Took a few sips before I remembered to take a photo. We agreed there was enough booze in the drink. A good variety of breakfast items which the four of us were aiming for. Although it's an Asian fusion place, our breakfast items were American. Ordered - * I had the pancakes with two eggs and choice of sausage, bacon, or ham. I chose ham. It was Canadian bacon which I liked. * hubby & friend had the waffle, two eggs, and choice of sausage, bacon or ham. Hubby had bacon while friend had sausage. The best of what we had .. coffee so good, berries were amazing as were the breakfast potatoes which were so crispy (which is oddly rare at brunch places). My pad Thai was delicious - moist with tasty sauce and tender chicken. Mango tango drink was great - house made mango purée with sparkling water. My companions ordered a tom yum scramble, fried chicken eggs Benedict, and a blackstone eggs Benedict. I found this restaurant online and decided to check it out because the website was very enticing. I came here with my fiancé, my mom, and a family friend as a meeting place since it was a good middle point between our respective cities. I really liked all of the menu options and the fact that we could choose between breakfast, brunch, or lunch options. They had a great selection of sweet and savory options and I appreciated that dishes were fusion/Asian/Thai-influenced. I ended up choosing the Monte Cristo sandwich which I enjoyed! My fiancé had one of the omelettes and I can't quite remember what everyone else had but each of us seemed pretty satisfied with our orders. I also tried the berry matcha but it honestly wasn't really anything to write home about aside from the fact that it was aesthetically pleasing to look at. The 3/5 stars is because the service could have been better. I felt like my party was greeted with annoyance and while we were seated quickly, about 5-10 minutes into being seated, we were asked to move to accommodate a larger party (it ended up working out because the area we were moved to was cozier) and didn't receive much help from the server with moving our drinks. There were about three employees that interacted with us and each of them were not very friendly which was disappointing. I'm undecided on if I'll return but if I do, I hope to have a more pleasant experience with the staff. read more

All the dishes I want to try feature disgusting fatty meat. I love panang curry and red curry. But you can't get these dishes with good meat. They feature only fatty and chewy cuts of meat like pork shoulder and ribeye. I hate the taste of fat. I wish they offered premium low fat cuts like filet mignon. I'm not ever going to order a ribeye or pork shoulder even if I do like the rest of the dish. Solid to decent overall. Visited Tutu last weekend and was pretty happy with our experience. We came in at opening and were immediately seated. Service was friendly and the food was good. My truffle and mushroom omelette was good and the kids enjoyed their croffles. Their ube latte was delicious! I think the only disappointing dish was the Thai tea pancakes. We thought we were gonna have a small wait, but to our shock we were immediately seated! Nice surprise! Their service is quick and we really liked that. Brought us waters right away and we asked for a few more moments to review the menu since it was our first time. I ordered the Southern Cal Tutus Egg Benedict and my bf ordered the Farmers Scramble! I wish the scramble was a little better priced because it only came with one slice of toast. Serving size was great, but wish it also had potatoes or 2 plain pancakes for $22. My bf said it lacked flavor too but after adding salt and pepper he said it was decent. As for my Southern Cal Benedict, it was delicious!! I cleared the plate which is rare for me. Brunch at Tutu's Lounge was... fine. The exposed brick and setting is nice, but the hand-taped signs and sticky laminated menus gives the place a slightly unfinished feel. I had the chicken and waffles: boneless (I prefer bone-in), though the skin was nicely crisp and the meat moist; the croffle tasted pre-made. A croffle is a combination of a croissant and waffle, but this tasted more like a day-old donut. The dish missed the crunch and tang of a good, freshly made waffle. I liked the idea of the basil rice and chicken with egg dish, but I found the sauce too salty. Matcha lattes leaned milky and grey, rather than a vibrant green. I'm generally a fan of Asian-fusion brunch, and local standouts include Sweet Maple's brunch empire with their Millionaire's Bacon (beloved and sorely missed since their Mill Valley exit) set a high bar. I was primed for that kind of fusion here, but it wasn't executed as well. Overall, we may return and try again--brunch is a favorite and local options can be limited--but this wasn't a particularly strong first showing. read more

This was my first visit to Tutu Lounge. The layout is the same as the previous restaurant that was located here, Bogies Too. I ordered the iced strawberry matcha tea and the mushroom and truffle omelette. The presentation of the iced matcha was beautiful! It came with a sprig of lavender on top and the drink was delicious. Relieved to have found a nice brunch place opened on Christmas Day! My friends and I came hungry after camping and luckily found a small gem in downtown San Rafael. Street parking available. Food was delicious! A bit on the pricier side, but flavor are great and quality is very high. Traditional Eggs Benedict - The potato's were so crispy and seasoned so well! It's not too salty which was perfect for me. The eggs benedict were standard and delicious, no complaints! Chicken and Croffle - two fried chicken patties, perfectly crispy and paired with a nice spicy-mayo sauce, on top of a croffle. Loved that there's a bit of sweet and salty in this dish, as well as some veggies and berries. I also got a thai iced tea (not pictured) which was delicious but a little too sweet to my liking.
